I'm running FM Pro 11 and recently installed it on a new Windows 7 laptop. Now a script that executes wget no longer works. See attached file for the error. I have installed wget in the Windows/System32 directory and that directory is in the PATH. I can sucessfully execute the batch file that contains the wget outside of FM Pro; it fails however when it is executed in a script (send event) Any ideas? Thanks.

This morning just after start on Filemaker Pro Advanced I've noticed an option to upgrade to the new version of Filemaker 12 Pro Advanced. There was a list of new features...like themes available to be customized and other. Does anyone know more about this upgrade? Has anyone had success pushing the silent install on Filemaker 13? both myself and two others have been trying but we can't seem to make it happen. Following the KB on it to the letter as best I can determine. http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7070/kw/silent%20install/related/1 modified setup.ini as instructed. I have a field in my database in which job applicants paste the text from their resumes. It often comes through with random line breaks that I'd like to clean up. (see attached) Â This isn't white space or carriage returns. Maybe it's a text wrap issue? Anyone have a function I could try? Thanks!Â

I just yesterday installed FM13Adv and this morning I opened one of my most oft-used files. The file opened fine but about half of the fonts were now italicized when none of them shoiuld be. Fonts are all installed and I use Font Explorer to control that area. My main text font is Garamond Premier Pro (it is setup fine in Preferences) and when I select one of the objects incorrectly formatted, the Inspector shows no font selected. I can change it to display correctly, but I hate the idea of having to change every one manually and I don't see a global command within FM. If I reopen the same file in FM12Adv, everything is fine. Hello,  I've been on FM12 for a while and thought I'd download FM13 and the trial a whirl for whatever period they'd allow.  The installer runs, lets me choose my language, extracts files and then up comes this box:  (Attached .jpg).  Looked at the instruction .pdf, dug down to pg8.  This ref doesn't seem to give a good idea related to the error appearing.  In fact, this is the exact same .pdf pretty much as seen in FM12.  And FM 12 went in like nothing early last year.  I've turned off the A/V, I am on an Admin privileged account.  I am using Win XP Pro SP3.  Plenty of disk space.  2gB of RAM on an AMD 2 core.  Wrote a quick note to FM via t…

I had this problem with FM12 and it continues on FM13. I have a script that reads (text to speech) a line of text just before it carries out a further action. I have found that occasionally this script stops just at the speech instruction and Filemaker crashes - spinning beach-ball of death, I have to force quit FM, relaunch and carry on. I use this 'speak and then act' approach on several different DBs using different scripts and this crashing behaviour seems to be associated with the text to speech. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing it?

Hi, Very basic question here. I've used FMPA for many years on a desktop machine. I just, for the first time, acquired a MacBookPro. I installed 13 on it. I can set my desktop files to share via FileMaker peer to peer and this works. I also have files installed on the laptop. My question is this. If I make changes to the files installed on the laptop, what's the best way to keep the files in sync. Vice-versa as well of course. I know many of you are in the same situation and may have good solutions. I know I can upload to DropBox from either machine upon closing a given file and then download from Dropbox upon opening. I ran out of space on my laptop, so I moved a huge folder called data (where I keep mostly installer EXE files) to another PC. Big mistake. Now, there are NO ENTRIES in my FileMaker file. I looked for FMPRO files in the data folder, but couldn't find them. How do I fix this mess? What is the name of the subfolder in data that I need?

