Hello! This is maybe very simple but I can't activate the plug in for web publishing in preference/plug in tab???, maybe that's why I can't open my filemaker pro file in my web browser, I already activated the option in sharing network and sharing in web publishing option but nothing!!! The plug in is already in the folder of extensions of the filemaker application FM Pro 9 Advanced. I was reading all the documentation in electronic documentation but I can't find anything also. I'm working with FM Pro 9 Advanced for PC windows XP help please! Thanks BluiSh

I have ported a filemaker solution to function via IWP using iPhone Safari. Does anyone have any experience with getting tooltips working when viewing an IWP page on the iPhone. The tooltips work fine on a computer browser, but I can't get them to come up on the iPhone. I have tried tooltips attached to fields, buttons etc. I have seem tooltips work on other websites when viewed on the iPhone, but I suppose the tooltip method may be different. If anyone has any solutions or ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hello This problem that i have is related in some way with my last post, I have 2 machines connected to a regular clabe modem given to me by my ISP, the main machine with my file has an ip address: 192.168.1.65, the other machine is connected via internet remote card to the same cable modem, this machine has the ip: 192.168.1.64. I already shared with the Internet option the main file and try to access via web browser with the second machine and doesn't work, I already checked and set the port 90 because is not possible with 80, so I set port 90, in my web browser I type http://192.168.1.65:90 the address that gives me the file of the main computer and gave an …

I only want IWP to work for one of my databases not all of them. I looked for settings in the server admin console but could not find a way to change it. Is there a way for me to make IWP work with only the database that I want and exclude the rest?

A database solution has been created and setup on OS9 system on Filemaker Server 8. The solution uses IWP and allows users to access the database using web logins. I need an interface that allows users to continue using the IWP interface and at the same use a link to produce an HTML export of data that concerns them. I tested a theoretical setup on Windows XP system by creating a DSN for the filemaker database on filemaker 9 client and used PHP's standard ODBC to access the database. I have an existing FM10 DB and I have put together a new layout that I want a web user to run reports from. The layout works fine in FileMaker, but when published through IWP it does not allow you to enter any fields though a mouse click. If I go to the IWP status area and click "Edit Record", the fields become "enterable" and my scripts can use this data and work fine. My question: Is this expected behavior or have I forgotten to do something when launching this layout? I should add that my goal is to not use the IWP status area (Hide/Lock) and the only thing keeping me from accomplishing this goal is this issue.

ok, i have never tried iwp before but thought that i might give it a shot....i set up the database to be shared via iwp, and then connect to it from my computer at the house (gotta love logmein!) but when i hit the ip that the database gives me, all it says on the page is "it works!" what am i doing wrong? i quickly read through the instant web publishing guide from fm, but it's saying that all i have to do is type in the web address that the database gives me and it will take me to a page that has my database link in it.....i'm not getting that.

How can I force IWP to log out a user if the user simply closes the browser window without completing the scripted process? I have the status area hidden and locked with a tightly scripted solution. This is for the public to use as an event registration system, so I can't count on training the user. I'm sure this is a common problem, but I couldn't find a topic in the forum.

Hey there all, I'm trying to decide if grabbing smartpill is the right thing for me to do. I have no initial knowledge of PHP but I would like to have my solution hosted online. I have found that I will have to spend some more time learning about how to display my reports properly when viewing online. I would like the ability to print those reports and would probably like to have them come up as .pdf files. Uploading files I also something I would like to do and I already knew I could do that with some PHP code. I have had this issue with IWP since I started using it. It occationally will throw a record in list view to the top of the page. The defect lasts for the life of that particular record. I have found no commonalities between the records which are chossen to display at the top of the page. I just tested Chrome and Firefox and neither of them do this just IE. However Chrome is slow (for FM IWP) and Firefox doesn't display the appropriate fonts and most importantly IE is the standard here for those who will be using this. I just noticed something: When I go to modify field contents there seems to be a pause and the status area shows I'm editing, shows "current record" and is waiting for a submit step. (displays a button to submit) I dont think Ive noticed this before. Does that sound correct? Have I overlooked something?

