    Hi, I am selling articles which I buy in € to different countries online. So sometimes I have to sell in $ or £. I am wondering how to tell FM Startingpoint to use a specific currency. Basically now FMSP is in $. So I would like to have FMSP calculating the value of my sales price in € (which I introduced in "products") into $ when I have an "estimate" in $. (and so on for £) The only thing I should have to do is once a month optimising in the database the value of € to $ and € to £.     Dear sirs, When I drop a pdf-file (invoice) in a digital doc-container of "projects" it works. However, if later I want to open that pdf-file from the container, I get following error : "the file "51285.png" could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognise". I don't know what I am doing wrong because the file format I use is "pdf" and not "png".

  4. Hi, I have a Filemaker Pro 11.04 database running and it's great. However I wanted to make a simple amendment which is proving very frustrating to do. I have a customer contacts layout that I can click on a button to create invoices. All the relevant contact data is ported and I get taken to a new layout (Invoice Data) where I input the relevant information for invoices (the items, quantities etc). When I'm ready to print I click another button on this layout and it takes me to another invoice layout (Invoice Print) that condenses the information input into the data layout into a more printer friendly version and prints it off (via script) automatically - this has work…

  7. I have a client who is being difficult about paying my invoices in a timely manner. If I put a date, even the day I send him the invoice, it goes into his 'I'll pay this sometime in the next week or two' pile. He says that the absolute only way he will process my invoice expediently is if I have 'due upon receipt' in the due date box he sees at the top of my printed invoice. So I'm wondering if there is a way to add 'due upon receipt' to the date due box at the bottom right of the invoices entry template. Right now, it's a calculated field.   8. Hello As you will notice, I'm working like mad on starting point to get it customized to taste! I found this issue with DATE FORMATTING. I use "the rest of the planet" date format DD/MM/YYYY which is my system date format. Everything goes OK until now. I tried to change a payment period from monthly period to weekly and the date assigned to start and end period reverted to MM/DD/YYYY. Both methods drag and drop and insert button were tested to add a PDF FILE and give the same issue. I have created a drop down menu in a Projects Layout that allows me to enter each Job Type that makes up the entire Project on a portal (1 to as many as 15 items that make up an entire project).     Hello, I have two issues regarding importing my data from an excel CSV file to FM Starting Point. When I import to the Accounts module first to get all company data set up it works fine, however, when I then import to the contacts module (which has contacts related to the previously imported Accounts) the contacts import just fine but none of the related contacts are showing up in the Accounts module. I have used common linking data (such as company ID) that is associated with both the Account and the Contact but that doesn't appear to make them recognize one another as related. What I've done : 1- went to Custom Functions and placed a remar on every line of the function fnPhone(text) and IT DID NOT WORK! Why?     I have been using FMpro12 for over a year now. Was able to create the invoice to pull from multiple lines on an excel. Did different types of the temp for different areas of the company. Well I just got a new manager and he has been sending in his reports for invoice on multiple excel spreadsheets. So I have to go in and make invoices for each spreedsheet . I was wondering if there is anyway in fmpro 12 to import all the pages from excel and have each invoice file made into a pdf all at once. Not one page at a time.

  15. I use FMSP from Rcconsulting. really love that product and very grateful to Richards and his team. The above script scans bar-codes items (my products) for sales. Now the issue is this, each scan of the same item suppose to add an increment in the quantity of the item and not adding the item on a new row thus having multiple lines of the same item. basically one needs to manually enter the quantity of the products after scanning instead of continuous scanning with the scan gun. Is there a way this can be fixed? I really need help.

  21. Hi, I'm working in the small recruiting company and we just started to use FM and Starting point. I loaded contacts and projects data into the database. Then I wanted to cross reference Contacts (candidates), that we want to be part of the already existing Project (search), to that particular Project, I could not do that. I can open only a new project from contacts tab. Is there a script that I can use to connect specific contact with already existing project and have that information be displayed in the contact's secondary tab? I would appreciate any help. Hey,  This is a post about a recent patch we did on FMSP 4.3  The Issue: The address fields inside the contacts module were not Tabbing correctly due to a script trigger.  Solution: Change the Halt script script steps in script # 0834 into exit scripts with a result of one.   Issue #2: Geolocation for Timezone is failing  Solution #2: There are a few Script changes in Script # 0845 for this one, in order to create a failsafe incase the script enters an infinite loop.     What scripts do i need to edit to get the audit log to show every field change and not just those related to loading, closing and inventory changes? I pre-emptively created a related table linking all the unique table ids to a master record, but i seem to have trouble making the auditlog functions to show all the changes to a record. I know how to use a simpler log system but it doesn't seem to work across relational links. Ideally, I want it to show what record was changed, by whom, and what time it was made. but i want this done for all the 30 or so tables in FMSP. I also want the ability to store the log for each day and be able to reload them.

