Every once in awhile I have a user that receives an error via iwp that says record not found. From that point the user can't do anything until their session expires. Why does this happen and is there a way I can prevent it? Thank you! Lisa

I have a field set with checkboxes. When I do find on these boxes in FMP the found set is correct. When I run the same find when running the app in IWP the found set is zero. Any ideas?

I have a question on performance. I also ran into the issue of a 2nd relationships field not appearing in a portal. Here is what I have... Table 1(contains icon) Table 2(Contains data the dictates the relationship) Table 3(Has the portal) Why does it sometime take five to ten minutes to update this field in a portal? I cannot get images in container fields to display in portals in IWP. Anyone have success with this? My images are in the fields - not referenced by location. They are very small jpg files, which display great in IWP in native layouts, even related layouts. But not within portal rows. Any help greatly appreciated - already wasted too much time trying to get this to work!

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to filemaker, I inherited a FM database in my new job. We're using IWP to give our clients access to certain information in our DB. We're having a problem where we click on the IWP link that should take us to the login screen for the given DB. However, when we click the link it merely refreshes the screen. This happens in IE 7, Firefox, but not in Opera. I'm thinking this is somehow related to javascript because when I disable javascript in firefox, it will take me to the login page, but will only show the login boxes. We're using Filemaker Server 9.0.3 running on Windows 2000 SP4 with IIS 5. Thanks!

When I select IWP and turn it on, what looks like a generic IP address shows up as 10.0.1.2 shows up. Shouldn't the IP address come up as the external IP address of my computer determined by going to whatismyip.com? I used the advanced option button to specify my external IP, but when I try to test to see if the database is accessible on my Windows XP PC, the IE7 browser indicates page not found on both the 10.0.1.2 IP address and my external address. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a problem with FMSA 9v3. I have a solution running. The log file is limited to go no bigger then 40 MB's. Error's occur seldom, but when they do, the log file grows to over 26GB. Then the HD is full and the whole server crashes. Anyone have experience something like this ? TIA

I'm attempting to execute the PHPSA on a Windows Vista laptop and the radio buttons give random behavior when clicked. Seems like it's probably related to the installation of JAVA on the Toshiba laptop, which is 1.6.0_oem. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what to do about it?

Is there a way to add a tag to the URL that could be passed into a script in the database, example: Ok lets say I connect to my database via IWP using this URL: **http://myserver.mycompany.com/fmi/iwp/cgi?-db=MyDB&-loadframes&record=2766 so that for example the login script of MyDB could pickup that 2766 and take the user to that record automatically? I try to use the get(screenwidth) function in IWP and it gives me 640x480 despite me being logged in on a 1920x1200 MacBook Pro. Is there anyway for IWP to poll the screen resolution of the client machine? Manuel

I have a database with a container field in each record that has a reference to a pdf report. I created a layout that will list all the reports available to the user. I am trying to write a script for each button that will go to the appropriate record in the database and activate the file in the container field. I have tried the set field to the container field with the Select/perform option and that did not work. If I show the layout in list form, I can click on the container field and the file will open. I am trying to automate that process in an IWP script. Any suggestions.....

I have a simple database that runs fine in Filemaker and FM Remote, however, when it is up in Instant Web Publishing (IWP), clicking on a record causes all the records listed above the point of click to disappear. Also, as soon as I click on that record, that record is the only one that I can enter the fields; clicking on any other record does not allow field selection. I assume this has been discussed somewhere, but I haven't found it as yet, so if anyone could point me to where I can find info on this I'd appreciate it. I have always build with FX.php, and am only now doing a job using the FM API. What is the best way to combine these on the same server? Does it matter if FMSA installs it's own PHP, or is it better to do a manual install, and retain the normal install of PHP? I have an app that uses portals for navigation. If two users are in different records and the user saves a record then the second user gets an error message while saving "related records have been modified" and the second user's changes are not saved. What am I missing?

The status area is too confusing for my IWP end-users so I want to get rid of it and replace it with my own buttons. The one question I have is how to detect when a user has clicked into a field so that I can replace "Add" and "Find" buttons with "Save" and "Cancel" buttons? This is how IWP operates with the Status bar. I can see how I could create a layout with all fields locked out until a user clicks on an "Edit" button that could call a different layout with Save & Cancel buttons and editable fields but that seems a bit clunkerish. Hi. I have been asked to create a simple database to be presented on the web. Users would choose a language from a dropdown menu, and the appropriate text for a product would be shown. Some of the translations may use japanese, Chinese, Korean or Cyrillic scripts/fonts. I have not worked with foreign character palattes before in FMPro. When the translations come in can I just store them in a regular text field. Can I expect that field to display properly on a web page created through FX.php or do I need to be aware of special behaviour for different character palates? Thanks, ft.