I run a retail show and I give away $2 off coupons by email, but I am finding that people are printing about 25 of them and handing them out in the line to buy your tickets. I am loosing a lot of money. I would like to put a barcode on the email that they can print off and only use ONCE. From thinking about I thought that you could have a HTML code that made a random barcode and make it put a entry into filemaker and at the ticket booth have them scan it and if its been looked at more then once then reject it. Hi, Last week I posted regarding a problem with two script steps getting reversed. This was probably in version 11. However today I found something else strange while using FMPA13. As a result of my last glitch I've been paying closer attention to certain things. On a layout that serves as a pay slip I noticed something odd in the figures contained in a Summary field. Instead of displaying a running total it was displaying total. I am positive I never set the option from running total to total. It has always been a running total, but there it was, set to "Total". I'm posting this because I consider it an important enough warning. Sometime in 2011, a sub script that had worked for a long time stopped working. Well, it didn't fail, but began to stop recording important data. Somehow two script steps began working (and appeared in the editor) in reverse. What should have been SetVariable(all properly done) then GoToLayout (where the variable is used to SetField) got reversed so the SetField was failing without an error message. I found the problem just today. I have no idea how the steps got reversed. I must have done it of course because the data was empty from mid 2011 but complete before that. So why the warning? Hello - For our Food Pantry and Community Assistance Center, we are now using/developing in FM12 Pro Advanced. For the workstations at the desks, we run FM Pro 12. In the cloud,we run one copy of FM Pro Advanced 12 with the solution. We cannot afford Server, that money doesn't exist. Then we Open Remote from the workstations to the cloud. Not optimal I know but it gets us there. Now that FM13 is out, we are entitled to an upgrade install based on our recent date of purchse. Good News! I have gotten this message twice. It, of course, abruptly closes my app. The cause is a popup that I created to select reports to be run: For such a short section of script, it runs v e r y s l o w l y. One thing that may have caused this error, is that I upgraded from 02 and then thought I might have accidentally selected FM Pro 12 03 instead of FM Pro ADVANCED 03. So, I downloaded and installed the upgrade a second time. Could this have screwed with FM 'internalss' somehow? I am quite disappointed with the new FM version. A few of the bugs that were present in v. 12 (reported and documented) have not been fixed, and at least one new bug was added: 1. It is still impossible to select a button that is transparent by clicking on it; it is still impossible to see the outline of a button even if Show>Buttons is enabled. 2. Dynamic guides (pink) become permanently disabled if dragged to the edge of the screen (try it at your own risk – you will not be able to bring them back!) 3. Text transparency still not working. Hello All! I have a hugh problem. Today it works fine on my XP SP3 but the day I have to change computer I have to change platform from XP to 7 or 8. I have a huge number of registers working together so its no option to migrate those to FP7 format or re-write for FP7 as it would take to long time. Today I work with Shubeck Pdf plug-in which combine several pdfs within my script and put out an email with the pdf as attachment. It works great with ghostscript version 8.5. I am working with a FileMaker application that was built and maintained in FMP4, and am trying to migrate into FMP11. The files were converted first to .fp5, then imported into FMP11 and coverted to .fp7. Overall the fields, layouts, scripts and security accounts survived the process with only some adjustments. I know this is a long shot but I need to try. After working with FM12 for 3 months creating a IWP and using Selenium IDE to create automated testing of the web site, we have now upgraded to FM 13. None of the Selenium test scripts work with the new Web interface that FM 13 creates. Is there anyone else out there that is using this combination of FM 13 and Selenium that I could exchange notes with? I get the attached error message when I try to open the Assets starter solution made in FMPA v13, in FMPA v12.   At first I assumed that this meant that there was a general lack of forward compatibility between files made in v13 and the v12 app.  However, I don't get this error with other starter solutions, or files made from scratch in v13.  Also I can open .FMP12 files created in v12 in v13, add v13-specific features (like Pop-overs) and am still able to open them in FMP v12 (though the pop-over button does not show).  Does any one know what makes certain v13 files incompatible with the v12 app?   Â

I am frequently opening 11, 12 and 13 because of various projects and tests.  I am getting an error that I am unsure how to resolve.  OSX 10.9 rMBP 11.0v4, 12.0v5 and 13.   I sometimes WANT to open in FMPA12.0v5 instead of 13 so I specifically select 12 in 'Open With'.  I even make sure all other 12/13 files are closed (although with Mac I find it more difficult to tell) but I get the Error1 message (attached).  When I select 'change port', error2 windows appear - the first showing the port but immediately greys out and the second message appears on top.  Googling shows http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7669/~/mac-os-x%3A-error-message-when-…

Playing around with the starter solutions and I am renaming some fields to what I like them to be (btw, I love how fm goes uniformly to layouts and applies the changes). I am in the fields pane in manage db and I am selecting a field and starting to write a new name, now every once in while fm refuses to allow the field to change and only allows create. I have to cut and paste the new name and go in and out of the field. Seems like a bug. Really enjoying the changes so far however.

