    I have a page that contains 3 portals. "Process" Filtered by "StatusIP="Process" "Hold" Filtered by "StatusIP="Hold" "Finalized" Filtered by "StatusIP="Finalized" Each record has a field "TotalQuote" I want to get a total of "TotalQuote" for all records in each portal. Can't seem to get to work, tried using "Summary field". Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello, I have a portal with many rows which is used to navigate a list of contacts. The user may scroll up and down the list but when they click on a record, obviously the portal gets refreshed as it goes to the related record. I am attempting to effectively make the selecting of items and scrolling to be more natural, and by natural I mean more consistent with my OS environment behavior (which is Mac.) Ideally I would like the user to click on a record but as it goes to its related record, the position of this sidebar portal which stay in the same location after the refresh. Any thoughts or ideas?     Hi everyone, Let me explain my situation. I have table PRODUCTS where I have simple edit box where I'm collecting feedbacks from client until client likes a product. Every feedback starts with header informations like date, feedback from, product name etc. I made a script which creates for me header+feedback text and joins it with older feedbacks and finaly put all this in editbox named feedback history. It is good for fast editing but not as good for record manipulation as it is in single record.Sometimes I need to find out all comments given at specific day and current concept doesn't allow it.     Hello, I have a problem with my first layout using a portal. The relationship between the two tables has checked the option for allow adding new records on the portal side table. If a click on the portal I can create a single record but then I can't create new records. So my portal doesn't allow more records after I created the first one... Somebody can help here?     I have a portal that I use to display tasks that have been assigned to specific associates. Currently I filter them so that if the task status is "Complete" it gets removed from the portal list. This works fine. Tasks::tStatus ≠ "Completed" I also added a field to the tasks table, "parentProjectStatus" in hopes that I could filter out tasks that belong to projects that may have been cancelled or put on hold.     Not sure if this is the right place. If not please point me in the right direction, I'm new here. I'm creating a database to record details of sessions with a client. After each session, I record several different types of notes & other information stored in one session record. I also store 'notes for next time'. What I am trying to to do is get these 'notes for next time' to appear in a layout when I create a new session record. I just can't figure out how to do it. I would be grateful for any suggestions.   10. Hello, I have a sidebar portal that has a list of 300+ contacts. I am attempting to create a script that will navigate to the previous and next record in the portal (which may or may not be filtered.) I don't always have the current row number of the record being viewed. So my question is... how can I get the portal row number of a particular record when no portal is currently active? At first, I wasn't sure what was producing the error but I have to do is login through IWP and on the first page, all I have to is click edit and then submit. This first page has two portals, one for the projects, and the second for the requests of those projects. A few "random" projects will duplicate their title within the projectName field.     Hello, I am beginning a project that includes a time table schedule for employees, based on 15 minute increments. The layout is for just one day at a time. Each employee is on a column, each row is a 15 minute increment. I am contemplating the best strategy to provide the cleanest interface with the most functionality. I was planning to use a portal for each employee column, and a separate field for each 15 min. increment (from 7AM to 9PM); but this seems like too many relationships, not to mention hard on reporting.   14. Hi Everyone, I am having a problem with my Events Registration. I hope someone has a suggestion and thank you in advance! Whenever we register guests for an event, we sometimes put in duplicate names as temporary placeholders. For example, if someone buys 5 tickets but hasn't given us the names of all the guests. Once we get the names, we change the guest records accordingly. Unfortunately, the guest list (Guest Tab) won't sort properly (alphabetically by last name) based on the updated guests (see portal row 2 on the sample attached).     using filemaker pro 11 I created a working portal that views INVENTORY items. Using a VENDER field I was able to get the to portal show only related records. (based on venders). The VENDER field is a drop down, value list, of venders. In addition to viewing inventory items for each vender, is there a way to view all of the inventory items regardless of vender. In other words .. is there a "view all records / command J" function for the portal. let me know if you need more specific information. jeff

    Hello, I am at my wits end trying to figure out what is going on with my Events_Guest portal! For the most part, I have used the scripts and fields that came with the Events Management template. The technique for adding a portal record uses the contact ID field placed below the Full Name field, allowing a search using the last name. When participants sign up for a program, they are assigned a time slot. When the event is originally established, all the time slots are entered with a blank contact name.   20. I don't know where to start with this one. Inside a portal I want to control both where the cursor is placed and limit text placement by calculation. I'm trying to mimic an outline display akin to Word where based on some set of conditions, i.e., some predetermined level/hierarchy structure, the cursor indents accordingly and restricts the placement of text to the left of the cursor placement within the portal row. In the past I've just used a calculation field placed on top of the text field in conjunction with some conditional formatting. I'm just wondering if anyone is aware of any other options to explore. The solution is basically a catalog of different legal documents (like deeds, mortgages, and so forth). These documents are reviewed in the context of writing a legal opinion, so the solution also tracks opinions. You could think of an opinion as a project.     I have a layout with a Tab Control on it, housing 3 tabs. In each tab, I have a portal, all pointing to the same table occurrence, but displaying different data. 90% of the time, everything works fine. However, some of the time, when I click on a tab to switch to the data I want, the view switches to show everything as <Table Missing>, and sometimes, clicking on the 2nd or 3rd tab takes me to the 1st tab showing <Table Missing>. A second click on the desired tab causes the portal to refresh and show the proper data, but I can't figure out what's going wrong in the first place to fix it. Anyone have any ideas on how this can be fixed?

