Currently using Filemaker Pro Advanced to configure tables fields and layouts, and to import initial data. Then copy files onto filemaker GO on iPad (use onedrive shared folder), do offline logging on iPad (no wifi no phone signal). Then when back into office use a button on a layout to export the data CSV on the iPad, which onedrive syncs and a process on a server scoops the CSV imports the data into the main MS SQL database, which doesnt use filemaker. Looking at moving to Filemaker Cloud to make the process of deploying new versions of the project to all iPads easier. Problem is that filemaker Cloud requires internet connection, these iPad…

Hello - One of my FMS went down for about two hours today, and the other three did not sync during that time. When the server came online again, Mirrorsync picked back up but now seems to be stuck in an eternal loop 'resolving and writing conflicts'. We are currently using mirrorsync 4 with 50 devices. We wish to update to mirrorsync 6. When we tried the upgrade button on the order page we were told our license expired and can not be upgraded. Does that mean we must pay for another 50 devices ? What's the process of updating from an expired license (with devices) to mirrorsync 6 ?

Hello, We are MirrorSync 6 users and we work with an app in Filemaker Go from multiple devices and update the information through MirrorSync when we have a Wifi connection. The problem that arises is that we need to save photos in a container field (they take up a lot) and we would like it to disappear from the app on the iPad once uploaded to the server. Can MirrorSync do this? Is there an alternative solution? Thank you!

Hi, I have MirrorSync 5 running on a FM15 server. I'd like to upgrade to MirrorSync 6 on FM18 server I have about 15 syncing clients who are geographically-disparate and in different time zones. Is there any way I can migrate the server and let the users keep syncing through the process? Or do I need to coordinate the users to make a final sync on 15 server, then download a new version from 18 server? THanks, ft.

Hi! We just upgraded from MirrorSync 5 (where everything was working great) to version 6. Now whenever I edit my configuration (from FM to external SQL), none of my configurations/field maps seem to save. Every time I go back in to modify a single field, I have to re-set every single field mapping. Then when I try to sync, it fails and gives me: com.prosc.sync.DatabaseException: Got a '?' instead of field values from FileMaker. This can happen if the field names are changed in the hub or spoke database. Try re-running the configuration to update the list of fields, and distributing a new offline copy. Any ideas? Hi, I am migrating one by one my db's to Mirrorsync 6. With one db I have a strange problem with the number seperators decimal "," and thousand "." (like "1.234,56EUR) A number value like "1,419" is after the sync 1.419,000 This happens when opening the local / remote file on FMgo or FMProADV on OSX When opening the files directly on these devices from the server this does not occur ! I have a FMS 18 server that has 20 database files that I would like to sync nightly to another FMS 18 server as a manual failover server. I believe the configuration is FileMaker Server to FileMaker Server for $1600, but is there an additional fee for syncing the 20 database files?

I'm having an issue with downloading the data to an ipad to open in filemaker go. Usually I would email the link and open it on the ipad which would open safari and start downloading it. When it was done it would prompt to open in filemaker. Now when it's done it prompts asking if I want to download the file and has a download button as the only option. Clicking the download button starts to download the whole file in safari but freezes at less than a mb.

I have a timestamp field on a layout it does not have any auto options - it is used for data and only scripted to indicate a record is expired. On initial sync all the blank records now contain 12/31/1969 4:00 PM making navigation invalid as that is part of my test. Not sure where this is coming from other then MS The MS Config does not use this field as a Modification timestamp or any creation timestamp.

I am seeing this as a Registered License name showing up multiple times with different IP address including mine - I have no devices named this way and I had only synced with my iPhone. It seems to be taking over my username of my device. or burning extra licenses.

