macOS Catalina. 1. Make a new file and save it to the desktop 2. While the file is open, move it to the trash 3. empty the trash The trash is emptied without any error. Weird. This does not seem right, in fact it seems VERY wrong. Can anybody reproduce?

Hi guys, I'm trying to dynamically change a text field from one that autofills using a calculation to a dropdown list depending on the value of another field. If the other field = "yes" then the original field should be autofilled, if the other field = "no" then the original field should become a drop-down list. What would be the best way to do this? Hi guys, Im trying to autofill a field depending on the value of other fields -- Ideally this field would be autofilled with some text immediately followed by a numeric value that increases by 1 for each new record. I currently have this: If ( Case1 = "A" ; (Case(Type = "Protein" ; "test1xxx"; Type = "Antibody"; "test2xxx"; Type = "DNA"; "test3xxx"))) I would like to replace the "xxx" components with "000" through "999". Using FM Pro 16 on a Mac with Mojave. I have an existing invoice form for my business I set up many, many years ago and would like the names describing the check number field, check date field and check amount fields to print out on hard copies of the invoices after I've filled in those fields and marked them paid. I've dug through the layout in layout form and can't seem to find where I can mark those field names/labels to print when I print out a copy. The check number, check date and check amount do print out. I've attached a screenshot of my invoice in layout form. Thanks much in advance for any help.

I have a layout calculation that looks like: Round(If($$NoGPABump = 1;Classes::GPANoBump; Classes::GPABumped);2) In most instances, this rounds the appropriate value to 2 decimals and displays those two digits. But on occasion, it displays only one decimal as in this one: . Instead I want to see 4.20. If I round to, say, 4 decimals, it works properly: . Rounding to 3 digits gives 4.199. How do I get the trailing zero to show up? This seems to be consistent for all data that rounds to a last digit of zero. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround? Thanks,

I have a FileMaker solution that powers an internal "TV network". It runs over Intel Compute Sticks which have FileMaker installed on them and are connected to TVs mounted to the wall throughout the facility. A FileMaker script runs through various layouts and steps thru records on each layout. This lets us show a calendar, weather report (in a web viewer), company news, birthdays, customer feedback, employee recognition, and pictures. I have been going through the web to look for examples and I have not been successful. Even when looking in Lynda.com. Over the years, I have been using plist files and now wants to change to xml. I am looking for example on how to export and import data in xml format with filmakers pro . Does anyone have an idea where I could find some information? I'm not sure how to explain this properly but I will try. I have 2 tables, one main customer table and a phone log table with over 700,000 records. They are related with a customer number field. on my main customer table, I currently show the last phone log entry, date and user initials with a field in the main customer table called (last phone log name) (last phone log date) (last phone log initials) using the last function. I have been working as the developer/designer for our FMPro databases for many years now for a real estate company/rental agency, and this is the first time I have seen this happen. There is a record (a rental home) that is able to be "found," but once found, does not display any data. None. The fields are blank. You cannot tab into individual fields, but perform a find for their data, and the blank record mysteriously displays. Hi, We have a text field in our database that usually has punctuation characters "," ":" "-" "." and so on. The issue is that sometimes de search in that fiels does not work as expected. To improve the search in some cases when a user try to search in that field we transform the sentence changing the punctuation characters to " ", but sometimes it is not enough, so we have tried to do the same changing the puntuaction character to *, but the result is not good. For example if the field contain AGENTE X-17, OPERACION OCEANO and we search AGENTE X*17* OPERACION OCEANO we find nothing. Any idea why it is not working properly? Thanks.

I have a layout with a number of button bars, all with the same style. Each button is set to have an inner shadow and a white fill on Hover. For any of the buttons that call a popover, after the popover is closed, the hover shadow no longer works, but the fill still changes to white. I've tried adding a refresh object script trigger when closing the popover, but that doesn't work. Some of the buttons are currently placeholders, which just call a script that exits itself so I can test the hover state. Those work fine.