When you open the file on the Instant web publishing, can you have it open in certain ways based on privilege set? For instance, I know that you can have a script to execute when the instant web publishing opens but I dont know how to make the if-then statement work with privilege sets

If I want to publish a database on line, do I need to add other programmes to it or write some PHP script. I have used Dreamweaver to set up web sites but never a Filemaker database. What I am asking is, do most hosting sites take a straight Filemaker 10 Database or do I have to enhance it. I have looked through all the books and data I have, and they all seem to assume one would know all of this.

Here is what I am trying to do. I am currently at a page where I have a recordset of items. Each of these items have a field called SubCategory2 which is the category they fall under. I am trying to add all the SubCategory2s that are the same so I can display something like Ladder Racks(3), Ladder Racks being the subcategory and 3 being the number of items with that subcategory. I've recently switched my clients from accessing my application through FMP to using IWP. Obviously, I had to make changes, and one was that I could no longer use the Send Mail script step. At first, I used a table that would store all e-mail requests, and a FileMaker "slave" that constantly checked the table for requests, and handled them with a Send Mail script step. That worked fine, but my client preferred the old way, where it would open up the mail client. So, I switched to mailto. Hi all, I am trying to create a login page and require the users to log in using a username and password. Once a user entered the username and password, I would use that username and password to login, do a find and return the result (does not know any other way to do it). Once the result is return, I can check the errorCode for 0 to see if the user login successfully or not. However, the main problem is that if a user entered the wrong username and password, and I used: $errorcheck = $ReturnedData['errorCode']; to check for the error code, it does not seem to work. The php page would stop parsing right at that line. I turned on error debug …

I have a user that uses a large font in the browser when using a database via IWP. A result of this is that the "Logout" button at the bottom of the status area pane is not visible, and not accessible due to the lack of a scroll bar for that pane. Please turn on scrolling either always, or when the content to display in the status area pane exceeds the amount of screen space available. I have tried this myself using FireFox 3.5 on Windows 7. The client dropdown on this forum hasn't been updated to allow for Windows 7.

Is there a way to determine if a user is accessing my database by either iwp or filemaker? Reason is: I would like to only have one user name and password for each of my users. Depending on how my users are accessing the database (either iwp or filemaker)I will use my "opening script" to send them to either my iwp layout or standard layout. Any suggestions?

FM Server Advanced 10: I have placed a custom iwp_home.html in Library/Filemaker Server/Web Publishing/IWP. It works fine but for one problem: None of my images or graphics will display. They are all in the same folder as the html file and when double clicked there it displays fine. However, when I open the page from another machine, the graphics are not displayed. Why are the graphics not being served up?

In IWP, when doing a Find. How can i get a prompt that tells me if there are no record matches found. It works in FMP but not in IWP.

I have a number of databases running on FM Server 9 Adv. and have been accessing them online for about a year. I recently purchased a Blackberry phone and found that when I tried to view the site with the phone browser, when the IWP page loaded, it went immediately to the exit screen. We tried it on several IWP sites supported by this server with the same results. Conventional web browsers still work fine. Any ideas how I might get it to work on the smartphone platform? Hello, I set up the server to time out of a session when the user has been away for more than 20 minutes. When the user returns and tries to click a button, the screen changes to the standard internet error screen that says can't find page. My boss thinks that this is confusing and that people won't know that they timed out of the database. I created a simple layout that says "Your session timed out". I want to run a script which sends the user to this page right before the session is timed out. That way when they return they are told the database has timed out (if they click buttons and get internet error message after that I don't care). I tried connecting …

I have been using IWP on port 80 for awhile, but it appears my ISP now decided to block traffic - IWP just stopped working and I changed nothing on my end. I want to try and change the port for IWP, but I can't enable IWP to have access to Advanced Options. When I try and enable IWP, I get the message "Filemaker cannot share files over the Web because Instant Web Publishing could not be started." I don't know if Port 80 is my problem or not, but how do I change the port back to the Filemaker default if I can't even access the Advanced Options tab to specify it?