Hi, when upgrading vom Mirrorsync 5.x to 6.03 the installation failed. This was on a Windows Server 2016 Datacenter, FMS 17 When I try to start the 360Works Admin Console on the server the Error as in Image 2 occurs. Before I try this I want to run this by someone who is more experienced than I am: Syncing 4 Filemaker Servers one on each continent, with about 20 sync layouts on each machine. Let's call my synced Servers FMS1, FMS2, FMS3, FMS4. One of my sync layouts, let's call it sync_LOTSOFDATA, contains large text fields. However, only FMS1 and FMS2 need to sync sync_LOTSOFDATA. Hi There, I upgraded my clients FMS from 17 to 18 and now MirrorSync has stopped working. I have been trying to sort this out and the best I can find is there is an issue with OpenJDK Java. For the FileMaker Server 18 install I used the OpenJDK Java files as directed during the install. When I tried to update my MirrorSync config I could not get into MirrorSync due to a Java error. I need to get MirrorSync working, what would be the best way for me to get MirrorSync back up and running?

MirrorSync 5 .0 rev 13461 running on macOS 10.13.6 and FileMaker Server 18.0.2.217 When the computer gets rebooted, MirrorSync is not starting up. I'm running the client on a different computer because of Java issues, and after the server reboot the client says that MirrorSync is not running. So, short of reinstalling MirrorSync (which does work), how do I start the service? And how can I get it to automatically start? After banishing Oracle Java, I installed the Amazon Corretto version of openjdk 1.8.0_222 on my FileMaker servers. FMS is happy with this version, but the latest Mirror Sync apparently doesn't see it. I get the "you need to download the Java Runtime Environment" error. And to add insult to injury, the More Info link takes me to the Oracle Java download page for version 8. Will Mirror Sync work with Corretto? If so, thoughts on why it is not seeing it? Dave

Hi, MIrrosync v5.0045, FileMaker Server 15.x. We have been getting a lot of the subject errors over the last few months on a couple of tables in our solution. We had been running for several years previously without such errors. It's quite possible I made a change that has caused this but I cannot work out what it is. The tables themselves are configured to 'RW from Hub and Spoke', 'merge fields' with the 'most recent change winning'. I would not have expected to get such errors with these settings. Hello, I am attempting to use this new feature in version 4 for deploying new versions of offline files. I want to make sure my hosted file that is being downloaded has the correct info in the mirror sync table. I have a seperate mobile file used by the iPads, seperate from the server file used for the desktop users. I am making my updates to the hosted mobile file. Questions: Since a single record is required in the mirrorsync table so as to put the new version number in field: "DatabaseVersion", should I have all other fields be blank in the mirror sync table? I assume all other records should be deleted from all tables, or is it ok…

I have a small bug in my app, not related to mirror sync that make the users land on a sync layout. My main mistake was to use the sync layouts in some of my non sync related scripts. So basically , while I'm investigating how some of the users get stuck there I would like to put a button over all the sync fields that would get the user back to the main menu. Is it safe to put a button over the fields of the sync layouts ? I would guess so but better be safe than sorry.

I am trying to install the mirror sync application on an ec2 linux instance and I am having trouble. I copy the war file into the /var/lib/tomcat8/webapps directory. Nothing happens after that except that I get a new folder in the /etc/tomcat8/Catalina/localhost directory called MirrorSync.xml, which I edited as I needed with username/password/hash. But, the MirrorSync folder that is supposed to populate in the webapps folder does not populate. So I basically end up with nothing and can't obviously run the set up. Any thoughts? Hello 360Works, I am looking to refresh my current database into a new cleaner version. During this process I am looking to modify the primary keys so that I am not using user friendly serial numbers (example invoice ID's). To do this requires some work on my end, and I have consulted the advanced topic section regarding Mirror Sync Managed vs Developer managed. I imagine that developer managed keys are faster than MirrorSync managed. Is there any data to support my assumptions? It would also seem that there maybe other reasons that you would want to use developer managed over MirrorSync managed, for instance I am thinking that using multiple sync configurations…

I noticed there were some improvements mentioned for MirrorSync 5 around password. I am currently using MirrorSync 4. With MirrorSync 5, are you now able to sync passwords to offline files? One of our biggest challenges is managing passwords for our offline iPad users, since if they forget their password, there is no way to reset it without re-downloading the whole file. Thanks.