Is this at all possible? I want to have two buttons that will each do the following. Have one button to ‘Strike Thru’ text that is highlighted before. Means not all the text in the field will be changed. And one button to change the text colour to Red, again highlighted before. Means not all the text in the field will be changed. I have headers for my layouts that consist of multiple buttons and objects. Oftentimes, it is the same header for many different layouts. But if I make a change to the header in one layout, I then have to go to EACH layout with the same header and duplicate the change (or copy and paste from the first layout). Is there any way to create an object that I can add to multiple layouts, such that if I make a change to the object on any of the layouts, it will reflect that change on ALL of the layouts that contain that object?

I want to have a calculation which produces the results of a test, in effect there are 4 tests being conducted at once, which would be as follows: Number > Limit + Test said "Go" = Correct Number > Limit + Test said "Don't Go" = Wrong Number < Limit + Test said "Go" = Wrong Number < Limit + Test said "Don't go" = Correct Not being very good at Filemaker, I don't know how to do this - so what would be the best way? Good Morning, I have a database with the master table having a field called customer number. Typically a 4 digit field. Each year the customer is with us, his file is duplicated and the new file increments with a second field called renewal number. Example the first year he is a 0 in the renewal field, the second year file he is a 1, etc. This master table has 50,000+ records in it, with some customers having been with us for over 30 years. I've done a "Perform find" where one record out out of 4 has been selected. However, the line 49 " set field (Invoice Data::PRODUIT ID MATCH FIELD ; $__pkCryptedNameFileID)" command does not update the content of the field . Why ? I'm trying to write a script to generate invoices for a group of players by team, save to PDF and eventually email the PDF out. Problem is when I select a particular team, each saved pdf has multiple players' invoices instead of the just one filename = one player. Strange part is the saved pdf for each is different i.e. one file might have 8 different pages (8 different players) while another might have 10. Aggravating behavior. I've got some send event commands that still work with FM18 under Mojave, but do not work under Catalina. Pretty simple commands - one is to simply open up a directory and the other is to launch an MP3 file using whatever the default media player is (I've tried leaving it a the new "Music" app and as Quicktime player. These files play fine when launched on their own but I can no longer launch them using the send event command. My daughter accesses my server here with a desktop client. Both server and client are version 18 all up to date. Last night her husband was having issues and did a permissions reset on OSX. Now it appears the client cant even see the internet. It can't find the server here. I tried deleting the host on her end to re-ad it and it can't even see the server to add. There are other clients and phones having no issues. We made sure the permissions in Get Info was correct and they are. Anyone else run into this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone I am a new filemaker programmer (that's a stretch!). I just learned how to link three tables (Assignments/Rubrics/Levels). I created a drop down menu from a portal (based on levels). It shows two things (level and descriptor) in the portal. Yeah I am trying to get to print the level and the descriptor on a report. What level did a student get? What did the level descriptor say? I've got very little experience in working with "go to related records". I've managed to get to print Customer and Merchant invoice. I'm having difficulties in printing QR-Code Coupon. When comes the time to print the coupon there are 3 records in the "Data Invoice" table. I am trying to print each of those three records as individual coupon. The expectation for this request is to produce 1 Customer invoice, 1 Merchant invoice and 3 QR-Code coupons. At the moment, I only getting 1 Customer invoice, 1 Merchant invoice and 1 QR-Code coupon. Hi All, I added security to limit the DataAPI user from accessing certain records, with the limited option. I tested this while running these files on my HD no server. Worked like a charm. After moving the files to FMServer the DataAPI account can access all record in the table all of a sudden. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? Kind regards, Joost

I am about to upgrade from FileMaker Pro 12 to FileMaker Pro 16. The readings seems to suggest to have High Sierra as the OS. I currently have Maverick and need to upgrade the OS for FMP 16 to be installed. I was going to upgrade to Mojave but believe I would be better with High Sierra. Is anybody else seeing an issue with exporting to .xlsx in FMP 18? I have a scripted find/export that has never been a problem before. But, ever since I updated to FMP 18 I sometimes get errors with the Excel spreadsheet that is created. As you can see in the attached, if I make my changes and hit save it says I have to Save a Copy (if I use the same name it saves over the top of the open file just fine) because the original spreadsheet was an "older version of Excel". I have a date field that is set by record created date, whenever I create a new record in this table it enters the current date. This is a phone log field so there are literally hundreds of thousands of records. I'm trying to create a calculation that displays the today, if the record created date is current date, and yesterday if it was yesterday and all other should be the date itself but when I create this calculation, it doesn't seem to update on a daily basis and just shows today even if the date was yesterday, unless I create a new record. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here?

