Honeywell 1400g Barcode reader. Basically I am trying to read an EAN 13 barcode, I need the reader to read it, drop the last check digit and put in a carrage return. This used to be a simple matter of scanning three barcodes on my old readers but now I just can't make it happen. Does anyone have any experience of these units. The people that sold them to me offer no help and the Honeywell site is useless except for the PDF 216 pages that I am trying to get help from.

I have some simple databases that I like to give to a friend who does not have FMP. Can somebody advise me if there is a DB application that allows one to export date to or import data from FMP? Or even better do a save as? It is important that the new DB can be edited so that my friend can add stuff or delete. Also, if it is easy to create the DB and maintain it would be great - programmer skills are very limited. BTW. It needs to be able to run on a Mac and be a standalone application. Preferably Plug and play and easy to use. Looking forward to your suggestions ...

As we all know, FM's collection of SVG files available for button icons is rather limited. Having found others outside that set that match my needs, I've hit a roadblock for how to add them in. There is no import function, at least none that I can find. Nor can I simply copy and paste the files to the correct folder, which is located under the Windows Programs subfolder which prohibits manual file editing or pasting. Does anyone have a workaround? Thanks.

Hello, I'm setting up a FileMaker worker machine to provide web access to our FileMaker Server (version 16), going through a PFSense firewall. I have a NIC on the worker facing the Internet, and another going to the OPT2 NIC on the firewall. I thought it would be fairly simple to direct that through the firewall and onto our private network, but I can't even ping the firewall from the worker machine. Wondering if there's anyone here familiar with this setup, or perhaps just a good idea in general what I should do here. My networking experience is limited. Thanks, Ron

I can't find a ready fix, but is there a setting in Windows 10I need to make so it FileMaker Pro's keyboard shortcuts work? For example, when I want to align fields on the right edges in FMP, the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl + Alt + Right, but when I enter that keystroke it rotates the image on-screen to the right. Other keyboard shortcuts work, e.g., Ctrl + L to go into Layout mode. Ciao, Rich

I notice FileMaker 18 technical requirements (https://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-pro-advanced/18-technical-specifications.html) requires a minimum 10 year Windows PC (Windows 7 SP1 Professional Edition) but with only minimum 1.5 year old Mac operating system (macOS Sierra 10.13). Even the RAM requirements are double for the Mac. This is making it very difficult and wasteful to support Mac installations as perfectly useful Mac computers are incompatible at all or with major OSX upgrades which are not always simply installed. What is happening here with FileMaker or Claris because this is not a equal playing field.

Barb, good sleuthing to find out what the issue was. I have a client that is using FileMaker in an RDS Farm and is having Not Responding issues intermittently during the say, mostly in the morning. We are trying to make sure there isn't a network issue that is causing the issue and it appears not to be a database issue. Do you have any recommendations for the configuration of the RDS Farm? Longtime FM Pro user, and it's still my go-to app builder whenever I have a choice. But now I've got to put together an Access-based solution at work. Might make sense to ask these questions in an Access forum, but so far, nobody there knows FileMaker, so... Hello, I have a filemaker server 15 advanced running on windows server 2008r2 in a local LAN network. I want to connect to server with client (filemaker 15 pro). Everything work well in the local LAN but I am unable to access to the database outside the office using internet connection and IP. I just have made the port forwarding setup (5003 and 16000) but no results. Maybe the Windows server need to be opened in some service or funcionality? Before of the server I had a simepl windows XP pc running filemaker server 5.5 and it work well also outside the lan. Thank you

Hello, I am using l am filemaker 15 pro advanced in windows 10 computer (64 bit, 8gb ram). I buy it few week ago and i converted my database from the old version fm5. The database work properly but it is very slow to open, about 60 second or more. I am working as standalone (no remote connection). I noted thta if the PC is offline (no network or internet connection) the database open in less that 6 second. It is very strange because I have not any ip configuration and any sharing option... what can be the problem? Thank you in advance Vincenzo

