I have an active database file on my desktop to which I add records every week. I maintain an identical database on an external hard drive which I maintain as a cumulative backup of all records. I want to periodically move recently added records from my active database to the archived database, which I keep offsite for protection (except when I am transferring records). They use the filmmaker 10 (32bits) and Office 365 (64bits) on windows 10 (64bits). The filemaker 10 never had problems opening the "new email" window in Outlook. In the attached sample, there are two tables: a Project table ("AD") for project name and booked $ amount and a related table ("Rcvbls") which can have multiple invoices per project as shown below: I want a report that shows projects by status and has summary amounts for the Rcvbls data as shown below: As you can see, the BookedAmt (from AD) works fine in each part of the report, but the related records subtotals and grand totals aren't acting correctly. Being forced to upgrade my Filemaker version. I bought it under the Educational discount just before I retired. I had to replace my computer this month and now I can't use that version of Filemaker (8.5). That's fine. It's an old version and I wanted to upgrade, anyway. I tried to update two databases from version 6 to 9 -- FM 9 read the files and then asked me for a password. I entered the password I had used, and a dialog said "The account and password you entered cannot be used to access this file." I was sure I had used the correct, case-sensitive password. I duplicated the files and opened them in v. 6, and deleted the passwords. Tried to open those in 9 and got the same message. Another post in this forum on the same issue said that since 6 did not require account names, you needed to enter the password in both the account name and password text entry fields. I just upgraded my Mac OS to Mojave (10.14.4). I am running FMP Advanced 11.0v4, and my databases are in FP7 format (due to a legacy system at work.) I now have a repeatable "glitch" where if I perform a find in a database and there are no records that come up as results (i.e., no records match the find), regardless which choice I make next (Cancel or Modify Find), the app quits and I keep getting the window to send the issue to Apple. I can immediately re-open the database, though usually the last 2-3 changes I made weren't saved. Other than the obvious option of upgrading the app, does anyone know of a workaround for this? The admin credentials for the server install have been lost to time, however we would like to change the server that the installation is running on due to the hardware being so old (Windows Server 2003). Hello I find in an old drives some fmp5 files. To open them in FMP18 I need to convert them first to FMP7. I have an old version of FMP7 however each time I install it the app crashes telling me the installer was modified with another version and crashes. I tried to download from the Filemaker site the trial version but I can't find it ... any help? Thanks

I am using a 2015 MacBook Air running Mojave 10.4.5 and a HP LaserJet 1102w. When I try to print from FileMaker Pro 10 the program will crash after the third print. If I try to save the record as a PDF first it will crash immediately. I have to go into two to five layouts to print an entire service order. The Genius at the Apple Store was unaware that FileMaker is an Apple product, told me to reset the printing system and try again. This made no difference. Basic Question: I am attempting to import 60 records from a CSV file. There are 4 fields per record: First Name, Last Name, Email and Source. When I choose Import Records... > File... from the File menu, everything looks good, 4 data points point to the correct field names: arrow icon "Import this field" but the rest are the double dots icon, "Don't import this field," and when I click on the Import button only the first record is imported. I've updated my computer from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. My FileMaker Pro Advanced 11 does not launch. I get the message "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." What's the solution for this issue? I have several customers that utilize our MarinaPro Marina Dockage Management solution. All are running Windows 10 Pro 64Bit and Filemaker Pro 11.0v2. All the MarinaPro solutions are functioning well with exception to the one marina that is using an HP LaserJet Professional M1217nfw MFP printer. The printer has been named "HP LaserJet". I'm a botanist, and the tables I am working with are for tracking botanical garden collections. The data represents plants in the garden, and the plants are tagged and show up in the database. Hi, A client of mine has an Windows 2008 Server which runs an SQL Server. Because he doesn't have another machine and (Due To some reason, my client do not wish to mess with current SQL database structure), so I will like to ins tall FM 11 runtime onto the same machine, The runtime solution is to schedule login to SQL server to perform importing / filtering and exporting data report. I and most of my clients are still on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003. I have several FileMaker executable files (solutions) developed using FileMaker 11 Advanced. Will these run on Windows 10? Will the Windows 10 compatibility mode (i.e., Windows 7) run these files? I don't have a Windows 10 machine to test.

