MirrorSync by 360Works

I bought last mont a MirrorSync 3.17 I am using it with FileMaker Server 14 running on macOS. It has been working as expected until I included 5 more tables yesterday. Then, I got a message that says: “FileMaker has a limit of 32,768 script steps. This script contains 35,665 steps, which is 8% too large” (Please see the enclosed file). I am using JDBC (not XML). Is there any work around for this situation? I need to synchronize all the tables of my solution. I need a solution!

Hello, I am finding that since 8/Feb/17 are showing with the client name as me! Obviously, not all the clients were actually my copy of FMPA on a Windows machine. Could I ask where this data is received from so I can see if there is some default somewhere from initial development testing? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Lewis

Hi, I've had mirrorsync3 running for a month with regular successful synching in that period. Suddenly the user got the attached error two weeks ago and we've not had a successful sync since then. I've got a solution that has about 280 GB of externally stored container files. As such, I want container fields to sync only one direction (client->server) but everything else I'd like bi-directional. Do I need to make two routines to accomplish this? One bi-directional routine that utilizes layouts with all but container fields. A second one-way routine that utilizes layouts with the containers? Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Trying to set up mirror sync for the first time using FM15 Pro (Not advanced). I have got past the set up of where the database is, the issue is when I try and set up the , as I don't have Advanced I have to import the MirrorSync.xml file directly, when I click continue I get an error that says, 'XML/XSL information is not enough to proceed with import/export', no matter where I put this file it fails. Any body had this? and what did you do to get round it?, be great if I could get rid of this sooner rather than later.

Installed mirrorsync 3.17 build 9239 on a Linux machine, connected to FMS 12 on Mac OS X using XML. All is well until I start to setup my first initial sync job. I copied and pasted the MirrorSync Table just fine. But then, the copy scripts step throws a java.lang.NullPointer.Exception error. Just out of curiosity, the third step - of copying the mirrorsync Layout would also work fine, but I'm not going there until I got the copy scripts step done. We have iPads on slow/shaky internet. They regularly fail to sync and this is not entirely unexpected. We get the error message: Unexpected response from MirrorSync server: The message is blank after the colon as you can see in the attachment. I have instructed the users to "Report Bug" mainly so that you might get a log and be able to identify the actual cause of the failure for us. Please let me know if I can provide more info. Thanks!

Hello, I am evaluating mirror sync for my company and have some questions about the script personalization. I created some rules for syncing successfully, but my problem is that if I need to change the rules it does no work and I need to make another initial sync from a new file which is very long in my situation. Is there a way to initialize the rules ? Is there a way to create some personalize rules for pull up and push up ? Now if I clearly understand, the personalization sync will ever push up to the server but only pull up according to our rules ? thanks in advance !

We are syncing quite a few tables and use filters in the customization script to reduce the amount of records to be synced. We want to start syncing the relevant projects, then only the relevant phases of these projects and then only the relevant tasks of these phases ... We Sync with 3.17 and we have a big problem. the employees works with their iPads to sell products and every day they create several contracts and sync that to the server. every contract got a specific contract number/contract id calculated on the iPad and it is the personal-id & 99 & next consecutive number. 99 stands for iPad in that case on the server this field is simply a number field without any calculation to get the same number as it is on the iPad. but the number is very different. the number doesn't have anything to do with any number transfered within syncing. for example Mr. King with his personal id 772 creates a new contract wi…

Currently I am serializing some params via Let notation from spoke to Hub but I would like to pass back some metadata also. If I wanted to script a mobile device update process, is it possible to directly access the download link and not have to go through the intermediate trigger page?. I tried to install MirrorSync 3.17 today on a MacOS with 10.12.3 and FMS 15.0.3.308. The installer is hanging at about 80% progress at "Running package scripts..." Is there an installer log file that I can examine? I have created a self signed certificate for FMS and I get an error that web publishing is not activated. I've tried to follow the procedure described in your site for self signed certificates but I get an error in command prompt that the keytool command is not recognized.

My use case is such that mobile users need some records that have containers. The hub has containers stored externally. Deploying to the mobile device breaks the container. Hi, I occasionally have problems when users gathering data overseas have poor/intermittent internet connections. We sync a lot of data between server and laptops and sync can take a long time. In certain situations the network connectivity cannot be sustained to enable a full sync. To workaround these unusual situations would the following scenario work: 1. User zips remote copy of solution and uploads to Dropbox. 2. User downloads new copy of solution and continues work. 3. "Error from server: Index: 0, Size: 0" - This error now comes up whenever a sync is attempted. It began after the configuration was changed to include a table that previously was not being sync'd. - The client iPad still is using the previous version of my file. The error is coming up when attempting to sync before replacing the iPad file with an updated copy from the server. I understand that MirrorSync 2.305 is probably no longer supported but we won't update before a few weeks and I have a problem that may be simple. I have added a script in the POST-SYNC HUB ACTIONS section of the MirrorSync customization script but it does not seem to be executed. I am attempting to update a field for a few records on the server. The script is simple and looks like Go To Layout MyTable Replace Field Contents [No dialog;myfield;newcontent] I sync and the MyField values are never modified. Am I missing something ?

