When the FMSA ver10.0 starts running scheduled script, it always seems to be failing. The system log says "Scripting Error 100 (FileName) Perform Find" What it's doing in that script is, 1.Perform Find to search for "0" of the flag field in the table of the another file, which is related to the current table. 2.If there's any records found, it starts getting data from the table of the another file related, and change the flag field to "1" as finished. 3.It keeps doing above from the beginning record to the end. This is all I wanna do. If anyone knows how to solve, please help me.

Ok had server up and running and working fine but after the server was shut down I did ran disk utilities to fix permissions. now after a reboot Server will NOT start and any command lines will result in Error 9: Permission Denied I un installed - restarted - installed - restarted and got everything working again... and noticed a new update ( OS update ) so it seemed benign enough - well the same thing happened. Console will not start and CL gives the error - I can't remember which but one error it threw was 10006 The FM KB and TechNet has never offered a "REMEDY" thanks.

FM have issued a list of minimum and recommended specs for FM12 http://www.filemaker.co.uk/products/filemaker-server/server-12-specifications.html They show the recommended RAM and HDD space for each supported Operating System - my question is, does it make a difference which OS we use ? ie does it make any difference if we use Windows 7, or 2003 or 2008 ? Or 32 bit vs 64 bit ? FM just says they are all supported, but does not seem to say if one is better than another. Am I wrong in thinking that a server that is hosting databases that are larger or busier or have more users might run better on one OS vs another ? Or does it really not matter which …

Good morning. I have just had a client install FMS 12 on a new Server 2008 R2 server, and whilst I didn't witness the installation process, I was advised that it went fine. The problem I do have is that no icons were created so I am unable to run the FMS Admin tool. Can anybody please advise what icon I can create manually, or as no icon was created, what other problems I am likely to encounter? Thanks, Greg

I'm wondering whether anyone can help, I run a filemaker 8.0v4 advanced server on a G5 running 10.3.9, and the hard disk went pop. I thought I had all the disks to re-install the software, but I am missing the 'web publishing engine' installer (which was on a separate CD). I contacted filemaker and they were unable to supply the software, as it was obsolete. I was wondering whether anyone had access to this software? I have everything else running fine again, I just need can't install the WPE. Thank you in advance. Kieron

I've got a database where a client makes an XML call to the server using Insert From URL[]. It works fine on my FMS 12 Windows 2008 server, but it fails on my FMS 12 OSX 10.6.7 Server machine. Both servers have XML publishing turned on. Both Server versions are 12.0.2.232. WPE lights are green on both. The error I'm getting is an 802, but I can't figure out why. Permissions, script call, etc are all identical. Any thoughts?

Hi all, I'm having some trouble getting a server-side script to properly execute on FileMaker Server 12 on 10.6.8. I have a DSN setup on the server to an SQL database and the FM database works fine when run through FileMaker Pro on the server machine, the scripts run fine too, so this tells me that there is no driver issues when running via FileMaker Pro. However when FileMaker Server on the same machine runs the script, I receive an error in the logs at each of the import record script steps where it is trying to import data to the external sql source. I tried to search the forum but didn't see anything on this. Have the underlying problems in the DB engine been corrected? Is it necessary to recover files every few months with FMS12 to improve speed or deal with corrupted records? It appears there is still no provision for command line recovery or control. I've read through the specs and a few reviews but they did not seem to address these issues.