When ever we have to deploy new links to users it's a bit of a process - you have ensure they have deleted old links from email or shared notes. In addition it always felt much slower to download the files via the Safari on iOS which has to toggle between FMGo and Safari. However once installed and you pushed out changes with the MS 5 version update feature, is very smooth. Hi, We have a database running in FM17Advanced on our server. Our users on the IPads are entering data in their offline copy and once a day they sync to the server. At the end of the day all data should be gathered on the server. The data on the spokes aren’t from any use for them anymore. Is it possible (or useful) to sync only from the spokes to the hub and not bi-directional in that case ? What about updating version in that case ? Thank you

Server was running fine however MS starting performing very badly taking forever to download clones Temp Folders were 5-GB or more Took the opportunity to upgrade to FMS18 and un installed and reinstalled MS imported the configs and now this error: Need to get this back on line Sunday Evening for the field inspectors. I have an existing Mirror Synch installation. I have recently changed the IP address and needed to update the configuration. Now I get an error stating that fmxdbc extended privileges are not enabled for the account. I have checked and double-checked and it is enabled. What might be going on?

I have several techs with iPads that perform syncs when they complete work. I have one tech in particular who starting last week was no longer able to sync because of the following error: I'm not sure why his iPad has done this. All of the other techs can sync without issue. I’m fairly new with MirrorSync but very familiar with FileMaker Pro. Love the MirrorSync way of syncing my solution on my iPad to my FM Server, thank you for the program 360 Works. My question is, I have a button on my spoke solution to sync with my server. I simply wish to have a time stamp of the last sync above my button on my iPad layout. I’ve tried SQL calculations pulling from the MirrorSync layout on the server but obviously the iPad solution isn’t getting that sync time stamp, hence this question. So is there a simple way of grabbing the sync time stamp and transferring that to the solution on my iPad every time I sync? Thanks in advance Mark

Hi, During the process of attempting to configure Mirror Sync, when we attempt to choose the database name, we receive an error 959, Unknown error. This error tells us it is unable to load the database names and we cannot proceed. We have confirmed the following: 1) XML is enabled on FMS 2) The FM account we are attempting to access has XML enabled 3) We have re-started the FMS machine and the status shows XML is activated. Hi Forum, Can anybody point me to the right direction on getting FileMaker unstored calculation field values synced into (any sort of) SQL database (one way sync)? I understand that unstored calculation fields do not contain any stored data and their value can be dependent on a Filemaker context (including relationships, global variables etc)... Rather than scripting some export from FileMaker itself, could MirrorSync do the job somehow? Thank you Serge.

I'm looking at pushing out a new table to be Synced to my Mobile Users. Currently we have them download an empty clone of the file for their local copy. Do they all need to update to latest version of the empty file before I update the MirrorSync client to include the new table? My concern is that if I make the update before everyone has the new file, then they will not be able to sync properly.

I client of mine is getting this error every time they try to sync. Any thoughts on how to correct this would be appreciated.

Jesse mentioned in another post that in a future version of MirrorSync the plan is to replace the JDBC and to implement the DataAPI. I am curious if there is any sort of data metrics that can be implemented in the current version so that we can plan for data consumption for synchronizations? Is the data API used to communicate to for setup of each sync and thus minimal data consumption and use the current process for moving the data, or is all the data pushed via the DataAPI? Curious...

Hi, We have approx 3.5GB in 3 files. The data changes quite a lot. My users go into the field with laptops, gather data and do a full, bi-directional sync. This sync works great, but can sometimes take considerable time depending on how much data has been changed/gathered on the server since the last sync. Is is possible to create a second sync option so that, in addition to 'Full Sync', the user would have an 'Upload Only' sync option. They could use the latter to quickly offload their gathered-data to the mothership. Running MirroSync 4 and recently upgraded to Mojave. I downloaded the client file to the desktop. When I launch it I see the MirrorSync icon splash on the screen. Then when using the client, there is no icon in the dock. It's just blank. Any thoughts on what I could be missing?

