SuperContainer by 360 Works

Hi all, Users are reporting an error in FileMaker that looks to be caused by SuperContainer. While on a layout that has a SuperContainer, a popup error message displays with: "java.lang.threaddeath". The user then cannot close this window and has to force quit FileMaker. We are running the latest SC, 2.744 on Mac OS 10.6.3 Server in standalone mode. All users that have experienced the error are running the latest version of Mac OS 10.4 or 10.5 will all secondary updates installed. I have been running my solution for over two years on SuperContainer. We have over 2m images loaded. All create thumbnails (using the Troi plugin) and then download and or view fine from SuperContainer. Very recently we have started getting some new images (jpgs). They look fine in native image programs. They load into the solution (SC) fine. The thumbnails look fine. However, when I view them in the web viewer they appear rotated. I have adjusted the aspect ration of the viewer but they always rotate. I can download using the SCDownload function and the files views perfectly. As expected when viewing them in IWP they also rotate. Very off-putting and I know my new us…

Hi, SC is working well as always, but since I changed computers, when I click on a (e.g.) .pdf file inside SC, it opens in Internet explorer, when I would like very much that the file just opens in my default .pdf browser. Hi, hope you can help. After the Mac crashing I have reinstalled Supercontainer on another Mac using Filemaker 11 Server (everything worked ok on the previous server). When I connect on a Filemaker client Mac the database and the images all view correctly. However, when I view on a web browser only a few of the images are showing. I have attached a screen grab so you can see what I mean. It's probably something to do with how I have installed the software but I can't work out why. Please help Thanks Peter

Hello, We're using SuperContainer 2.899 with FileMaker Server 13 on Windows 7. Our Windows FileMaker 13.0 v9 Pro clients don't always see image thumbnails. This is whether the URL includes noapplet or not. The image thumbnails do appear if I add a height parameter to the URL (you'll see why I tried that in the log). Any idea why this is happening? I'm trying to use SCCopy to duplicate and rename files in SuperContainer. E.G I want to duplicate the file /Files/System1/abc123/file1.pdf to /Files/Backup/2015/06/24/file1Dupe.pdf The copy process works ok, but when I attempt to copy another file to the same location, all of the folders in the new folder path (e.g Backup/2015/06/24/ ) are recreated, overwriting the previous file. I'm having problems getting SC content to print. I've tried the two main suggestions I found on this forum: 1. using noapplet, entering preview mode and stepping through each record, allowing the images to load first before printing 2. using an unstirred calculation container on the layout instead of the sc web viewer. The first suggestion doesn't work consistently, and a mix of images print...sometimes a few, sometimes most, but never all. With the second suggestion, the images are displaying as files not images. Hi, I am using the Supercontainer plugin vs 2.896 to upload pictures to SuperContainer and that script has stopped working and I get error messages like: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class java.net.SocksSocketImpl 2015TIFF/88988 /E:/InfomaticsIII/TCM[untitled]_2015033009341800_001.tif I understand that the Windows server 2011 machine is updated to Java 8 update 40, has that something to do with this? I have a script that loops through a couple hundred records in FileMaker, performing SCDownload for an image in SuperContainer for each. A few images fail to download or are incomplete (only the top half is present, the rest is gray). This happens with a different set of images each time I run the script on the same records. But here's what seems strange: When an image fails to download or is incomplete, SCDownload returns "ERROR". But SCLastError returns nothing. Under what circumstances would SCLastError return an empty result if SCDownload returns "ERROR"? Thanks, Lauren Naslund

First let me apologize if this question has already been asked. I did a search but could not find what I needed. I have a windows 7 client system that has 2 windows accounts. One account is able to click on a pdf document in a supercontainer in FileMaker 13 Pro and the document automatically opens in IE. If logged in as the other windows account and click on the document, like I did as other account, nothing happens. I have checked IE settings and both accounts are set the same. Both accounts are standard windows users. What am I missing? What should I be looking at?

When a user tries to access a missing file in the RAW, the server returns a 404 error page. How can I modify/customize that standard 404 error page? Where can I find it? Thanks!

