Is there a plugin to decode a base64 image in Filemaker? I have an encoded image that I get from the internet that I would like to decode and place in a container field in Filemaker 6. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I can't find this anywhere. I'd like to be able to enter a date & time into two fields (probably dd-mm-yyyy & hh-mm or some such) & have FM open up a dialog at the specified date & time. It doesn't have to say anything specific, only to draw my attention to a particular contact, so that I can find that contact, check the contact report & carry out any action I've noted. Can anyone help with this?

Is there a Calender plug in that would take the delivery info from a record and make a weekly delivery task sheet? Or something like that. Okay, so I downloaded the Productive Computing File Manipulator plug-in. I thought that I would be able to use a plug-in from a script, using the External function to access the plug-in. When I went to write my script, though, I discovered that "External" isn't a script step. () So, you have to use it in a calculation somehow? What I want to do is this: take the contents of a field and, when the button is clicked, have the script create a new subfolder using the contents of the field as the name. I'm looking for a horn/buzzer/bell/whistle that can sound in response to a serial command (sent through Troi serial plug-in). This is for an application where a user will often scan dozens of bar codes in a row without looking at the screen or necessarily hear any error tones generated by the computer's speakers. I have a need to map drives and move files, and this works with clients, but doesn't when accessing the database through IWP. CAN Troi functions be used over an intranet ?

I am using the troi File Plug in to copy files from a disk, and then launch them, and then gather information from them but I am having some problems. I will only be doing this with .zip and .sit files. I copy down the file, and tr_Launch it, which is the same as double clicking on it, that then decompresses it, after that, I am going through the whole decompressed folder getting information about the files contained inside of it. My problem, is that My script runs faster than a file can decompress, as such, when I try to read it, i get a -43 error meaning the directory doesn't exist yet. I have a shared FMP 6 file that uses several windows. Is there a plug in that prevents users from moving windows and "dragging" them out of the way, only to have them need the window in the future and move it back rather than use the navigation buttons that are in the file? Thanks, Mike

I have been dormant in the FMP world for awhile (since about the release of FMP7) but have done hardcore development in the past, and have recently been called back into service to port some Mac solutions I did way back when into FMP7. In one of those solutions, I depended heavily on the doScript plugin to run scripts on users exiting fields. It appears as if doScript has not been updated for FMP7. Is this correct? Troi Activator seems to do this, but has many more features as well, and I consider it cost prohibitive for solutions with many users. What are developers using to run scripts on field exit in FMP7? Howeve,r the Curl-Shell plug-in only works in win2k/XP. I need one that works in windows ME. Basically, the curl one calls "cmd" when I need one that calls "command." Hello everybody! I have a problem with using EventScript for validation calc. On my machine it works fine, but when I put an application on customers machine, validation failed. I have a few similarly fields for validation. EventScript does not recognize a valid script parameter in triggered script. When I turn on debug, I saw that problem is on script parameter. EventScript, always takes a ScriptParameter for previous field. On both machine is FileMaker7, runs on Windows XP. Any suggestions? TIA

Scenario I want the user to be able to copy/move a file from one location to another without having to type in the file extention in the destination path. ie. .pdf .doc etc as they keep cocking it up and are then unable to open the file. Ive looked at various plug ins for file manipulation and they do not seem to offer a script that identifies a file type. Is ther a plugin that can do this or is there a way around it?

I have tried to uses the Troi Serial Plugin v2.5 with FileMaker 7 on Windows XP & 2000. With a dispatch script by name FM crashes when data is received. By key does not seem to work at all. The debug option will beep when data is received. The email I received from Troi said both should work but not to use the alternative method. Any ideas?

I hope somebody can help me with a problem I'm having with Troi Serial Plugin and runtimes created in V7 on Windows 2000/XP. The plugin is not officially compatible with FM7 and it doesn't look like it will be upgraded anytime soon. This plugin can automatically trigger a script when data arrives on the serial port. This triggering is done by envoking the plugin's function SetDispatchScript from within a script. This can be done using one of two methods, either by specifying the script's name, or the scriptkey (number of the script in the script menu, i.e. 3 if it's the 3rd script in the menu). i tested Troi's MountDisk script to mount a remote hard disk, but return a $$-36 error: I/O error (ioErr) / File System Errors(Mac) the script is Troi's example file - DiskMount.fp5. my platform: troi 2.8, Panther, filemaker 6 remote hard disk: windows 2003, it can be mounted by Finder when i mount this disk by finder, select Network->WORKGROUP->ROME(ServerName)->fileserv(DIskName), everybody can login. when i use the example script, fill the fields: Zone Name=WORKGROUP, Server Name=ROME, Disk Name=fileserv, and get $$-36. anyone please help me, tia.