So I'm planning my next server "step-up" configuration and I want to do the recommended 1+0. If I put a FM file on everyone's desktop to open a served file, can I use a global text field to hold the ip string with the full string and file name? It should open the served file and then close. The only examples I have found are very old and they don't explain. I need to give someone the opener and all I know is the file name. I need someone on that end who knows nothing to finish 'pointing' it manually and saving the file to distribute to their other users or have the ability to explain and I do not know how. I purchased a new machine for FMS12 - 2 remote people could not access the file the other 4 could could. Installed FMS11 and plan to stay there. Seaver was on FMS10 working great. I want to make some changes to the database compact it - save as compacted - and cannot find the file anywhere on the server. I used the upload feature - file name was 4specs_db.fp7 and there was a 4specs_db2.fp7 in the normal database space. It is still there and not available to the server admin screen. Hello, I'm fairly new to this forum and to FMS in general but I've been working on the Training Series the past couple days and I've recently stumbled on a problem I'm unable to fix. After creating this simple system-level script to run on schedule (for cold backup) I am getting an error that states aborted by user and/or invalid command. My suspicion was that it had to with my system since I had an error opening FTS 12 several times and I had to reinstall it, but I am receiving the same error when I attempted to run it on PC (I'm currently working on a Mac). Cannot find a way to then email that file via SMTP from the server in a script step using a server-side schedule. After spending quite a few hours trying to get a brand new MacMini Server just upgraded to Mountain Lion Server to work with our new FMS12, I finally came across this article on the FM knowledge base which bluntly states that Apple's latest operating system will NOT work with its subsidiary's latest database server with respect to web publishing, PHP and several other features. I am using Macusa for hosting my data file created in Filemaker Pro Advanced. The file was uploaded okay, but the "find" does not work on the web. Hi there, We have an FMSA11 server running on Windows 2008 64 R2 in a datacenter ( HP Proliant Intel Quad Xeon / 4GB / 1TB Raid Disks ). We serve an IWP and Filemaker Go solution to education clients across the UK. Normal server loads are fairly light with around 10 - 30 concurrent users, all accessing the same database to upload images from filemaker go (current file size is around 800MB which is mostly pictures) and from IWP to view and evaluate the uploaded images and comments. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a fp7 database to fmp12, then to a stand alone run time and have it access the original database in fp7 format hosted on FMP 10 Server? We currently have FMP10 Server and about 20 machines with a standard FMP10 client installed. We've purchased FMP12 Server and a few client licenses but are trying to avoid upgrading ALL the clients if the run time solutions can be used to access either server. It's great I can run run system-level scripts through FMS. There is an option to include parameters, but I've never used that. How would a shell script access those parameters? A quick look at Unix scripting makes me think that if I pass parameters as... ABC 321 "blue dog" ...then I can reference those parameters as $0 $1 and $2. so: echo "i like the $2" would return i like the blue dog Is that the correct method for handling system-level script parameters? Hi. I'm finally moving up to getting the server12 up and running. The problem I currently have is getting to the admin console from my workstation. On my server 9 I go to the IP address with a :16000 after it and it works fine. When I try the server12 IP address with :16000 I just get connection problems. Any help on that?

Hi, When i install FMSA on a Lion server, and want to use SSL form apache. Wich folder does i need to make the website look for ? i tryed : /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing /Library/FileMaker Server/WebPuplishing/IWP/ Both return files not found / can't connect. Installation of FMSA was without any error's. Adminpage on 16000 is also working. I think i need to make a redirect to the part : fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html but to wich folder in de FileMaker Server folder. Running Mountian Lion 10.8.1, but Lion is also not working.

Occasionally SMTP mail fails on server for no known reason. To fix it, we send out a mail from an email client, it goes through and then server resumes sending out mail without errors. No settings are ever changed. At one point we thought that a certain character in the email body might be causing an issue but we have never been able to pinpoint what it is or if that is actually what is happening. HELP!!!!

