I published my filemaker database to the web, however I get the error when trying to access it "layout must be in classic format" How do I write a script that changes my database to a classic layout i've created when logging in from the web? I also have ipad/iphone versions and they switch to those layouts on entry. Thanks Matt

Here's my shared fm db scenario. I am running an iwp set up with filemaker pro on a windows server, serving up to 5 users concurrently via the browser environment. I've also got a local copy of fm, which I plan to use to modify the db that is hosted on the company network. Nothing saved locally that is. Will I run into trouble with this set up? Does fm realise it's opening a shared db and if not, how do I notify it?

Hello, We've been using IWP for over a year now, we use it for daily reporting and inscriptions etc.. We've always insisted on people using internet explorer as their web browser because everything works (99% of the time) without issues. Now with the latest developments and such, alot of our users use Google Chrome to access and update their data. The one and serious problem we encounter with all these users is that they cannot access certain fields or cannot even use scripts which work perfectly fine while using IE. FMPA 12 (not Server). I enabled IWP and it worked fine on our internal network. Went ahead and did port forwarding and we couldn't establish a connection from the outside, even changed ports to no avail. Then I decided to try connecting the computer that was sharing files via IWP directly to our modem, so that there was no routers and no port forwarding involved (the ip showing in the Mac network settings was the same we got from online pages that show your ip) and we still couldn't connect. Any ideas?

I have just replaced my Apple Airport Extreme router for a new one with exactly the same configuration, however all of a sudden IWP will only work for one session and then all attempts to access it give a "database unavailable" error. The only way I can remedy this for the moment is to turn IWP off and then back on again. I have made absolutely no changes to my Server configuration to provoke this and it has been working perfectly since I installed FMSA 12. Any ideas what may be wrong and what needs to be done?

I am using FMStudio for FileMaker 12 with Dreamweaver CS6. I am getting the error FileMaker Error: 18 Client must provide account information. I have logged in using my FMServer admin credentials, my FileMaker files user credentials and still get this error. Any ideas out there? Thanks.

Some fields on a layout in iwp will not save the information, other fields work. They are all enabled to be editable in browse mode. I have a button with a commit record/request script step tied to it. Permissions schema is to allow view and modify on all tables, view layout is enabled for the layout I am working with and modify records is enabled for the layout I am working with. All fields let me type data into them or modify the data in them but when I hit the commit records/request button I created some of them do not update. I have a simple form I've created to implement in IWP. None of the radio buttons work. Nor do the pull-dow menus. I've searched here and found complex discussions of value-list tricks etc. I apologize if this has been covered already. I am sure the value lists are correct and everything works fine from the FMP Adv client. I am using FMp Adv 11 on a mac G5 running 10.5.8. No browsers present the buttons or menus correctly. I have a project that I am working on which requires online students to capture a short video interview, several photos, and text-based content. There will be hundreds of students working on this ongoing project and I am wondering what the capacity of FMP v12 is when being used as a web-server -- or how to calculate acceptable load? Hello, At the moment I use a simple database and made it possible via IWP to publish it on the web. All seems to work fine. Well almost. When i see the records in list view I can not scroll through all the items. I only see 24 records, but when I want to scroll up or down to see the rest, it is not possible. Is there a way to get the scrolling to work? Or am I dong something wrong? For the info, I use FM11 for this. Cheers Koen

Anyone, I have setup a FMP 12 advance server on windows using IIS7. Currently been using CWP, along with FM-Go 12 and several clients local and VPN. No problems with any connections using these technologies. I can access our DBs from the Internet with CWP and GO with no problems and our clients with VPN. Now we are wanting to use IWP with this. Everything shows up great on the server as turned on. We put in the url of the domain we get nothing from the web. When we put in the direct IP of the server it works from inside our network. We have turned off all the firewalls thinking it was possibly that. Still no go with IWP, yet CWP, GO and VPN still work! This h…

Hi, I'm trying to install in a drupal site the connection with Filemaker. I am developing the drupal site in my machine using MAMPRO as a web server and I have my database file hosted in a shared Filemaker server. After installing in Drupal, the Filemaker modules, and the FX folder with FX.php in the libraries folder, whenever I try to use the filemaker module I get the following notice "Can not find FX.php. Please place FX.php at sites/all/libraries/fxphp/FX." I'm sure that I've installed in that location the FX folder. So I am lost. I'd appreciate any help, thks. Armando