I have a problem with synchronization of numeric fields, if the value is an integer number it syncs properly but if the number is a decimal it becomes a zero. I think the problem is that i use the comma as decimal separator ( i live in Italy ) but i can't find a way to solve the problem other than converting the fields to text fields. Hi, Using a Windows 2008 R2 Server and at the end of the installation stage the following message was displayed... "Installation worked but Web Server forwarding is not working. You will need to access MirrorSync at the direct connect URL: http://127.0.0.1:42424/MirrorSync" I had this problem with v1.5 and worked around it by changing some configuration settings in IIS. However, these don't seem to work the same way with v2. Installation on another server that appears to be identical went without a problem and is running fine but there must be something different about this one. Any ideas? Thanks Andrew

Hi I've a problem with every sync. Even the first one on a newly download file. "Sync done, The sync took 41 seconds. 1 alert : Error while closing audit log" and then i have an alert with every change in my file example with the picture attach. Hi, If a link to download a database is disabled is that action permanent, or can the URL be reactivated? As a feature request...It would be useful to have a way to temporarily suspend the URL for database downloads, and present a customized message to users who try to use it during that time. For example, if scripts or layouts are under development the developer could use this feature to present a message such as "Downloads temporarily suspended during development. Please come back tomorrow morning" to a remote user who tries to download a new copy of the database. Thanks, ft.

We have recently released versions 3.14 - 3.16 of MirrorSync with improvements for recovery mode, high-volume syncs, and rebuilding sync data. Overall, the reliability of MirrorSync has greatly improved, and the speed of SQL and server-to-server syncs have increased significantly! Hello We are going to take the plunge and setup a sync between our Oracle tables and 'shadow' FileMaker tables and we're seeking input. One thing we are wondering about is a 'one-way' sync. We don't want changes to be sync'd back to Oracle. The bigger issue is that we don't want deletions in the Oracle table to be deleted in the FileMaker table. There often are children to these records we don't want deleted or orphaned. As well, are there any gotchas we should consider? The configuration tool explained that the MirrorSync table and scripts were obselete and I needed to copy in the new ones, however, upon copying the scripts I get the attached error message. Copying the table and layout works fine, but not the scripts. It also worries me slightly that the application window title shows as '360Works MirrorSync Configuration: null' - is this a concern? We had a technician run a recovery on a damaged spoke file and sync it to the server. I've now replaced it with a new clone and ran an initial sync for his system. MirrorSync console is now showing that it is "Resolving and writing conflicts" but it has been doing this for more than an hour. I've never noticed this during a sync process and am wondering whether I should allow it to continue and keep my fingers crossed or stop the sync and try to start over again. We're running MirrorSync 2.50702. Thanks, Craig

I just updated all the IDs in my solution to use UUIDs due to issues I was having with duplicate IDs. I am confused about how auto-enter calculations (that replace existing values) work with MirrorSync. My question: How is the value in a field with an auto-enter calculation (that replaces an existing value) different when the field is specified as the primary key field in the MirrorSync configuration versus when it is not? Does the value get changed during synchronization depending on if a global field is referenced? Hi, I recently switched to using a symlink for MirrorSync to a thunderbolt SSD drive to maximize r/w speeds on my OS X server. I restarted the server for the first time today since making that move. After the restart I launched MirrorSync Config Client but my configuration was blank. The window asking for the software registration key was open and unpopulated. I restarted the server a couple more times with the same results. Finally I decided to stop/start just the MirrorSync App using Applications/360Works Admin.jar and fortunately my config and registration returned. We are running MirrorSync 2.50702 and FileMaker 14 Server on a Windows VM. Everything has been working fine, but for some reason the MirrorSync e-mail notifications have suddenly stopped. I haven't found any errors or signs of other problems, the FM Server notifications (sent via SMTP server) have been fine. There haven't been any changes to server or firewall that would have blocked port 443 (that I know of). I saw the post from 2015 giving instructions for modifying the MirrorSync.xml file and using an SMTP server, but am wondering if there is anything else I should check. Is there a way with MirrorSync 3.1214 to only reset ONE table of many without having to reset the entire configuration? The sync is FileMaker Server (hub) to MySQL (spoke). The table has over 100K+ records, is synced bidirectionally, record counts are filtered by SQL, and keys are managed by MirrorSync. Reset of the entire configuration is not an option as it will require re-syncing related data that is over 50GB+. The current issue is that the MySQL end has more records than they are flagged in FMP to be synced. Hello, In order to attempt to fix a small problem in our FM Go application, I would like to be able to reset the sync data on the Go Client so that MirrorSync effectively sees it as an initial sync and therefore res-syncs all necessary data. Hi guys Synch is running beautifully, really fast. We're able to sync every 120 seconds, so our Financial Data Warehouse is effectively real-time. Now it's been running a while I do have one suggestion that I would find helpful. When I have data type conversion errors - typically converting string to decimal - it would be really useful if the error message on the MirrorSync app window would tell me which table and primary key. As it stands when these errors happen I know that there's a data type issue, but need to dig through the log files to find which table and record. Hello We have had situations where a record has been deleted from the Hosted database and then reappeared. I've chalked this up to a client getting into Recovery Mode. That Spoke still has that record and so for safety's sake, MS will recreate that on the hosted side. Does that reasonable? If so, what *will* put a Spoke into Recovery Mode? If any sync fails, does the next sync put them into RM? Do they stay in RM until they have a successful sync? If that is so should a Spoke then seek to have a successful sync *as soon as possible* to keep Recovery Mode from putting records 'back' that were deleted? i.e. the longer a Spoke has a Failed sync 'pending' the longer…