It's been a very long time since I've developed in Filemaker (remember FM7?). Anyway, I am currently putting together a solution for field collection of data and images using Filemaker on Windows 10 tablets. I ended up purchasing Lenovo Yoga 2 10.1" tablets and upgrading the OS's straight away. I couldn't find "the perfect hardware" for all day field work including photo capture, often in low light. The Lenovo's won because they were the only Windows tablets that would give me a full 10hrs use in the field without having to carry some belt mounted extra battery pack, and the camera is acceptable at 8MP. We recently bought an Evolysis Card Printer, which prints Front and Back of the card automatically. (Current Situation: We are using a Corel Draw template, the front is on page 1, while the back side is on page 2.. when we want to print, we simply select page 1 and 2 and the printer prints the ID Card front and Back automatically) However, with filemaker, we print the front and then inserts the card back to the printer so as to print the back side. Our Server is situated in the Office. We can all connect using Client and using the web browser by entering the address http://192.168.1.4/fmi/WebD# But now, I want to be able to connect from home. I have checked the forum on similar topics on Port fowarding, so I tried configuring ours , my settings are shown on the screenshot attached. We have Static IP Address for our Router (which is shown on the screenshot), however, I can't seem to connect. I don't know where I got it wrong, though my Router's interface settings are quite different from the suggestions posted on the forum.

LS, We are using the MediaManager plugin for manipulating images and store them in a shared folder. This folder is then accessed even thorough the web. The problem I encounter is the following : Some clients work with Terminal Server. The image is manipulated and then exported to a folder ( on a shared folder on MacOSX ). The folder has the correct rights settings, but the file just gets administrator rights, nothing else. FMClients kan view the files ( photo's ) on both platforms, but websites can't download of display the file in a browser. Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance !

Is there any way for Filemaker Pro 14 to load and use commands/functions in a .DLL file? In my old system using PowerBuilder/Oracle, we can load a .DLL file to PowerBuilder with “OLE Control” and call the functions inside .DLL to work with PowerScript. Can I do the same thing with Filemaker? Is there any plug-in that will do the job?

I don’t remember seeing any posts about problems associated with using El Capitan and FileMaker Pro 11 or for that matter 12.0v5, & 13.0v5 I have several files written in FileMaker Pro 11, and I would like to continue to use them in 11 and eliminate the time-consuming conversion to FileMaker Pro 14. With all of the problems surrounding FileMaker Pro 14 and (Servers) I'm reluctant to upgrade to El Capitan in fear that El Capitan will end up corrupting my older files. Has anybody experienced any problems using El Capitan with FileMaker Pro 11? I would appreciate hearing about your experiences.. TIA, Lee

Hello: Can someone recommend a high end camera to take pictures of inventory and have the image stored in a container field. I'm taking images of inventory parts and need a high end camera so that someone can snap a picture and have the image stored directly into a container field. We are doing a assembly line type setup so speed and a good camera are essential. The camera will be mounted on a pole mount so the user can move it up and down before snapping the picture. Anyone? Does anyone know whether it is possible to print directly from Filemaker to a Dymo Labelmanger Wireless PnP (I'm not talking about the widely known LabelWriter, but the ribbon-type printer from Dymo). USB or Wifi doesn't matter that much to me. Problem though is that I can currently use it only with Dymo’s own Labeling Software, but would like to print using FMP.

In every other Mac program that I am familiar with, if one command clicks on the window title you get a hierarchical view of where that particular document lives on your computer. This does not seem to be the case in FMP12 or FMPro 14. Am I doing something wrong, or is this capability not supported in FM? Thank you!