Also, How can I modify the TODO/Calendar system to for example, Cross polinate multiple users? I already have a table called (Crewxstaff).. which has staff id and project id fields, I want to be able to Write just one Task and have it apply to apply to each person with the matching Project id. I currently have it recording each assignment with dates and times. How should I test a new assignment to only show Staff who are not assigned, and (active?)     I have been using FM starting Point and Filemaker for sometime although I would characterize myself as still a beginner. I have been searching for a long time for a way to insert a line into the middle of an invoice table. I wish to use the line as a seperator for groups of items invoiced to one customer. I would prefer to do this rather than make one invoice for each group. This is easy to do as I make up an invoice but I can find no way to insert a line after the fact. Yes, I could export the invoice to a .pdf or Microsoft Word and edit it there but so much easier if I could to this within Filemaker. Is it possible to do this in the data entry layout?

    I just downloaded this solution. I checked in preferences and did not see a way to change what appears to be a forced location of the window being anchored to the left side of the screen. If I move the window, clicking on any menu item moves my window back to this location. Is there a way to stop this behavior? I prefer the window on the top right corner of the monitor. It appears to be happening due to the use of "Resize to Fit" without reading the current location of the window. I can just disable the step, but it seems odd that such an elaborate solution would move windows like this. Maybe I am missing something.

    I'm currently evaluating if FMSP will meet my needs for invoicing. Our average invoice is about 2 items, and usually no more than 7 line items. What is critical for our business is that the invoice contains photos of the products. Photos in the body might not work for space reasons, and I was wondering if it's possible to produce a invoice with the photos of the products in the footer of the invoice? TIA Tim

    I' Need the ability to Match Multipe ids from a repeating field to another table. Would Making that table's matching field repeatable work? The intent is that if I go to the calendar, where each user is listed, filter for person x, He will appear despite not being the primary ID on a show or do I need to Add a new Join table, Add the Extra users, and Cross Relate it where ever that "staff id" is. such pk-id_crew, Staff ID, and match staff id to the Primary Key table where staff is called up? (for example, the Staff and project PK's) Currently the Calendar is ignoring the other people in my table.

  35. in Filemaker 12 I could enter multiple types of fields with set Field, but in FM13, the menu does not let me enter say set field schedule::project[ id_project; $ProjectId] it either demands I create a calculation (and making idproject = $projectid, does NOT work) and the calculation button stops me with saying " expecting other command " this is really iritating as I wish to be able to just directly edit scripts without having to go through popups.     For my business model, a project is a month. I am currently only using projects to track income earned (linked to invoices). Before I expand that to also track expenses and time worked, I need to understand where FMSP is seeing costs being incurred. Â For most months, I'm seeing some data I don't understand in the summary tab for projects where you get gross profits.     Firstly, I have to take my hat off to the team for such an impresive product - FM Starting Point. As I have been looking into using FM Starting Point as a means to keep track of contacts and meetings with contacts, I really don't want to do double the work load by adding To-Do's (creating appointments) in FMSP and then having to add them again to Calendar a second time. Is there a way that when a To-Do is created it could be add to my Calendar? The reason for doing this is to allow me to have the current data on my iPhone and keep me in sync as well as informed. Finally I'd like to have the same container window like in accounts, where you can show contacts within same account. So I'd like to show contacts within same project. Any hint?   48. Hello All, I am using FMSP to track products and orders from suppliers. I need to track qty in from invoices as well as product variations and qty on hand at different locations. The problem I have run into is tracking products with variations. When placing an order with a supplier 1 item number can be associated with multiple UPC/barcodes. For example item number 123 includes 4 different item variations each with it’s own barcode, so the PO/Invoice from supplier shows I ordered a qty of 24 but I actually received 6 each of 4 different items.     Folks, hopefully not a big issue. I've just spent an afternoon moving contacts and accounts into the FMSP database via csv. They're separate but many of the contacts belong to companies which I've entered in as accounts. The issue is that the accounts don't show up as being connected to the contacts as I'd expect. I'm assuming it's something related to the 'relookup' command but I've tried that on both the account field in the contacts and the accounts table and it comes up with the error "There are no fields based on the field..." Any hints as to how I might get this working?

    I'm a newbie on barcodes, scripts and such so be gentle. Since I'm learning and missed the 25% incentive off on the inevitable purchase of Barcode Creator, I found and am wowfully using a cheaper alternative to learn from. I am now able to search by scanning a barcode for an item in my database (1,100+ items), generate a barcode by entering one of like 15 symbologies then copy it to the clipboard and paste it in the FMSP container field (SKU or serial), print said barcode, enter the barcode as data and scan an item and drop it in an invoice or estimate and much more. Hello guys, I am using the FMSP and now I am looking to make some change to ensure we can track changes to the inventory (in stock, re-orders, new_stock_amount), etc. I added some field in the product table, but even before I started trying to see it it would work, I realized that it would not. Am I right to think that I need to add another table, like products_line_re-order to be able to track this changes? I do not want to use a second copy of FMSP (Which I though about) only for this company, so I could track my inventory, my re-orders, etc... Can you guys point me to the right direction? I just got a new Apple Time Capsule and I know I need to do port forwarding to port 5003, but the instructions with the unit are terrible and port forwarding is tricky to begin with.     I have started to use FMSP in 'serious mode' after a fair bit of testing. It is excellent but I ran into a wee issue which I am struggling to solve - maily due to my lack of knowledge with themes. I carried out some very simple edits to a layout eg moving a field a few pixels in the Accounts (L10 Data entry). When I go back to Browse the theme has 'disappeared.
