Folks, I have a database that references that value list from another database to display in one of its drop down menus. It only shows in the FM app itslef and not in the web published version of the database. Does anyone know how to fix this? Mac OS 10.4.6/ FM Pro 8

I have a form which shows various fields, one of them being Approved (=Yes). If the client has already Approved the work I would like the pop-up to show "Yes". I they have not Approved I would like the pop up to be blank. I have a series of CDML forms which work grat in Firefox, but are cutting off mid-form in Safari. The exact location seems to be at the first occurence of an [FMP-IF] statement. I have a series of FMP-IFs which determine which value list to display, depending on the settings of the current user. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this to work in both Safari and Firefox? I would hate to require everyone to only use Firefox, but I am not above doing that! I am using Tiger-Firefox 1.0.2 and Safari 2.0.3 with FMP 6 unlimited as a DB. I used the same types of commands last year (same forms), and we did not have this problem, but I am sure this could be a result of…

I am currently running FileMaker Server on an Apple XServe (OS X 10.4.5), which is also serving as a web and file server. However, whenever I tried to configure and/or restart the publishing engine, I encounter the message (in red) "An unexpected error has occurred," which does not specify the error. What could the error message point to and is there a way to resolve this? Also, could something be interfering with the web publishing engine? I really need to get the web publishing engine started. Occasionally after a find, IWP seems stuck on record 0 of the found set (which contains several records). In the status area, the record number is given as zero. FM Pro users don't get this problem, just those accessing via IWP. This stops any scripted buttons working, and brings up a "Record Not Found: The specified record was not found." dialog box every time the user tries to do something. A workaround is to reveal the status area (which I like to keep hidden from users) and go onto record 1 that way. However, scripted buttons to do this don't work, so I assume the status area buttons in IWP work at a lower level than FM scripts. I tried to put a button on m…

Using FMP8A on a Mac and testing IWP w/Safari, openURL performs as expected. When I tested IWP on Windows, the URL opens in a new window which is quickly pushed to the background. I've tried changing the database window from maximize, but no change in behavior. Is there another Windows setting I should be concerned about? (I'm a Mac user)

I have two fields in my layout that will not change once data has been entered by the user via IWP (Adv8 using IWP). Both are fields with a drop down value list of future months( formated 07.06 July, 08.06 August, etc.). It is indexed and "Always Validate" is selected but the "allow override during data entry" is selected. I have also double checked my permissions for the logged in accounts and have tried both "Full Access" as well as testing Custom privillage accounts giving them all the rights necessary to edit, change, etc. Still no luck. The selection stays the same after you try to change it by selecting another date from the drop down list in IWP. …

Hi, I have modified the IWP_home.html page to direct straight to my db. So the user will be logged in initialy as a guest...if im right?! The user is directed in to a Login layout (a seperate table within the db with just 1 record) upon entering this layout the user is to enter their user name and password in to User Name and Password fields and then click the 'Login' button. The login button is a script that performs the re-login script function. The re-login information is taken from the entry in to the USer name and password field. Does this sound feasable for IWP? Can anyone see any major flaws in this from the IWP side? thanks in advance.

Using fx.php, I am trying to make a connection to a FileMaker 7 Advanced Server database. Using code that previously worked, I now cannot retrieve data and receive the error 956. There shouldn't be more than 1 connection being made, as the application that I am writing is still in development. Can the number of concurrent connections be changed through FileMaker, or is it a static number?