For about 12 years, we've had a FileMaker database import external data from a .mdb (Access) database that has data that is downloaded from some equipment. The process has survived several computer upgrades (Windows XP and Windows 7) and FileMaker version upgrades (created in 7 and currently running in 16). It broke when we moved into the Windows 10 environment. The script is set up to retrieve the data from the .mdb file and it says it can't access the file. I need to be able to execute VLC within FileMaker Pro. The clip to be displayed is to start and to end at a certain time. I have been able to do it using the following under MAC Terminal. I need to generate QR code within FileMaker Pro. I’ve been looking on the internet but I am not sure on what to do. QR code are to be generated in the background. Customers would make their order and part of their receipts a QR code would be printed. By pointing to their QR code with their intelligent phone some triggers would be activated. Hello I find in an old drives some fmp5 files. To open them in FMP18 I need to convert them first to FMP7. I have an old version of FMP7 however each time I install it the app crashes telling me the installer was modified with another version and crashes. For some reason the perform find function always return the execution as the "record existing". The first execution, there is a record which is different than the one being found. The expected response was "missing record" I've left the new created record in the table for the next attempt. The expected response was "existing record". This is what I've got as a response but do not trust it because I am getting that answer eve of there are no duplicates. Hello, I wrote an applescript program to gather the creation date of a specific file. The result is to be returned to the same table the parameter came from. Hello, This might be a very basic question. However, I've seen this for a long time and never been able to figure it out. When doing a "Go to Layout" the table quickly show even with Animation equal to "none". Is there a way to prevent this? To pause the situation I've added a show custom dialog. As you can see behind the dialog box, the table content is being showed. This goes very quickly and makes the behaviour not to be great. With regards!

Hello, This program works with other script but for this one I am getting errors. I am trying to get the value of a field "EventNo" from the called Preference Table. The next step will be to copy the value into a plist file. First image is the Perform script calling the applescript along with the layout of the table being called. The next picture is the applescript program along with the errors I am getting. Would someone have an idea why I am having those errors. With regards! Thanks!

Hello Guys I am new to FileMaker 17 Server recently updated. Took really a long time to update to version 17 because of organizational BS. I understand stand with new Admin console GUI doesn't' allow for the progressive backup intervals to be changed. After several FileMaker support searches I found an article that states it has to be done via the command line interface. Does anyone know how to change the progressive Backup with the command line. Please show an example for window platform

Dear All, I am trying to put a conditional formatting validation which turns Red when the value is entered wrong. Basically all my tries have failed so I would like your help here. The criteria of entering a value is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 1111-2222-3333-4444 1. Length of value is = 19 OR this should be a 16 digit number, in groups of 4 separated with dashes 2. We want to upload our server to filemaker server 16 but we have some doubts about how WebDirect manage the urls. We want two machines deployment, the worker in dmz, the master behind the firewall (same as we have in filemaker 14). I have read in the documentation that I can use the url of the worker or the master to point to our solution, but I don´t know if the url is going to change from one machine to another and if it is necessary to have both fqdn in a public dns or just with one of them as happens in FM14 is enough. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am using Filemaker Pro 17. I have created a container field with 'interactive content (PDF, MP3, etc.)' checked in the Data tab in the Inspector. PDF's won't upload. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader DC. I've tried other PDF files and they just won't load. What am I doing wrong? (I've done is successfully in the past with Filemaker 15 with the exact same PDF files). I'm using a MacBook Pro with MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.2 (18C54).