The customization script explicitly states "This customization script is IGNORED when using JDBC. " Can I add a 'Perform script > Script on server' step at the end of the MirrorSync script to be run on clients only? Hi All, In the process of rolling out our solution under the Filemaker SDK so it will appear more like a "native" iOS app. One of the things I want to include this time around is a way for our users to update the app. Currently looking at this process which basically adds another filemaker file, exports all the records from the old file to the new one, and then deletes the old file. Hello We are monitoring the /Library/360Works/Application/logs/Mirrorsync.yyyy-mm-dd.log file to understand what/where our server is at. We currently have 6 spokes syncing but they are apparently not getting anywhere. We see a recurrence of the below over and over again. Of course the IP address is just one of the 6. Hi, Is there a recommended procedure for backing up MirrorSync Server installations in case of, say, serious hardware failure? I can see reinstalling and reconfiguring can be done fairly painlessly, but it seems possible data collected on remote clients may become orphaned if the original MirrorSync Server data cannot be recovered. I have a separation model setup that is working fine. I followed the directions, and the Mirrorsync Table was created in the Interface file but was moved to the Data file. MirrorSync scripts and layouts remained in Interface file. Hi all, I m stuck with the "Error 802: Unable to open file file" error with 360Works MirrorSync. I have duplicated my .fmp12 database. Restarted FM Server 14. I see my database under the Activity / DB tab in the Admin console. All serviced are actives including XML. I have double check the security options for All Privileges form my user admin account... but I still get this error 802 after I choose my new database from the MirrorSync / FileMaker Server screen. What is the best practice for retrieving the last sync timestamp? I want GO users to be aware of how much time has elapsed since their last sync as a reminder to sync often. I know the timestamp lives on the MirrorSync table, but I would have to make a new occurrence of the MirrorSync table and relate it to all the tables that have layouts that contain the timestamp which seems awkward. If I can get a timestamp of the last sync in a global field, I can run it through a custom function that outputs the time ago in words (e.g. 3 hours ago, or 5 minutes ago, etc.), and put it on my interfaces.

I believe this is a FileMaker error, passed thru by MirrorSync. Seems there's a FileMaker Server (15.02 under 10.12) corroborate? And how's the best way to shutdown MS 3.11006? I have ghost connections I can't, but believe I should, terminate. Thanks, Mark

Recently added new fields to the database in Filemaker 13 that is being synched to our Ipads. Ran setup in mirrorSync and copy and pasted the script into filemaker. Have done this in the past without issues, now we are not getting any errors and the new fields do not synch.

Hello there, I'm just investigating on 2 issue I have on sync 2 DB, 1 on the server and 1 on the iPad that are set to use a Spoke Db in the middle tier. Basically the sync is set to copy ALL the data from some tables on the server to the local db and send some data from the local db to the end server db. For some reason, on a large table, called Articles, with more than 130k records, the sync does not copy all the record for some users. There is no 'filter' based on user on the end db, and I run a pre-populate sync on the spoke db that copied all 130k records. When the sync is run for that specific user, the final result on the iPad is that the sync DELETES 12k …

Can I use MirrorSync to Sync two servers and then use a serial number to generate the invoice number on only one of the servers. If I only allow users on Server 1 to use the feature for generating an invoice with a serial number and prevent users that connect to server 2 from using the script that generates new invoices. Hi, Can the tabbed part of the MirrorSync Layout be moved out into the grey area to the right of the layout so it's not seen by the user? I know there are a couple of 1x1 pixel web viewers and I guess they would remain on the layout. I keep receiving the message "java.sql.SQLException: You must supply a host address" during the configuration of my solution. I select the separate mobile, enter the credentials and select the mobile file, then I get a message telling me about an older MirrorSync table that needs to be replaced. I've followed the instructions and removed all MirrorSync scripts, layout, table, occurrence and any external data source references. Select "Next" and up pops the error message. After upgrading to MirrorSync 3 from 2, I can no longer sync container fields. During the reconfiguration process, I get the tooltip in the uploaded image below. The tooltip says "Neither field is writable. This could be because they are calculation or summary fields. It could also be caused by field-level validation or custom access privileges.". These container fields are not calc or summary fields. There is no field level validation or custom access privileges that I know if. They are full access, and the fields have not changed since my last MirrorSync 2 configuration. Please help!