I have a vertical solution that is designed to fit on screens that are 1024 pixels in height or higher. I have a client with several computers that have resolutions of 1080 pixels in height, but our solution does not fit correctly. The FileMaker window is maximized and if I run the function Get ( WindowDesktopHeight ) it returns 641. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is there a fix for this problem? OS: Windows 7

Hello, I lost my Filemaker Pro 3 CD, but it is still running under Windows XP. Now I want to change to Windows 7. I have an Filemaker Pro 5 Upgrade licence but I still need a CD for Filemaker Pro of a previous version, which I can also install under Windows 7. Filemaker's official release-notes page for the FM Pro / Pro Advanced12.0v5 updater (weighing in at 750MB,) lists "OS X 10.9 Mavericks" compatibility and "other bug fixes" but doesn't go into any further detail. Anyone have a list of the smaller bug fixes in the 12.0v5 updater? Anyone else installed it yet, and if so, what are your experiences with it? Any new problems or new bugs so far?

I have a small Notes area in a portal row that I want my users to be able double click on and bring up a more robust Notes area. If they don�t double click I want the same functionality before the script, that was it edited the Notes in place when they click. I have seen some scripts that do this like this one (pic) but I think my problem is that I want click on the text area as the button that tells the script to run. Once this click is made it cancels out the double click procedure. I have played around with some script steps and move some other login into the script, but after spending some time I decided to try to get an answer to is this even possible.

After converting an existing FM11 file to FM12, some of my users are experiencing a strange issue that causes their Filemaker to become completely unresponsive to mouse clicks or keyboard interaction. The FM Menus can still be dropped down but selecting an option does nothing. The only way to fix the issue is to Force Quit Filemaker Pro and reopen the program. I've looked through the known bugs for FM12 but I cannot find anything that matches this issue. Has anybody else experienced this?

FileMaker Pro 12 introduced a new keyboard shortcut. When the cursor is in a field and you type "cmd <" on a Mac with a Swiss French keyboard, the font size of the field drops by a point and when the cursor is not in a field, nothing happens. Unfortunately I have been using the same keyboard shortcut for a about 30 years to toggle between windows within the same application. Would anyone know how to deactivate "cmd <" in Filemaker or know how to redefine it?

Trying to determine the way to show the sequence of numbers in a different order. I have a data base with UPC numbers that come as 4567890 or 6789405 + any other order but all have the same numbers. I thought I would share some of my disastrous issues with FM12 --- some of these have not been discussed here. Fortunately, fm support now has copies of the solution I have which demonstrates a huge number of problems and have been quite good in their feedback to date. I have a solution that is quite complex in nature. It is hosted on a mac -- fm server 12. Accessing this remotely over the Internet under fm11 was no issue. On fm12 it's a disaster. I am using FM Adv 11 on OSX I have a pretty simple situation. There are a couple of navigation buttons (right and left arrows) that, when clicked goto next or goto previous record. The 'mystery' comes into play when I navigate through my database, I get a beep on 'some' records'. It frequently is NOT reproduceable on the same record. It also occurs when I open a new window with a new layout in that window. Silence would be golden if I could figure this out. Your help is appreciated. Thanks Ron

This specific behavior doesn't seem to be covered by any of the other threads I've seen cataloging problems with FMA: I think it's slightly drunk. When I move from Layout to Browse, the menu still displays the tools from Layout. When I move from Browse to Layout, the tool icons (arrow T line square etc) don't appear in the header. When I change from one layout to another, the LAYOUT: indicator doesn't update to reflect the new layout. When I change the name of a layout, then referernce it in a script, the script still shows me the previous layout name. I have 6 golfers per team and I want the 4 lowest scores from each team to be a total team score, but I don't want to click any buttons, just enter each players hole scores and once the total 9 hole score is calculated for all six golfers it ranks them. I understand that there may be scores with the same value (40,36,40,42,52,43) end result (36,40,40,42= 158).