2nd Post. This website is awesome. Anyway, I have 2 DB using IWP. Same User & Access privileges on both DB. DB1 (Main System) contains 2 Tables. TB1 and TB2. TB1 1toMany TB2 DB2 (PDF Files) contains 1 Table. TB1 1to1 DB1 TB2. On my Layout1 (DB1 TB1) I'm showing fields from DB1 TB1, a portal of DB1 TB2 with it's fields and 1 container field from DB2 TB1. On the Firefox or IE browser, everything is displayed correctly. I can even see the filename of container field on DB2 TB1. I am using Filemaker sever advanced 9 to host files. Up to today clients could access the files online thorugh instant web publishing. Now they are are unable to connect to them. I am able to view files on host computer through IWP but cannot connect on another computer. What I missing?

I'm rather new to IWP, so please bear with me. When I go to my IWP homepage, http:// : :/fmi/iwp, not all of the databases show up. In fact, it seems like filemaker has chosen at random which database to show. In the Admin Console settings, IWP is turned on, and some databases do appear, but only 15 of the possible 37 come up. Is there a limit to the number that FM can host, and if there is, how do I specify which ones should be hosted and which shouldn't? Hi I was going along brilliantly on my Mac running FMP 8.5v1 on 10.5.5. IWP worked fine. Someone said there was an update to 8.5 and I should download. I did. And v2 broke IWP. I know you've heard the story a thousand times. So I deleted 8.5v2 in the Application folder and found the preferences folder in the library. I trashed that as well. I reinstalled 8.5v1. Funny thing - IWP works the first time I start it up after the install. However, if I close FMP and open the file again - I get the IWP error: "...Instant Web Publishing could not be started." I'm using IWP to show some data from related tabl;es in portals. This all works fine most of the time. But then I get portals that simply refuse to display the data in IWP. Does anybody have any idea why this might be? (Obviously the portals display fine in FM itself). When I publish the database as an IWP the fields that I have auto enter using calculation don't work. They both work fine on the database themselves but not at all on the IWP. I'm sure it's something simple and I've looked for a long time but have been unable to find anything in these forums

I have several fields that use drop downs on an IWP layout. Add a new record, pick the drop down values you want, no problem. Go to update the record, and the values change on their own. So, if you don't see them change, and you change another text box, you will submit the record with changes you didn't make. It works fine using the FM client. Any ideas? -Jeff

Trying to get IWP working with an interface file on FMSA 8 with the Data file on another server running FMS 8. I can log in with IWP and see the layouts but all of the fields say . Logging into the interface file using FileMaker client works fine and I can see all of the data with no errors. Is this not possible or is it a problem with the data server not running FMSA? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So many threads talk about the iwp_home.html file yet I can't find a copy of it. FileMaker docs say it is on the Install CD. I only deal with volume licenses and thus download the install from FileMaker. There appears to be no file called iwp_home.html from the install. I have looked on the server in the /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/IWP folder and it is empty. Does anyone know where I can find it or get a copy of it?

I'm having a problem with Instant Web Publishing, where my calendar drop down box isn’t appearing on the screen, but only when I am accessing the file through IWP. I have a SQL backend database, where there are some date fields which are of a date/time data type (which means that in FileMaker these fields are automatically made to be of type timestamp). Does it matter what router I use to connect the IWP host to the Internet? Is there a list of acceptable routers or of required features? (The host is on a small office network.) I am trying to setup a FMSA9 server that will be accessed via a reverse proxy server. The proxy server is working properly however I am having a problem where FM IWP is returning a the domain name of the local machine not the name of the originating domain. Filemaker's currently pushing itself as an alternative to Excel, which is exactly how we use it, for crunching lots of data. Now we want to display tables of data on the web. The Instant Web Publishing does what we need. But we're expecting a lot more traffic than the 100 simultaneous connections the server allows. So we're looking at generating an entirely static website from the Filemaker database. That is, once the website is generated, it consists only of html files and the Filemaker database is not needed at all to serve the pages. (And yes, that means there is zero interactivity). I have drop-down lists on my forms that pull information from value lists in FM9A. Is there a way to validate the fields not be left blank .. I put in a "selected" value of "Not Listed, see below", but if someone gets an error and is sent back to the form, that field becomes blank. Thanks!

