So I downloaded fmDotNet and started a new ASP.net web site. In my page_load sub, I have the following Code I know that this code works, because if I substitute AvailableDBs for AvailableVLs, I get my listbox populated with all my DBs. Edit: I get the error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object Anybody have any ideas?

Please help... I have developed a website in .NET for my company which has a "Service Request Form" which feeds data to our FMP database. I don't know if its a bug or not but when a user submits the form, most of the times the data gets fed to the database but sometimes it just won't go. I believe it happens with particular user(s) only. We have tested it so many times and it goes thru everytime. I have tried to catch the exception and have it sent to me as an email but I did not get any email when that user tried to submit the form (though I receive error email when I create an exception deliberately). I have a database which will be hosted through IWP. Both guests need access to view a few layouts with no password as welll as a few registered users who need to log in to view more layouts. IF both guest and the other privilege sets have fmiwp extended privileges they get a login box when accessing the database...for "guests" it may be too confusing for them to know to select guet and may try to enter some other type of account info. Is there a way to default to guest login and then have authenticated users login on top of that later? Ive already tried telling the file to login using the guest account in File Options, and made a button with the "re-Login" action at…

I have a layout with a portal on it. The portal rows are NOTES that can be added by users. Sometimes the notes are long and the text is displayed in an edit box with a scroll bar. However, with IWP, the scroll bar does not appear and the text is simply truncated to the height of the edit box. What is the preferred way to display such information without truncating the text? Also, is there a way to show all text from each note (the related records) without the need for a scroll bar and without simply adding a ton of extra space just in case it's needed? Hiding Ghost Radio Buttons in IWP I am doing an image database for a client who will be hosting it for his customers using IWP. The images are for film locations, and as there is no convention for naming location â��keywordsâ��, my client wants to display all of the keywords together using radio buttons. There are 100 keywords. He needs the customers to be able to look at different groupings of keywords. A hierarchical menu doesnâ��t do the job as there is no clean way to organize the info. I'm trying to find out if it is possible to open a remote file over the internet and have it run as though you were on a local network. The reason for this search is the solution I'm working on for my company will be mainly used on a LAN. But some of us need to access the data via internet.(mobile broadband) I've been creating different layouts for each. One that will work in the office and then another that is web freindly. If it were possible to have FileMaker installed on our mobiles and have just the data shared remotely it would be a "God Send!" Any imput any FM Guru might have would be eternally appreciated. I know that you can create a privilege set called IWP and you can set that privilege set to only have access to certain scripts/layouts etc. Or you can use the fmiwp extended privileges. What I am wondering is if there is a way to actually detect how a user is logged in, rather than using a privilege set. I want to simply put conditional statements in a script basically with the effect of: If user is logged in via IWP, do this, otherwise, do this. The reason I need to do this is because my boss only wants to have one set of scripts to maintain. I've just started playing with IWP. I'm wondering if there is a way I can place a button on my layout that would log a user out instead of making the left pane visible and then clicking on "Log Out". Some of us in my company use wireless internet and it can be very slow at times. Eliminating these two clicks would be very helpfull! I've searched FM's help and can find nothing on this topic. I've come across a snag getting some newly converted files to work as previously with FX. I've got a calendar database that a couple of different pages query by date, but I'm now getting error 500 back from FileMaker ("Date value does not meet validation entry options"). The relevant part of the query string causing the problem looks like this: [...] date.op=gte&date=20%2F12%2F2006&-find As you can see, FM seems to be choking on the URL-encoded version of the date. It worked fine in v6, but v8 seems much more strict with things like this (which by itself is no bad thing). Does anybody know how to get around this problem? Cheers, Kevin

They are concerned about performance and functionality using FMP as the backend -- they just don't know!! I'm totally confident that FMP-php will serve their needs, but I would like to be able to point to some real-world solutions that would demonstrate FMP's capabilities. I just happened to be doing some tests when I think I discovered a bug in IWP (FMPA 8.5 OS X.3.9) The PAUSE SCRIPT step does not perform timed delays - it just hangs around forever (like "indefinitely") Allow user abort [OFF] still permits IWP to CANCEL. The help system says these steps are compatible without exceptions. Any one confirm? Will someone at FMI please fix it?