I'm getting the attached error messages when trying to modify records in a file. It's appears as though there is some protection in place, privilege sets etc, but there isn't and never has been. I've tried recovering the file to no avail, is there anything else I can try? I haven't accessed this file in approx. 6 months, but have never had issues before and I'm the only user of the file.

I have a MacMini running macOS Sierra with FM11PA that works; however this FM11PA was installed when there was MacOS X 10.10 on the MacMini. Attempting to install FM11PA on my MB15R fails, well the installer appears to work fine( as pr attached image, ) but launching the app( as pr attached image ) tells me somebody has been fiddling with the installation and that I have to reinstall the application.

I'm running Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro just so I can continue to use FileMaker Pro 11. The software is owned by my client, which doesn't want to pay for an upgrade, and is used by two other people, one of whom has a PC. So I'm getting pushback on the idea of upgrading FMP right now. On the other hand, I have to use other apps which require using Yosemite. So, before I install Yosemite anyway and then find out FMP 11 won't run - has anyone had experience with running it on one of the latest Mac OS's? Our application is very simple. I am modifying the Invoice sample that comes with FM to provide some basic Inventory management functions. Works pretty well. However...I really need to be able to order a product in 2 ways : (1) (Kit - ISBN) and have that deplete and ship all of the parts that make the kit. Hi all, I'm summarizing line items of sales records. Items are charged in more than one currency, so I'm sorting/breaking the report by currency. I don't use a body part, only summaries, so that, for example, 85 sales of product xyz are shown on a single line per currency. The next line might show 34 sales of the same item in another currency. This works fine so far. In the trailing grand summary, I'd like to show the total like so: Total sales, US$: 2346.50 Total sales, EUR: 3562.52 This doesn't work the way my parts are set up, since I can only have the number field calculated once and FM just adds up all the numbers regardless of the currency. …

A button-attached script will perform error checking for field entries and then commit the record. I do NOT want a user to be able to commit a record by clicking outside a field, thereby avoiding using the button. Is it possible to disable this default Filemaker7 feature?

I'm still using FMP 10. Well, I was until a few days ago. I made the mistake of deleting my FMP from WIN7. No worries - just re-install it. It keeps asking me for a 'qualifying product'. Although I have the CDs for a few earlier versions, I cannot find any of the associated paperwork; so, no luck. (We've been moving from house to house for a few years and lots of stuff has gone missing or been buried in unrelated boxes.) Please don't nag me about backup! I have two identical tables only one of them has data inputted into it the other table has no user access. After a user has created a new record in Table A i want all of the data to be duplicated into Table B and just stored there. This is because Table A can later have individual records deleted and we need to keep a backup of all the data entered into Table A I did write and export script which exported the record from Table A to excel and then imported the excel file into Table B but this does not work very well over our network. Hi everybody: I have a product drop down list that shows all products for a certain supplier when making a new order. The list changes according to the supplier of the products. This is easily done by indicating who the supplier is in the products Table and making the appropriate relationship. Now, I want to shorten the list by eliminating obsolete products (I need to keep history, so I can't simply delete the obsoletes from the products table) The products table has a field which I can click when a product becomes obsolete. Hi: By mistake I installed FM11Pro using the same licence key on 2 machines Windows 7 and Windows XP (yes, I still use it and love it) I thought: no problem, I'll uninstall and reinstall on one of the machines. Surprise, it does not appear in Add/remove programs XP; Programs and features W7, so I have no clue on how to properly remove it. Right now I have 2 users who cannot use FM concurrently. A possible solution is to upgrade one machine with an extra licence of FMPA 11 that I have, but I find it strange to be unable to remove it. Any ideas? Thanks Carlos

I have a friend who has just switched from a PC to a new MacBook. We are having trouble transferring files between us. When ever I send her an updated FileMaker Pro file, or whenever she returns it to me, the name changes, and it requires several steps to get it to open - like this: 1. Could use some help hunting this down. I have a relational database with one table containing 3 primary data fields to find records including a status which is Pending, Active or Complete. The other selection fields are Activity, Project type, Program type. When the found set selection is status is Pending and Program type is Emergency Repair, a phantom record is created which I can delete. If I add the Project type to the find, no phantom. If I add the Activity to the search, a phantom is created. When I search for Pending on all other Program types in the database, there are no phantoms created. Hello, I manage a warehouse and created a database that maps all the pallet locations in the storage racks (about 400 uniquely named locations). I created a field for each location and each field has the same name as the location (ie: PR.001.A.01). The 400 unique fields are in 1 table named(Specific_Rack_Locations) and reside in 50 different layouts. There is only 1 record for this table. I'm running FM Pro 11 and recently installed it on a new Windows 7 laptop. Now a script that executes wget no longer works. See attached file for the error. I have installed wget in the Windows/System32 directory and that directory is in the PATH. I can sucessfully execute the batch file that contains the wget outside of FM Pro; it fails however when it is executed in a script (send event) Any ideas? Thanks.

