Hi, Apparenlty there is a security issue with iFrame when the webview is used within WebDirect, Filemaker Pro no issues. I am building html code within a let statement to gets data from fields within the solution, there are no URLs. Is it because of the HTTP is not HTTPS ???

I have a script that goes to a layout and creates a set of records. It commits the records and returns to the original layout (same source table) to call a card window. However the card window inherits the parent window, and does not display the layout called for in the New Window script step. I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone! I have a main table Patients which contains their information and a related table Consults, which contains details of multiple consultations a patient had. Trying to make a layout that shows the consults for a given Date (DateFind) at certain clinic (ClinicFind). Hello I am experiencing a strange issue with the Inspector. It will not show field options, changing a field from edit box to Pop Up Menu for example. I am attaching a picture of what I see. I am working on FM 16.04 at the moment and the file is hosted on a server. I updated the server a couple of days ago to 16.04. I tried to connect with FM 17, still same result. I created a file locally, still same issue. I created a new user in Windows 7 and logged in to it with same issue again. What could be happening?

I'm working on a database for veterinary exams. During an exam, a set of measurements on an animal can be taken but not all possible measurements are recorded during each exam. Therefore, my current design has a parent table called 'Exams' and a child called 'Measurements' and they are related through the primary key of the 'Exams' table so that each measurement that is taken is recorded as a new record in the 'Measurements' table (with a label, e.g. 'right leg length', and a value, e.g. '50.5cm'). Hello all, I just started using FM17. It has been a long time, since FM11 that I have used FM. I am setting up a solution starting with FM Starting point. I created some value lists to use and all of them are fine but something strange keeps happening with one of them. I select the field, the options come up, I pick one, and I get this. "This operation could not be completed because the target is not part of a related table.". Filemaker does make the change when I select a new value from the list. How can I get this warning from a value list? Doesn't this error have to do with a script? I am not running a script that I can see. Thanks. Dave

Hi All, Lets say I have a customer tbl , a product tbl and a transaction tbl If customer 1 owns product 1, 2 and 3 and customer 2 owns product 4, 5 and 6 When in transaction layout which was opened by related customer 1, I want to select the products only related to customer 1. How would I setup my drop down box to only show product 1, 2 and 3 related to customer 1 and then when in customer 2, to only show products 4, 5 and 6. Can anybody please tell me how to export /transfer a dataset from filemaker repeating fields to tensorflow, thanks Roger Sorry I did not explain "Tensorflow" it is a machine learning program released by google. I believe a Tensor is a multi axis matrix i.e. >2 axis. It is run in python, Numpy is the target I believe but not sure what the format of the array is. There are several google presentations, but they tend to over simplify the work required then say awesome, cool or both.

I have come across something very strange: a website which is loading fast within FileMaker's Web Viewer on macOS and painfully slow in FileMaker's Web Viewer on Windows 10. Note that the website loads with adequate speed when called in Microsoft's Edge browser directly on Windows 10. It's only within FileMaker where a (very long) delay happens. Hi All, I have a portal on a layout to select a pert number related to my customer. so the drop down list displays from my products table. But I dont want to see all the products. I want to be able to select the chapter from the products list and then only the products related to the chapter must be displayed. please could you point me in the right direction to accomplish this. Hello, I have been using FMP for only two weeks, so please excuse my ignorance. I am using a trial version of FileMaker Pro 17 Advanced (17.0.2.205) on Windows 7 After accidentally deleting my primary layout, I successfully copied it from a backup. However, since then I have not been able to switch to table view. Both the button and the menu command are greyed out. Is there another step that I must do to be able to use the other views? I guess I could try to make a layout that mimics the table view, but I'd prefer to fix what I have broken. Thank you

Hello everyone! This site is awesome and I just joined it. I have a probably SIMPLE question. I just need a column in that keeps count of the records. Very simple, but I can't figure it out, or find the exact formula to use. Here is an example of the formula in the first column, "NO #". I just want to column to start at 1, and continue on at each record. I already have the records in the system, and just want to label them show when I print it out it looks nice like this. THANKS!