I'm trying to host a small FM 8 Advanced single file DB from my Mac running OS 10.4.6 using IWP over a Comcast cable modem. I've noticed that over the web, in Safari, that my portals behave in a very strange manner. When running FM 8 on my desktop, I have a menu from which a value is selected. This selection, via a self relationship, populates a portal. I then click on a field in the portal and go to a different layout. This all works fine on my desktop, but with IWP. Hello Everyone, I am designing a layout for IWP and have decided to go with fake tabs. In my first layout I have inserted a picture with text over it grouped together with a button control. This works fine and no matter where I click on the grouped object it takes me to my next layout. However on the following layout I have two graphic objects one rectangle and one rounded rectangle with text over it grouped as a button control. Now when I enter this layout from the first button in IWP I cannot select the buttons unless my pointer is outside of the text grouped on the object. Does anyone know why? Or possibly a fix for this? We have been using Filemaker Pro (FMP) for years to manage our images. Our own system that we call "MonsterDB" currently manages images directly from memory cards, moves images though multi stage processing, then moves images to staging folder ready for FTP to website. It can also FTP them directly but that function not yet ready for production use. MonsterDB is the structure of our workflow. Everything is button driven and workflow pauses for other applications when needed, then a click restarts processing. Photoshop actions are used for all image processing. I have a form that has one message field and two hidden fields. I would like the hidden fields included in the message field on the process.php page so when I receive the email it has the hidden field info. I don't know how to go about this. Hi All, I have been getting reported failures of a simple registration form that creates a new record in a FM 7 database using FX.php. The reported error is error code 958 which has the description of "parameter missing from query". The problem is, I have never been able to make the registration process fail, so I doubt that there is truly a missing parameter. The registration process works fine for me, whether I fill in all fields on the registration form or leave it blank -- a record is always written to the database. When i access my IWP db i am logged in to my Security db...the user then enters there login name and clicks the login button and in turn performs a open URL script step to open another FM database...problem been the datbase been logged on to opens in another browser window and therfore i would like to close the first window (security db) but cant get this to work! I may have posted in the past on this but I cannot seem to get any feedback or resolution!? Is anyone having problems with IWP's automatically created session becoming confused? For example, upon entering the IWP site, accidentally going to another user's layout's or not "sticking" within the current session? It is also happening periodically during normal routines within the IWP site, not just upon entering. ANY FEEDBACK MUCH APPRECIATED!

hello just another minor question I have used instant web publishing but results are no where near as good as i was expecting ...the small number on view and restricted manipulation etc. If I publish the whole thing to my own web site will it perform exactly as on the MY machine? Hi everyone. I hope this is the correct forum. If not apologies. I have a client who is running FM5 on Windows. They've been tapping into the FMP tables for their website store for years now, and recently decided to augment the interactivity, adding a few more tables (files) to the mix. The problem is that when we setup a layout called 'web' on the files that were previously not queried by the website, we keep getting an error, essentially saying that the queries cannot find the layout. My guess is that we need to change some setting on the file so that its data (and layouts) can be accessed from the site. Is there a setting I am missing. It's been so …

Yesterday was able to setup and acces instant web publishing on http:/62.30.161.184:591/ today when trying to open filemaker 7 it tells me other user is using files then i can open it ok but the url fails and in file maker it tells me files cannot be opened etc help please

I'm looking for a way to acquire the IP address of the remote machine (under Mac OS X, in case it matters) -- the client accessing the database via http. The IP information is in FileMaker Pro 8Web Logsaccess.log, but I'm not sure how one can get it. The Console app was greyed out when attempting to open its AppleScript dictionary. I have been having a hard time with an instant web publishing application (FM8) on a number of levels. One is reguarding customizing the experience for different user levels. The basic mo is to use "Get ( PrivilegeSetName )" in various scripts to base events on the PrivilegeSetName. After some frustration I created a log of login and logout which recorded the results of Get ( PrivilegeSetName ) and the timeStamp for loggin and loggout. Here is what I got. I'm running a d/b through IWP which allows users to select descriptions of modules associated with a particular Uni course from a list. The choices are placed in a portal for selective printing. Emptying the portlan when selecting a new course works fine in FM but not in IWP. Ideas? Thanks

I am login in to my computer through a domain account. When I try to turn on IWP I get an error message saying it could not be started. But when I get the SYS Admin to login locally using the admin account IWP it will start. How can I be able to turn on IWP while I am logged in using my normal user. Thanks B

I know the open URL script command doesn't work from browsers but read of a work around somebody used a long time ago. I have remote web clients filling in a form and commiting their record with a scripted button click. Problem is, whenever a new record is created I want FM to fire off an email to alert the DB admin that a new record has been created - but email generation is not actionable by the web client. Anyone got any ideas - just basic pointers - on how I can trigger an email whenever a web client makes a new record?