I know there was a problem in the layout mode that was updated but yesterday we ran the new update 10.7.4 and now the files blur when scrolling until it goes dark. Only inside the database. The FM program frame with headers is unaffected. You can go out of one report to another and it corrects itself when going back to the prior layout, but only until you do another query. Help.....

I have a possible solution for a large database with up to aprox 40,000 different slow moving stock lines at any time, 60,000 customer details and 20,000 components at any time. We would need to be able to calculate stock levels regularly and run aged stock reports in particular we would need to be able to run this for previous dates not just today. Would FileMaker crack or is there some way of getting this easily? The best thing is if we could run calculations of things like stock quantity and value. I am not sure if I should take this on because of the speed of performing some calculations. I have not worked with Filemaker form some time, I did a lot in the day…

I rarely write, mostly read and learn. Have been using FM since 7. Currently using FM12 Pro, Pro Advanced, Advanced Server. All are up to date. Actually never had any version prior to FM 12 crash. Now am experiencing unexpected crashing, slow responce when simply navigating to another layout and many other anomalies that we never experienced before. This happens in XP-Pro, Windows 7. What is disconcerning is we moved three big clients (50 licenses two of them and 25 the other) to FM 12. I'm using Filemaker 8.5. Trying to add a command to a script to open a window to an SFTP (Secure FTP) site. The URL format is like this: sftp://[email protected] I'm using the Open URL command. I can get it to work with "regular" ftp URLs, but it doesn't seem to work with SFTP URLs. Any ideas? thanks!

A filed with Numeric format designated to store amount cash dividends paid in currency format. This field, however, for sometime is empty if there was no dividends was paid. But keeping the field empty might be misleading for the user. I decided to replace the empty value with "No Dividends for This Year". Becuase the field is in currency format I can't show the text in it. Is there a way to make the field shows a text if the value is empty without afecting the numeric values for other years that table.

I recently converted a cashbook app from 11 to 12 - it has a simple global container (not saved remote) that is for the user to import their logo - jpg etc . Same application works fine in 11 with simple data_entry level access but in FMP12 it requires full access. Any other level and the field becomes inaccessible. I have created new global containers and they behave the same way. It is something to do with privilege settings but I can't find anything wrong and I can't find any reference to this anywhere on the web.

Until recently, stuck on FMP 9, I could de-activate a computer by going to the Help menu. I bought FMP 12 for a client, and used a copy of it to do development work for her. Now I can afford (just!) to buy my own FMP 12 Advanced, I want to release the copy so that my client can use it. Does 'deactivate' still exist in FMP 12? Thanks Emma

Greetings Filemaker Gurus. When FMP 12 was first released I tried installing it on one of my workstations, and did a database conversion from 10 to 12 "locally." At the time I was not very pleased with the performance drop I saw from switching to 12. The database appeared to be running slower, and all sorts of graphical issues were making my layouts look very ugly, like buttons were no longer clicking, just would go to the page. I am not sure if performance would be better or worse once I upgraded our FMP Server 10 to Server 12, but I wasn't willing to risk it, I decided to wait a while and see if any patches were released. Hello - I am collaborating with someone in the next state on my Food Pantry solution. He is far more skilled at this than I am to say the least... We're using a hosting service (fm47.###.net) to work together. If he is sitting on a layout and I try to hop on it, FM does its thing and warns that the layout is being worked on, that it's locked and would I like to chat with the person sitting on it. I typed a short message and hit Send. He says he sees the message but cannot reply. We're trying to figure out how to make this work from both ends. Have to capture current Layout Name, Table Name and Tab Name. First two are done by Get ( LayoutTableName ) and Get(LayoutName). The third, to get current Tab name, should go with Get(TriggerCurrentTabPanel). Manual says that is has to go along with OnTabSwitch script trigger. When I try to set OnTabSwitch script trigger, right click on button, it wont allow me to use it. All other options on trigger menu are available but OnTabSwitch. I did check are Tabs named properly and it seems ok. If anyone can help, please welcome. Best regards