Hi all - My client's using SuperContainer and FMP 11, and since I upgraded my workstation to Mac OS 10.10 I can't see any of his SuperContainer documents in the FileMaker UI (Webviewer) that still works for him and his users. SuperContainer asks me to authenticate as usual and accepts my credentials without objection, but afterward I can't see its data. I've tried upgrading my companion plugin to the latest version, but that made no change. Is anyone else having this problem, and has anyone found a solution? Thanks, and happy 2015, Allen

I just had a client ask why the file selection dialog for SC now looks like an older version of Mac OS (that doesn't have all of the usual options for navigation and such) after they upgraded to Yosemite. In my testing it appears this is only the case when SCChooseFile is used via the Companion Plugin, not when you click Choose File in the web viewer. Wondering if anyone can confirm that this is simply a Yosemite compatibility issue. And if so, will there be an update to fix this? Or has this always been the case and the client and I aren't remembering how this looked in previous versions of Mac OS X? Thanks

Hello, I just installed and tested the SuperContainer. I use FM Pro 12 server, and I've install with the "Mac installer". When I use the url "NameOfServer/SUperContainer" I've the correct answer. I am using "SCGetContainer()" with unstored calculation fields in hosted FMPro11 for portals. But as FMGo can't use SC companion plugin, FMGo can't show the portals. I think using stored calculation fields insted unstored fields solves this problem. Could you give me any suggestions?

Just bought a new laptop for my boss and it is running Yosemite (10.10.1). When we open FM13 (v4) and SC Companion Plugin (2.896) is installed, we get an error telling us we need Java SE 6 installed. If I remove the plugin, the message goes away. I would prefer not to have to jump through the hoops of installing or "reactivating" SE 6 if I don't have to. Just wondering if anyone has experience using $sc->download() in CWP/PHP. The documentation is sparse at best. I've been playing with this a bit, but haven't gotten it to work (trying to download an SC file to my local drive). I have the cURL library activated in PHP, so that should not be an issue. I think the main issue I have is trying to figure out what the proper syntax is for the destination. I tried what was in the example ('/tmp'), but got a permissions error. We store photos using SuperContainer and display the photos using a Container Field with a calculation that references the file. Since recently upgrading to FileMaker 13 (unsure if there is a connection), new photos uploaded display with poor quality -- grainy and with soft vertical stripes. The file itself is not affected -- when redownloaded it has the original good photo quality. And all all images that were previously uploaded display in high quality. Why might photos newly uploaded display with poor quality?

Just upgraded to FileMaker Server 12 Advanced. Installed SuperContainer 2.864. Have my SSL Certificate installed and verified. IWP is working fine. I can upload and download files using IWP. I can also access the SuperContainer via web browser, I can upload and download as well. But when I load the SCSetBaseURL on my script and check for an error, this is what I get. Where do we install (copy) the SuperContainer folder [which machine? master or worker?] and on which machine do we create the required IIS Rule for SuperContainer redirect?

I don't see anything in the documents about changing the URL when attempting to display an image file. I have a URL that works fine remotely.. http://remote:[email protected]:8020/SuperContainer/SingleFile/All Scans/1234-Registration.jpg?style=image_only+readonly but when the web viewer is viewed within the network I receive a message like "Unable to load preview for this item: No such folder path on SuperContainer......" So I am somewhat new to SuperContainer and to designing layouts in FileMaker. I have a database for a film I am working on and in the database is a record for every clip we have in the movie. We also have an image that matches the data for every clip that is in the movie. What I would like to do is be able to batch import all of the photos (using the batch import option in the Super Container Sample) and link all of the files from that batch import to the web viewers I have setup in my film database. I have done a manual installation of SC 2.896 on FMServer v13 as indicated by the documentation. Windows Server 2008 R2, SP1 SC runs well when checked in the browser, uploads and delete from our solution in FMP13 work OK, but the downloads are not happening. I do not see anything in the logs either. This works well on many servers we have installed this, but this combination is new (FMS13 and WindowsServer 2008). Is there anything that may block the download step on the client side?