Hello I have an old portable mac running FMSA 11 in a dusty cupboard and it works fine. I am reading great things about Raspberry Pis and so I am wondering if anyone has tried to run Filemaker on a RPi? As apple is already using ARM processors maybe it is possible? Hi All, Specs: Windows 7 pro SP1, FileMaker Pro 14, Java 7.45. I first install FMP 14 64bit. When I realized the 64bit did not work with outlook, I uninstalled the 64bit and installed the 32bit. The application works as long the user does not use any the pulldown menus in the toolbar. Example (File: Open Remote). The user gets a message that FMP stopped responding and needs to shut down. There were previous versions were installed. I had their IT department uninstall all previous versions of Filemaker Pro and reinstall FMP 14. The problem still exists. They are using java 7.45. We have a solution in a Printing company where everybody can access their email via my "print / email" script except for one guy. He get this error message when he choses "Email". When I ask him what happens when he clicks "Switch To" he tells me that he get a list of all different applications. My user has not clue nor do I. So I am not sure exactly what to say here. Can we help him ?? Is this an issue with their network and not for us as their solution developer ?? I have three machines now that are having the same problem. All use some form of Intel HD Graphics, built in. The problem is that large Edit boxes will show like duplicated lines, cut off words, white horizontal lines through text. If you zoom out and back in the anomalies disappear. From the googling I have done you need to disable hardware acceleration. That is cool except the Intel driver blocks access to it by greying it out in the properties. After being able to avoid this for as long as I could, I need to run some tests of solutions I've developed on Windows. I'm a Mac guy. I'm looking at VM Fusion as the emulator but I'm extremely confused on what version of Windows I should purchase. I've seen both 32 and 64 bit versions, OEM versions, etc. This will be with FM 13 client, possibly server too down the road. We have several iMacs running snow leapord. Each has 8gb ram. FMServer 11 is running on a windows server 2008 r2. The iMac users are using FMPro ver. 11. I am going with a mac mini, maxed at 16gb, and with four cores, either the current or the new ones, which I expect to have pci ssds (which is no big deal if you'll be running your db from ram anyway), for a 50 strong company with 1-6 concurrent connections, for the time being. I ‘ll have for starters about 2-3 go clients, 5 desktop clients, and the rest will be webdirect. On average I would expect 3 people to be inputting at any time and about another 3 browsing the db. Are there any red flags that I should be aware of?

Not sure if this belongs here, but no other forum seems to fit either. We have a file that is really very simple (three tables, one relationship). One of three persons can work on this file. We have agreed that whenever one of us makes any changes to the file, they will immediately email the modified copy to the other two persons. I know there are better solutions to this, but we don't want to get into that just now. Here's the problem: Whenever one of us sends the file to the other two it comes through as document in unknown format in binary, even though the file has an .fmp extension. Hi, I have a server on one of the ISP. For more than one years it is running. But today I can not connect to databases published. I have checked the port number 5003, it is open. Windows firewall is off. FileMaker sever is running, I can connect server by the filemaker runs on the server machine. FileMaker running on the server machine can not connect any other server. I have a small lan (3 workstations) connected to fmserver 13. OS is win server 2008 R2 . It is working without any problems. I would also like to connect to it remotely with a WAN connection. The IP address of the server is 192.168.1.102. I know I have to forward a port on the router which is an Asus RT-N66U. This is a screen shot of my settings. However when I run a test to check if Port 5003 is open it fails.  Â

Hi, I am looking to create a solution that does one of the following two tasks: Interrogate an NMS to which SNMP codes have been sent (I do not wish to interrogate the device/service themselves sending the traps OR Have the ability for Filemaker to act as an NMS itself - actually, this would be the more seamless version, and preferred method. Does anybody know of such a product or how it may be achieved? I just installed FM Pro 11 on two Windows 7 (home edition) machine and I cannot see my main file on the server. I set up the Windows Firewall properly to enable FM Pro 11. Settings are ok with my main file. On the client machine, I can see the server but when I click on it, no name appears on the right-hand window. Do I need to upgrade to Windows Server? Attached is a screen shot of my attempt to save a file to a folder.  Sometimes, FM identifies that I'm working in a folder on my desktop (eventually) and, when this box opens, it lists that folder down below so I can just select it.  But sometimes no matter what I do, I cannot get it to save the file where I want it.  I end up having to save it to my desktop and then moving it.  Situation:  I have a folder on my desktop with an FM file in it.  I double-click to open the FM file and then select Save As.  But it will not show that folder for me to specify saving a copy into the same folder on my desktop.  If I select Desktop, it wants to save it there.  …

I have a client system which includes the collection of proof of delivery signatures using iPhones. The system is hosted on a server. The client has a mixture of Macs, XP and now Windows 7 users. The signatures are copied from the iPhone sub system into the main database using a server side script on a regular schedule. The signatures are visible on macs using the system, and were also visible on PC's using XP, but since the client upgraded to Windows 7 the signatures show the icons of the signature file only on the upgraded PCs. OS is Win7, Server's OS is Server 2008 R2. I have a server + 3 workstations. From one particular workstation I can't connect peer to peer, or to the server, when I try to map a drive from it. However all the other workstations, including the server, can connect to it. Discovery is on, I have googled and googled but can't seem to fix it. Hello - I'm rather new at this and I am sure there is probably an easy way to do this but... 1. I exported a Playlist from iTunes (latest version) as a text file and saved it as an Excel File and also as a Filemaker 12 file. 2. I would like to sort any of these files by the "Date Added" field. On a win7 pc I have opened an Fm12 file. Sharing is on, and I have network access set to all users. The "Don't display in open remote dialog" is unchecked. When I use the open remote command from a client PC, I do see the IP address of the host, but it doesn't display the fm12 file I am trying to open. I know the network is operating properly, because I can access the folder on the host computer from the client. I can even run the FM file from the client without using the open remote command.

