We have been using eAuthorize for a long time, but my main database user is complaining that she can only do one authorization a day, after that FileMaker goes to Spinning Ball of Death when more authorizations are attempted. Are there other plug-ins we should consider trying?

I have a problem we are stuck on. We need to capture the value of fields on entry, before they have been modified. We need a way that is independent of layout tricks, like putting a button over the field to capture the data. We are trying to create an audit trail that we can randomly assign to any field, and they want the before and after values on one line in the audit file. I can get the EventScript plugin to successful work on the first field that is entered using the security setup. However, this only works for the first one. Hi, iv just finished creating a database for company, to house customer details (such as name, address, number, credit card details etc), produce invoices and advice slips, and process credit card transactions. However one thing that has stumped me is the intergration of an address finder. Is there a ready made plugin that allows you to find addresses based on certain critrea such as postcode (zip code) or house number + street name etc? The customer will be using version 8.5 i expect, though i developed it on 8. So i could consider using the web viewer and possibley a website that provides this kind of functionality? Hello, I bough this plug in and it was working fine for 2 months now... I had to upgrade my computer to windows server 2003. I re-install filemaker 8.0 and I replace the plug in in the right directory and I do the same with the registration file... Hi, Currently I can save a file in container. What I want to do is to save it in a container and straight read it from there without having to save it locally. If I save a pdf document in it e.g. and I'd like to read it again later, I first have to save it locally before I can see it. Is there maybe a better option? Thanks Robin

Does anyone know what is up with these people? We've used eAuthorize at client sites several times over the years. Works great. We ordered another license from them over their web site. They charged our card, but two days later we have yet to recieve a license key. Phones aren't answered. Calls aren't returned. Emails aren't answered. I'm wondering if they went out of business or something. They had awesome customer service for ages...and now no one seems to be there at all.

I'm able to create a new customer & invoice with the plugin, but I'm having a problem with searching to find whether the customer exists in QuickBooks or not. If so, what is the contents of the 'List ID' field (in QB) for that customer? I'm trying to search by the name field (which I know isn't the best search criteria, but it's the only thing I KNOW will be on the FM side). From the directions for Server 8, it appears that the server can run some plug-ins -- but the instructions are vague. Does anybody know how to employ this feature? Can you use any plug-ins, or just special ones? Can you activate a server plug-in from the client? What products are on the market using these plug-ins?

I am having difficulty getting a response from Productive Computing regarding a feature question I have before committing to the Outlook Manipulator plugin for our network. A question I sent them about Entourage Manipulator last year also went unanswered. I would like to know what (if any) experience people have with this company and if one could expect to receive better support after making a purchase. Also, if there is a good alternative out there I would like to know about it. The feature I am most interested in is email sync from Outlook to FM.

We have examine, the plug-in xmChart 3.1, for making graphs and want to use it in our FM application. It’s great that’s for sure ! But what we miss is a summary of the effect of all possible parameters. We have de original manual with all commands and parameters but isn’t not always clear what thy do. Hi All-- I'm having an issue where the example plug-in (FMExample) does not load on *certain* XP machines, when I compile it. Most of the XP machines load the plug-in just fine, but there are a few that do not. I have not altered the example code in any way-- just compiled it using Visual Studio 2003. When the users go to Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins, the plug-in does not appear in the list. The permissions are identical to those who are able to see the plug-in, so I don't think it's a permissions issue on the machines. Everybody, I'm using the SyncDek 6 to generate unique ID's but it turns out that Plug-In hasn't yet been updated to run under FileMaker 8.5 on Macs with Intel Processors. I know I can force FileMaker to use Rosetta, but how much longer are users going to accept the performance penalties than come with that. Does anybody have news on what WorldSync's plans are? Marc

I'm having trouble -- the auto-enter calc with Event Trigger triggers the script too often. I want the script to trigger only when I change a field (and not when I'm running other scripts that don't touch that field). I tried the validation method, but that doesn't work -- it doesn't perform the script until I exit the record, and by then I'm in a new record, and it will perform the end of the script on the new record. What can be done? (I already have a condition in the calc that it won't be executed when a record is new and a field is blank...but this doesn't solve my main problem.)

Hi guys, I would rather this actually wasn't a plug-in but instead some sort of service (i only posted here because i couldn't think of anywher else). Now, making a scheduling application is all great, and fun -- the issue comes down to the reminders though. I need some sort of service independant of filemaker that will perhaps parse a text file, or if not that, be manipulatable by vbscript and then show reminders (even when FM is closed) based on that data... I am using the new Troi URL plugin with some success, I am curious if anyone is using this and may be able to shed some light on my problem. I am updating a website that uses javascript forms, the first form is working without problems, but the second form keeps returning errors, the only difference I can see is in the FORM tag, This one doesn't work and This one does. I'm using the zippscirpt plugin to run scripts in a local Filemaker file. It runs a script and at the end of the script it sets the plugin to run the next script at a determined time. The problem is that after running all day just fine, Filemaker client crashes at a scheduled scirpt to run 1am after it is triggered. If I move that schedule to run during the day it runs just fine.

I have FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced installed on two Macs running 10.4.7. On one, the plug-ins in FileMaker's Extensions folder have customary icons. On the other Mac, all FM plug-ins have generic folder icons. Although the plug-ins with the folder icons work OK, I'd really like to easily distinguish the real folders from the plug-ins. I realize I can grab the plug-in icon from the valid Mac and paste it on each plug-in on the flaky Mac. But I'd prefer to find some way to convince the flaky Mac to behave.