I have a script trigger on fields to pop "updated" into a field that I can keep a check on. If a user updates certain fields, the updated record are shown in a list. All works fine but on with IWP. Any ideas?

Hi Sorry for not knowing where to post this because I couldn't find a forum on IWP. I have a search page that finds records on a table-view based layout. In iwp, the maximum number of records is 50 as I understand it, but does this mean 50 at one time? Can I get to see the next 50 and the next 50 with some kind of script button? My iwp solution does not allow users to see the status area, but can I program a script and put it on a button to show the next 50 record or is 50 the absolute maximum with iwp? Hi, I just started playing around with FMStudio and I wonder what's the best way to validate new users records creation. That is, let's say that I have a php "new user" web form with email and password fields, later used for login. To make it simple, first I need to verify the email field (for instance, at least one "@" character). If passed, then I need to verify that the email address does not already exist in the "users table" As a FileMaker developer, I would create a FM script that does this validation and returns a variable redirecting to one or another php file depending on the result of the validation. I uploaded a database to a filemaker host server via IWP. Within the database I have a field that shows all the attributes of an individual. The field is formatted as a check box linked to a value list with all available attributes. In Filemaker, the field shows all possible attributes as check boxes, and those that apply to that record are checked off. When viewed on the web after IWP, only the first attribute alphabetically is visible and checked off, nothing else is visible. Any suggestions on getting the checkbox to display properly (i.e. all attributes with only those applicable to that record checked)? Works and displays fine in filemaker. Thanks.

I have a database that references images in a separate folder. I uploaded the image folder to the root directory on a filemaker server. Now I have to redirect my database to this folder on the server. I know the URL to the images folder in the root directory, and each record has a field with the image name that it is suppose to reference, so is there a way to direct my container field to the URL:filename in order to display the photo?

Hi, has anyone any experience regarding this problem? Records disappear after being used in IWP. There are no "delete records" functions available for the users, no "button" or "command options", and no "account privileges" to delete records, so it is not possible for them to delete any records in any way. However, records keep disappearing without a trace now and then, and only when used in IWP. The database contains approx. 1000 records, in 1 master file, and is presented with IWP to approx.100 users in 5 related files.

I have built a reporting FORMS suite using IWP. The users is automatically logged in as "Guest" and when he clicks on the link it brings him to the FORMS. Obviously when he logs in the IWP Status Area is hidden so i can't navigate in the FMP database. I have a layout designed with 5 portal regions in it. Now I am working on the PHP form to add record to all the fields and the portal region in the database. I am novice to FMSTUDIO and dont know how to design form fields to insert data into portal regions. I selected form builder and selected all the fields from the layout (including the portal region) and created form and on the response page I have created New Query to add record in the database. But this doesnt seems to work. Do I have to treat portal regions in different way while creating forms or during the response page ? Hi I am having a problem sending smtp mail from web publishing, the script to send e mails claims to be compatible when using web publishing and smtp settings but simply does not send. Ideally I do not want to use mailto with a open URL as the users do not necessarily have a mail client on their computers. Can anyone help. John