Hi, I have one problem, I use Web Publishing with one of my data bases, and when I create a layout as a LIST, in web browser it shows only 5 records at time ( per page), why is that? I would like it to show the whole page. In table layout it shows all records, but that is not what I want.(table layout I mean)

When I make edit fields in filemaker, in the field behavior I always set to go to the next field via tab, enter, or return. Of course, in IWP only tab works. My question is this: is there a way to prevent edit fields from dropping down to a new line when the enter key is pressed? It looks to me as if, when filemaker generates the web site, it uses "text areas" for all of the edit fields instead of "text fields" (those are html form terms). So basically, all of the edit fields become multi-line fields in IWP and pressing the enter key drops down to a new line. Please pardon me if i sound dumb. I have Filemaker server 7 running on Windows 2003 server. The databases are hosted using IWP and everything seemed to be working fine when i discovered this issue - Clicking on back button of the browser displays the previous record in IE6, even when i am logged as a Data Entry person. The broswer back button in Firefox just refreshes the current record, But IE6 displays the previous record. Is there any way of preventing this or disabling the browser's back button. Thanks

Does anyone know if there is a difference between what the access log says below in these 2 instances? Why does the 2nd one say "cleansession" but the first one doesn't? This user wants my database taken down because he got an error that said another user was in the record (no one else had access to the record he was in) and he lost his input. I think maybe he logged in twice without logging out the first time, which would make HIM the other user. HE says the database is worthless because he has one problem after another but no one else has had any problem (I checked the application log for errors.) His "other user" error (#301) came up after the 2nd login below. …

I have Dreamweaver 8 (Mac) and FMStudio configured. We have our own FileMaker Pro Advanced Server (on an XServe). Currently, all our databases are on the web using XML (difficult to say the least). I am trying to connect with Dreamweaver/FMStudio, but I don't have something set up correctly. I have built a simple survey that I intend to administer using IWP. I want to require that a field is not empty before the user moves to the next question, so I am using the following script: If[survery::q1_result = ""] Show Custom Dialog ["Error";"Please complete the fields on this page."] Else Go to Layout ["Survey_p2"] End If Problem is, of course, Show Custom Dialog is not IWP compatible. Hi, The size of filemaker window vary from machine to machine. I tried 'window resize' option but it is no web compatible. I've discovered that FMSA8 has a serious bug with ampersands -- I have a global field that is populated by a value list based on a field. Some of the values include Ampersands, e.g. ... Engineering Math Math & Physics ... I'm finding that, under IWP, if you choose a popup with a value that includes the Ampersand (e.g. "Math & Physics"), if a portal is related based on that field, what you get instead is a match based on the text prior to the ampersand (e.g. it matches "Math" instead). I have a script that pauses for 2 seconds and then continues. It seems that in IWP, the client side browser will pause, but not continue after 2 seconds. It waits for the user to click continue. The problem is that I have the status area hidden. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Hi Folks Setup I have the following setup: IWP runs smoothly, I have a very complex set of different databases running. Due to the complexity of the different files they were separated and not all in one file. All files contain the same login/passwords, so that users can access different files. Question 1. The user logs into file A 2. He wants to switch from file A to file B Currently he has to logout and login again to access file B. Is there a way how to directly switch to the new file? After completing a database in filemaker 8 I stumbled into the problem of almost all my scripts failing when used on the web (via IWP). An example of which has been a script that date/time stamps a field so it can be used for notes. I'm also trying to create a script that opens a new window but again this wont work. In IWP, in table mode and list mode, it seems that the active record must always be the first record. So if you click on the 20th record in table mode (of a max of 50) it will pop to the top of the screen.. It feels awful that way. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? (I was thinking of maybe showing the records in a portal) Is there a better way? (perhaps turn off the ability for the field to be entered in browse mode on the layout??)

I just put in a purchase order for FMStudio. I am hoping to do the following: Be able to put our school district Forms on the web. Staff would login to the web database. Fill out a form, and hopefully download the form as a PDF document for printing. I would like an email notification sent to an Administrator to look at the Form for approval or disapproval. I was wondering if FM Webschool had considered doing some kind of online training. Yes, FMStudio is very easy to use, but I'm sure there are some things that I am missing that I think would make FMStudio even more beneficial. Perhaps a training series and best practices series. Is there a way to access a specific layout directly from a weblink? I've got a DB hosted and I'd like to open in in a web browser and go to a specific report layout. I've tried the obvious - adding a &lay= or &layout= to the links URL, but that didn't seem to work. Thanks in advance, Alan