I have a business database (time and expenses, invoicing, job costs, etc.) that I run on FM9, with 5 other users on a local Mac network. I am taking an existing system designed for FMapp access and making it IWP accessible. I did some interesting things with dialog boxes. Now, I am having trouble with the images I use as buttons. It is really quite odd. Some of the images will not work as buttons. I have transparent icon images I bought on the internet sitting on top of some gradient images (also transparent) I made with OmniGraffle. The OmniGraffle images work as buttons but the downloaded icon images do not. The OmniGraffle images are GIFs and the icons are PNGs. Any clues? Thanks for any input you can provide.

Hello, Embedded (not referenced) images in portals show in FMP, but not within the IWP portals. When the image is outside of a portal in IWP, it displays properly. Right-clicking where the image should be allows me to copy the url (ie: http://10.0.1.2/fmi/iwp/data.jpg?-containerfield&-recid=10&-field=60(1).53), but going to that url manually doesn't show the image, either -- the "page" just throws back the url. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks!

Hi all I have been using fx.php to pull data from my databases for years now, but I haven't ever pushed data back. I have created a login system that allows the user to edit a record and add their username and password. It is all working. The user logs in and there unique id is recorded and they are given a list of classes they can choose to take. These are from a related table. Is it possible to have a link that will create a new record in the database for the relevant person? Or should I be marking each class they wish to attend and then processing all of that to add the records to the database in a loop? I have a list of classes Mo…

Ok. This is my first post here and I'm embarrassed but I'm at a complete loss on this: I am building a small app for a friend of mine and am stuck on the simplest and most idiotic problem. I cant seem to get the fields so they are clickable. By clickable I mean, behave like a normal field does, ie. you click on the field and the cursor becomes active within that field. I am in an active session, a new record is created by the "open" script and the cursor starts in the correct field (tried both in Safari and Firefox). If I click outside that field then the cursor disappears an no clicking on that or any other field will bring it back. Only way is to tab to the field. …

I have been publish the address file of my FM Solution via IWP for year under FileMaker 5.5. Now I am upgrading to Filemaker 9 and everytime I turn on IWP FileMaker crashes. I tried re-installing but it was no effect. Any opinions?

I have no issues logging in to the system, but several of my colleagues have told me that when they follow the link to the IWP site, their browser flashes back and forth between the iwp_auth.html and iwp_home.html pages and does not let them log in. I created a layout that looks like a file cabinet. In each "drawer" I inserted a button that will link to a different database, for example "invoices", "bank statements", etc. When I publish the database and I try it online I click on the drawers but nothing happens. I enabled Instant Web Pubslishing for all the databases involved and I set the corresponding permissions and privileges. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a layout that has a global field that I'm allowing users to put a code in to. I script looks like this: Go to Layout ["Web_Registration"(SessionDB)] Clear [select; SessionDB::Global_PinCode] Refresh Window[] However, when I view this layout on the web sometimes the "Global_PinCode" is empty and other times it is not. This is a supported script step on the web. Any ideas why it only works sometimes? Anybody else had these kinds of issues with IWP? Thanks!

Hello Guys, Whats the most elegant way to get FileMakers IWP to send an email from the clients mail app. I've tried to use Open URL, with the mailto: command. This seems to work OK at my work machine, although it does have issues such as you need to enable pop up windows in your browser, and when it does launch, the browser says that a script is trying to launch a window (somthing along those lines) do you wish to continue. At home, the mailto: command does not work at all, although I can generate an email from another regular html pages with a mailto hyperlink. Anyone know of a more elegant way of just generating a bog standard email in IWP?

Hi there, I'm trying to use instant web publishing in FM7 for a few simple editing tasks on a file being referenced from a file which holds the data. However when I open up the Interface file over the web, the editing button, along with most of the buttons are dimmed out. I have given access to every privledge set to use IWP, and the account / privilege set I am using has access to add, delete, and edit the records in both the data file and the interface file. Anyone have an idea as to why I am unable to edit the records? (I've also tried to edit the date file direct though IWP w/o the interface file, with no luck there either) Any help much appreciated… …

Any way to allow a user to shift or cntl click multiple values in a drop down list in IWP. It works like a champ in the client. Any work around to getting that functionality in IWP? I hope, I hope, I hope!