Good afternoon. I've just purchased two high end HP servers with the intent of migrating from FM11, which ran on two ancient Windows 2003 servers, to these two and FM12 (server Advanced). I brought the servers (both obviously 64bit) online over this last weekend, installed FM12, and everything seemed good. Upgraded from FMSAdv11 yesterday to FMSAdv12, to try to relieve pressure on a Win2011server where my install of FMSAdv12 is a disaster. Things went a LITTLE better than most of the installs of ServerAdv12 that I've done to date, and IWP actually works in the 2003 install. There was nothing in that final listing to indicate anything failed, but when I tested CWP from the Tech Tests page it returned a "The page cannot be found" and a bunch of gibberish at the bottom. The plug in is web assistant by 360 works.. confirmed to work on fm server 12 Plug in is in the extensions folder Server has been restarted... I've had no success trying to get mySQL Connector 5.1.1 Community Edition to work with my installation of FMServerADV12. In Windows Server 2011 (64bit) the 64 bit connector will allow entry/configuration of DSNs, but as soon as s/o attempts to USE a database in which they're involved, the database server (only) crashes. In the same server, using a 32-bit connector also allows entry/configuration of DSNs, but in THAT case, we get the dreaded "Architecture Mismatch Error". While developing a new CWP solution, some of my pages have errors, like incorrect URLs. Whenever I call a page with an error, FM Web Publishing "freaks out" on my test machine running OSX Snow Leopard Server. Activity Monitor shows CPU activity in the 60-90% range. During this period, the web server serves pages very slowly, if at all. The database server shows high activity, too. FM Web Publishing eventually settles down to 0.1%, but it takes several minutes or more. Using the FMS Console to stop Web Publishing does not stop the activity. Hi, My team had been successfully accessing our database via FileMaker Pro and Go for a while from our office and from our home. Today a colleague of mine tried accessing the database from another wifi network outside of our office and homes but failed. Is there some way I can rectify this? Hi everyone, I've transferred across a database to my FileMaker Server which was previous being hosted by another company. Most users connecting via a custom php IWP login page uisng a sub-domain of my site. However some users, including me when I use my office PC, type in that URL and still get the old login page from when it was hosted with the other company. They simply cannot load the new database as its moved location. I have successfully changed the DNS settings on the subdomain and have contacted my hosting company (1&1) to verify this. Hi All - I have a scary issue at one of my clients. FileMaker Server 11.0.3.309 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit server with 32GB RAM. The problem is that FMS Admins Console will only allow me to set the Cache Flush distribution interval to 22:00. Any time I try to change it, it simply reverts back to 22:00. This is a scary thing as a LOT of data can entered in 22 hours and lost if it's not flushed to disk. The cache size was set to 500MB. I set it now to 40MB to minimize potential loss. Does anyone have any idea what I can do about this? Is reinstalling FMS my best bet?

I have a script sequence running in an FMS11 hosting environment. The script successfully finishes and logs its times. The server has now ghosts users with (?) logged into the DB and they cannot even disconnect them, the server has to be restarted to get rid of them. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks, Agi

Hey all, Diving deeper into FM than I have before and had a question or two about a database I am hosting. It's a simple word order / dispatch solution and I'm currently using a 30 day trial at triple8 dot net to host it. Tried to search a little for the answer, but am not even sure at this point what to search for. I have 5 layouts in my DB that are designed for use on an iPhone. Has anyone ran into this issue? I have a field that counts the # of records in a related portal of which I perform a "find" on. This has worked for over 3 years. Just last Friday, it stopped working. (I usually do a find, * in the field, and it will return the result. However, it is returning 0 records found which obviously is incorrect since there's a # in the field. I tried to recreate the field and relationship and it still returns 0 records. I made a copy of the database on my desktop and performed the same find and it worked as intended. Hi All, I'm running into a problem installing FMS12 web publishing on Windows 2008 R2 Standard. FMS12 is installed but without web publishing, I'm trying to add the web publishing by running the deployment wizard from the admin console. IIS7 is installed and running. Default web site is running, it has ID #1, I can see the IIS7 start page in my browser. Anonymous authentication is enabled, all other authentication is disabled. 1) Can a User activate a scheduled script? I read somewhere that Wim said we could use HTML but it was some twitter feed - there then gone and hours of research has not returned it to me. We are currently setting up with an offsite disaster reocovery backup service and I am having some trouble figuring out the best way to include our Filemaker database. First off I am well aware that the offsite backup should not touch the live database. It will obviously be setup to pull a backup copy. The offsite does incrimental backup so it only pulls data that has changed from day to day. Our database is 17 gigs and growing. So due to the cost I would like to be able to take advantage of the incrimental capabilities of the offsite backup and I only want to backup the latest database backup. Is it possible to have FM Server run a backup from a client script? This awesome thread seems to indicate that schedules can NOT be run on the Server from Pro (though scripts can). That would have been a nice solution. I'm wondering if there's another way to do it. I don't want to run a schedule every 5 minutes, checking a flag field, I need the backup to happen "on demand". I'd prefer a solution that was cross-platform or maybe two solutions one for Jobs and one for Gates. This is for FMSA 12 on OS X Server and FMS 12 on Windows 2008. Thanks, DJ

