I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to publish a database using IWP on FM Server 11 Adv on Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I believe I have all the privilege sets set correctly, and the admin console shows that it's publishing it, but it does not show up on the database homepage. Other databases I have set up do, just not this one. As a troubleshooting step, I tried creating a clone (no records) of the database and that publishes without a problem. The clone carries over all of the users and privilege sets, so that doesn't seem like it's the issue at hand. I also made sure I was using the upload database process on the server and not just putting …

We use web forms to allow clients to update their contact and other information and provide course proposals. Sometimes they use single or double quotes and when passed back and forth during form validation they turn into gobbledegook. Which php function or functions will allow these characters to be preserved and not converted into special characters etc.?

Hi, I have a router within standard IP range (192.168.0.1) connected to a Time Capsule which then reparts 10.*.*.* IPs to all the peripherials of the local network. I have a dynamic IP (which I will upgrade to a static one once I manage to make this work at last). The local IP is set to static. Windows recognizes the time capsule as the gateway. I've set the port forwarding in the router as follows ..and so did in the configuration of Time Capsule I do connect correctly to my file on local network via http://10.0.1.6:591/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html. Does anyone know how to have empty fields collapse, both image and text, on my search results page. Especially the pictures but if there is a way for empty text fields to collapse as well that would be awesome. I am new to the PHP API and have everything working except for a solution for this. An example is a tourism site I'm working on where there are selected icons in the FM db - I only want to show the ones that are selected and if they are empty I need them to collapse - otherwise I get this big long list with icons showing up wherever they are in the order of the code. Hi All. I have Lasso 8.5 to working with FM Server Advanced 8.5. In Lasso Admin, the Host is FM SA, the Database access is set to see the required layout from Filemaker DB. I have a webinterface layout which displays data from different tables. I see all the data like invoice amount, Discounts and commissions on that layout from Filemaker side. This layout has the portal too. On Lasso Admin, I see all these fields from webinterface layout. On Lasso page, I display the Invoice details data from this webinterface for my customer. The problem is, it displays all the data except for Discount% and amount, So my Invoice total does not match. I…

Is there anyway to prevent users from typing more than a few lines of text into a text field box in a form from an IWP database? (I have a feeling I may need to ditch IWP and use custom web publishing instead.)

I am just using the FMServer_Sample file to test. I opened up the PHP Site Assistant and created a new site. Then selected the FMServer_Sample file chose the layout group and tested the site by previewing in the Site Assistant. I was able to create records via the preview on the FMServer_Sample file. However, after I generate the site and move the folder to my c:inetpubwwwroot folder I receive the following error when testing the site. Any ideas??? Okay, I KNOW this one must have already been talked about on here, but the fact that this does not work EVEN THOUGH Filemaker says it should be web compatible is very frustrating....I'm hoping someone has a workaround for it... I have a number of fields that come up in an IWP layout.... username and password and email response are three of those fields. In FM client, I can build a Copy button that users can click to copy that specific field's data to the clipboard.... Then they can go elsewhere (to a web form) and paste that data into the web form. Hi everyone I need some help with this We are running IWP on fmserver10 We have a fairly large database and now have a need to convert some of the data entered to xml and re=submit this to another site thru an http:request. We were just going to create the request and set the web viewer object and then getlayobjectatrribute "content" and parse out the returned XML. but the request is over 3500 characters long. I beleive the length for submission as a url is 2048! I have a FM 10 Pro Advanced DB that I am trying to publish on a company intranet. There is no FM server program running on the network. I have been trying to test this set up from the computer that the DB was developed on. This is a WinXP-SP3 machine. When I try to switch on IWP I get the message saying there is a port conflict on port 80. When I try to change it to any others (including 591) I get the same message that there is a Port conflict. I have tried many ports up to the max and still this problem. I have also turned off the Firewall and Virus protection but still no success. Thanks in advance for any help. RDW

I have been put in control of creating a intranet social network site to be used by us and our factory in China. I have the Jonathan Stark book and I've also downloaded the FMWebschools fully functioning sample SN app. I was looking into the FM PHP assistant but on our system the option is greyed out. Does this mean that it hasn't been loaded or it hasn't been activated? How would I know or find out? The only time I got any PHP to run is when I stuck it into "MacintoshHD/Library/WebServer/Documents/". Where do I start. Thanks Michael

using: FM Pro 11, Mac OS X 10.5.8, Safari 4.0.4 I just have two files that I'm sharing via IWP. In both cases the Table View record pointer/selection field looks like it was almost completely moved off the left-hand side. You can't select any records except the top one (default). The Internet Explorer and FireFox users show the same thing. I read and reread the IWP guidelines, but still don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm new to FM.