I have tabbed buttons that sit on a bar and when I use a form and a button for the user to navigate the database, the form makes the button lose it's position. I am thinking a link would make the design better. The form is: How would I translate the above in to a url link? Thanks in advance - Sam

Hello All, When someone clicks on a record in List view it, as we know, brings that record to the top of list and omits any records that came before it. In order to avoid this happening to my users, I've decided to try using a portal in Form view instead. I've opened the body part to display 20 portal records at a time (the body is approx. 3 in.). Everything works fine, except for one thing: I need to put a few buttons at the base of the portal, such as a Previous/Next. I put these buttons in a footer part. All looks fine except on the last page (viewing from the web), the buttons will show up somewhere below the last record in the portal, e.g. if there is only one …

Hi everyone. I'm well versed in sql and general database design, but I've just been handed a group of FP5 database files to upgrade to 8. The upgrade goes fine, and things work. I enable IWP so there can be web access. When using FM8 Pro on the machine, I can enter a "ClientID" on a Job ticket and it will automatically match that with the ClientID in the Clients table, and populate the data specified in the form. Works great using FM as the client. Oh, i'm currently using F8 Pro trial until our full version of 8 gets here (today), but shouldn't really matter I don't think. Got a strange problem with Filemaker advance 8. When trying to view a database connecting to IWP through http://127.0.0.1:80 I get a "The maximum number of users allowed to connect to this server has been exceeded". In Filemaker 7 it works without any problem. And the only user accessing is me (1 user). Any suggestion for what can be done?

Hello All, I've got a database on the web via IWP. Presently, I'm only providing to users a list view of the records. The problems I'm encountering are: 1) Clicking on a record brings it to the top of the list. From what I've seen on this forum, there is nothing I can do about this. That's just the way it is. But if someone can shed any light on a workaround, that'd be great. 2) If I have, say, 15 records in the list view and I click on the fifth record, that record will go to the top, but then omit any records that were above it (four in this case), so I'll end up with a list of 10. Is there any way to prevent a user connecting to my database via the web from timing out? I want the user to stay connected until they choose to log out, not automatically disconnected after a certain amount of time. First time poster here. I treid searchign before I posted, but did not find what I wanted (more like did not have the patence to look any longer). Anyway. Recently moved an entire conference registration system (900 students, 63 different events) from FMP 5.5 Unlimited to FMS7A (We will be moving to 8 soon). I liked how I could customize our web site with CDML tags to give advisors a clean listing of what events a student is in. Now in IWP, I cannot create that clean copy (My list before was Student name, than a Portal row for each event they are in and than the next student name and repeat). I need to link some pdf files on one server to the filemaker 8 program running on the same server. The only thing I can think of is creating a web server specifically to host the files on the internet, and then use a url link with each button in the portal to open the corresponding pdf file on the server. There isn't any other way of doing this on a windows machine is there? I can't link to the pdf's in windows storing their information, and you cannot dynamically create filenames for the open file command, that I could see. I'm kind of stuck at the moment as to what to do, I don't want to suggest to the client that they have to start up a webserver to share out these pdf…

The form works fine but if the user tabs to the next field instead of hitting return after entering a new value the database does not get updated. Hello - Anyone gotten FM-and-PHP (by schubec) to work with FileMaker Server 8? The documentation goes through version 7, so it's slightly different looking when going through the setup. For example, the FM-and-PHP PDF says to create a user and give their privilege set the "fmxml" exentded privilege. I did this, but I notice that FileMaker says "(FMSA only)". Is it not possible to get data from FileMaker via FM-and-PHP unless you have the "Advanced" server software? My company only has the regular flavor. I can't imagine why FileMaker would have removed the fmxml exended privilege set from version 8, since it was available in 7, unless they're just trying…

I'm trying to get rid of the "Bad Request, the server could not process your request because your session has timed out, been closed, or communication with the server has been lost..." message. Most of the time, this warning pop-up is displayed (on the browser's side) when the user didn't use the application for a predefined quantity of minutes, then tried to continue his work after his session has expired... No activity, so we are logging out the lazy users, that's a fine option and I'm OK with this behavior. In my company, we use IWP to allow salespersons to login to access information from anywhere. Users can actually see the port number in the browser address line ..something like :16080/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html. For security reason, I would like to hide the port number (in this case is 16080) so user has no idea what port they are connected to. Is there a way to hide it ?