This one has been troubling me for some time now, probably something simple...  I have a layout with a portal that is access via Instant Web Publishing on FileMaker 12. It has three butons; 1. Save & Exit - Which commits records and exits application. 2. Save & New - Which commits records and creates new record 3. OT - Which commits records and goes to another layout  Buttons 1 and 2 work, but not button 3. On pressing button 3 it just commits records and remains on the same layout. This past week I've been checking (searching) out how to create a custom Login page. I can't find anything specific too what I'd like to do. Can I make a custom page like this (see link)? http://www.pdawax.com/TrashMe/WattLogin.html I don't want to use the generic small little box that FM pushes when you submit a "findall" string/command to enter into a protect html page. I have a situation where people in the field will be editing a record using IWP while people in the office will need to do real time editing of the same record using Filemaker Pro. So far I havent found a way to do it

I've set up a database to be used via IWP. I have a log in script to send users to the correct layout depending upon their log in ID. They activate it by clicking on a button that runs a script called "Find Mine". This script is set up to ignore the accidental "Enter" key activation and when directly in FM it works great, BUT in IWP this script does not work, it just moves the curser down one line...? Anybody have a way around the "Enter" key issue?

Hi guys, do you know an easy solution when you have 2 or more same fields in layout and you want to search for something? In filemaker after any of multiple field is filled by user other fields changes accordinly but in IWP others stays blank what causes conflict. Is there anything special needed to delete a portal row via IWP? Putting a button in the portal row with the delete portal row script step works via the client but not in IWP. I also tried capturing the portal row index number and telling the portal to delete a specific row number. Both work in the FMP client but not IWP. Any Ideas? Thanks, Greg.

I have a PHP web published site using a FMStudioPro built site and I am getting errors whenever I try to make its user have custom privileges limited to a field (called "On Web") that is a boolean. I have tried On Web = 1 and On Web = "1" and On Web > 0 All I get is that every page on the site jumps to the error page - 404 No records match request I am trying to limit the web results to just records that have the checkbox "On Web" checked. If I remove Custom Privileges, the site works fine, but of course returns all the database's records. thank you! -- Don

Howdy everyone! would you use IWP to publish a database of 350.000 records to cca. 500 industrial clients? We do not expect more than, at most, 100 users connected at one time. All the dedicated solutions (OpenCart, Presto etc...) seem to follow different logic (ie. one catalog file, limited b2b and custom pricing options). Our database is largish (although only text) but the load shouldn't be too much so we could do a lot of the customization and integration with our in-house solution. Is it doable? Reliable? I have a mac server and desktop where I have installed 11.x.5 just to be able to use PHP Site Assistant. I cannot get the "generate" or "view" site to work on either machine (server 10.7.5 w/java 7 21) and on the desktop (10.8.3 / java 7 21). When I go through the process (I've done it many times before) and select generate site it opens a dialog box asking where I want to save the site (files). Regardless of the platform/machine/folder when I navigate to a location the dialog box will not permit me to designate that folder (or any folder anywhere) as the location into which to generate the site. I've got an IWP solution in which photos are shown in a container field. As long as the container field is fairly small, the image shows without issue across multiple browsers. I have the image to shrink or enlarge to fit the container. However, management has asked that I enlarge the size of the image within the layout. When I enlarge the container the image is cropped to about 1/4 of its height and shows the full width of the image. I've tried everything I can think of. ...various image formatting options, alignment options, container sizes, etc. No luck, The images are contained in the field vs a file reference. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have two (sometimes more) clients using IWP on a dedicated, shared FM 12 Advanced server running on Win 2008. I rewrote the imp_home.html, imp_auth.html, and the imp_home.css pages, and added websites to IIS, so that each client had a custom index.html home page with their logos and a link to their database. When they logged out, they were returned to their custom home page. This worked flawlessly in FileMaker 11. I cannot seem to make it work in FileMaker 12 except for the default domain, possibly due to some security changes in FM 12 - at least I have found similar code online that broke with FM 12. Is there any way to have a user commit a search in IWP if I have locked and hidden my status bar? I want to create a button that would allow them to put in some search criteria but when they submit the search it would include criteria I have added forcing them to only see data related to their company. Hi, Is there a way to get the information displayed in a webview to a field. When i using IWP. When using normal FMP then i can script this. And that works fine. But When i do this on the IWP then only the url of the webview is copied to the field. The webview on the IWP is displaying the right information. I want to use this to get the WAN IP of the person that logs in to the IWP. Is this possible. I Use FMP 12 Server Advanced.

I'm hoping someone can advise on this. I've recently converted a number of databases from 11 to 12, now hosted with FP Sever Advanced on a Win 2008 server. Several of the database are accessed via IWP and a couple via PHP. Users are now getting intermittent errors that were never encountered with FP11. For the IWP systems, they're getting 'database not available'. For the PHP ones they're getting 'error: 802 - unable to open file'. The occurrences appear to be random, and attempting to access again a few minutes later generally meets with success. Has anyone got an idea what the cause of this might be, and how to resolve it?