I am trying to set up an IWP service in order to show the FM Technologies to a client. I have downloaded my FMServer Advanced (techNet license) and set it up successfully. The fmServer_demo file appears to be OK with al Pro, IWP, XLST, XML, PHTP, ODBC checked. I have changed the IWP connection port to 591 as instructions recommended. I'm facing a rather wired issue... I have a two database setup. The first one is accessed through fmnet (the main database), and a second is used through IWP (web portion, periodically synchronized with main database). There's a merge field and three pop-up menus which should display data from the MAIN database - but it doesn't. At least not when you're viewing the layout in a web-browser. If I open the web portion of the database in a FileMaker client, it's all good. I'm puzzled - any ideas?? Thank you!!

In my FileMake Pro Advanced database, I have layouts associated with a table occurence, however, when I go to PHP Site Assistant, the Choose Layout Group is always grayed out. I don't know what causes this. The same thing happened with the sample database that came with the FM Server Advanced.

I recently published a database to the web and in the layout there are various fields that are linked to other databases. When a user clicks in the field to edit it, they get a drop down box with options pulled in from another database. I have several drop downs like this. The performance on the filemaker client is very fast, but when I port it to the web it is almost unusable. I have tried to use an auto complete edit field instead, but it only auto completes in the file maker client and not on the web. I can tell from tests that it is significantly faster without these drop down boxes, but some of them are necessary in order to properly link with the various tables…

I think there is a problem with IE6 / IWP / FMS11A. My list layout looked fine with FMS10A, but with FMS11A, when a user with IE6 goes to the list layout, the entire header part of the layout is blank, and in addition there is a blank area of about 4 cm before the first records appears. If I grab the side of the window and resize it, the header appears, the buttons work, but the white space above the first record remains. Yes - I realize that IE6 was replaced by IE7 in 2006� but my client has over 2,000 employees using IE6, and the IT department are not in any hurry to upgrade.

Our old router has died and we've changed to an Airport Extreme. Filemaker now says we should use 192.168.254.1 so I have gone into IPv6 Firewall Setup Assistant and set the IPv6 address as 192.168.254.1 and the TCP and UDP ports as 80 We have a static IP address and I cannot access FileMaker from outside our network but could with the old router with port redirection. What I'm I doing wrong?

Hi, I have a layout with a portal, and in IWP I can't click inside it. No field can be entered, either new or existing, and even the Delete Portal Row button doesn't work. If I add a "Go To Field" step to my Add Portal Row script, that one field is entered and editable, but still nothing else can be clicked. Elsewhere in my database, portals work fine with IWP. I've attached a picture of a row from the portal. I understand this might be a layout problem, but I don't know what the issue can be. Thanks for any advice, Lev

This is a custom lasso tag which takes the name of HTTP-POST or GET parameter (submitted through form-posting for example) as argument and returns a Boolean value to indicate whether that parameter is found. It returns true if a parameter with that name is found in the set of HTTP POST/GET parameters and false if the parameter is not found. This Lasso custom tag is like isset() function in PHP. How can I disable IWP in my development copy of FileMaker 10 on Windows XP? Here's my story: My primary development system is a standalone computer that isn't networked. For the past two years I've used FileMaker 10 to build runtimes. FileMaker has always started up smoothly -- within about 10 seconds. Hello All I am in the process of making a time clock, that would allow people to punch in using IWP. My UI uses globals, and only a single record. There are other tables that take care of the data. The data processing takes about 5 seconds, and uses the globals to find the correct record to modify. My concern is having two people punching in at the same time. How would IWP handle this? Is there a better method?