Hi, I have installed the latest version of SC on a Mac Mini with FMS11. All works fine, and I have registered the software via the web portal which also works fine. However upon a reboot the registration is lost and requires entering again. I have followed the known faults page about deleting the registration file - but that file does not exist to be deleted! OK, I'm trying to get SuperContainer plugin functions to run as part of a server script triggered by CWP and the server is not recognizing the plugin. If I run the script using PSOS or a scheduled server side script, everything's kosher. I get an SCVersion of 2.89 and SCSetBaseURL completes successfully. But if I call that same script via PHP from CWP, I get ? ? ? all around. I'm using e-mail to report the errors. What could be the cause? This is FMS 13 v1 on OS X 10.8.4. Thanks, David

Supercontainer was working perfectly on FMS 13 on windows 2012. I had followed the manual install in IIS Manager - URL Rewrite. I updated my filemaker 13 server to the new version, restarted the server and now I can't get supercontainer on the server to start. I have restarted IIS and it hasn't helped. Please assist.

I'm trying to set up a server-side script that sends an e-mail with an attachment stored on the same machine using SuperContainer. I know the folder path from starting at the SuperContainer folder, but how do I get from a FileMaker-recognized "start" ( DesktopPath or DocumentsPath or something more general) to the SuperContainer folder? What's the best way to reference a SuperContainer filepath from the server itself?

Upgrading a client from FM11 to FM13. When we setup the new server, we copied over the original high res images, but not the thumbnails. As expected, SuperContainer is generating the needed thumbnails, however they are low quality and have vertical lines through the images (see attached). FMP13 SuperContainer Plugin 2.896 When trying to open a PDF file from a Web Viewer or OpenURL, instead of opening in a web browser the file attempts to open in Adobe Acrobat Reader and there is an error "There was an error opening this document. Greetings I run into 'beachball mode' when using Java supported software such as 360Works SuperContainer or MirrorSync. Strange: on same MackBook, using a different Mac OS user account on the same machine, it does not replicate this Java bug or error (so I can work happily on other accounts...) I have a client that had their FM11 server crash - not sure which version of SC it had on it, but my guess it hadn't been upgraded in a couple of years. They built a new FM12 server and upgraded to the latest version of SC, and updated all of the SC plugins on the users computers as well, latest java, etc. The new server has the same name and IP as the old server. Uploading documents works fine, the issue is that documents uploaded prior to the crash will not open. The SC path in an old document record and a new one look identical until they get to the dynamic folder structure, but the base paths are the same. Something we've noticed. Upload a JPG Image to Super Container SC stores and delivers as JPG with RawData URL When specifying width and height dimensions it then renames the file to "file_jpg.png" and is a png Is there anyway to keep the original file format? This seems to be new behavior. We just recently upgraded to SC 2.896. I can reproduce this in the chrome browser so it's not a FileMaker issue.

Hello, Our company has been using supercontainer for good over a year now without any problem. As of late we keep getting data/photos disappear. Normally as soon as they click upload in supercontainer the file is uploaded to the server at the requested location and that file will remain there till deleted. This is confirmed because they can see the photo in the supercontainer. They log off, and the next day this data is gone, this varies from person to person and from day to day. Some data stays and some disappears. Has anyone encountered this error/bug before? Greetings, Frederik

I successfully deployed SuperContainer (SC) via the Web Publishing Engine (WPE) of FileMaker Server 11 for years, on a Mac mini (2010) running OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), with no problems. Getting really weird results from copying file from SuperContainer to local user where the file becomes renamed as "filename=ThisFile.pdf", but I'm not specifying a filename at all. When I try to force the function to use the "filename" key=value pair, it does nothing. Can anyone else recreate this? Works fine on earlier versions of FileMaker and OSX.

I found some time ago that when viewing a web object on a local network vs remotely the url had to be different such as this. NOT REAL NUMBERS.... Local = "h ttp://192.168.1.25:8020/SuperContainer............." Remote = "h ttp://122.432.1.84:8020/SuperContainer........." So after determining if the client was on the local network or accessing remotely the web viewer used a conditional if statement like If(Local=_true;use local url ; use remote url) ---- and this worked fine for displaying a web viewer object either being viewed locally or remotely. with apologies for my clear inability to get what is probably a trivial matter. I'm a total newbie with FM. When the user first searches for a set of records, the image appears centered in the viewer and is scaled to fit. However, once they start to scroll through the found set of records, the web viewer changes the display and shows scroll bars with the image at original size. Just ran into this yesterday, and initially thought it was either an out-of-date plug-in or that the SC Server was not working right, but it seems to be an unexpected behavior of the SC Webviewer when opened in FileMaker Pro 13. What happens is that the SC content does not appear in the web viewer on records where it is known to exist (images or files), and neither does the UI in the web viewer to "Choose File" or "Upload File". Hello, we use the plugin Version 2.89. The function scGetInfo ("path" ; "md5") will not return the md5 hash value. "width" and "height" is working.