Hi, I am hoping that I have missed something very simple. Here is my problem... I am using Dreamweaver and FMStudio. I have a FTP account with Triple8 web hosting. I have created a FTP site in the "Manage Sites". When I am configuring the site, I can test the connection and I get a successful connection to the server. Hi, sorry if this is a lame question but I can't find a solution. When I use addrecord.php with date fields it seems to expect them as mm/dd/yyyy even though my database uses dd/mm/yyyy. I've tried changing the date format here // formats for dates and times $displayDateFormat = '%d/%m/%Y'; $displayTimeFormat = '%I:%M %P'; $displayDateTimeFormat = '%d/%m/%Y %I:%M %P'; $submitDateOrder = 'dmy'; but is seems to ignore it and I still get an error. I get this error in my solution: "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 31457280 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4864 bytes) in /atlas/FX/FX.php(427) : regexp code on line 1" But I cannot find out what to tweak to get rid of it. My documents are placed on a web hotel and my Filemaker server is running on a separate server. Is it the php config of my web hotel that is running out of memory? 30 Megs!? I'm building a CWP app with FX.php and most queries work fine. However, I called a simple table and got an error 102, which is "Field is missing." Well, when I did FMFindAny() and then print_r the returned array for fields, I got the field names only, no data. This seemed strange. Other table on the same server were giving up their data very easily. I checked and re-checked the FX settings. Actually this query is in the middle of a page with three queries against the same FMS, and two others were working, just not this one, in the middle. I finally checked security for the web user that FX was using to log in. Sure enough, on that table, special permission…

We have a database for coach obervations of teachers. The coaches are to enter their observation via a portal that includes a date and text field. This works fine on the client. IWP will only allow the coach to enter one observation. After the submit button is hit. The coach can not enter any more data - ever. They select edit and can type, and submit but the data is lost. Their permissions are set to data entry in all tables and are only restricted by layout. Any help would be appreciated. I have read this forum and have tried bringing the input fields to the front and actually deleting and recreating the fields with no luck. Thanks-

I have a very simple questionnaire published online using IWP. Its kind of lengthy at 5 pages but its broken up into these pages to hopefully capture data even if someone goes past the 60 minutes for a Session timeout. At the end of page one I need to require that a field not be empty before the participant can continue. If I use the internal 'not empty' validation the dialog that pops up is not useful since it only show the name of the field and not the full question. A custom dialog script step is not supported by IWP Any other way to do this like maybe highlight the question? Any suggestion are appreciated.

I have a layout with a portal. I have a checkbox field in the portal which has two items: Yes and No. Using the PHP site assistant, I created a PHP file for the edit record step. Everything works great except for ONE thing: When you un-check BOTH Yes and No, the change doesn't get saved. Checking either (or both) Yes or No saves the change, no problem. Why can't you un-check both and have it save the portal record? Any ideas? I'm about to add a third value (Neither) but the client is not thrilled with that as a solution... Thanks!

I have a several buttons on a layout that show a text field and an image from a record in a related table. Each button is actually a portal, displaying only one row but starting at a different row. Both image and text display in the client but only the text displays in IWP. The image is in a container field (stored in the file) and the field itself does display in IWP - it is just empty when in the portal. If I delete the portal (leaving the text and image fields) both display in IWP. I have played with the layout front/back order of the fields and portal to no avail. I know that the instant web publishing manual clearly states the FileMaker only officially supports IE, Safari, & Firefox, but I wanted to instant publish a file that I could view on the PS 3 browser for a file that I created to display photos in container fields at home. I have a layout with a dropdown showing postcode areas. The postcode areas are linked to a portal. When I change the dropdown it shows the correct related records in the portal, BUT if I try this on my IWP'd page it does not refresh the portal contents. Any ideas?

I'm a novice to all this so if you can help, I would be grateful. I have a sales database. I need to allow only certain IWP users to access certain postcodes. e.g. bill would be HP postcodes, jenny would be DF postcodes etc. I have a portal linked to the main page which has a dropdown. The dropdown allows me to change the postcode area and the portal records update to show only those selected postcode, but I don't want my users to have to do this as they can see other users records. What I want to do is program in the postcode for a selected user and when they login to the IWP page, the records from their correct postcode area is already there.