Hi, Three remote offices connect to a hosted FM solution (larger than 50.000 records, many tables and files, separation model in place) using port 5003. The database is located in office 1. Office 2 is in the same country, different city, office 3 is in a different country. Both remote offices complain that the FM solution is slow when showing records and other operations (not even mention showing a report). They are using 4 Mb and 10 Mb symmetrical DSL lines. Has anyone had any experience using WAN optimization hardware, e.g. Silverpeak, with FileMaker? The basic idea is you have two dedicated machines at both physical locations of the WAN which inspect the data and cache it, so the next time the user requests the same data, they pull it from the local machine rather than across the WAN. So I have some questions, Without buying filemaker Server, can we: Both work on a filemaker database project - editing layouts, etc? Use my computer to essentially be the "Server" and allow other computers to remotely access the data base, including iPads / iPhones? Hello Im using a trial filemaker 11 on my new mac and needed to open an old filemaker executable database that was made in windows 7 some years ago. I just needed to know if it`s possible to open or importing or exporting something to make it work, just to check some data .... I have just recently started receiving this issue: When I open FMP12A for the first time when I boot my PC, I get the error message: filemaker cannot share files over the web because of a port number conflict. I follow the message and enter a random port number to try and get through it... following this FMP closes with no message or anything. If I try to reopen FMP, it will just close again. I have tried multiple uninstalls and tried to look around for solutions but no luck... Has anybody experienced something like this before? Cheers!

Hi All I was having sporadic problems with FM 8.5 on windows XP with 4 stations networked, after using it successfully for 4 years, which may or may not have been FM's fault. So I tried reinstalling FM on the main workstation (server) which worked fine, however none of the clients can connect due to "Number of users exceed limit". The number of users didn't change and I can see the server in the connect remote dialog box. It's as if on the UNinstall ( I used the windows REMOVE PROGRAMS) it didn't remove the users (?) and now it thinks there is 8 (?) Any clues? Or is the God's way of saying upgrade? I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues or experience creating an install package using the script provided by FMI. I've followed the instructions on the Network Install Guide and have not found any success. All I get is a 4KB ARD.pkg file which does nothing. I ran into a problem. The documentation states that FM 12 Pro does work on a Vista machine. I get the following error when trying to install it: You cannot install or uninstall FM on this system. I'm just beginning to try and configure a network to allow access to the FileMaker system from the outside world. The company has a cable connection to the Internet with five static IP addresses and the rest of the computers being configured with DHCP. They also have a Time Capsule providing wireless access to the network. The FileMaker Server, running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and FileMaker Server 9.0.3.326 is one of the machines with a static IP address. Hello, I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion. I am using fmpa10. When I tried to open a database file I received an error message saying: "BioASys.fp7" could not be opened. (Permission Denied) I tried opening other files in fmpa10 and got the same error. I also have fmpa11 on my system and the files opened ok in fmpa11. Does anybody know how to set the correct permission so that I can open my file. Thanks, George

