SuperContainer by 360 Works

Discussions on how to implement and deploy SuperContainer by 360Works.

SuperContainer is a Java web servlet which allows you to upload, view, and download images and files from a web server. In conjunction with the FileMaker Web Viewer feature, it is an effective replacement for container fields in solutions which require users to read and store files associated with records in FileMaker. I'm struggling with getting a simple database with SC working on an FM hosted server so I thought I would start at square one and try to understand the basics with setting up SC as a stand alone application on my home computer. Question 1 (SC Server Files Directory): When I run the SCserver.jar, the server starts, and I get an option button to change a) Port, b ) Files Directory, c) Register my license, and d) add optional security settings. My logic tells me that whatever I put in the Files Directory will determine the root path of where my documents will be stored when I drag and drop documents into my SC web viewer. Is this a logical thought? And I presume it also …

  2. We've been using SuperContainer on multiple computers and operating systems, but after updating SuperContainer on our server to the current version (2.89), no one seems to be able to drag-and-drop files and photos to SuperContainer WebViewers. Also the WebViewers now look different: they have buttons for Browse and Upload, and upon attempting to drag-and-drop a file, an error displays: "Message from webpage: Drag-and-drop uploads are not supported on this computer. Use the upload form instead." Our server is Filemaker Server 12, updated with SuperContainer 2.89 and Java 7 Update 25. One example user has Filemaker 12 Advanced, Windows 8, SuperContainer 2.89, …

We use FileMaker 11 and the latest versions of SuperContainer, and 360Works Email plugin. On and before Fri, April 19, when we sent attachments, the recipient received an email with attachments with the filenames of the files we sent. On and after Mon April 22, everything looks normal in the database, but the recipient receives files named the primary key of the attachment record. For instance, instead of two attachments, one called PhotosOfFlowers and BillForFlowers, the recipient might receive two attachments, one called 23423 and one called 23424. 6. I have used SC for images and webpublishing for a long time, and it works GREAT!! I use fms 12 on a macmini. We have now started to only have electronic documents for incoming invoices as pdf files, it also works great. But now we also want to organize our contracts and other text documents and when I insert xls files into my document database, in supercontainer, i got some problems where I could need some tips from you. When viewed on a layout with a webviewer and the url is containing a supercontainer url with RawData the xls files is downloaded to my desktop. How can I avoid this? Looking forward to hear from you.

I've got a baffling problem after updating to latest version of Supercontainer. Basically, in a webviewer in a Filemaker client, supercontainer works fine, but via IWP (which has been working for years), nothing appears - just an empty field where either the document (if there is one) or the upload controls should be (if there isn't yet a document). Different browsers, computers, OSes - all exhibit same behaviour. A different file hosted on same server works perfectly normally. Any ideas? James Reed

I think it used to be that a web viewer pointed to a URL like: http://myserver/SuperContainer/RawData/FolderName/6932 would display the contents of a PDF? Now it will display image files normally but not the contents of a PDF. If the file is a PDF, its just blank. How can the contents of a PDF be displayed on screen?

While I greatly appreciate the improvements and bug fixes on upgrades, if you are using the installer to "Upgrade" an installation with Filemaker Pro Adv. it does not remember the file path. It diverts to the default path for images. Since I have modified the path to a different location for images it is a real PIA to edit the .xml files to redo the location. Please consider having the installer read the new path first and then restore it. David

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, but this was previously working fine, and somehow now when I'm using the plugin to import to a container field (Filemaker 11), I'm getting the filename prefaced with "filename=". Â See attached, left is webviewer, then after using SCGetContainer, right is the container field (internal). Â Any ideas? Â James Reed

I can create and delete directories/files in SuperContainer this way - as could anyone else from a browser by merely knowing the above URL. We're using WorldCloud to host a FMS 11 database with SC and while we get 20 GB of space included, we have over 10GB of SC-stored files and we're bursting at the seams. SCChooseFile apparently won't allow this with scripting in IWP, and doesn't show a file chooser dialog, though it works fine in the FM client. I have changed the protocol from "Files/" to "RawData/" and for some reason I can no longer authenticate. Even after a file restart. We are using credentials to pass and login to our server, and this worked fine when we are using "Files/" however, when changing this to "RawData/" this no longer works and is being rejected. Appreciate any insight/help if anyone has experienced the same.

I am having an issue with inconsistent thumbnail display when using the ScGetContainer function.  I have two PDF files that appear identical when viewed with Adobe Acrobat, Preview and as an ScRawData URL.  However, when I attempt to display a thumbnail image in a FM12 container field by using Set Field with a calculated result of ScGetContainer ( $ScPDFPath ; "" ; "" ; "" ; "page=" & $Counter ), the first files appears extremely grainy and the second file is fine.   Conversely, if I manually specify a static set of data variables SCGetContainer ( $ScPDFPath ; 1600 ; 1200 ; 72 ; "page=" & $Counter ), the file that worked correctly now appears gra…

  61. I have a web page that allows users to upload files using normal HTTP upload. The PHP page to process the upload uses PHP's standard move_uploaded_file() function to get the user's file into a known directory, called "docsTemp" on this system. That works. My script then calls the the upload method of SC's PHP class to move the file into the SC directory. That SC step fails with error 404 (not found). The goal is to move the file from docsTemp to a nested folder inside the SC folder. The script specifies a section/subsection folder structure. SC, when used through FM web viewer, will create folders as specified by the web viewer URL. So the folder I would expect my PH…

It's time to launch it on a live, production server, which has SC installed using the Tomcat method. The system is not behaving the same, nor the way I would expect.  Normally, SuperContainer places uploaded files into a Files folder within the SC directory. On the new, production server I am able to upload with both the SC plugin and the upload button in the SC web viewer. But for me the uploaded files are going into folders the top level of the SC directory. These folders, created by SC, are at the same level as Files. To initially create the Files folde…

I just recently transitioned a single machine deployment (windows) into a multiple machine deployment (databases on windows, WPE and web server on Mac). Does SC have to be installed on the WPE machine, or can it stay on the database server? All the files are located on the original single-deployment machine. Everytime I try to connect now, I get a prompt to set the SuperContainer Base URL, and I presume that is because the WPE/Tomcat are no longer active on that machine. Is that correct? What is my best option for getting SC to run in this multiple machine deployment?