I updated Java a few weeks ago and IWP stopped working. I tried lots of things, Nothing worked. Then it started working agian for about a week then it just stopped agian recently. I have Win 7 x64 Filemaker pro 12.0v3 and have a IWP database for our employees to clock in and out throughout our plant. After I updated Java the databases will no longer publish and IWP won’t start. I tried deleting web.pref file and that didn’t help. I also uninstalled and reinstalled my product and still no help. Has anyone done any testing to see if IWP can be cloaked to hide the server url and have it appear as if its native to the company website etc. I am wondering if it will pop back out to the top ( it looks like it will with the little testing I've done) but is there a way to keep it masked? Charles

I can open them up online from the same laptop on which I set them up. However, I can't seem to open them up on any other computer. I'm hoping this is just a simple solution. I'm moving my FX solutions from FMS11 to FMS12 and there are a few problems along the way. I'm finding that passing the current record number into the parameter '-recid' does not result in a successful edit. I get an error 101. I have a data base that is working fine in IWP, but now I have hidden the status bar from the students. Is there a way to put a continue and a submit button on the page the students are working with. I have a script that takes the student to their own page after they enter their own individual ID code. But there is a place in the script where it pauses to allow the student to enter the code. The return key or tab key will not trigger the script to continue. I need to have a continue button on the screen. Hi folks. I upgraded my hosting computer recently to a new mac mini with Mountain Lion. Currently running 10.8.2. FM11SA and FM11A are also on the same computer but inactive. I then upgraded to FM12v3 ADV and since then I cannot get IWP running. FM network works fine, but no go on IWP. I get the "IWP cannot be started" error. Initially I thought that it was a conflict with IWP on the FM11server, but that would usually give the "another instance of FM" etc error and I checked activity monitor and IWP is not running nor is the server running in the background. Hello All, I have an IWP solution with buttons to open various pages on my website. All that I want to happen is when a client pushes the button (they would already be logged in to the client side IWP site) a new browser window pops and takes them to the URL. Simple right? Ajax updates a web page, without actually refreshing a page. I guess it would be more fair to say that Ajax can help you update a section of a web page, without refreshing/reloading the whole page. Hi there... I have a number of DB's that are saet up for IWP and served by FMP Server 12 advanced. A few of the DB's have IWP "turned on" only to access the data inside the DB. I would rather not have them listed on the IWP Home Start Up menu you get in the browser. Is there a way to keep a DB as "IWP" but now have it show up in the start up menu? There are three tables based on the student’s grade level (grade12, grade11, and grade10). Just upgraded from FMS Adv 11 to 12. This is happening once every day or two. Restart web publishing and it will run for another day or two before shutting down. The user is inputting data on a layout right before it happens, but most of the time, on the same layout, inputting the same data, iwp doesn't crash.

Hi there... I am using FMP Server 12 advanced. I have a number of DB's being served, and a sub set of them are turned on for "IWP". My problem is, I forgot how to "turn on" a DB for IWP - and I need to "turn on" another one. The only directions I can find in the documentation is to go into the DB under "Sharing->IWP", but: 1. None of the other DB's that are "turned on" for IWP have this setting set and... 2. When I try to turn it on, I get a message saying "FileMaker cannot share files over the Web because Instant Web Publishing could not be started." Hi, I've created a database and am about to give access to it to individuals within my company for viewing. I want them to be able to update the records within it but I don't want them to be able to delete any records. Is there a way to allow them to edit the database but not delete? We have using been Filemaker for years and started doing some more develpment in ASP.NET using ODBC drivers provided with Filemaker. Our Filemaker Server is version 11 and ODBC driver is 11.3.81.0. We are experiencing extreme slowness form the server and any kind of operation like browsing thru records using the client is also slow. When we restart the service fmxdbc_listener, it helps for a while and then intermittently starts to slow down again. I have a few questions: 1. I am trying to set up my database to be shared over IWP. My ISP has given me a static IP address. And I added the port I specified in FM to the ports on my router. However, I can only access the database through my network, and it doesn't even go via the port specified in FM. I specified port 591, but I just type in the address (without port #) as shown in FM and it connects to the home page. When I add the port #, it cannot find the site. Additionally, the address it gives me is a local one - 192.168.1.5, but my IP address is completely different to this. Please help!?

I have a database hosted on a PC on a network. Access via iwp is fine from a local machine (on the same network via a browser) - I can reach the 'Database homepage' where the database is listed, and then I can login successfully, but ... ... from a remote browser (outside the network) I can only reach the iwp homepage. The file still appears on the database list ok, but clicking to go to the login fails and just leaves me on the iwp homepage. Any thoughts much appreciated?