Hello, I recently wrote and complied a plugin for FM6 on Mac 0S 10.2.8. I used Codewarrior 7. The plugin works fine on the machine I compiled it on. But when I move it to other systems such as Mac OS 10.3 or OS 9. I am unable to read the plugin. The system does not even recognise the type of file as a plugin. Can anyone help me with this? I was wondering if it was possible to use (interactive) flash (recent versions of it ) in Filemaker 7 (or 6). It think flash could be a good way to make a solution look aweful pretty. I'm building a multi-user system in FileMaker 7 and while I really appreciate being able to have multiple tables in a file and open multiple windows, I can't understand why FileMaker didn't add the ability to create dialogue box views in this latest version. I want to be able to pop open a window and prevent my user from accessing any other windows until he/she has performed a necessary task in this new window. I've looked at the Troi Dialogue plugin, but it seems very cumbersome to me. Hi Folks, I'm trying to create graphs from a found set of records in FileMaker. I've been researching different plug ins and other options and I'm wondering if anyone has input on which ones work best. I've found 2 plug ins (xmcharts, and oAzium Charts from Waves in Motion) and one solution from within filemaker (ChartMaker by Brian Dunning). Anyone have reasons that they prefer one of these options over the others? Hi all: I'm working on a solution using xmChart, which I've used a number of times before. However, I am trying to force xmChart to produce pie charts where the pie is always the same size. What normally happens is that the chart as a whole is a set size and, depending on the length of the labels, the pie in the middle is smaller or larger. I am currently working an a very elaborate algorithm to calculate the lengths and positions of all the labels, in order to set the chart to the right size. Has anyone done anything like this before? I have to use an online database to gather information of potential clients. The problem is that the database is not downloadable. Does anyone know of a script I can write that will go to the website, copy information from the site and then paste it inot the appropriate field in filemaker?

I just upgraded Dacons MenuControl from 1.5 to 2.0. I'm running Windows XP and FM 6. I now notice that the little Status popup at the bottom of the screen is available to the user (a definite no-no for me), even with Toggle Status Area(Hide) enabled. I'm trying to get the auto update plugin to update my xmCHART plugin using Server 7v2 on OS X with OS X clients. I have renamed my xmCHART plugin to "xmCHART.fmplugin", and made a tar file out of that for the server's auto update folder. The local version check correctly returns 'xmCHART 2.2.2' (or blank if it's not there,) and the remote version check correctly returns '2.2.4'. But the download returns an error -1, which the Auto Update paper says is "The file to be downloaded is missing from the temporary folder." I don't know what this error means. Hi- I just received the Developer 7 version, and I was very pleased to see the StartScript external function. It seemed like a good way to add trigger like functionality, but I am at a bit of a loss to figure out a way to pass any context with the script invocation. It would seem to me that this function would be really good if you could also set up the script parameter when calling it. I'm looking for some software or a plug-in that will 'watch' a folder for changes. I know Folder Actions will notify you of Adds and Deletes but it ignores Modified files. The software has to be able to call an AppleScript with a list of the added, deleted or modified files so I can do some processing withing FMP. I posted this in the AppleScript topic list as well.