We will be upgrading to FM Server 13 next week. I assume the installer will need to be run again once FM 12 is removed and FM 13S is installed. Has this been tested yet? Are there anythings to watch for? Currently using Java45 which is what FM 13S recommends so there seems to be no problem there. David

We've often used the function SCSetContainer (pushes data from a FileMaker container field to a SuperContainer file); how do you do the opposite: push data from a SuperContainer file into a FileMaker container field?

I have an inherited solution where I am working with a View Document script.  The script uses Open URL with the following URL:  file:///var/folders/bh/5s1s45p92r3c0gjjhmtzdzgr0000gn/T/supercontainer_downloads_darrenburgess/PDoc/8142/filename=%22test.jpg%22  This URL is generated by the SCDownload function in a previous step and does not return ERROR.  The URL does appear to be a valid path on the local machine, and there is file named 'filename="Test.jpg" ' in that location and this file appears to be a valid JPG file, although it lacks an extension.  See attached screen shot of the script steps in question.  Please advise regarding how to resolv…

Is there a way to prevent Supercontainer from creating thumbnails? The thumbnails created have a horrible blue cast with streaks down the page. I would rather wait for the original.  This is part of a document where a preview of 305x543 has been created.   Â

We have users in remote locations and when we encounter problems with SuperContainer it is sometimes because their Java version is not up to date, even when they think it is up to date. Like Filemaker can tell if a user is on a Mac or PC, what Filemaker version they are using... is there a way Filemaker can tell what Java version a user is running?

I have a client on a Mac which is throwing up an error: Â java. lang.illegalArgumentException as per the attached. Â He was running on 10.6 with an old Java version and we updated the machine thinking this might be the issue. So the machine now has all the latest Java, Mac OS updates and the latest SuperContainer plugin. Â The issue arrises when uploading a file and the plugin calls the SCSetContainer function. Â The script is setting the base URL at the start of the script. Â Any help appreciated.

I've purchased the FM server edition but to test just want to run it on my system which has FM Pro (11). I've extracted the zip to a folder of mine, tried to run the SuperContainerServer.jar but it says "Logging directory is not writable, please verify that the Files folder is in a folder SuperContainer can write to." Doesn't matter if I'm logged on as an admin.

Is it compatible? Ever since I upgraded, I'm getting the 404 Not Found error when I try to access it. None of the Companion Plug-Ins can find it. I'm running it with FMS 12.0.405. Java is up-to-date, version 45. I uninstalled SuperContainer and "successfully" reinstalled it. Web Services were off at the time of uninstall and reinstall. Stopped all and restarted the computer. None of this helped. I'm a bit baffled, so the only thing I can think of is that I upgraded the OS. It has been working fine for months before that. Thank you! Ed

If I drop a new file into a SuperContainer field the old preview image is displayed. I have tried deleting the file first using the delete button in the SuperContainer field but once I drop the new file into the field the old image shows up again. Any ideas?

Is there any way to control the size of the applet buttons for SuperContainer? I want to have my users upload photos from their phones on GO, but the touch targets of the buttons are very small. Is there a solution to this? Jesse

Is there a way to read the drive setting in web.xml in order to trap for errors when the web.xml file is overwritten during an SC update process? Or, preferrably, is there a way to prevent this file from being replaced with the default web.xml during updates? TIA, Peter

I had to replace a PC running windows 7 and Filemaker Server 12 Advanced. The new dell would not install a 32 bit version of Windows 7 without huge driver problems. Re-install of all software went find after installing Windows 7. Once I installed Java(32bit) and tried to view a set of images remotely a problem occurred where I set the base URL. The routine returned an error saying it could not locate the proper location. I removed the 32 bit version of Java and installed the 64bit version and the problem was solved. Now I attempt to run Filemaker Pro on that server and I get an immediate error from Filemaker saying that at least Java 1.5 needs to be installed before…