    I have a portal with a long list of data. I have added two global fields so that the user can narrow down the results. I would like to do this real-time as they type into the global fields. I have the filter function working close enough, but what I can't seem to figure out is how to refresh the portal. I have tried just running "delete portal row" I have also tried tying it to a script that has the command "delete portal row". The problem is that if I click the button the row does not delete. Once in a while I can open up filemaker and get it to work but it is very random. I have watched the script get called in "script debugger" and have no errors. But yet it does not delete the record.     Have a database with 3 main tables: 1. Horse owner 2. Horse details 3. Visit Notes As one owner may have several horses, I have set up a simple portal on the Horse Owner layout which shows the 'Horse Name', and 'Date Last Modified' fields from the related Horse Details table. Obviously for a new client, the portal window is blank (no horse/s recorded yet). I want to put a simple button in the Horse Owner layout that switches to the Horse Details layout, with a new record created and ready to fill in - and related to the currently open Horse Owner.     I have 3 tables: Designer, Styles, Messaging The Designer table has a portal containing records from Styles matched by DesignerID. StyleID goes from Styles to Messaging, and in each record in the Styles portal on the Designer layout, I want a portal displaying the matching records from Messaging. However, currently, the second portal shows ALL the records from the Messaging table, as opposed to the ones associated by StyleID. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all, I have a script that performs a number of find request and the last request I want to limit to the first row of a portal only. At the moment the script steps are: Go To Field: (selects the field in the portal) Go to Portal Row [select;First] Insert Calculated result( Enters the request data) Perform Find.     I have a school administration application. On a Staff page that shows a Teacher's record, I have two portals. On the left, the portal shows a list of the Courses taught by that Teacher. Clicking on one of these portal rows displays the Students taking that Course in the right portal.     I have a portal that all of the records are showing the same information as the first record. The table holding the portal is called Vendors, and the portal is built from Purchase Orders. When a purchase order is added some of the fields show the data from the first record, such as Image, date, etc. However, some show from the correct information. I've noticed that the fields that are being repeated are ones from a related table Styles which is related to Purchase Orders through Style ID. I don't really understand why this happens?

    I am trying to have a portal with records that contain a container. This container is to store either a video or audio file, and hence I am trying to use the enhanced interactive features. However, the container seems to stop working when put into a portal, outside of a portal it works fine, but inside I cannot even add a audio/video file to it. Has anybody come across this before? My situation is similar to a dictionary: some of the larger dictionaries will have a discussion attached to a word definition, showing how a word and its similar words vary and how to use them in different situations.     We have a solution running in v12. Its a robust solution that is heavily trafficed. Oddly, on one of the machines (running 10.6.8 and FMP 12.2) data is not appearing in a couple of filtered portals. The exact same record and layout on a different machine (running 10.6 and FMP 12.1) the portal data does appear. If we turn the portal filter off the data suddenly does display. The offending filter reads: tic.LIN_Lines~RentalsOnly::zkf_ItemID ≠ 28286 and tic.LIN_Lines~RentalsOnly::_zkfModel ≠ "BSKT" It is filtering out a specific type of line item and product. Is there a known glitch? Any one have any thoughts?

When Outlook 2010 and FM are open at the same time, if I click to change to a different mailbox (sent,inbox unread etc...) the FM window on the other monitor flickers until the Outlook program has finished painting the new window!     In our portal, we have a Start Date and a Start Time field (popup value list of times). These fields let an instructor indicate the day and time they started a session. When an instructor completes the session they can start a new session and time on a new portal row. A small problem we have is that an instructor may start their session today at 1:00 p.m., then for their next session (on a new portal row) they may accidentally select 1:00 p.m. again (instead of 1:15 p.m.). Is there a way to stop them from entering the same start time for any of today's sessions. Michelle

If you could please evaluate and comment, I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking to see if anyone finds anything that I have not considered with regards to this process. Typically for performance reasons I would filter at the relationship level so that only a very small subset of records is returned to me over the network. However I've heard talk in FM12 that portal filtering is meant to behave much faster and - dear I say it - be carried out server-side?   82. I have a home asset table with a item field among other fields. I also have two other tables name category and location with a category and location text field, respectively. In one layout with a tab, I have two portals (see attachment). The left will list my categories and the right I hope to list my items that are located in the location area. I am not sure what relationships are needed to get this to work. Once I get the category to work, I will do the same for the location tab. The previous version had layouts with links hard written onto each layout.     We converted one of our solutions to FM 12 from FM 11. There is a report layout with body records that contain a portal that can display 3 or 4 child records. The portal row contains 3 text fields. The layout objects are set to slide up and reduce the size of the enclosing part. The report has worked correctly FM 3-11. The problem is that the child records in the portal rows sometimes fail to display in preview mode. Some records display the child records in the portal, others display only the first record.   97. I have a portal that on tabbing to the next field I have a script trigger that jumps to another layout to snag some values to auto fill some additional fields in the portal. The problem is as the scripts finishes and returns to the original layout the original layout is scrolled all the way to the top. Even though the focus of the cursor is in the correct field in the portal down below. Is there any way to scroll back down (I tried a script step to scroll to selection but that didn't work).   98. I have a fairly simple portal that the first field is a quantity. When I enter a number in a new row and tab to the second field the number is reset back to zero. If I click back in the field and override the zero it is fine. It is like when I tab to the next field that the record is created and then it sets a default value.