I’ve just finished setting up a server-to-server sync involving several files (most work in a separated model, although some are not, and they all have references to each other). I'm using the XML sync option and I don't need all the data to sync to the spoke server, so I have implemented constraining script steps to isolate just the data that does need to sync. I am a sole home user, not a business, keeping my personal records in a Filemaker Pro 16 database on my desktop (windows 10) and Filemaker Go on my iPad. No other person is involved. All my clients are reporting that they cannot download a new version of the datatabase. They keep getting the message as per the attachment. It says that the download URL may have been revoked. How can this be when it is being generated from within the Mirrorsync script? They can download from a link that I send by email. It should be the exact same link that the Mirrorsync script is using. Hi We're doing a one-way sync from our FM Server to a SQL Server instance. MirrorSync is installed on the SQL Server instance which is configured as the spoke. This has been running for several years now with no problems. Do we need to run IIS on the SQL Server box? IT is on a mission to disable/remove all unnecessary services from our server VMs and have asked me whether IIS is required here. I somewhat rashly said "I don't think so" and they've disabled IIS. I'm not seeing any error messages in the MirrorSync logs and data is synchronising with no problems. However my MirrorSyncConfigClient.jnlp client doesn't seem to be responding. I'm adding some custom SQL qualifiers - WHERE (sale_status available calc=1) this fails as the field name has 'calc' in it which I imagine is a reserved word. If I rename the field saleStatusAvailableCalc it works fine. But I have many huge ipad databases in the wild and can't update the field name just now.... So I'd like to escape it - but WHERE (\"sale_status available calc\"=1) fails with a syntax error Is it possible to do a normal escape at this point? thanks Steven

This may not be related to MirrorSync but I have not been able to identify any other reason. MirrorSync will update records that have a changed modification timestamp. I have a table that over 800 records in it and when I performed a sync this afternoon it took for ever to complete. This is not the first time has happened and it is not just to this table. After checking the sync I found that 248 of the 818 records had been modified. The account name for the modification on all the records was mine. Now, there is absolutely no way that I modified any of these records. As I mentioned earlier, this is happening to several tables. I have tried to isolate this problem …

Hello We have a MirrorSync installation with 7 configurations and 144 devices syncing. One of the configurations data file is 80gb. So we are using a fair amount of disk space. We are interested in how we can 'trim' down the files MS generates - *safely*. So, is there any guidance on how to cull these files? Thanks, Mark

I have a situation where I do not use the mirrorsync method of distributing file updates. Instead, after performing a sync, the spoke checks the hub to see if a newer version of the solution file is available, and if so, the user is prompted to perform the update. If yes, the spoke database is closed, replaced with the new (empty) version from a container field on a hosted database, and then a second sync is triggered again to put all of the data back. All of this is done in iOS devices, and all of this works as expected. The only issue has to do with the amount of time it takes to perform a sync from scratch again. What is the typical procedure when you have to move your filemaker server to a new server with a new ip address ? Are there instructions or a tutorial for a smooth transition ? I understand that we can't install a license of mirrorsync on 2 computers. Let's suppose the current Mirrorsync license has 50 users. Let's say we buy a new license for the new server that syncs data from the old server and the new database and 50 users. Can we merge the 2 licenses together and have 100 users on the new installation after we delete the previous installation ? I'm quite intimidated by the task ahead.