I have a couple of scripts that use Set Field. These scripts are run using a button in a portal. They both work fine in the application, but one doesn't work at all in the web browser while the other sometimes does something. Am I missing something? The scripts show complete compatability for iwp.

I want to host only only one database on iwp and would like to go - straight to the login (auth) screen on entry and ... - straight to my own website on exit. There are various posts here (many quite old) with suggestions on how to change the iwp_home.html file but I can make none of them work to do either of the above. Hey guys/gals, I have a solution that I'm serving up to about 10 IWP users currently (as well as a few client users via FMGo) In the next few months, the number will expand to 200-250 web users. Obviously a single FMSA12 license wouldn't handle this so I have a few questions. 1. Would it be practical to continue using IWP for this? How would I do that? Additional server licenses/installations? Would all of these additional servers be able to use/connect to the same database? 2. Would it be more practical to develop a new site for CWP? I know that you can not send email or save as .Pdf in IWP, but is there a way to trigger a server script that could export to an excel? I have a database that is used for schedules of events and we have deployed IWP so that users can access the schedule from other locations. They want to ability to not only view the schedule but to get it in excel or .pdf. I have had some of my clients (just a few out of thousands) experience strange behavior in IWP. The system takes them to an existing record instead of creating a new record in certain cases, but very infrequently. Has anyone hear of issues with IE7 and IWP?

I can't seem to get a horizontal line separating repeating fields, to show up using IWP. Works fine from FM client but not from web view. Any thoughts as to why? I've tried different thicknesses, colours, browsers and I am using the classic theme. Thanks

I have a list iwp and each time I select a record all the earlier ones disappear. I need to show all or scroll back the the earlier record to see it. Any workaround - seems an odd behaviour. I was going to run PHP assistant instead but it isn't present in v12.

I have a specific question about calculated fields shown in web viewer and the effect on IWP. As background, I am going as far as I can with a specific layout to make it look and behave as much as I can like my desired webpage presentation. I have a client with an php web site developed in fx.php in FileMaker 11. We switched them to FMS 12 on IIS 7 and Windows 2008 server. For some reason the web pulishing engine stops responding to new requests after a certain amount of time. We tried using both native PHP 5.3 and the FIleMaker supplied one, but the problem is still happening. The only solution so far has been to reset the web publishing engine. Any one else having this problem?

I'm just wondering if anyone has come across a problem with IWP (FM11/Win) and using existing records? I have a database hosted with automatic login as Guest (read/write) via a Browser. There are no tools available on screen, all is navigated via buttons. A user creates a new record with a button that simply creates a new record and takes the user to the data entry screen for them to fill out the details. My problem is that on a couple of occasions the online user is presented with someone else's record, not a new record. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how this can happen?

Hi, all. I'm trying a sample in v11 and used the assistant to generate a site. I have noticed that the "error.php" file has a function Authenticate() and the body of that function has the line include "authentication.php"; but this file is not found in the folder with the other php files. A reasonably lengthy Google search has not shown much in the way of useful information, but I did see a snippet in a pdf covering FMSA v9 that the file is generated by the assistant. What gives? It's been a while since I've had to play with IWP but I have drop downs and popups in the header area and I can't seem to get them to display any values. The IWP extended privleges is set for the user and I even tried it with a full access account. What am I missing here? And does anyone know if Triggers will work in IWP? Thanks in advance. Dom

Ok I'm sure this is a head banging issue. I launched the Filemaker Server Admin Console and the database I uploaded has IWP checked off BUT in the application itself under Sharing-->Instant Web Publishing the radio button is set to OFF. What am I missing here? I don't want IWP access to this database yet it shows under the Admin Console as having IWP access. Thoughts? Hi ! I have a web page (html) with a link to an IWP login page of FileMaker database. Everything works smoothly. But... When the client ends IWP session, the FMP default IWP page opens. So, is there any possibilities to redirect the IWP client back to the original web site after he closes the IWP ? I have a simple FM11 database of inventory. I have set the Privilege Set's (File>Security>Privilege Set) Custom Records Privileges "View" "Limited" to the calculation "On Web = 1" (without quotes) - where "On Web" is the checkbox field that has the boolean of 1 or 0. So, if the record has "On Web" checked, the record shows up on the website. All this is working fine, as long as the person enters a variable in the find, but if they just click "Find Records", all the records in the database show up. The systems are all served by FM Server Advanced (9 to 11), on both Windows and Mac servers. There can be anywhere from a few to 20+ simultaneous users during end-of-term peak use.