OK...I am pretty new to file maker..But feel like I have been making progress. However, I have stumbled across something that I am having a lot of trouble with. When signed into file maker I can edit multiple different fields on a layout. However, once I sign into IWP...I can not edit any fields. I have some sounds recorded into a container field that others need to search for and listen to online. Hi there, Until recently our mail server and web server were on one machine. However now the mail server is on a separate machine with its own ip address. This means that all my email notification scripts have stopped working. How do I code it in the php.ini file so that it knows which ip address to use? All advice gratefully received. Cheers, Steven

I have a database that I have hosted using IWP for a non profit and now they are unable to access it. I have Comcast cable as an ISP, an Airport Extreme router and use the default DHCP (non static) address as I don't want to pay extra for a static address. This has always worked in the past with periodically having to update the address to the users when the IP address changes. But now no one is able to access the database using what I believe is the correct address. Http://Outside IP:591 port mapping. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I have a web page that is looking at data through a portal. It does just fine with the info from the child record. I am trying to make a web-based (using iwp) database for our small call center that will allow the user to (using their browser) attach (upload) a .wav or .mp3 file (of a call recording) to a client's file. Then other web users should be able to listen to those sound files. Is this possible? Does iwp not allow for uploading sound files? If not, does it even allow for listening to sound files in your browser attached through FMP Desktop? Any other ideas/solutions? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I want to publish one of my file through FMServer. When I access it through IWP, there will be a default "Instant Web Publishing" Page for us to select our database to view. The thing is, I intend to only publish a single database in FMServer, and I was thinking whether can the default page of IWP be remove and go straight to my database? Having problems accessing my database via IWP. What setting to I have to use for Leopard to gain access? I can access the database locally with Safari and my iPhone. I have set my static IP to redirect to the IP of my local machine i.e. nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn. redirects to 192.168.0.2:591 but still cannot access my database. TIA

Just getting started with Web Publishing. Working with a multi-file legacy solution and I would like only the main file to display on the IWP default homepage. Is it possible to suppress files from being listed here (like you can in the Open Remote dialog) and if not, is there another approach using IWP? Hey, this forum is great. Is it possible to successfully move a site file from the original machine it was created on to another machine ?

One of my layouts does not return records when I perform finds on the web, even though the searches work on the original layout in FileMaker. It always tells me that there are no records that match the requests. Is this a known problem? After working with IWP for a while, it really seems to me that FileMaker layouts do not really work well on the web. People say that IWP layouts are just like the originals, but too many things work differently or do not work at all.

I have a database that uses layouts that display data from related fields. It works just fine in FileMaker, but on the web the information in those fields disappear. Is there any way to get them to be displayed online, or should I use fields that reference the related information? Thanks, -Timothy Moser

Hi I run the PHP assistant and save files to the top level of our web site. Upon access I get an Access forbidden message -"There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected" Everyone is set to read only as per all other web folders. Maybe related but I cannot see click "preview" in the assistant.

How do you link to a file or website using IWP? I would like to post pdf's of sub-reports to our server and add the link to each dept's report, so the user will just click on the link in their report and the sub-report opens. Is that possible with IWP? Thanks in advance

I am using PHP Site Assistant to generate a web interface (iPhone, actually) for a FileMaker Server 10 Advanced hosted table. When I generated an 'out of the box' full PHP site, I was unable to edit records in my table. Submitting the edited record invariably bumped me back to a PHP login screen. It took near forever to figure out that it wasn't a permissions problem and trace it to the validation of a few fields in my table. I have recently had need to go back into older versions of phpsa files created by PHP Site Assistant. When I go to open the site in the newer version of 10, it acts like it is going to open the file, but never does. I thought maybe my file was corrupt, so I tried other phpsa files and had the same results. I know the files have data in them as 1) they are all different file sizes & 2) I can see the code if I open them in BBEdit. Is there an update or plug-in I'm missing so the newer version of PHP Site Assistant can read older files? Thanks for any help!