I've found quite a nice bunch of plugins that retrieve file and folder listings. Lauch.it 2 and File Manipulator. Launch.it 2 is almost there but what I want to do is beable to create a tree listing of the directory so instead of listing all the files you can as with any file explorer display folders. Hi Guys, Just want to know whether any of you out there use any of the menuplugins? Im looking at MenuControl2 or SecureFM with MenuMagic so that I can change the menus at the top of FileMaker. Im leaning towards MenuControl2 simply because its cheaper, but what are the main differences between the two? One thing I dont like about MenuControl2, is the fact that I need to run a menu script everytime I open the file, I have a 30 file solution and this can get quite messy, anyone found this a problem? Please help! We have a script that uses the SMPTit plugin to send emails. We've been having an intermittent problem with the user receives the following error: communication with the host was interrupted and could not be re-established (-20). We're running FMP Server on a Windows 2003 server. Our users have windows XP and run FMP 6. The user then has to exit FileMaker. Usually once they get back into FMP and try the email again, it works. Sometimes the email works on the first try. They're beyond frustrated with the function. I have been trying to figure out a way to print from IWP using a plug-in to call a script. I have tried waves in motions events plugin as well as troi's activator plug-in to try and run a script when a new record is created, or when a field is activated. So far no luck. With IWP you have to create a new record and then use the commit record script step for the info to be saved in FM. However even though a new record is created the plug-in does not fire off. Well, I'm implementing MenuBar lockdown (removes FM menu bar and disables all FM menu functions, including windows controls). I'm having a blast with it but I have a problem ... Sometimes we want to minimize FM to see the desktop. I can script minimize but (of course) SecureFM refuses to maximize again. Dead end. The same is true for clicking on windows taskbar Show Desktop - it minimizes FM but then SecureFM refuses to allow restore. And a script with Maximize is ignored because FM is no longer active. I want the full MenuBar removal (0|0) but I want HotKey or some way (available to Users) to restore the window. This is only for full minimize FM. I don't…

I know this is a lot to ask of anyone writing plug-ins, but has anyone here ever seen a plug in that can return data from Mapquest or Yahoo Maps, or a simnilar service, based solely upon zip code? Our database manages thousands of kids across the country who promote musical acts for us and when accepting new members, we try to accept the ones who are close to major cities, not in the middle of West-Jabib so when someone lives in a city we have never heard of, we have a quick launch button on the screen that opens Mapquest in a browser window, but then we have to manually enter the zip code to find exactly where they live. Hi everyone, I have used the example plug-in in Developer 7 to trigger scripts upon exiting a field and it works well for my purposes. My question is, is there a way to use a script parameter with it. Being as the script is triggered after the field is exited I cannot attach a parameter to the field, or can I? I'm currently looking at writing my own plug-in for FileMaker 7, but I'm having difficulties converting parameters (passed to a function) into type const char*. Essentially, I'm trying to do this: const char* MyChar = dataVect.AtAsText(0); I've tried using static_cast, creating local fmx::TextAutoPtr variables as intermediaries (variable->Append(...)), etc, but have had no luck after hours of trying. In addition, it's unfortunate that there is a lack of documentation from Filemaker as to what the methods for their classes actually do. I've posted this in a different forum, not realizing this forum existed. Does anyone know of a plugin that will act as a font substitution table. I have given up on some of my layout choices because I can't always be sure what fonts are going to be loaded on the various user stations that access my file. Whenevery they access it filemaker not only replaces the font with one of the fonts loaded on the user machine, it makes the change directly to the file. The original font choice is lost. I need something like the font substitution tables found in desktop publishing products. Does one exist?

This question has been asked before, but the responses are old and perhaps there are new plug-ins available (especially with the onset of FM7). Any recommendations for sending Faxes and sending E-mail? Specifically I'm looking at a solution to send out a single fax at a time, though batch faxing would be a plus. For e-mail this would be sending out both single e-mail messages and to a large e-mail list. I don't need one soultion that does both. Does anyone else have any problems with Auto Update and Filemaker 7? I have put the AutoUpdate Example file that comes with FM Server into the Data directory, and the plugin into the AutoUpdate directory and then connected to it from a client and clicked the "AutoUpdate" button. Then, the client looks almost frozen for a minute and it returns -1 under the Remote_Versions field. I tried it on other plugins I have and none of them work. Hello, I'm a newbie and I'm still learning the functions of Filemaker. What I'm trying to find out now is how to trigger an event (like running a script) after entering data to a specific field? But I've read from other posts in the forum that says triggering a script on field exit is only possible using a plug-in. I tried the example-plugins from www.filemakerpros.com but I think it only works for Filemaker 7 and I have Filemaker 6. So is there a free plug-in about triggering an event on field exit that works for Filemaker 6?

I have setup ODBC and have connected to the MS SQL database. The importing of the records went fine... manually. I am still very confused on how FM7 imports data automatically from the SQL server. I assumed this plugin would help... maybe it does and I am just sorely confused. My definition of "duplicate" is inherently loose - it tolerates a certain amount of discrepancy due to abbreviations, typos, and omitted info, as well as discrepancies due to a change of address.