I am working with a FileMaker application that was built and maintained in FMP4, and am trying to migrate into FMP11. The files were converted first to .fp5, then imported into FMP11 and coverted to .fp7. Overall the fields, layouts, scripts and security accounts survived the process with only some adjustments. I have a vertical solution that is designed to fit on screens that are 1024 pixels in height or higher. I have a client with several computers that have resolutions of 1080 pixels in height, but our solution does not fit correctly. The FileMaker window is maximized and if I run the function Get ( WindowDesktopHeight ) it returns 641. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is there a fix for this problem? OS: Windows 7

I am using FM Adv 11 on OSX I have a pretty simple situation. There are a couple of navigation buttons (right and left arrows) that, when clicked goto next or goto previous record. The 'mystery' comes into play when I navigate through my database, I get a beep on 'some' records'. It frequently is NOT reproduceable on the same record. It also occurs when I open a new window with a new layout in that window. Silence would be golden if I could figure this out. Your help is appreciated. Thanks Ron

I have 6 golfers per team and I want the 4 lowest scores from each team to be a total team score, but I don't want to click any buttons, just enter each players hole scores and once the total 9 hole score is calculated for all six golfers it ranks them. I understand that there may be scores with the same value (40,36,40,42,52,43) end result (36,40,40,42= 158).

I know there was a problem in the layout mode that was updated but yesterday we ran the new update 10.7.4 and now the files blur when scrolling until it goes dark. Only inside the database. The FM program frame with headers is unaffected. You can go out of one report to another and it corrects itself when going back to the prior layout, but only until you do another query. Help.....

I am sending emails to people in my database telling them the mailing address we have is incorrect. I want to include the "fields" that refer to that address in the email so they will see what address, city, state we were using. I have used the Developer Utilities in FM11 Pro Adv before, but now every time I try to create a runtime solution, the Create button is grayed out. Yes, I have selected the correct options, etc. I tried on files that worked just last week, but no go today. So I created a junk .fp7 file with only one table and one field. Still, the Create button is grayed out when trying to process this minimal file. Anyone have an idea of why the Create button is grayed out?

I need to be able to find the version of Internet Explorer that is installed from a FileMaker script, so that I can prompt my users to install the latest version of IE. I have done a lot of research and have found a way to do it on WinXP and Server 2003, but that method does not work on Vista, 7, and Server 2008. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I have just gotten delivery of a new laptop. How do I deactivate my licence on the old machine and set it up on the new one?

My mouse wheel scrolling does not work correctly. I can scroll, but only when I spin it very fast, not slowly one record at a time. I'm trying to scroll through the records while I'm in "view as form" in "browse mode." Has anyone had this issue and found a fix? Is it a FileMaker setting or a mouse setting? I just upgraded my computer from Win XP to Win 7. I had FileMaker Pro 11.0 v3 on my old machine and again on my new machine. I'm using the same mouse that worked on my old machine but now does not work on my new machine. Other folks in my office have Win 7, but they are not having this issue. Hi All, FMP 8 on a G4 mac running OS 10.3.9 (soon to be 10.4.11, but here we are). FMP Server 8.5 on... something else, but also mac OS. also old. I don't think it's a server issue. Running FMP8 on client works fine. However, when using "connect to remote" to connect to the server, I get a license conflict. Here is all i want to do, i want to rename the usernames i have in pro 7 to a different name structure (currently it's lastname first initial and i want to change it to first initial lastname). I am running FM 11 v3 in OSX. My application was running great until I installed Lion. Now my date fields are in Japanese. There does not seem to be any way to get them back to 'normal'. Or, am I missing something? Thanks