I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere but I wasn't able to find an answer when searching the forum. I am try to print an invoice from IWP. To do this I'm using a list view layout. It works fine in Safari. In Firefox it prints only what will fit on one page. In IE it does the same, but with scroll bars on the side and bottom of the page. Does anyone know a way to allow printing in IE or Firefox? The client uses Windows so Safari isn't really an option. It doesn't make sense to download it just or this. Thanks.

What could be the matter if "Exit Application" does not work on an IPW page? I've had it as part of a longer script, then placed a button on screen with just that one script step attached: Exit Application. Nothing happens... Any ideas? Thanks!!

Can special characters like '"*&%$@! etc break a php web page if the characters are part of the text of a database field? Eg if there is a field called Course Name and the text is "Supervision, How and Why?" will the double quotes or the question mark break the page? If so how do we prevent this? All advice gratefully received.

Hi, please can any one help... I'm a bit stuck... I'm trying to publish a very simple database through IWP. It shows me the url "http://192... etc and I've added the port 8080 in advanced options. To check it, I've opened the url on a different machine in a browser (eg safari) and it's worked. When I've then checked (by either a pal, or through remote desktop) through a different computer - eg remotely, its not worked at all! I can't see what I'm doing wrong -( Lisa

I have a document register which has the file in a container. Click to download. After you click only that one file is visible and the only way to show all is to log out and in again. Has any one come across this and what to do about it. ps using v 11 on mac

I have a database that we have hosted online. Some of the fields cannot be clicked into. When we tab through the record, the field becomes active and we can edit it and make changes. Why would this happen? All of the script buttons on the page react the same way. I have another hosted file on the same server, without any of these problems. It has full access and no limits on the database at all. Any thoughts out there??

Greetings! I have published a IWP database on FileMaker 10 Server Advanced. It looks good for the most part, but I noticed that users who have Safari have the ability to resize any field to any size - that is there is a little resize corner in the lower right of all the fields. I also noticed there is no official scroll bar showing up, but I could drag up and down where the scroll bar should be and it works. Has anyone else had this experience or have any tricks to get around it?

The new forms based login is great but we have run into a small problem. In FMP7 when logging into IWP a box used to come up asking for lagin and password. We also had some of our databases that bypassed the login and went directly to the database logging in as a guest. With FMP8 I cant seem to bypass the login. When clicking the database we want It will always bring me to the form based login screen where I can choose guest. Is there a way to go directly to the database bypassing the form.. FM Support site only talks about this being a problem on Leopard, but I had it occur on Tiger after a crash. Problem / Error: FileMaker cannot share files over the Web because Instant Web Publishing could not be started (or freezing completely when clicking IWP On) Cure / Fix / Solution: Delete web.prefs from within FileMaker; Extensions; Web Support Hope this saves someone a headache someday by showing up in a web search.

I have several databases for cataloguing photographs that I share with associates. The databases use FMP10 and run on my desktop, with both Filemaker network sharing and IWP activated. My assistant uses the databases by network sharing and some other colleagues access them via IWS as search-only users. The databases contain about 30,000 records for TIFF and JPG images. The images are in the /web directory. Everything was peachy until last week when my computer crashed. I have a relatively simple database the has two tables. One contains 4 fields (Products). The other contains 19 fields (Customers). My solution is done using IWP: When the user finds a product the portal provides a list of customers that purchased that product. I have a drop down menu in the portal next to each customers name that the user will select a new suggested product for each customer. When the user is done selecting the sugg. product I have a button that saves the entries. Hi, We have a fairly complex system hosted with FMSA v10.02 on WIN Server 2003. We created a separate set of mobile TO with 5 of the main tables in the system. We also have dedicated layouts for each of the pages in the Site Assistant based on the mobile TO. These layouts only contain the actual fields used in the Site Assistant pages. We have used the Site Assistant with the iPhone theme to create a "Full Site with Record Edit". We can successfully login, search and browse for records. Whenever we attempt to submit a new record or any edits in current records, we get the "error 102 field is missing" and the data is not committed. The log viewer in …

Hi all, I am pretty new to this so please forgive me if I am asking the down right obvious here! So I have managed to get the database working on the local copy of Filemaker server and the IWP works fine. It publishes to a local 192.168.... address and this is superb. So I signed up for the hosted service and tried to upload my database with the java admin control panel, but I think I must be doing something wrong. It just uploaded the actual database file and I don't see how to upload the rest of the data files. Am I being really stupid and missing something major here? thanks in advance, Bman