I have a database that I have been using for awhile with IWP. One of the fields requires that I paste some text. I was very excited when the new iPhone software included copy and paste, because I could now create an iPhone IWP page for the database. For some reason I cannot paste into any fields via IWP on the iPhone. I can copy from the IWP fields and paste into other apps on the iPhone, but I cannot paste into the IWP fields. I have tried various option changes to the fields, but nothing works. If anyone has any thoughts, I would really appreciate it. Yes, I know I should try PHP instead, but I would just like to get it to work with IWP. Thanks

installed server advanced and user 10. went into the individual files with user and enabled the iwp and the specified port. forwarded the same port on the router to the ip of computer hosting files with server advanced 10. i still cant seem to view the files in explorer. can anyone help me and give me some suggestions?

I have a DB (FileMaker 6) with the following fields: date (automatic, creation date) Serial (number (auto enter serial) price (number, auto enter Data) country (text, auto enter Data) All of those field´s contents show allright in Browse mode, but in the WEB Browser (Explorer, FireFox oe Safari) the fields are empty. I'm creating a member database for my son's scout troop, one which will be shared over the internet via IWP. There are several scripts where I'd like to find out the account name of the person currently accessing the database over IWP. For one thing, I want to be able to log the current user's account name in the log of changes made to the database. I was wondering if there were any examples of well done IWP sites so we can see what the potential of the technology is. If we can't make the IWP site "look pretty" enough, we'll have to investigate alternatives, but ideally I would prefer not to have to invest that much time. Thanks!

I am building a PHP site for a database. It is not for users to add data, just for information purposes. I would like the user to enter find criteria, get a list view, and be able to drill down to a form view page. The site assistant seems to give you all or nothing choices. Is there any trick to building the three 'layout' solution that I want. Or am I stuck with using the site assistant to build an entire site, then cut away the edit pages, and reports pages that I don't need?

I'm trying to replace the iwp_home.html in FM9 Server Advanced in OS 10.5. The html file i'm trying to use is a simple redirect to a page that I would like users logging out of IWP to be forwarded to. I've put the html file in: /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/IWP and replaced the original in: /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/wpc/FM Web Publishing.app/Contents/Resources/iwpres/iwp_home.html and restarted the server - the default iwp_home is still being used! Any ideas on this one? I just can't think where the server is finding the default page.

I'm running FMS 9 on Windows Server 2003. I experimented some with IWP, but eventually decided we're going to stick to the standard client / server connection, so have no need for IWP any more. I have published my db via IWP with a script running at startup to hide and lock the status area, so that my layout is all that shows. I have created buttons to navigate records, layouts, create a new record and delete the current record. In FMP10, clicking the delete record button in layout mode will bring up a prompt asking "Permanently delete this ENTIRE record?" this is GOOD i want this. In IWP however, clicking the same button simply instantly deletes the record. I checked to make sure that the "Perform without dialog" checkbox is UNCHECKED Clicking the delete record button in the status area of IWP shows the prompt so i know that it's possible in IWP, but …

I have jjust started using IWP and need some qqick answers to a couple of things please: 1) I find that in a portal there is are no portal scroll bar visible even when the add scroll bar is ticked in FM10 AD. It is there and works on the local vesion. Is that correct? 2) I have a startup script which should take me to a particular layout on start up but when I look at hte program in IWP it aways starts in the same wrong layout? As though te startup sctipt is not working. Is there something I am missing? 3) In portals with all fields read only there is no row highlight in IWP. Is that correct? Many thanks in advance

I have a portal where I can happily edit the portal rows in Filemaker. But when I try to edit the portal rows in the same layout via IWP, I simply can't get manage to make any of the fields on the portal active. Similarly, my web-safe deletion script does not work. Also the portal scroll bar on the right does not display correctly. I've attached the relationship definition. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Just for fun, I shared a simple FM file on IWP. I wanted to see how the conditional value lists would perform. Not good. In FM Client, the second value is set to lookup when the first value changes. This prevents mismatches. I understand that I may need commits after the first value is selected using IWP. I tried that, and a OnObjectModify script trigger, but I still can't get the second popup to lookup. The second popup is only displaying the choices related to the first popup, so the condtl value list is working. However, if the user doesn't enter the second popup and make a choice, they still have a selection that is not valid for the current choice in popup1. The…