We have been getting error code 20603 every day at about the same time of day. When this happens IWP publisher looses communication with the server. Reseting the IWP publisher from the console does not work. Most of the time I can not communite with the server though the admin console also. I have not been able to find anything that gives what this error code means. Does anyone know what the error code means and/or what is happending to cause this. I am suspecting that the time on the server is off by 13 hours because this is happening about 13 hours before the scheduled back-up time of the server. Hello All. I have configure Lasso 8.0.5 to work with FM Server Advanced. Everything seemed OK. In Lasso Admin, the Host is FM SA, the Database can be seen in the database list, but when I click on List Tables, I get the message No Table Found. I know that this topic has been discussed but to be honest I didn't understand any of the "solutions" presented. My question -- would upgrading from 8.0.5 to 8.1.0 solve this problem? The problem is - I don't want to have the IWP default page displaying all the databases available (I dont want the clients knowing about each other) BUT would rather have a custom web page for each client. I have an auto-enter calc audit field to track field changes, that works just fine when used from filemaker. However, when used via IWP, it behaves strangely: No field changes are tracked when creating a new record, except for a single field. No field changes are tracked when editing an existing record, except for a single field. The one field that is tracked, shows up multiple times in the audit log. I see either 4 or sometimes 8 copies of the edit, all of them showing the same change (field "X" was changed from "A" to "B"). I need to show images inside of IWP that are located outside of IWP on another server. In plain HTML I can show them using http://... but I am not sure how to get them to show up inside IWP? Any suggestions? Is there a Plug-in I could use?

I posted this somewhere tonight but can't find the post so maybe I didn't post all all - maybe elsewhere. So quickly here it is. My cable modem IP is, for example 99.98.97.96. My computer IP is 192.168.0.10. IWP is enabled for port 591. What do I do to allow my neighbor access to my db? 192.168.0.10:591 works fine inhouse for IWP shared db's but what is the path for outside access via 99.98.97.96? Hi, I currently have a simple but large (3 million records and increasing by 100,000/month) flat file database currently being published using FMP 4 and CDML. It's accessed by just one IP address and they use it to search for and download (via a link) about 200 scanned images each day. Records are located by searching on any of 4 fields, all of which are numeric. There is no record creation involved via the web. There is no other access to this database. I have a large database that has a single table ('Invoices') and the following fields: invoice_no account_no invoice_date type input_date I want to be able to search on any of the fields and display the results in a portal. I've created a self-join relationship between the 'Invoices' table and a new table occurance called 'Invoices_2'. The relationship is invoice_no = invoice_no When I do a search the results show fine in a standard list view, but the portal (showing records from Invoices_2 and set to display 25 rows) only displays 2 or 3 records per page. I responded to an earlier email and also reported a possible bug to FMInc re: FMP IWP not automatically going to the correct opening layout upon entering the IWP site even though file options and an opening script called for the initial layout. Now it seems as if the problem may be with the auto sessions IWP creates for users. Under certain circumstances or perhaps randomly (haven't figured yet), users entering the site come upon another user's record in a potentially different layout from which they should be seeing. It seems as if the separate sessions get comingled. Anyone else seeing this kind of problem?

I am trying to use IWP and I can access it from within our firewall and from outside of the firewall. Everything works great for about a day, but then it appears that the IWP program just exits because it doesn't show up in the task manager anymore. I have to completely shut down FMP and restart it and everything works fine again. IWP works for about 2 days but then it just shuts down again. Please help. Thank you.

I have a portal defined with 3 fields and 6 rows. When I add the master record, the portal first row is available. After I enter data into the third field of the portal's first row and press tab, instead of going to the next (second) portal row (does this in the desktop version), the cursor jumps out of the portal. I am unable to create another row (record) in the portal. This only happens in IWP. Am I right in saying that if I carry out a search that returns 100 matching records, the Get ( RecordID ) function would return 1 for the first record in the matching list, 2 for the second record in the matching list, etc. If so, I'm confused as this does not seem to be working on my database. Attached is a screenshot showing search results with the RecordNumber on the right hand side. I want to use the Get ( RecordNumber ) function to page the user through the results

Hi, I have a simple database (but big number of records - > 3 million) that is accessed (read only) by a client via the internet. I curently use FM3 and CDML on a NT Server and it has run fine for the last 3 years. Only problem is the maximum file size, so I'm converting it to FM7. So far everything working fairly OK. I can search the records via IWP and display the results in a list (not using a portal). The only thing I have noticed is that if (when viewing in IE) I click on any field, that record moves to the top of the page/list. I can imaging that this behaviour will confuse my clients. How can I stop this?