So I have a list of records that shows u perfectly fine when I first access the database. However, when I click the "Add new record" button, all the previous data disappears (its still there, when I log out and log back in, its all there with the new record). This is annoying, tho, when I want to see everything right after I added the data. I tried adding a button that refreshes the data and shows all the records, but for some reason this doesn't make the records pop back up. What can I do?

Hey there - I have a budget database set up with a summary field that totals up all of the budget items found in a search. In Filemaker itself, the field calculates the total just fine. But when I log on to instant web publishing, the total field just shows the amount of the first item. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Not sure if this is even a IWP issue, so sorry if this is posted in the wrong location. using the iwp_home.html file I redirecting people to a thankyou.html page on our main webserver. (the FM IWP server is a different physical server and URL) The redirect is working and displays the page I want but the address in the URL still shows the address of the IWP server and file they connected too. How can I update the URL on the redirect? TIA

This is my first project that involves connecting to FileMaker 9 from C# via ODBC (where everything is taking place at my single computer (XP)). I have managed to open a connection to my data file, called Ecost.fp7, when FM is running and the file is open, using the line, OdbcConnection conn = new OdbcConnection(@"DSN=FM;UID=Admin,Pwd="); where the DSN FM is a User DSN set up using the ODBC Data Source Adminstrator. But I do not want to need to have FileMaker and this file open before running my C# program. I have a couple of applications I am porting to IWP which contain radio buttons on the layout. When displayed on the FMP client application, they render correctly (black on white background). When they rendor on IWP, the buttons themselves display grayed out, making it difficult to see which items are selected. I have double-checked the layout, and the colors I have specified are black text and borders on white background. I have also tried it in a couple of different browsers, and it is grayed out in both. Any solution for this?

Hello, I published my db to the web, and I am having the following problem. I have a container field (to store a pdf of the invoice/receipt) in a portal. Once I published to the web, the file is missing. I have the files in a separate db, and it's published to the web as well with the same settings as the expense db. What should I check? I can't get Site Assistant to login to a Windows-based FMS 9.0v3 database. My database requires authentication, direct login works fine, and has fmphp enabled. The test PHP database screen works. In PHP Site Assistant I can connect to the server. I see all active databases. When I try to select and authenticate the desired database, I always get "Invalid user name or password." It doesn't matter whether I select "Prompt user..." or "Store database account..." Hello All: FMP Advanced 9.01 Mac -Published via IWP -I have a database where each record is a city, and carries info such as hotel, contact, travel, meals, etc. for each city (record). -I would like to have people enter info into a record that corresponds to their city. For instance, the hotel would access the record for their city, and be able to enter their phone number, or address, etc. One solution is to break up the database and have a bunch of databases with just one record, then the hotel would go to the home page and click their 'city', and be prompted for Login/Pass. I had published a database and could move around it fine on a browser, but I went back the other day and the page said there were no databases found. I tried re-publishing it, but I still can't find my supposedly published page. Any reasons?

Hi all I am having a problem with PHP. I am using FX.php. I have data in my database, Header and TitleCalc. I have several headers, eg. state, federal, other. I want to see all the titleCalc for each header. My page is returning all the data I need but it is not right. I am getting a list of all the headers and then the Titles. What have I missed out? HELP: I am having trouble with 3 users who have PC's with IE 6.0 who get a message 'page cannot be found" when they try to access our Instant Web Publishing page. I could not get it to work on port 80 so I have used port 591. Everyone on a mac has no problem accessing the web page, but these PC users have no luck. 1 - Why can I not get port 80 to locate IWP and had to go to Port 591 and what can I do to rectify this. We have another server with Filemaker on it, also with IWP and that one works on Port 80 and my PC folks have no problem accessing that one. Any ideas?? thanks jackson

Is there a script step or function that shows if a user is accessing the database via IWP? I've tried Get(ApplicationVersion) without any luck. I want anyone logging in via IWP to be directed to a specific layout. Thanks!