Hi - Do any of the SuperContainer Companion functions work with FMGO? I'm not having much luck doing with FMGO what works fine with FileMaker 11... I have set up super container on a server and the images are uploading nicely if I use the upload button, (They dont upload if I drop them. they appear in another tab) The problem I am having is when I go to look at the record in FMP12 the images do not appear in the super container. The upload buttons disappear but there is not image. The next problem I am having is I cant get the SCSetContainer command to work. I want to move the image from the super container in one table into a normal container in another table. And help would be nice. Sandy

I see that there is no support for uploads via supercontainer in filemaker go. Missing this feature sadly, I would like to know why it is not possible? Is it a bug in Supercontainer? Hello, Â We use alot of pictures for debriefing our actions to other partners. Our users upload these pictures each day. Since we give the option to put alot of pictures in the same record we have had to narrow down the size of the container to about 120-120. In IE this does not give an issue since you can define which buttons to show, but in Chrome he ignores that option. Â I've added a picture to show the issue we have with it. the scenario: Several Drivers go out and photograph properties. At end of day drivers upload photos to Dropbox in folders named to the property ID (ie. 1234567). Drivers uses various photo methods... cameras, phones of iPhone, Android, etc. Management takes photo folders from Dropbox, processes the folders manually with a compression program, puts them in a folder of known path. (ie. Desktop/Photos/) Script is run to import folder of images in FM 12. Script then passes the photos to SC and deletes the photos from FM, keeping the thumbnails for use in portals in iOS where SC Companion can not aid in showing images in container fields. We've got a client using IWP for a client area on their system - this is deployed using HTTPS. Unfortunately this has caused problems downloading files from container fields with IE (as normal, all* other browsers work properly). I have SSL certificate working for the IWP but when Im using the supercontainer with IWP the supercontainer is not HTTPS and therefore the page is not secure anymore. Hello all. I have a client using SC to upload files through IWP and they repeatedly keep telling me that .docx files will not upload or download correctly. I've tested it myself and been successful but none of their computers (Windows or Mac) are able to do it. Client reports being able to connect ok, but after uploading the icon does not appear correctly as with other file types. Has anyone else run into issues using .docx files with SC in IWP? We have a remote user on a PC, using Filemaker 12, updated with SuperContainer Plugin 2.89, server is updated to 2.89, and both her machine and the server have the latest version of Java. When the user attempts to upload a file to SuperContainer, it seems to upload and process, and then she can't see it -- it goes back to having the buttons "Browse" and "Upload". Other users can see it immediately after she uploads it but she can't. When she restarts FileMaker, she can see the file. What do you think is happening? How can we fix this?

I have successfully implemented SuperContainer on a few projects. I am now working on one where I'll actually use iterations. In doing so, I created little Image Nav buttons under the web viewer, to browse through the existing images. So if there are three images, it says, "Image 1 of 4". As such, I need to manage the "iterations" when a file gets deleted. Say I am on Image 2 of 4. When the user clicks delete, it deletes the image, and I am left with iterations 1, 3, and 4. Following a recent update to the current sc plugin, all of our images with foreign characters in the filename now fail. We get an empty rectangle where the image should be. The images are still in the Files and Thumbnails. If I source the original File in supercontainer and reupload it - then it works fine. Is there a reason for this behaviour? Now I have to find 1000's of broken images and reupload them...

Is there any way to make a PDF expand to occupy the entire container window? (I did try to adjust the size, as directed in the documentation, but it appeared to make no difference). It always seems to retain proportional size (the PDF), and maintain rather wide margins on the side. Thanks.

Yesterday I was developing some new layouts for IWP and while testing them on our website I got the message from Java to get the newest version. So I did. Afterwards I could not run anything anymore. So I uninstalled everything from Java, and installed Jave version 7 update 25 which is installed on all the other pc's here at the office. This version never gave us any problems. Since updating the SuperContainer plugin on our server, when some users (who have Chrome set as their machine's preferred Browser, one on PC, Windows 7, one on PC, Windows 8), attempt to open SuperContainer documents, such as PDFS, Filemaker or SuperContainer seems to attempt to open them via Internet Explorer, which is not their preferred browser. I have a database with a SC webviewer where photos can be dragged and dropped. I have related tables that display the document in a container field by pointing to the documents folder. On my desktop, it all works fine, but I need to publish it to a Filemaker Hosting Server (Pointinspace). I created a Preferences table (related via Cartesian relationship) where I can easily change the server path and the path to my documents folder so that the webviewer and container fields are finding the proper folders.
