Hi there, i just wondering, i already see on other Database System, you have the possibility to use short key, one i will always remember is the key F9 for doing a search, i think it's realy quick done a search with the keyboard if we compare to the mouse.     Good Morning, I am new to this bulletin board and fairly new to FileMaker Pro. Here's my problem. I want to create a script to do the following: Read through my master database file looking for only open records. Then read through a diary file (which could contain many or no records). I want to list every master record that has 1) no diary records and 2) any master that has a diary record that does not have a date greater than today. I'm sure this is an easy question for most of you pros, but I am stumped. I've tried finding only the open records then looping through the related records without much luck. Can someone help?     We have a simple products database. We do a lot of searches by product name. Here is an example. Name: Panasonic AYDVM83MQ If I do a search for " 83MQ " I get an error stating "No records match this request" This happens for all sorts of searches. It will find it if i search for "AYDVM83MQ" but no one is going to remember that much of the name. Is this a fault in the database? It seems that it should find it. Any help would be great. thank you.

    Secretary gets checks. We want to enter into a multiline search as: Invoice# (space) CompanyName (space) Amount ..then cr then enter next check to search for Sometimes we know one, two or three things. This would allow her to enter all checks to search for In one whack instead of individually. Then display all found in a portal that she can select to apply payments. I created a text calculation putting these three together to use for the search but I don't know how to take a multiline and put into the search.   7. I have a file that has an id field. This id field is a number that is unique as in a bar code. These tables are fairly straight-forward in that one hold a price for service,by service provider,location and region. Depending on the category, I've got a layout to enter the details related to that category. Now I have to find all the people in groups 1-4 and 2-5 and 1,2,4,5 and etc. I have pulled all the people in groups 1 thru 4 and 2-5 very easily - using the range feature: find 1...4 and find 2...5 and all but the 2s using 1...>2, but what formula would I use to eliminate the 3s and another search to elimite the 4s.     I have a group of records that I imported. And I messed up. and it's too late to use the backup and do it again because I no longer have the file which contains the import records. I imported invoices from another program into our new FM invoicing system. Boss wanted to capture the data. They ended up being one field off partway through the map. Me bad.   18. I'm doing a search in a db with 600.000 records, on multiple fields. This works, but is bit slow, because FM is searching the wrong/difficult fields first. (they are all indexed b.t.w.) Example: The db has the fields "place", "street", "number_from", "number_to". If I do a search on a specific place and street, I'll get about 5 records in a time I can't even blink with my eye's.     I wrote a script to go to a specific screen to conduct a find. If no records are found FMP takes the user back to the original layout but not to the record the user started from. A blank screen appears. Is there anything I can put in the script to have the user returned to the record from where they started? The user cannot altered the fields on the screen that they are viewing so the find function is stored in a button that takes the user to a screen where they can access all of the fields to key in search criteria.     I have two files, Schools and Students, joined by a one-to-many relationship on a field SchoolID. I am performing a Find on the students on some given criteria, and now I want to list all the schools with these found students. Go To Related Record seems close, except I need to show all schools that have any of the found students, not just the current school for a single student. One way I can think of is to have a global repeating field for found_school_ids in the Schools db, and then do a Find for any schools whose SchoolID is in that repeating field...     I'm trying to write a script that will perform a find on the next entry in a value list. For example, if my layout has a field on it called "Name", and that field uses a value list called "Names", and the Name in the current record is "Joe", I want to launch a script that will perform a find on the value immediately following "Joe" in the value list.     I want to do a find operation on a related field that is not empty (in combination with 2 other requests). The field is a validated number field for max. 10 characters. When I fill in the "*" symbol or "@" symbol in find mode, it validates on that character, I get an error and I cannot perform the find operation. As a workaround, I check the omit box and fill in "=" (empty field). Is there another way? Because I have the impression that finding with 3 requests: 2 "Match" and 1 "Does not match" (Omit check box checked) is slower than 2 "Match" requests.     Here is my situation: I have a script that goes to a layout and enters find mode. I have set error capture on, and any result that is not "0" should cause a return to the original layout with a general error message. However, one of the fields is from a related database and is a numeric field and is set to not allow an empty field. If I try to use a "*" to search fory any entry, I just get an error that data needs to be entered here (this does not happen if it is left blank in find mode, which is ok).     In our PO data base we have over 4000 files that have all switched to the same PO number. Is there any way that a script could get corrupted so that it would change all of these files? Or is there anyway that someone could have done a search and then a global find change? Is a global find change even possible??     Hi guys, This is my problem, i have a script which loop thru all records to find the checkboxes, if any record is unchecked it will retrieve that record and list it out onto the list page. It has been workin fine(retrievin all the right records)till i added a function which allows users to go back to the record page by clicking on the results. My data base has more than 9,000 orders in it, and what I would like to do is get a display for how many times a customer has placed an order. I can use count of records which gives me a return of how many times a particular customer has placed an order and display it in the summary preview mode, but I can not figure out how to then sort the list by number of orders, so I kow which customers are placing the larges volume of orders. The procedure set out in the FM Help is of no use (I assume because of the imports without re-doing the whole process each time. I have a script step to find duplicates using search "!" in the relevant field. On some keyboards, users can select files numbers, in the index window, quickly from the "number keyboard" (the right hand side of the keyboard), some other must select the file number with the shift + number (top of the keyboard). I cannot explain on which criteria it depends (some keyboards are OK, other are not). I do not have this problem on Mac. Do you have the same problem ?   83. I am scripting a Find process to find all customers whose maintenance expires next week, next month, etc. This part is easy and I have scripts that perform these queries and work. However, when there are no results for the Find, FM displays the 'Modify Find' message box and the user has to either click 'Modify Find' (Bad for me) or 'Continue'. How can I suppress this message so it doesn't display? For example, if it does not find any customers who expire this week, I want it to popup a message saying 'No Customers Expire...etc' and return the user to the previous screen. They would like the attendance sent to a dedicated file where it can report and flag who has been missing for a while so they can contact them.     I am getting to the end of a long process of writing a solution and have an annoying (but no doubt simple) bug that I just can't resolve. The problem is that when copying and pasting text (from and to my policy text field) between files, I keep getting an unwanted string of numbers that I believe represent the field contents from some time ago when I had the field formatted as a repeating field.