I have a very simple FM8.5 DB that is setup on a remote servier with IWP enabled. I have build the menu structure to allow the status area to be hidden and locked. What I can't seem to make work is to move from one DB to another when I'm using a web interface (not FM open remote). Say for example, I have DB1 open and layout1 showing in a web browser. It has a simple button on it that executes a script that should open DB2 and it's "startup defined" layout, but that doesn't seem to do anything, but refresh the browser and come back to the same please with no open being preformed. I'm trying to use php to create a nicer URL for an IWP-enabled database. Such code works well to show the contents of the required URL without giving away the address of the URL you're showing: <?php require("http://233.163.343.130:16080/fmi/iwp/cgi?-db=RT_Restaurants&-loadframes"); ?> It doesn't work though, I get the dreaded PHP white page of death. All, I've checked back threads and can't really find much discussion on this so pardon me if this is a repeated issue. Does anyone else get unreliable behavior out of the IWP home page? When I select a database link on my IWP home page, more often than not, the page will simply recycle and come back to the database list or come back to a blank display with just the IWP page header. I have to hit F5 in these latter cases to bring back the database list. Sometimes I have to click a database link 5 or 6 times to just get it to present the login page to me. Hello hello from Finland, I have created a database that has few hundred of records and more coming. My issue is that when I use IWP, there can be shown 25 records/page at the same time. What is the script for a button to get 25 next records to be shown at one click ( in browse mode) for my client who is viewing database via internet? I've been attempting to share 1 database for a while, but it seems that because I am 1 of 6 or 7 computers within a network, that there are more steps that I don't know about. We all have the same external IP, so I'd have to then direct a user to MY local IP. plus, I don't really know much about the port or "port forwarding." Does this mean I should use a DNS (would that even help)? What do I need to do? thanks

I currently have 12 employees, working remotely from home offices. This system would allow me to keep track of who is in the office / appointments etc... I'm new to FM, but I've managed to create a full database that I now would like to publish online so that my design clients can view and add info to the database. I followed all the directions in the full 34-page tutorial for setting up Instant Web Publishing, but when someone tries to access it from the web, there is nothing. I've specified an IP address and Port #, and privledge sets. I click ok. Is there another step before this can be viewed online? Was this supposed to create an HTML file in my FM/Web folder? because it didn't. What is the proper way to access the database from the web?

Hello, After having read other posts in this forum regarding the setup of a custom IWP home page, I think I find myself with missing pieces of the puzzle... I am hosting FM files with FMSA8, but I can't find anything under the FMS Application folder that looks like the .app package which contains the iwp_home.html file. I also looked in the /Library/WebServer/Documents directory (forgot to mention I'm working on a Mac OS X Server) but found nothing there. I do find such a package listed under the FileMaker Pro 8 Applications folder, but editing the iwp_home.html file therein had no effect on the page displayed by going to the IWP URL. I have a database of hundreds of photos added using "Store only a reference to the file" and would like to make it accessable to the intranet so employees can choose photos for publication. We are hosting a number of web applications using filemaker server 8.0 Advanced. Currently using the 'Exit Application' function which takes the user back to the iwp_home.html page. We can of course edit this to look as we wish, but the problem is that as we host a number of sites, when the user 'logs out' and the exit application function is executed we want to set it up so the user is taken to a different page depending on what application they are exiting from. We have set up Web Publishing in the two-machine setup as per the documentation with the Administration Server and Publishing Engine on our Web Server and the Databases on our Database Server in the "Two Machine Configuration A" setup. According to this document on the Filemaker support site we should only need port 5003 open on our firewall but this doesn't appear to be the case as the Web Server always reports that it can't find the server. The Web Server is in the Firewall's DMZ and is already serving another database application with a custom filter in place for the required port and that works fine so the basic network connectivity is there. Hi Everyone, I have been building a few medium sized FileMaker sites with FX.php (using FMStudio v1.2 as the base) and I have been now stumped for a few days regarding logins. I have watched some videos of how to create FX logins using a login table, but I wanted to use real accounts. Hello, I was wondering if there is a line of code that I can put in my solution that will either die or redirect to a can't connect to database screen if the database is not available. I am contemplating having filemaker as the main database engine behing my websites, but If for some reason the connection can't be completed, users would be redirected to a mysql entry screen located on another server. That will take some work, but I would really just like to know how to set some sort of timout like 10 seconds or so if they can't login, redirect them to another page.

While publishing a FileMaker 8v2 database thru IWP, an error message: "unknown error number 13" will eventually appears on the browser as a pop-up window... This error can happen at any time and we are unable to figure out what is the cause of this problem. On the server-side, when the 'error 13' happens, we have to restart the two(2) WPE services and then everything is back to normal. But it is not an acceptable solution !! The phenomenon is the same on two different Windows servers we tried and NO, this is not a matter of a corruption because it is a totally new and clean file. I have tried to use FX.php before with some tutorials from the web but I was always stumped by the installation steps - it always seems that something is wrong with either PHP or FX. Could someone please advise me how I can place a custom web for use with FMSA8 (MacOSX 10.4.7)? I've already tried the following: 1) Created custom pages test_home.html and test_auth.html by duplicating and then editing the original iwp versions. Did the same with the iwp .css files. I've setup FMSA8 on a network where there is a local mail server and I'm trying to get an email sent to the local admin when a new subscriber completes a form under IWP and clicks on the submit button which runs a GET URL script step. I'm setting up a solution where a user fills in basic information and the system returns a thank you page. However, I want to record the user's IP Address. Using FM's Get(SystemIPAddress) return's the server's IP address, not the clients. How do I get the client's (public) IP address into a field in IWP?