Just found this by Wim Decorte: What you have in mind won't work with just the native features of FM12: when you host a file, the path to its container data is always a subfolder of the folder where the FM file itself is. I've got FMSA11.02 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit machine. 8 gigs of RAM, which all is dedicated to the database cache. Everything appears to be running fine. When the database server isn't running, memory usage is at about 11%. When I first start the Database server and all files are opened, the system is using about 19% memory. As soon as a FMS scheduled backup starts, that's when all hell breaks loose. The memory usage jumps up to around 80%. Even after the backup completed, the usage stays constant at 80% or higher, which is what is bothering me. On FM Server 11, there was a issue with Java. We solved this issue but uninstalling and reinstalling Java. Now on a new version of 12, we updated Java and now we cannot get into the Server Start Page. Tried the same thing that worked for 11, but apparently there is more wrong. Anytime you double click on the Start Up it says "The shortcut for javaws.exe is missing, would you like to remove it?" I don't know if I want to or not. If you open the "Start Page" that is in the Start > All Programs > Filemaker Server 12, it gives our information and says that you need to install "Java 6 or newer." We are trying to improve the performance of our Filemaker WAN performance and have identified several ways we might do this. Namely, • move the interface file to an FM server at the remote site • faster hardware • the design of the db itself • upgrade the FM server software to v12 (currently v10) • invest in a faster WAN So that we can measure the effects of these changes, our developer has written a simple latency measurement script into our main DB. If a field is referenced in an unstored calc from another table is just that result sent down the pipe or is the whole record from that other table cached and then the result is parsed on the client side?

I just installed Filemaker server 12 on my Windows 7 ulimate OS computer. When the start page goes through its startup it stops with an error to update JAVA. I have uninstalled all JAVA, upgraded, rebooted and still have the same problem. I see there is a sticky about JAVA but it addresses Server 11. Does anyone have any idea? I cannot even see if I like the server yet I am having problems before I can even start it. Please advise. Thank you.

Any chance I can run an FMS script after a backup schedule runs? I know there's options to run FMS scripts and system scripts in conjunction, but not with a backup schedule. I could just schedule the script to run on the same interval as the backup plus one or two minutes, but that feels inelegant.

Okay from the top. My client has a WebServer (-A-) linked to a FM Dbase Server (-B-) (v8.5). A and B are standing in a less secure Zone. My client also has a second FM Server (-P-) (v11.3) standing in a highly protected zone with so many firewalls around it that you would be pushed not to easily trip over one. Now. Fm server 11 advanced I have a script that runs everyday to email an invoice to a customer, these invoices are located on the domain server. which is \\server2003\lan\ and is mapped as the F drive. when I run the script locally it works fine, when run by the server it does not include the attachment. In the first few hours after deployment of FM Server Advanced 12, IWP crashed abnormally six times and counting. The served database, accessed by dozens of users, has been working perfectly on FM Server Advanced 11 for months. This weekend we upgraded to 12 and this Monday morning it is HAVOC. The alerts say: "2012-07-23 09:58:43.343 -0400 Error 701 [company server name] Instant Web Publishing process has terminated abnormally." Hello Forum! simple question. Can my client run an Mac OS X Filemaker Server that stands in a Windows Network and authenticates Users against a Group on a Windows Domain Server (Active Directory)? The Group contains the users we want to give access to the Filemaker solution to. I do that already for several clients but they all have Windows FMS Servers where thats of course no problem. Can a Mac FMS Server also authenticate against a Windows Domain, even though a Mac isnt "in a windows domain" as such so to speak? Or do I have to tell the client to get a Windows FMS Server if he wants to do that. Thanks Spongebob