This time, it is the Spring Fever page. The content is being pulled from external pages that reference data from fileMaker. Check out the example business directory link. All that content, including the icons is generated based on the content in our database.

I have a report layout that is used to display records in a found set for users through IWP. The problem I am having is that this layout is only showing 5 records on screen, and only printing out these five records (five is all that will fit on a page), instead of all of the records in a found set. Is there any way to get all of the records show up at once? The users can not scroll through the pages because the navigation bar has been disabled for the users (and needs to stay that way).

Hi All, I'm trying to set-up a simple login with the code below on the response page. The code executes fine when the account and password are correct but blows out (does not echo "stuffed" or anything else I put in the 'else' section of the 'if' statement) when the account and password do not match. Howdy out there. I've got a science conference registration system running on PHP/FX, FMP7 Server Advanced. One of the functions is for people to add an abstract of their presentation. The page works fine when you type in the data. But when you cut and paste into one field, the new record or edit record functions fail. That field is the abstract itself, and the pasted text can be long. But length does not seem to matter. What does seem to matter is whether or not the pasted text comes from a formatted Word file vs. a text-only ASCII file. Cutting and pasting from the ASCII files works; no error. It appears that Google and Yahoo! don't search and index FileMaker IWP Web sites properly. Is there some way to modify the opening Java script so that the search engines will properly index the data base? Or is there something else which must be done?

This is becoming a nightmare. If do a Find over my client/server network it works perfectly. If I do the same Find via IWP it doesn't grab the first record in the series! It skips a lot of records before displaying them. I also do a record count of my find results, and that seems to be working properly. But there is certainly a problem displaying the find results.

I'm doing a search and it displays records, but not the ones entered in today. Ok well it is more difficult thant that. I created Previous and Next buttons such as: (Get(RecordNumber) -25 When I run my Find script it gets a list with everything sorted properly but leaves out some of the newer records....ones that start with the letter "A". The strange thing is if I hit my Previous button, it will go back up to 25 records and grab the ones it didn't display before. I've checked and both of the fields I"m searching on are indexed. Also, it works fine in FM Network mode. Just not over web!!!!

I have a problem that's bugging me. I have a large database, some of which is sensitive and I don't want the whole company to view it. Other tables are public knowledge, and I want users to be able to see the contents using IWP. Obviously, I don't want them to browse the entire database, so I have created a separate file with IWP enabled. To keep data integrity, this second file contains no data, but only the layout and scripts - it pulls all its data from the relevant tables in the master file. I registered a domain and I'm using a web-redirect service from No-IP.com so visitors can type in (for example) www.mydomain.com instead of an IP address to find my database. I also have URL masking turned on so that www.mydomain.com continues to show in the address bar instead of the host machine's IP. The problem I'm having is if I redirect straight to the database (bypassing IWP homepage) the IP address remains masked, but none of the buttons in my database work. If I redirect to the IWP homepage, I can select the database with a click and it works fine, but URL masking stops working. I don't know if this problem is specific to my service provider, (No-IP.com) but …

Hi All Complete muppet questions, complete novice at this: I've been handed about 120 fmp3 databases which we'e upgraded to fmp8. I now want to use IWP to make them visible across the intranet to the users through the browser. Is there any way of changing the web publish attribute for all of them in one fell swoop so they are all web visible (or is it a case of opening each one individually)? For many we dont have an owner who has an admin un/pw so cant open them to set that attribute - is there any way round this? thanks Steve

I have three layouts that use radio buttons in a database I am hosting with IWP. When using FM Pro, the radio buttons are all listed one per line in a neat-looking way because of how I sized the field containing them. However whe viewing these layouts online, they are sloppy looking. The options are not organised at all and fit as many on a line as possible. Does anyone know of a way to get them looking better through IWP?