I want a layout with a fixed header for every page across the whole page, a leading sub-summary across the whole page, then another leading sub-summary and a body that each span two flowing columns, then a trailing sub-summary across the whole page. From what I can tell, FM can only do the flowing two column thing in all the layout parts except the header and footer, not specific to particular layout parts. Any chance 16 or 17 have that feature? (I'm in 14). If not, any ideas for a workaround? Any way to get the contents of the header and footer to vary like a sub-summary? Any other possible workarounds? Thanks,

This is a bit of a bizarre one which ate 90 minutes of my morning - so I thought I'd share it in case anyone else encounters it. One of our FileMaker use cases has an embedded web viewer displaying a Google Sheet (it's a runtime Kiosk app but the same issue applies to FMPro). This worked well and the users could update the spreadsheet (a rota). However this morning I noticed a strange bluey/grey overlay (see attachment). After quite a bit of digging it seems Adobe Flash is still installed in IE 11 and this was causing some form of issue. I disabled Flash in Group Policy (gpedit.msc) and the problem went away. Hi, I have a drop down in a portal, how do i filter the drop down box to only display the record relating the record in focus on the active layout where the portal is inserted? example: I have a customer selected in my customer layout, the customer has several products related to that customer. when I click on the drop down list in the portal, I only want to see the products for that specific customer. The drop down is in the warranty portal, products are saved in the product table with a reference to the customer. Please could you assist?

I have a FMP file that contains records that show eight metrics per entry (date, ethnicity, number of adults, children, etc.). This is data from a Food Bank, tracking types of food distributed, distribution dates, and family statistics for each distribution. I need to construct a yearly report that presents this data in Month by Month lines and sliced in several ways: Number of adults, children and seniors who did, or did not, make a scheduled pickup Breakout of the same data by Ethnicity Value of each pickup Etc. I'm using the FM Starter database "Estimates" and have heavily modified it (added fields, buttons etc...) to make it more usable for our Company. Hi under the scene list layout which displays in list view. I get it to sort via the characters but then also by their status. I wanted it to display somewhere on each record line it displays a record number. for example so I can see I have 2 that are the diva character and have been selected and 1 diva character that has been rejected so it puts a 1 on the line that is the first selected person, then a 2 on the next selected person or a total so when it has many people listed as each character I can see how many I have quickly without having to add it. I'm keeping track of tournament results for a backgammon club in which each player receives points for achievement in our monthly tournaments, leading to a season champion at the end of the year. So I have a PLAYERS table and an EVENTS table and then a join table in between, PERFORMANCE, that holds the results for a single player at a single tournament. My head is spinning trying to grasp the implication of creating and installing various menu sets. I have a pretty simple situation, with a 'Staff' menu set that severely restricts menu accesss in all layouts. I have the Staff menu defined to display when Get(AccountPrivilegeSetName) = "Staff". That seems to work okay. All other logins enjoy "Full Access" privileges and the standard Filemaker menu set, which is set as the default for the file. This is all working okay. I have a table that I want to use for preference settings and another I want to use as a 'Home' page. These should both be '1-record' layouts. Is there any simpler way of preventing record creation (and deletion) other than creating custom menus with the 'New Record' / Delete record commands turned off? I have a file that sometimes behaves oddly when I open it. After I log in, the window opens, then immediately minimizes down into my Apple dock but bounces right back and is fine. I'm creating a user log-in with minimal access to menus. I've created a custom menu based on the 'File' menu for some essential functions, adding a few commands like "New Window" that I want staffers to be able to use. I've created a Custom Menu Set called 'Staff' and have a script step setting it as the default menu set when a person logs in on an account with 'Staff' privileges. Everything seems to work okay with all that. EXCEPT . . . the 'TOOLS' menu shows up along with the File and Help menus. How come? I am implementing a Value List using "Values from a field" -- let's say its a list of jobs. I want the Values to be ordered in a specific, non-alphabetical order, but can't figure out how to do that. Hi i have 3 Tables Property , Units , Tenant. Each property has many units , Each unit has one tenant active but may have many inactive tenants from previous years. All working fine BUT..... i would need to show a table in the property layout of the units and each one only with its active tenant. The portal is based on the units table. However the tenant just show up the tenant that was first input to the unit. I was working on a layout I was using for a little "Card Window" I was trying to implement for printing up an ID badge, struggling to figure out how to make the window appear the perfect size without having any scrollbars along the bottom or side (is there any sort of "resize window to fit" layout script step I can use for that?) . . . I want to conditionally format the items (btns, fields) in the active row of the master portal. Thus my formula is : Get (ActivePortalRow) = Get (RecordNumber). This works ok, but when I click outside the portal, the formula no longer validates correctly. (however, in the Data Viewer, the Get(ActivePortalRow)=Get(RecordNumber). I am using FM17 on Windows 7 machine.

Hi Wondering whether this is one of Filemakers limitation and/or there are any ways round it. i have a portal which displays my related records to a customer . These records are split down to two sections (Two options) i had created a slider that on slide 1 it displays option 1 and on slide two option two. However the slider only seams to show up on the top portal row. i would appreciate if anyone could explain me if this is not possible or something was just set out wrong.