I have container fields in my DB which store MS Word files. These files act as templates which are modified and saved to a new file by 360Works Scribe One of these containers is misbehaving. I have 2 files, call them A and B. Depending on the context, either A or B is loaded into a global container field called gContainer2 Whatever I do, this field always contains file A, even though it says it contains file B. I have been using FM17Adv for some time. I am on a MacPro 12-core tower and I had been running macOS Sierra. All the internal scripts I had in one database worked perfectly. I recently updated to High Sierra and now I am getting script errors I don't understand. And this is from the same exact file I used previously. I have one script where I want it to open a folder in Dropbox so I can access files there. But I am getting this error: Can’t make "Dropbox" into type integer. Hi All Apparently FMI knows about this, and their advice is as follows The problem for me is I don't have an SSL certificate and am using the in-built FM certificate. I would have thought the in-built certificate would at least let me import from the hosted file, especially as I did this from the desktop of the server. The script doing the import has not changed for many years and still runs fine on pre-18 servers. Other than purchasing an SSL has anyone get a solution, without resorting to downloading the hosted files and running locally (I'm trying to avoid that step). Thanks

I am using a 2015 MacBook Air running Mojave 10.4.5 and a HP LaserJet 1102w. When I try to print from FileMaker Pro 10 the program will crash after the third print. If I try to save the record as a PDF first it will crash immediately. I have to go into two to five layouts to print an entire service order. The Genius at the Apple Store was unaware that FileMaker is an Apple product, told me to reset the printing system and try again. This made no difference. I went back and they said to call FileMaker but FileMaker no longer supports FileMaker 10. So I bought another printer, a Xerox 3260 laser printer which does exactly the same thing. Hi, I have some FMP development experience but more so on the intermediate level. We have a FMP database, hosted on a FMP server, that we use to track a bunch of our digital signs. All the data in the db is manually entered with fields such as 'name' and 'ip_address'. Sometimes these signs go offline, hangup, change ip addresses, etc. I had the idea to have the remote signs call a url every hour that is our signage db hosted on our FMP server. I'm trying to use a script to Insert File from a specific AFP share into a container field. Every time I try, I get a 100 error (File is missing) from Filemaker. If i change the path to a local file, it works fine. I've tried hard-coding the path; using a variable; using a global field as a reference. I've also tried all the permutations of the path according to filemaker's requirements... filemac:/<path to file>, file:/<path to file>, using /Volumes, /ip address of the share, etc. For example: "filemac:/Volumes/Folder one/Folder two/filename.pdf", etc. No matter what I try, I get the 100 error.

I am putting together a database of All departments in a hospital and our technicians responsible for them. I also need to have 2 backup techs. The database for the techs will be them same techs as the backups. Right now I created tables, fields & relationships for each individual techs and backup techs and that seems like not a very good idea since it is all the same. I need suggestions of how I can pull this of easily especially for doing tech and backup tech updates. I have attached relationship screen and the database file. FileMaker Pro 16.0.6.600 On a Mac I am having a container field where I store PDF files. Every time I start the DB and I get to a file in the DB with a PDF in it, I get a box asking me: adobe pdf viewer can not find a compatible… etc. Now if I select Adobe Acrobat Reader DC it now runs fine, however it will ask me again the next time I open the DB. Boring indeed. Any solution to that? My first choice would be to use Preview, I did select it when the box appeared but this does not work. Any solutions to that? I don't really know what I'm missing here. I have two windows next to each other. I want to activate a Script Trigger on Record Load (I have tried On Layout Enter as well) , and it does that fine as long as I'm only having one window open. But not when I'm switching between the windows. Ie, I want the script to run when I enter the Window. Isn't this supposed to work?

I have data in 2 tables ( let's say Table A and Table B ) that are linked. In the table view of Table B, I added a field (let's say TA-field 1) with a number format from Table A . My problem is that I cannot adjust the number of decimals of the TA-field 1 in the table view of Table B. Even if the TA-field 1 has 2 decimals (in Table A), in the table view of Table B, it has 0 decimals. How could I fix the number of decimals of TA-field 1 in the table view of Table B ?

I am putting together a database of our employees and the areas in the hospital they are responsible for. In this I am including these fields 1. Department 2. Technician 3. Backup Technician 4. Extension 5. Pager 6. Cell Phone Number There is going to be many departments per tech but only the same ext, pager & cell phone# each of them. Should this be just a flat file database or should it be setup with relationships of each techs departments to them? I am not sure how to relate each technician to multiple departments.

Hi, I have a page layout containing 5 images stored in container fields with "Crop to frame" If I send this page as PDF the photos appear blurry. If I insert the same pictures directly in the layout, as objects, they look perfectly sharp. Any idea why? Thanks