I have an early version of FM pro but with the new system for Mac (Lion) I find I have to replace it as it wont work on the new system. I have downloaded a test copy from the internet which works OK on the old system and was offered a new copy for $299 US. I contacted a local dealer and was advised that an Australian copy would cost me $499. The price difference seems unreal and I would like to know can I use the US system in Australia and what is the difference between the two versions. Has anybody experienced a failure within a new calculation of the "Evaluate this calculation from the context of.... " list to update with all appropriate relationships in the relationship graph. My file which started life in FM5 lost its reference to the main table recently, necessitating all new calculations to be copied from a previous calculation, which still had the full list, and then amended. I have partially overcome this problem by deleting the two relationships that remained in the list. This is the behavior I've seen reported to expect when updating files created in pre-10 versions that have Custom Menus which are missing new features, like Saved Finds. "1.2. When I open a series of files I find that the majority are neither listed in the Window - Open Files listing nor the Window / Show Window (hidden files) listing. The only practical way to navigate between files is to minimise the one in view, select the other file I need and maximise it. Surely there must be an easier way than that? I wonder whether this is an error on my system or a shortcoming of Filemaker 9 Advanced?

Hello, I am a FM novice. I work with Filemaker Pro 10 and here is my problem: I have a field where one can choose the value from the value list. Values are "YES" and "NO". My goal is to create the script which will navigate the person to the other specific field if he/she chooses "YES". As far as I understand this, I need to tell the FM that my "YES" in value list is certain number and then tell FM in script that if the Field matches this number then go to the field... But how to tell the FM the first text value in the valuelist is some value (number etc.)... Of course, any other suggestion/solution is welcomed. Thanks!

I have (maybe foolishly) just deleted a copy of 8.0v2 as it seemed to be opening my 8.5 files. However, I now get the above alert on opening my 8.5 files and am wondering if I can re-install the dictionary (not sure if it exists even) from maybe my install disc - is there a custom install for this or should I be more concerned...i.e. have I got a major problem here. Warning. If you are developing a solution to be used by both FM10 and FM11 users, you will now have to take care to watch the GET functions. The following get functions are have changed their names! Open a file in FMP11, create a new script that uses these one of the new functions, then open it in FMP10. The 'new' functions are not recognized. (not forward compatible) Even worse, open FMP11 now modify your new script to use either the old name or the new name. You can't use the old name in FMP11 since it is not a recognized function. I think FM 11 portal filtering will have a lot of great uses. It also presents some problems that will need to be solved. For instance, you can set up a filter that might show invoices by date or customer or something. Handy. But - how do you get the total for this filtered subset? The existing sum() function won't work, because it only operates on the basic relationship and is not affected by the filter. Of course, you could create a let function in the filter calc that creates a global variable. Hm.

I have a data base that I am keeping track of speeches each event creates a new record and I have it tied to a contact ID I just want a summary field listing all the talks this person gave with a comma between them......... I run a solution on FM 9 Adv. for one project that is data entry and printing of form letters and envelopes.There are some simple printing scripts as part of it. A second person helps out and enters data through IWP sometimes. Now that business has increased and we need her to print too. The data is kept locally on my MacBook Pro and it can remain there. The second person is normally only there when I am and there is no particular need to store the data on a server. Given that, what version of FM do I need so she can enter data and print just as I do running the original data and solution located on my computer? Do I need server or can I just get for her FM9?

I'm trying to create a button that lists all client records where their birthday is due within x days. I.E. Press the button and there appears a list of clients who's birthdays fall within the next 30 days. I'm sure it's been done a hundred times, but the method has changed in FM7 and I'm stuck. Hello, I wanted to know what is the simplest way (if a way even exists) to send a filemaker page to someone through email and have them fill out missing forms remotely. After a cursory search, I see that there are several email pluggins for Filemaker, but I have little knowledge of the program, let alone with it's pluggins, and I don't know which ones (if any) could help me accomplish this. I created a full name field by calculating First & " " & Last. All are text. It works on the layouts. It works when printing to PDf and preview. I actually see the full name. I then export the fields to a basic file. This gives me plain text, with each field surrounded by quotes. The fields all are what they should be, except for the full name field. It is "0" in every single instance. Why does it not produce text instead of 0? Is there any other way to output the fields as plain text. I don't really need the quotes, but I do need text in a file (not pdf)

I have a client who reported an error message saying 'Unknown error 18'. When he tried to find another record the list kept coming up with the same 3 records he had before he went into the find. The error message actually appeared twice every time he tried to do anything. It works on other machines. He re-started and the error kept coming up, but when he re-started a second time the error had vanished. Does anyone know what this error is and/or has anyone encountered it before?