I'm sure you all have discussed this issue, but forgive me as I cannot find anything on this subject. I recently purchased FileMaker 8.0 (it's upgraded to 8.0v3). I'm almost complete with my database and I decided to test it over the web (using Instant Web Publishing). The problem is that a few of my layouts extend over several pages -- this is necessary, but when I look at my database in IE7's Print Preview, it only shows the first page with the horizontal and vertical scroll bars. Have I done something wrong, or will I have to recreate the database to use only single page layouts? Thank you for your help!!

So... I downloaded the Business productivity pack and have changed that so it suits our company and it works like a charm using FM... The problem is that we have people working all over the country and wanted them to access the same things by internet, published it all using IWP and now some issues have emerged! I'm new to FX.php, and everything was working great but now if I run a query on a layout that contains fields from a related table I run into trouble. Instead of returning a handy array that is easy to work with an object gets returned that conatins layer on top of layer of other objects and arrays. I am seeking a PHP guru who can show me how to code some of the more difficult aspects of a trainign registration system I am building. Just today, Microsoft made Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) available as a "high priority" download for Windows XP. This means that many users will upgrade w/o realizing that they have done so. I'm doing some testing using IE and FileMaker IWP now. Not seeing any big issues yet. Anyone else found things that break, or perhaps work better?

I am using filemaker server/web publishing 8.04. Everything was working fine with the IWP until recently. Now every time I go in to the admin console, anything I do says "an unexpected error has occurred." I have tried several times to restart the web publishing engine as well as the entire computer. We had a power outage here last week and I am not sure if it is tied to that but I can't change anything in the web console. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have a solution running on IWP and have an issue with the found set. When a search is completed the database will only display records 1 - 25 on the current page. I have to use the next range button on the side tool bar to see the next 25 records. Can I have it show me all records once the search is complete?

Is there a way to define the printing from a IWP database? I want the page to default to landscape before people print, it currently defaults to the standard A4 layout only.

I want to put links to image files on my web server instead of embedded images, but I can't get it to work. If I put an image in my file and choose "store only a reference to the file" the image does not show up in IWP (instant web publishing). I tried using a calculation that returns a container: "size:601,94 image:custsat-header.jpg imagemac:custsat-header.jpg" This works locally, but again not on the web server. Is the problem that I am not working on the host machine? It still seems like I should be able to enter a relative path and have it work. Please help.

My online database works swimmingly using IWP (well...sort-of), but I would like to take one piece of data from it and pass it through to a webpage form. Does anybody have an idea how this might be possible. Could I possibly use the ?XXX format to append the data to the URL for the page? Has anybody tried this before? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. P.s. Conversely, it would also be great to be able to accept data back.

After upgrading to 8.5 websharing, the user is presented with a list of all files to which he/she has access, instead of going directly into the file specified. Is there an easy way to use a hyperlink to authenticate user, and open a specific file without displaying all available files?

my website redirects to the iwp that i am hosting as well, everything works fine, i am able to by pass the auth page and just fly right into my iwp. problem i'm having is that i put in an exit application script in, and i didn't like that because it took them back to the fm iwp page showing the file folder etc. anyway, so i decide to take the exit application out and then just put in an open url script so it opens my website back up, however this just opens another browser window and doesn't close the iwp browser window. i do have the disconnect inactive accounts after 5 minutes on, but i would like to know if anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong. i have to…

I have a List view of find results which always displays a maximum 25 records. When I click in one of these records in IWP it jumps to the top of the list and shows the following 25 records? It seems like each record has become a giant, invisible, imposed button. Is this a feature? Can I turn it off? This behavior is unintutive and confusing for the users (and me). Thanks, b

I've come across a problem with Instant Web Publishing and Firefox and I wondered if I was alone. I'm building our university intranet discussion board in Filemaker and it works nicely in Safari and in IE on the PC. But Firefox, on both PC or Mac, completely mucks up the rendering of text in a portal row that has formatting applied using e.g. the TextColor command in a calculated field. In the form with buttons I use token to set a value depending on the button clicked on. Hi, When i publish a Portal true IWP .. My Browser Shows a horizontal scrollbar, but all items are within the lines of the portal row. Expandig the portal is not helping. It is just one click but very irratating. Trued switching off the lines .. but stil the same problem. Thxs