I work in a cross platform environment. We have been passing filemaker files through the email system as attachments. We use a webmail system and I am finding that many of the FileMaker files coming through the system are damaged beyond repair. When investigating this problem I have found that different browsers yield different results. For instance if I use safari to download a filemaker attachment it will result in a corrupt database. But if I use Internet Explorer - it usually is successful. Has anyone experienced this type of behavior before?

I host a PHP Web site that is connected with FX.php to a FileMaker 8 Advanced data base. The database contain PDF stored in multimedia fields (fields that can contain files). I can make links to those files trough Web pages. Ex. My problem is not the layout of the check boxes, that has been thouroughly discussed, but that they will not stay checked. I have three different fields in my solution that are all having the same problem. To get around layout issues (another field needs to line up horizontally with the value list and check box) I have multiple copies of the field, each with a one-item value list. The problem is after the first box is checked and submitted a second item can be checked but on submit the check is removed. In some instances, previously checked boxes will be unchecked after submit as well. Of course it works perfectly in FMP 8, just not in IWP. I don't know if it is a f…

When in list view, with say 100 found records, IWP shows the records in blocks of 25. So.... 1) Is there a way to navigate to the next page of 25 records when the status area is hidden, in other words buttons on the page. 2) Is there a way to show that the user is looking at records 1-25 of 100 found records, again with the status area hidden. I know its possible to show all the records if i use a portal, but wanted an easier way to sort/find records

Hello, It seems like there should be a Simple solution to this but it's currently eluding me.... I have a multi-step process to fill out a record. The user inputs their info and clicks submit, which takes to a page to enter more info for the same record. However, the database naturally creates a new record for this second page instead of truncating it to the first. How do I tell it to use the first record, and how do I tell it which record to use?? Typical web sites allow guests to visit public areas without encountering a log-in dialog, but more privileged users can do more after logging in. Here is the challenge in FileMaker 8 IWP. If you give web privileges to any user other than Guest then everyone must encounter the login dialog, guests included. I'm trying to figure out how to close a FM Web database (using IWP in FM 7 Advanced Server) properly (using the Exit Application script) and have it close the current browser Window (or go to the different website besides the default IWP Database Homepage). Is it true that there's no way around this?

Hello, this problem just came out of the blue after months of having IWP working correctly. IWP all of the sudden "decided" to publish through the Local Area Connection through my Bluetooth Adapter(Local Area Connection 2). When I unplug the USB Bluetooth Adapter it goes Back to Local Area Connection 1, my actual LAN Netowrk. Ive clicked around preferences and options, and found nothing. Any Ideas? I am looking for the default home page on my comptuer to edit it. I have looked for the file iwp_home.html but it is not on my machine, yet IWP does work with the default page. I would like to customize the front page, but how do I do it? Help.

I have just learned how to supress the status bar at the log in when on IWP. Now I would like to set a script to log out of IWP. Can anyone provide me with help on this issue. I have some challenged people who can not remember to hit the log out button. Thanks

I need to print out records displayed online in a filemaker 8 database. Preview view and print are both disabled for online, so I am wondering how I can either print the record and not print the menu buttons on the side outside of the print area I set up. When you just print the webpage those buttons and fields show up. Thanks.

I am trying to serve IWP from FM8 on Tiger. I have DSL and am wondering the proper path for an external URL. Is it simply the public ip of the router (2wire home portal with port 80 open) or is there an additional path required.

Is anyone having problems with IWP navigating to the wrong opening layout upon a user logging in as a guest? I have both an opening script that navigates to the appropriate layout, and I have also set switch to layout... under File Options to automatically go to the appropriate layout. However, when one logs on to the site (guest/ no pw) the wrong layout comes up every so often. Mostly, the correct l/o appears. I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. FMP bug? FM 8 advanced, OS X.3.9 Help appreciated!

Hello All, I've looked over other topics on IWP and couldn't find similar topic so I'm positing this. I run the FMSA database over Mac OSX server, and clients access to it to create records over IWP. I've tested both IE and Safari (as well as IE on PC) that the database works over IWP. It works on my browasers, but there are clients who, on their browsers, they cannot press any buttons published over IWP. Nothing... Is this a problem on our side (which can be solved) or the web?