Hi guys, Trying to write a plug-in, i've managed to get the data into Vis c++ using fmx:Text variables, the only issue is, i need to extract the data and turn it into a _bstr_t. (tried using the following, but it doesn't really seem to return anything: _bstr_t User(dataVect.AtAsText(0).kEncoding_Native) -- but even though it compiles it doesn't really return anything (i was guessing that kEncoding_Native would convert it to a format i could use, because otherwise the compiler throws an error.). Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has attempted to use Eventscript to create reminders and alarms in a system. I did have a licence for Troi Activator, in the FileMaker 6 days, but didn't really get on with this plugin. I know I can upgrade to the lastest version at a cheap price, but I find the Eventscript plugin so easy to use compared to Activator as you don't have remember to delete events and triggering things are so easy. Support seems to be great on this forums as well.

Ok, here's my problem. I've been playing with this for 4 days now and all I've accomplished is having FM crash continually. So, I know I'm screwing something up. I have downloaded the scripting plug-ins SCRIPTit, Troi Activator and Dacons ScriptFire. Using Troi Activator created my crash problems, which I think (Hope) is resolved. I deleted the plug In and all associated scripts and calcs and copied my previous working version back. I am now working only with a clone of my app with limited records. Anyway, on to my Quest. Hi all, I've looked around and can't find anything that integrates a credit card "swipe" reader with FM. Specifically, what I want to do is be able to swipe a credit card and have the info on the card's magnetic strip brought into FileMaker. Anyone heard of anything that does that? Thanks in advance!

I have created a 5 file solution, tested it, congratulated myself, then renamed the files with the developer tool, designated a place to save the new solution, checked the box for "files must have FM extension" and created the new solution. The Navigation buttons in the copied solution don't work. All 5 files are open, so the opening script works, and Server8 is doing O.K. serving up the files, the button scripts also look O.K. to me with the new file names. I suspect the "File Reference" has something to do with it but it has the new file names and file path list of each of the files, repeated in each of the five files. Hi, I started working with FileMaker this past Feb for a filemaker shop. I recently stumbled across the fact that it's possible to make filemaker plugins and since I played with C++ whenyounger I figured i'd jump into it and see what pops up in the future. I'm currently using VS 2005 and the 24U Template. I'll admit I had a rough time getting all of my files together and now I'm trying to figure out how to make a basic plugin...even...putting a hardcoded line of text into a field or something. I can't find any real documentation to go off of and I was wondering if any of you guys could kick me in the right direction or throw more documentation at me besides the readme…

Like many others out there, I've spent many hours trying to decipher Gaston Forgues' examples. He's a great great asset to the FM community, but what he's given us all is a bit difficult to understand. To be honest, I still don't fully understand it all myself, and I'm no novice. Hi, We were about to purchase a Developer license for AfFiler (a PDF plugin), but they seem to have gone out of business. We are using Pro 8, but the quality of PDF's created when use Pro 8's PDF function on a layout with a large image (such as a form), the quality is really poor. AfFiler did a great job on the same layout. Does anyone know of another PDF plugin, or know of a way to get a Developer License for AfFiler? Thanks, jd.

I must replace the Troi Numbers plug in function. I was using it in FM6 to calculate totals of invoices for each customer in a portal (BalanceCalc)showing a running total of the related customer's invoices in each customer's account. The total field (TotalBalanceCalc)was placed on the related record (not in a portal). I could find > or < any value of the total field & sort the found set balances in assending or decending order. In FM8 the (BalanceCalc) function still works, but the (TotalBalanceCalc) field just shows up blank. I replaced the (TotalBalanceCalc) field with a summary field of related records. As I have a phone list I am calling from, I am looking to insert a function (button) after the number that I click and then I have the speakers on and then use the dtfm signal to dial the number. Is it a plugin for that? Or a better solution?

Hi Guys, I've got a palette of about 18 colours, created by simplehighlight plugin. I'd like to create another field which calculates the stored RGB values of the colours that I have created with the plugin, is this possible? I was previously using jpgs, and named the jpegs RGB(whatever the values were). I then created a field which which calculated the value by taking the name of the jpeg. This worked great on a Mac, but as I'm working on a PC, these jpgs are supposed to be solid however FileMaker has a tendency to apply a furry edge and a gradient to white. Hence the reason to use this plugin. Thanks for any help

I’ve had a plugin (Display Toolbox) on my drive for years and finally got round to testing it! However, I now have a problem! When testing it on my Home PC (Win XP Home SP2 – FMP developer 6), it works fine. Unfortunately, in the office (Win 2k SP4 – FMP developer 6), it returns an error “0” for any functions to do with a File window. Hiding the taskbar and desktop work and I can also call the version function. I have a feeling this has something to do with ActiveX, but am not sure. Anyone out there using this plugin who can help?

Is there a plugin of sorts that enables me some rfid functionality in filemaker? Hi everyone, I downloaded the latest trial version of Troi File plug-in. When FM is running with the plug-in installed, it crashes every time when I try to copy anything to the clipboard. When I remove the plug-in from the extensions folder, the problem disappears. I am using FM 8.02 on a Pentium 4 XPS with 1GB of RAM and XP SP2. Can anyone please help me? thanks!!

I'd like to write a plug-in to run only on the host using FM Server 8 Advanced. Tech support at FM just told me WinExample.fmx (sample on their CDs) is written only to be run on the client side, and they don't yet have an example to run on the host side. I presume they haven't yet done much with this new feature of FM Server 8 Adv. Can anyone point me to a sample plug-in that runs only on the server side?

I'm learning to write PlugIns with C++ for FM 8 on Win with MS Visual Studio 8. How do I convert fmx::TextAutoPtr to System::String and vice versa? Want to use regex in FileMaker. -Jens