I am using Filemaker 11 with Filemaker Server 11. We have a mix of Windows 7 and Windows XP computers. For this situation it happens on Windows 7 computers. I have been having problems starting Filemaker . It shows the splash screen and at the bottom of the screen is usually flashes through all the fonts or items being loaded. Recently on my co=workers computers, it has been stopping at "AutoUPdate". It refuses to go further. after half hour still at Auto Update. I have to use Task Manager to end the process. I am having a problem accessing the admin tool on my servers. Hello all -- I have 1 external IP Address ... currently port 5003 is being forwarded to FMServer 11 (on 5003) and this works fine. I just set up a FMServer 12 on a different Server and I would like to make this visible to the outside as well. With my external router, I can easily map external port 5004 to the 5003 port to the FMServer 12. It seems that the FM Client has some issues with aiming at a different port (or at least the ways that I have tried... fmnet:/77.77.77.77:5004/sandbox.fp7 ). Any suggestions ? Another IWP problem... At various points some IWP users will enter their login information, but then only get a blank white web page as a result. No error messages, no 'Database Homepage' default page, nothing. Their names don't appear to show up in the Server client list even. This problem does not affect all users equally or at the same time. Sometimes some people get the error, while others at the exact same time do not. We are planning on using IWP extensively and was wondering if it's worth going to FM Server 12 Advanced, vs purchasing something cheaper like FM 11 Server Advanced or any other earlier versions. The idea would be to re-design the current database to be IWP friendly for internal and external use. Firstly apologies if this has already been covered (I'm sure it has but I'll be damned if I can find it!). What is the easiest and cleanest way of initiating a backup of a FileMaker Server based database from FileMaker Pro. I just want the user to be able to click a button on a layout which then backups the files, preferably without using plug-ins. I know I could do this through an event or vb script or bak file perhaps with a timer etc. but is there a cleaner way of initiating this through FileMaker Pro. Cheers in advance.

I'm not even sure where to ask this or how. Never had anything like this before. I put together a new workstation. FM 9 is installed like all the other ones. I go to open remote files. I get the host name, but no files to open. I didn't do anything different with this machine than the other ones. No messages, just doesn't do the usual file listing of files to open on the host. In our FileMaker 11 solution, I created a script to update totals in a table. Rather than have that script manually-invoked by a user, I decided to have the FileMaker Server Advanced run the script every 2 minutes. The script is not really complex: The script options on the server are a 1-minute time limit set to abort schedule if time limit is reached or the server is stopped. What is occurring at least one or more times throughout the day, is that the totals stop updating. Hi Our client has a firm policy that the system partition is backed up once a week in snapshot mode, and that C:Program File** is read only. FMSA 11 places its databases, scripts etc. under C:Program Files (x86)FileMakerFileMaker ServerData. To get the databases backed up daily, and to be compliant with windows server policies, we mounted the D: partitition under the path above. I'm looking for a good auditing solution for a filemaker 12 database. I was hoping to use something like FMDataGuard or CNS plus ins, but neither one of these seem to be developed for Filemaker 12 (Even though CNS claims they are). Lately we purchase a real server from HP with fast 15krpm HDDs (raid-5), dual CPU, plenty of memory, etc. The server is used as a virtual host using Hyper-V. Since about a week ago, we noticed that after a routine server restart that the previous radio button enabling External Authentication is now always disabled and must be re-enabled. Is there a plist or preference file that may be damaged, and if so, which file(s) should I yank (and where would they be located)? We have also been experiencing "communication was lost to the host…" errors, which affects all connected users, connected via the WAN from any location (Austin, Sacramento, VPN). Howdy, First, this solution works as a stand-alone file on my desktop. Yet, when I upload it to the server it does not. I have a container field that holds a PDF. I have a layout with the container field on it. When I open the layout FileMaker churns for 30+ seconds then comes back with a message in the container field "This program cannot display the webpage." I know the PDF is on the server because I can "export field contents" to a file on my desktop and view it. We have a very busy production server running FMSA9 on Windows Server 2003 (yeah, go tell it to our IT department) and twice this week users have lost the ability to acquire the server. What we see is this: Users with no files open on the server cannot see the server. Users with any file open on the server can see all the files on the server. For any external module to communicate with the File Maker database we have option on Web Publishing XML or PHP. Good morning everyone, I'm presently working on an application, in FMP, that keeps track of all databases on a said server. Right now im doing that prety much manually (Looking at my server GUI and writting name down) I was wondering if there's perhaps a hidden FMP server database somewhere where maybe an up-to-date list is being kept? Anyone have any ideas as to how to build a list of db's that reside on a server? I would much rather build a fancy script that i can just press once every 3-4 months that would just update my DB list with any NEW db's it finds. Thank you very much for helping me with this.

I have a script sequence setup where if the "system script before" the FileMaker script fails, it should cancel the script sequence. In my system script, upon error, I echo out a 1 thinking that this should stop the script sequence but it is not. When is succeeds, the script exits silently.