I don't know what's going on but today, each record created on the device is being duplicated (on the device) after the sync to the server. I haven't changed my mirrorsync config or custom script. What I did though was to try to install the ssl certificate. I was successful . Tried a sync with no creation ...looked fine to me. I then created a record and got the duplicate. I then disabled ssl in the filemaker server 16 admin console and rebooted the server. I started from scratch with an initial sync. Looked fine. Created a record , synced and got the duplicate again. I am having an issue where one of the tables I am syncing goes from 70 writes per sec to 5 writes per second. This write speed decreases incrementally through out the initial sync for the specific table. All other tables I am syncing hover around 70 writes per second. It is taking the iOS devices to write 7500 total records in 15 minutes. The problem table has 3100 of those records. This table takes 13 of the 15 minutes. I inherited a client with a database first implemented in 2006 and which is currently hosted by a FM hosting service on a shared FMS14 machine. The client is in a remote location with poor connectivity and is having me implement MIrrorsync so he can work offline without the incessant delays he currently suffers. Hi, Apologies if this is in any documentation, I couldn't find anything to specifically answer my questions so thought I would post here. I am planning to upgrade a MirrorSync install straight from v3.16 to v5.0. At the same time, I would be upgrading from FileMaker Server 14 to FMS16. The current configuration runs between FMS and FMGo spoke files, with changes made to the customization scripts. So my quick questions are: a) Is MirrorSync 5 compatible with FMS16 b) Do I need to re-paste script steps and provide new Spoke files to all users after upgrade? What would be the impact on existing users if I remove tables from the sync and edit the mirrorsync scripts on the server ? I would not delete the actual layouts or tables. Would that delete records on the device or the tables would just not be synced even if they have not updated the mirrorsync script on their device ?

I would like to change the table occurrence of a sync layout. 1.The layout would remain the same, same fields (but from a different occurrence). 2.The filter would return the same records just faster and on a different table occurrence. Ex: Sync layout: TestLayout Original table occurrence: Test New table occurrence : SyncTest ( occurrence of test) What would happen to the users who haven't got the new version of the database and sync? Would that cause problems because they are expecting records from test and get records from SyncTest or would that work just fine because they actually get the expected fields ?

I noticed that this step is taking quite a long time. Any way to speed it up ? This is with an ios---fm server (v 16) sync.

If we use UUID's for all our key fields can we remove all the relations from the foreign key mapping section ? If so, would it result in a smaller script and a slightly better performance ?

Greetings, we just successfully implemented a server to server sync for a 100+ user solution. Overall the results were fantastic. The key issue is that when large updates are made on the hub server to 1000+ records, the sync can take over 1 hour to update all of the records in the spoke server. (We're talking a table with 30+ fields). On the contrary, when the same exact updates are made to 1000 records on the spoke server, the sync completes in a matter of seconds. We are having a hard time understanding why the changes that happen on the spoke sync so much faster. Any insight without having to dig into server / network configurations?

I have yet to issue a 'new version' push to end users. I am curious about the following. Currently all users followed the 4v link to download a clone and then sync. Can I filter records without having them deleted on the spoke by the sync ? Let's say I have a table "Things" with a field "User" and I want to sync all the things of a particular user but would also like to keep the records of User 'Default' without having to sync them (there are many , they don't have to be synced and they would be included in the empty database). I understand that it would be quite the task to update MirrorSync to use the FM 16 REST API but I'm curious if it could be done and if this would result in a better overall performance.

We have a duplication script takes a single record and duplicates it (plus all related records) around 50 to 100 times. We are using get(UUID) as the auto entered calculation of the pk. Maybe once in one hundred times or less, MS reports a duplicate pk. When we check the database where the record was created (Hub), there is no duplicate key. The duplicate is only on the spoke database, ie in a record created completely by MS. (For this test we created all records on the Hub only). So this means that MS is creating a record in the spoke database but using the wrong primary key for that record, presumably the pk from the record that was duplicated. We…

Hi, One of our clients is triailling MirrorSync, it's going great so far but there has been a problem syncing 25 videos down to iPads. These are among many thousands of synced records (videos, images, pdfs) everything else synced fine, just these 25 failed. The 25 that failed were the 25 largest. The videos range between about 100-500MB. We're looking at compressing them now and hopefully that will help. Hey guys, How does Mirrorsync actually work? Does it use the creation timestamp to find and sync the same records? I have a problem where after a sync last night, I'm left with about 146 duplicates of each record. Quite a few of my records don't have creation field data as this field was only created after I already had many records in the database. I went to update my configuration today. Everything has been running fine, we're just doing some updates. MirrorSync was open and when I tried to get past the screen where it says "make tables etc" I got a java.lang.NullPointerException as per the attached. If I try to submit a bug I get another error as attached. I have rebooted and now as soon as MirrorSync is opened I get the same error. I have tried to reinstall, uninstall etc, all to no avail. Any ideas? I need to try to fix today before the work week for the users starts very early tomorrow. Thanks

I haven't tried or tested, curious to know if you deploy local notifications, like a reminder to for something in your FMGO solution an a few hours from now. And then perform a sync only to be informed that you have a 'new version' does the iOS device remember the notification and execute at set time or does removing the individual file remove any pending local notifications?