I am running Filemaker 5.0.0.103 on my Dell Optiplex 745 with Windows XP and it runs fine. The reason I purchased this Windows XP based computer is because I could run my Filemaker version 5.0.0.103 on this machine with no problems. My question is the same now as when I bought this Dell computer and I still can not get an answer to my question. I'm developing FMP applications in a small company which uses FMP11 Server Advanced in a Windows Environment to support nearly 100 legacy FMP databases. I'm carrying out some rebuilding and consolidation on local copies of these databases running on my computer which is - normally - logged onto the the domain so I have access to the internet, local file servers and so on. The problem is that all of these databases are set to share on the network by default, so if I open a local copy on my computer, it presents itself on the network as a shared database and will attempt to locate the networked server versions of the files rather than my local ones. I was wondering if there is a way in Filemaker or even a plugin that I could grab information out of the active directory of the company's domain, one of the projects I have in mind is to create a table populating all the users in the domain, and creating a folder for each user with the exact name in a network directory, we currently have a VB script file in out server that runs every time a user logins so we can map network folders based on the users that's why I need to create folders with the same user so I can match the names, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it with Filemaker. Being a Mac user I'm not very familiar with Filemaker aspects on Windows. In the past I was very disappointed by two aspects of FM on Windows XP. One was that resizing a page in Print Setup would not allow more content to be printed, but instead it just made things smaller and chopped off content at the side and bottom of a page. Today a colleague showed me that this problem no longer exists with FMP v12 on Windows 7. My second complaint about FM on the Windows platform seems not to have changed. I didn't see a Forum called "Dumb Questions", so since Mange Databases is related to Relationships I thought I would ask here. I can't figure out why my new installation of FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced will not recognize the Shift-CMD-D keystroke to manage databases. It does nothing. I have a customer that just downloaded the latest FileMaker Pro (not Adv), after purchase, in the standard fashion to his desktop. He is running a relatively new PC box, plenty powerful and has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed. Our employees carry around HID branded proximity cards for physical access to the building, and I'd like to allow employees to login to my FileMaker solution with these cards instead of typing in their username and password all the time. This would speed things up and encourage people to carry their cards with them. We have a database to process unique ID's and time and Date stamps built using FM10 running on OSX, the equipment used to gather the time information stores them in a text file on a USB stick, we can then import this data to the database for processing once the gathering has been completed. I have Filemaker Pro 11 full version installed on my PC. Then I'v updated to Filemaker Pro 11 Advanced. Been working no problem for months. Recently I had an error when starting FMP Adv. Port conflict witch was port 80. Tried to switch to 591 with no succes. So I decided to reinstal FMP Adv. but I can't it's giving me the error "1334. Why does FM Pro Adv. when hosting change IP address? I use a 2nd computer on our network running FM 10 to connect to the 1st computer running FM 9 Adv. From time-to- time, the IP address for sharing on the host computer will change and I'll have to add a new IP address under Remote Access. Why is that and can I prevent the IP address from changing?

Saw the other Remote Desktop post below, but this is a different issue. We upgraded to FM 11 a few weeks ago, from Verion 6. For the most part, it is great. However, when we scroll through records on the Remote Desktop, it has wicked lag time, between records. See a little lag on my desktop, but nothing like this. I should say Terminal Services, rather than just Remote Desktop. Different animal. Running about 20 TS Clients. Good hardware, but I don't know the specs. I ran a TS Session from my desktop, with the Server in the next room. Still, way too much lag time. TS CPU does spike to 90/100%, but it comes back down within 5 seconds. Not an…

Hi, Is it possible to install two FMP11A license on the same machine? Most of you will ask "Why?" We are planning to install Remote Desktop Services on a Windows Server 2008 R2 to allow users to use FMP11 directly on the server. We have a volume license for the normal version, but not for the advanced one. Since we will be two developers, we need to work with the advanced version. Using remote desktop, we can't run a normal license concurrently, we need a different license for both of us. So like the title says, is it possible to install two licenses on the same machine or any legal work around? Thank you

Here is something very peculiar I have run into using Filemaker 11. My MarinaPro solution displays normal at screen resolutions 1366 x 768, 1360 x 768, 1280 x 768 and 1024 x 768 when FMP 11 is running on a standard PC under Windows XP, doesn't matter the brand computer or LCD monitor. See attachments MP Normal 1.jpg and MP Normal 2.jpg. Note the zoom level is at 100%. However, when MarinaPro runs on a new Dell Vostro 3500 laptop running Windows 7 at the screen resolutions outlined above, the content area is altered at Zoom level 100%, and the screen content appears to be at about 125% to 150%! Has anyone integrated bluetooth barcode scanning with Filemaker and Filemaker go iPad? I need to be able to scan VIN's and other simple barcodes and have it fill in a field and remove the focus from the field (like hitting tab or touching the next field). We are having an issue with FM 6 and Office for MAC. Details: OSX 10.6.6 FM6.0 v1 When we are running FM alone everything is fine. As soon as we open MS office, either Word or Excel, Filemaker starts running really slow in accessing the database and become unusable. Any thoughts??