Hello everyone, Does anyone have an idea how I can integrate more detailed statistics in Filemaker Server 10? Currently I'm able to see, who is logged into the database. I can also look up at the logs, but most of the time they are useful only for troubleshooting. I'm more interested in "how much time each user spend" and eventually "how many" searches he/she performs. I can run Google Analysis on iwp_auth.html, which can give an idea how many users log on dally basis, but nothing else. Do you have any ideas how I can implement such statistics as "logged time" and "performed searches" into database? May be additional Field could count such data?

I've procrastinated long enough and I'm finally going to start learning a bit of PHP. I have what I would call a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and FileMaker but have avoided PHP for the most part especially in regards to using it with FM. I installed FileMaker Server 10 Advanced and tested all the sample pages for IWP, PHP, XSLT, and everything seemed to work fine. Using FileMaker server, I hosted my own database, with web access priviledges set up. The browser displays the database home page which displays my database link but when I clicked on the link nothing shown. I have gone through the manual a couple of times but found nothing that can help me. I'm not sure what else to do.

I have a db published via IWP on FM 9 Adv Server. This will be interacted with a customer's sales crew. The customer captures a user name and password when the salesperson enters their site. They want to place a link on their web site where the salesperson can click to open the site. Is there a way to pass the user name and password to the FM db? I came to find that when using the Open URL feature this does not work in the Custom Web Publishing. I absolutely need to find a way to have a link from a field. I have a field that generates a google maps url for locations and the whole reason I am building this database is for iphone users to find a location and open it within google maps. Please if anyone has an idea on how to make the generated link actually click-able in the php custom web publishing I would be extremely grateful!

I have a login script setup that searhes for the logged in user's record in the database. My script is setup as follows: Enter Find Mode [] Set Field [Members::Email; Get ( AccountName )] Perform Find [] Show All Records The script appears to be ignoring the Show All Records command as i am still confined to the found set. The script step works flawlessly if it is in a script on its own. If the user were to manually click the Show All Records button, it works without a problem. I know that is an easy work around for the problem but i would like to script as much as i can as the users aren't very computer literate.

I am running Filemaker Server Adv on a VM Vista Business 64bit. I can upload my databases fine and all of the php, IWP, etc boxes are checked. When I start up PHP Site assistant to create a new site, I hit connect and it then displays all of the available filemaker databases, then when I select one of them it will prompt me for a username and password, then after waiting for a minute I see an hourglass that then stops and completes, but the Choose Layout Options is greyed out. No error messages or nothing, just can't access it. One time on a reboot I was able to publish one, but nothing since.

I have a IWP solution the client will have a link to their agents site. They would like to pass a text field, so when the agent arrives at the IWP site, shows their ID in a text field. Hi folks, I have used the PHP Site Assistant to create a few online forms that dump data into a FM database. Works very well and have done this quite a few times. I would like to be able to have an email automatically sent any time someone fills out one of these forms. I am using old PHP code I had lying around to send an email using the ob_get_contents() function to load the data into the message of the email. (Used to do this all the time to send emails of raw html form data.) Got this working, but the way that FMview.php works, the field names get translated into numbers instead of something even remotely human readable, so the emails are essentially usel…

I am using Filemaker 10 on two Macs and a third Mac views a simple report from a web browser thru IWP (one of the Macs acting as the server but is FMP10 Advanced, not FMP Server). One of the fields in the report contains a negative number. The field is a number imported from a text file, not a calc. When viewing in FileMaker, it appears as a negative without a problem. However, IWP seems to strip the negative sign out before displaying. I've tried changing the font and putting it in parenthesis instead of a negative sign. I even tried conditional formatting to change the color if it's < 0 but it doesn't work. It looks like IWP thinks it's a positive number. …

I have 10 different IWP-applications on my FM 10 server adv.(windows). 10 different users are logging in to respective application from their websites. I would like to send each one of them back to their website when they log out the IWP application. How can I do that? is it possible?