I have a database configured to show only one specific layout in IWP, however, when accessing the database via a URL and logging in as guest, it defaults to a layout that I have made inactive for IWP. What shows up is the unwanted layout and on the screen . However, when you click on the layout tab on the left there is one other layout that can be chosen (the correct one). When you select that layout everything works great. And once you select that layout you can't go back to the opening layout (as it should be). Is this a "glitch" in FP9? Any way to fix this? Probably a silly question but I can't get it figured out. I used the php assistant to make a web site that displays data for a building. The search page works fine for searching the whole database, BUT I need to be able to link up an image map (floor plan) that when you click on a room, it will give you the data found in the database. So, the user goes to the floorplan in their browser, picks a building, then a floor and then clicks a room. I could make a link in the old CDML that searched the database and grabbed the data but I can't figure out the link when using php. Hi, I am trying to count the number of checkbox which was checked in one of the field in a related record, but I am not sure what am I doing wrong because instead bring the number of that related record it is showing me the number from all the records. I want to create a new record and then run a ScriptMaker script on the record that is just created. on addrecord.php is the form where the user enters the data for the new record. on browsrecord.php I want to create a new record and add the post data to the record (site assistant does this perfectly). All of my files are showing up in my IWP file directory with the exception of one. I am able to access by remote, but I can not get it to show online. Can you tell me what may be causeing this since I see all other files.

Hi, I've got a db of inventory records with linked reference images. they show up in IWP, but, even though I have "maintain original proportions" checked, they distort to fill the container's shape. The WEIRD thing I can't figure out is that SOME of the images are not distorted. about 3 out of 400 are not distorted. I've opened them in photoshop and compared. all are 72dpi rgb jpgs, all lo resolution, roughly 700 pixels max, all less than 200kb. I can't figure out if there is some problem with my images? or if there is some problem with my container settings. They show up perfectly with the FMP db access. has anyone butted up against this and solved it? …

Assume PHP is faster since FileMaker has written an api for it but has anyone run any acutal tests? Also does it hit the 50 connection limit when a lot of people hit it or does IIS pool the connections or does it even matter since it connects then immediatly disconnects after the page is finished loading..

I'm searching for a web hosting service that supports FMPro. I have a simple file (<300K), with a very low (<30) number of users that require very brief access, but need to edit the records. So I could certainly host the file using just the FMPro application on my home computer, but...... My current website host only supports MySQL, and my current ISP only offers dynamic IPs to personal accounts. Hi, I'm new to PHP so this will hopefully be a dumb question. I'm using the FileMaker API for PHP. I've created a basic site using the Site Assitant. When you search the database you get the list of found records on the recordlist.php page. When you click to view an individual record details you go to browserecord.php. If you click the Back button in your web browser to logically go back to the list of search results instead of taking you back to your recordlist.php results page at you get the "Webpage has expired" error. Is there a reason for this? How can I go from viewing a specific record back to the list of search results? Thanks, Steve

Hello, Hopefully this is an easy answer. We have FMS v8 running on a windows 2003 server. IWP is working fine and so are the databases. Here is the problem. There are a number of fields with vaulu lists. Most work fine, but there are 3 that do not. If you change the value from the list and submit the change it reverts back to the original value. I have looked at everything, so save my sanity, -: and help me find a solution. Thanks in advance

I am running filemaker 9 on Windows XP with Server 9 advanced. I can see the IWP on the computer hosting the database but unable to get it on another computer. What am I doing wrong?

I was successful in creating my page with php site assistant, but when I try to access the page from another computer I get the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message. How can I fix this so that any computer can access this page?

Each time I try to start FM advanced i get an error saying that I have a port conflict. eg"filemaker cannot share files over the web because of a Port conflict. Please Configure web publishing to use a different port." I choise configure and no matter what I change the port number to FM shuts down. In case it had something to do with our server version i turned off all web sharing. thanks BTW vanilla version of FM opens fine

I have a 7 file solution that logs a user into 1 file then subsequently logs them in to the six other files. My problem is that as the user logs in to File A we set the Show/Hide Status area to "Hide", then once the user decides to navigate to a table in File B via a GoTo Related Records script stetp, IWP freaks out. What i have notice is that if the two files have their status bar set to either "Hide" or "Show" then everything works out well. But if there is a mismatch (i.e. one showing "Hide" the other showing "Show") then that's when the freak out occurs. Currently, my solution is to set the status bar of the current file to what i anticipate the destination file…

I let PHP Site Assistant create a small web site. It has a plump Find page, fairly clever. However, the Finds do not work properly for me. It Finds records, but not really the correct records. It seems almost random. Obviously something is going on behind the scenes. Does it work correctly for you?