HI, Sync has been working well for months. But... an external contractor has done something to modify 800,000+ records. Unfortunately that change is being pushed to 20-or-so remote clients and causing MirrorSync to collapse under the weight. I can have the remote users simply download a new copy of the database, but many of them have data to upload first. Is there any way I can have the server gather the data from the remote clients only without trying to push down the 800K+ records down to them? Thanks, ft.

I just install FMS17 and attempting to set up MirrorSync4. MirrorSync on same server as FM Server. I get error "Error 959 Cannot connect to database at http://ip/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT... I CAN access my FM file through IE and Safari as expected. Suggestions please?? Robert

After completing an initial sync to my test iPad (starting with an empty clone) none of my value lists that reference fields are working. Instead I get a message saying "No Matches Found". Value lists with custom values still work. According to the email I received after the sync completed, all of the records required for the values lists were successfully synced. Has anyone seen this before?

I am in the process of connecting an existing FileMaker database to a SQL server that is behind a web interface. I wanted to know if there is a way to send a command from the web interface to kick off a sync. For example, a user opens a record on the web, makes some changes, hits a save button. How do I get that "Save" to trigger a sync? And can I get it to sync that single record or do I need it to sync all records that have changed? Thanks in advance, Mike

I added a script in the "Post-Sync Hub actions" section of the mirrorsync customization script and tried to pass the $$MIRRORSYNC_USERTOKEN variable as the parameter. The script does get executed but with a blank parameter. P.S. I only modified the script on the server and not on the device if that makes a difference...

Hi, Could anyone give me more information about what's going on behind the scenes when using the server/mirrorsync/dbdownload/UID functionality? Is the target databased directly downloaded or is a copy created on the server first. If a copy is created, where is this filed (temporarily?) stored and is there a way to change this location? I could use another set of eyes on a problem I just discovered. I have a table, call it "Tenants" to keep it simple. On the HUB (a SQL Server DB) the primary key is pTenantID. On the FileMaker spoke the primary key is pk_TenantID. I have another table "WorkOrder" on both the hub and spoke which contains as a foreign key field, fk_TenantID to the Tenants table. When I do a sync to the spoke, all tenant records come over and are assigned PK's on the spoke. If a Work Order exists on the HUB, the corresponding tenant is properly assigned on the spoke, so if I view it on the FM database, the correct tenant is shown. After a rather unfortunate weekend where a downed power line resulted in a five-hour outage during production, I got to work this morning to a bit of a mess. The primary iPad we use in production had all the data from Saturday's production and today's and it was syncing fine. Then they brought in the secondary iPad and tried to sync it, and the fun began. First, I started getting all kinds of error messages about specific records. Then it flat-out refused to sync the iPads at all, saying they were a "different database" than what was on the server. Hi, I just activated the auto-update notification feature in MirrorSync 4. My users are on Macbooks with FM16. 2 users have reported they see the following error: " <thefile.fmp12> could not be created on this disk. Use a different name, make more room on the disk, unlock it or use a different disk" I have not had a chance to remote to anyone to check it out yet, but received these reports via email. I've just started using MirrorSync to sync our production iPads with our FileMaker server, and overall I am thrilled with the functionality. I do have one weird little issue, though, that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a table called Step Intervals, and none of the records from this table appear on the iPads after sync. It's not for any of the obvious reasons: I do have the Step intervals table checked in the MirrorSync setup, all the fields I want synced are on the sync layout, etc. However the table itself contains a self-join.