Hi, I'm using LibreOffice Base to create queries that retrives data in Filemaker via the ODBC driver. Since version 12, it seems like the connection is well done but the data cannot be retrieve, I get this error message: "The data content could not be loaded. The execution of the query doesn't return a valid result set." If anyone could help me with that I would be glad! Thanks

After updating FM 12 Advanced v12.01 to v.12.03, I happily worked with the program and didn't noticed any problems, till today. I started working on my file again and scripting away, un till I wanted it to debug. Opened data viewer and ran the script, but nothing showed up in the data viewer. No global variables, nothing. So I tried again and again. Made a new file, changed lay outs, threw away my preferences, etc, etc. But even on a new bare file I didn't get something to show up in the data viewer. Running it with script debugger where you go step by step, everything is there. But after the script has run, bingo... empty viewer. When I switch to Watch in the data viewer…

After such a long wait (25 months) and so much secrecy about it, FM 12 was finally out! Being a newcomer to FM 11, I reasoned: "if there are so many developers behind FMI products, it must be worth getting FM 12"... Big mistake! I keep reading this and other FM based forums as well as FMI forum. And what I see is FM developers despair versus FMI indolence. Since I know that FMI entrenched official policy is lack of feedback and no care for their customers concerns, it makes no sense to ask them. I am coming back to filemaker after a long break, since the introduction of FM7. Should I upgrade to to FM12 from an unused version 11 before I start work on my solution? Otherwise I will have to work on 11 and upgrade all to 12. It would seem a shame to have to upgrade to a new format later when it is already here.

Hey Guys, Hopefully this is the correct forum. Basically I am wondering which version of FM is going to be the best for me. I obviously cant give a full overview of my entire project, but I can give some general bullets. I need to be able to do pretty complication equations. In the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, Application section of the OS X Keyboard System Preferences, I've defined some shortcuts for menu commands which can't be selected for Custom Menus, like Script Debugger and Custom Functions, or to use keys which are common in other applications (like Cmd-plus and -minus to zoom in and out, which FM's Custom Menus doesn't accept as shortcuts). The shortcuts worked and still work nicely with FileMaker 11 (and are displayed beside their respective menu items), even if FM 11 and 12 are open at the same time. I am running FMP12 Advanced on OS 10.6.8 and it is unexpectedly quitting on me several times per day. I just opened it this morning, told it to create a new starter solution, and as soon as I clicked save it quit on me. I cannot remember the last time FMP11 quit on me. I am sending emails to people in my database telling them the mailing address we have is incorrect. I want to include the "fields" that refer to that address in the email so they will see what address, city, state we were using. We just upgraded to FMSA 12 from version 11. It appears that when pasting information into a text field the text's format comes along for the ride. This didn't happen in version 11. I'm assuming it's because of themes? We often copy from one source of information (email, web, word documents, etc.) into FileMaker. Having differing fonts and sizes in text fields has become annoying to the users. Is it possible to turn this new "feature" off? Or, is there some other way of maintaing the font and size that is configured for the field? Many thanks.