I am using relationships to display certain records within a portal row. I use this in a number of areas within my database that is intended to be used via IWP. Everything worked fine until I recently added another criteria to one of the relationships. Now I am having an issue where when you first log into the database via IWP the portal row shows as empty (even though there should be data). If you navigate to a different record, and then navigate back the data suddenly appears. The issue is not present when using the database with Filemaker. I am new to IWP and have a few questions regarding the user side of IWP served via FMSA 8.0 through a static IP address: - Can it be set up that the user visiting the site to automatically logged into iwp with an authenticated user profile, not a guest profile? - Can it be setup to bypass the the iwp homepage and authentication page/ If so, my database can present the user with my own login and username requirement that they need to put in to gain access to the database the website. - Can it be setup that the url is clean so that the users are not seeing the filemaker address in the url. FM 10 Advanced Mac OS X Leopard AT&T ISP (gateway modem/router) I am able to connect to my DB from the mac that FM is on, a computer using the same network, and iPhone wifi on same network. I can not connect from any computer or device that is on another network. I have tried all Mac Sharing settings. I have tried changing the FM port from 80 to 591. I have tried to set my router firewall to allow connection through port 591 and port 80. Nothing seems to work. Where does one place a folder of images (thumbnails of album covers) and then create the appropriate file reference to display those within a database in a container field? We have over 5,000 covers that need to be associated with the appropriate album in our database, and REALLY don't want to embed these into the database. is there a way to startup filemaker without the webpublishing and sharing features on? I was using these features fine, but then suddenly they started preventing the program from even starting up. I get a "please change port" option, but no port works that i have found yet.... i've tried the 591 FM port and 80, and 100, and 5003, etc. but no change. Every time i enter the port the program closes without message. So is there a back ground way to flip "off" the web sharing and network sharing options? Maybe a plist file somewhere? I have a database that clients to be able to view online. They shouldn't be able to see other clients data and the login script does a search and shows them only the data they are allowed to see. Giving access to the toolbar lets them hit the view all button so I hid the toolbar and implemented buttons on the layout for navigation. They still need to be able to do a find on one field though. How can I implement a search field on a layout in IWP? The clients permissions are set to view only. TAI

The behavior is this: User in IWP enters find mode (either via the sidebar Find button or by a user defined Find script button). The HTML code below works fine through Safari and Firefox directly (as an Open File), but will not play through the web viewer. I've just installed an ODBC driver and now cannot start IWP. IWP works fine in my MacBook Pro on the same network, so I assume a pref or setting has become corrupt. Any ideas?

Hi, is it possible to keep FileMaker publishing online a database without having it open on the server? I'm asking this because I don't know why but the database periodically closes (more or less once every 2 weeks) and the customers can't access it anymore... I need it to be up and running 24/7! Hi, My database is (intentionally) not listed in the list of served databases - the URL that users use bypasses that screen and goes directly to the login screen. However, on exiting, the "Exit Application" step takes them to the IWP home page, showing the list of other databases, which i don't want. Is there a way I can prevent going to the IWP home page on exit ?

I'm using IWP and have various layouts, the main one being a layout with a portal showing 600+ records. Just recently, our remote user keeps getting... 'Internet explorer has stopped working check online for solution and close the program close the program' It only happens when the user is moving back to the portal layout page. I'm creating a solution that I'll be sharing with IWP. I've got a calc field with Get(UserName) and another with Get(AccountName). When I turn on IWP on the host machine Get(UserName) displays the name of my Admin account and Get(AccountName) displays Admin. When I then go to the hosted database through a web browser on a separate machine, via an airport network 10.0.1.4, and successfully log in using a different account Get(UserName) and Get(AccountName) display the exact same thing as the host computer. I have an IWP solution that allows auto login as guest for users to fill out a form to get information. I'd like to include the user's email address (which I'm getting from another website) in the URL and then have the email address field autopopulate from the URL. Well, take a look at the attached screenshot. I'm developing an IWP interface for our customers and they will need access to the three files shown. "smpl_interface" is the one with all the layouts and scripts, etc. and the other two are basically just dumb data files. The original issue I'm trying to solve is changing passwords in IWP (via the Reset Password script step) and I discovered that the two data files are not being updated.