I have a problem occur today with my filemaker database. The system is networked and while two of us were modifying/viewing records, my colleague was copy/pasting data from one record to another using command c and command v. I have successfully copied and pasted from one record to another in the past but this time when she pasted into one record it pasted the data into the field in all records. I have never seen this before without a script and since she left the field not knowing what happened there is no option to undo. So needs some help please..... So in my FM data base I want to enter in our job number and have it look up information from our ERP system and populate some basic information like; Customer Name CSR SalesPerson ETC. (Based on us putting in the job number.) Although I'm not sure how putting in number and having it populate multiple other fields is the trick? Hi there, 1. On first Import (its XML but thats not important), fields are matched in the import, creating the entries (all with unique IDs). 2. Now I want to import again, this time the XML contains additional entries BUT also the entries from the first import (additional IDs). 3. I have a multi-file solution in FM11 that I am trying to convert to FM12. I want to change the file names in FM12 to reflect a new release of my software as well as the fact that it is using FM12. For example, files names in FM 11 were 'xx4v11xx' reflecting release 4 of my software using the FM 11 platform. I want the files in FM12 to have names like 'xx5v12xx'. What is the procedure to do this? All attempts to get to new names in FM12 have so far have failed to convert the relationships resulting in 'field not found' for any relationship that has tables in different files.

Hello, I'm trying to set up a virtual list, similar to what's described here http://fmforums.com/...virtual-tables/. I've got a separate table set up for the virtual list, and have a script that populates a global variable $$REPORTVALUES. For some reason, my calculation fields in the virtual list table will not evaluate $$REPORTVALUES or any other global variable. I don't know if this is something I'm setting up wrong, or something peculiar to FMP12. I've tried setting the values field to evaluate other global variables, but still no luck. I would like to share with this forum some benchmarking results, between Filemaker 12 and Filemaker 11. And if possible to confirm this conclusions with other FM 12 users. Scenario: Hardware: Core i7, L620, 2GHz, 8Gb RAM. OS: Windows 7 PRO 64bits File: One layout, 180 fields, 1 script with 178 variables. Test scenario: Run the script, with script debugger and Data Viewer (current tab) opened, showing 10 lines. I may be dumb but FM has discontinued sales of version 11, right? That means if I have, say, ten clients working on a database hosted by a version 10 server and they want to add 5 more clients, the only way to do that is to pay for the upgrades of those ten clients to version 12, pay for the server upgrade, pay for 5 more v12 clients (which they'd do anyhow but still) and on top of that convert their database and pray it all goes well? And that is more or less doable, but what i have several companies like the aforementioned one working on a single server? Today we installed FMSA 12 in combination with FMPA 12. It appears that extensive scrips in our solution run about 25% longer than in FMSA 11 and FMPA 11. For instance: 2 minutes in FMSA/FMPA 11 becomes 2 minutes 30 secons in FMSA/FMPA 12. Do you recognize this?

Having done some testing with a solution converted to 12, I've started to see that I wasn't getting the 1st record under my scripts to import from .csv files. I looked back at how 11 was set up for the import and found the dialogue that asks if the 1st row is data or not. In 11 and before, you could check one or the other. Then I looked for this dialogue in the same import scripts under 12 and could not find the dialogue. In its absence, FM12 always treats the 1st record as a label, and not data. Is this just an outright bug, or is there some other way the imports have to be configured in FM12?

I'v got Filemaker 10, 11 Adv and 12 Adv. is there any way at all to have my files sync in real time on a 3G network (no WIFI because that is working for me.) It seems to me that the only way this is possible is to get FileMaker Server, is that true. I've got a Static IP Address on my Home Computer and I got Filemaker Go 11 and 12 on my IPhone. Any way at all that I can do changes to my database on the road (out of WIFI range) and that it would sync automaticly on my home computer in real time?? Please help. Thanks

Hi, Forum! My company uses FileMaker Pro and Server as our basic Database for operations. Our database is pretty huge. It holds over 40 files, and each of them is up to 4.5GB at most. Most of them have relationships each other. It's running under FileMaker Server 11 with PC, which has 2 x 3GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon, and 12GB 667MHz DDR2. Every morning, we run the script that does import, calculate, and bunch of field sets. It takes about 2 hours straight.