Good morning. I have a portal which has two fields displayed: a check box (a field with 0 or 1 in it), and a name. What I am trying to achieve is generate a FIND based on the names that are ticked in that portal but am not sure how. The portal may have - for example - 30 names in it, but I select 10 names from it (by ticking box against each name). I then want to extract(?) the names from that list to then do a FIND with as many New Request; Set Field [for_each_user_selected] commands as necessary. I'm not sure how to achieve this. Greets, all: I'm having a royal brain hernia trying to figure out how to create a conditional value list between two tables where there are multiple key fields. (Please refer to the attached.) In the JOB table there is a field, JOB::CAD_Type, which stores a handful of custom values for a value list: COMM, DIST, PROV, ST, and TERR. Hi all, I am sure this is a simple question for must of you, but for the life of me i have looked at different samples and cannot get it to work. I would like to create a new record from a popover. I started by creating a script with "New Record/Request" step. then i assigned the script to "OnObjectEnter" script trigger to the popover itself, the script does create the new record but the popover does not pop. What I am doing wrong. Yes, once i get this part to work i plan to add over actions e.g. what happens is "cancel" is press, or is the users closes the popover.

Hi there My database downloads a map (Google Map API), based on coordinates within the database records. I have the same field on another Layout (intended for printing) which is (currently) downloading the same map, every time. Unfortunately, it won't print. I'm guessing because the database itself is so large -around 1000 records- that it's trying to download the maps for every record prior to printing, locking the whole system up. So my query: as the coordinate data related to each record is quite static, is it at all possible to simply download the map Once, store it and reuse the stored map in another layout? Hoping someone can help! I've searched Google and the forums and haven't quite found the answer I need. In my mind it should be a simple one but it never seems to work out that way. lol. Hello, I don't think there is a solution to my problem because I have searched the internet without any luck but I figured I would ask anyway. I have an app that makes phone calls and processes our bill payments to different providers via an auto attendant. About 80% of the time it works great. The issue occurs if the providers changes the menu randomly. For example instead of "Press 1 to make a payment" it may say "We see you have a scheduled appointment. Would you like to check on that?". Since my script uses timers to determine when to press the keys, that throws off the timing and the user has to stop the script. Does anyone know of a plugin or a solution th…

I have tried all combinations of portal with/without scroll bars but cannot make scrolling happen when using finger swipes. It is possible to 'pin' down the scroll bar with a finger and then pull the scroll bar (same as a mouse) however cannot scroll when swiping up/down in the portal body. This has always worked in FM14 and FM15, but does not work in FM16. Any one else have the same experience, or fix? Thanks

I have a many-to-many relationship with a join table between two tables, X and Y with join table XY. While viewing a record in X I have a portal of all the join records in XY that are linked to X. I'd like to show a portal of Y of all the records not linked. I sort of have a solution. Hi guys. I am sure this is a simple solution but I don't seems to be able to figure out how to it. I have a scrip that I execute when the file is opened, on of the lines I have is "Adjust Windows [Maximize], and it works as expected. my issue comes in when I execute a script with the "new window" command. the new windows will open as expected but the main windows losses the "maximize" setting and I have to manually "maximize" it. what am I doing wrong. I discovered an issue, I use webviewer for reporting a summary table and emailed to the manager every week, I scheduled the script that creates the report and I realized that the webviewer content doesn't render when printing by PDF. the pdf on the top was printed on the server and the pdf below on a client. I have a layout in List view where each line represents a LOCATION. Picture the location being a numerical sequence of slots in a number of drawers. The Locations are related in a 1-to-1 relationship with ITEMS. Each Item occupies a single location. Over on the ITEMS layout, the user can create a new item and assign it to the next slot in the LOCATIONS sequence. All good. Occasionally an ITEM is discarded, and its record is deleted from the database. This results in an empty slot in the midst of the Locations sequence. I am involved in the production of figures and tables for an eBook that is to be translated into a number of languages. I'd like to create a database of the images (about 20) with fields over the various text blocks in each image into which the translator can type their language version (around 15 per image). Each image is different, as is each text block. Hello all, I'm having a devil of a time getting a set of merge-field text to hide. The text is from a Summary field, which I want to hide if the value is 0. I have it in the Sub-Summary part, and everything else is sorting and displaying correctly, but I can't figure out how to correctly get this object to hide. Hello all. I have a dilemma. I am trying to submit payroll information to our accountant who then submits payroll to an HR service to process pay checks. I can export all of the information from our time keeping program into filemaker no problem. Then I can create a report of needed date ranges. The problem is that the accountant needs the information separated by weeks so they know if an employee has worked overtime or not but the pay period is semi monthly. Which means I have to send everything from the first to the fifteenth for example. The first day of the pay period and the last day of the pay period will almost always be mid week. I love the new pre-existing self-join portal option for displaying a portal that is reflective of the current found set and navs to the record clicked in the portal on the currently layout. I was hoping to add some functionality on top of this by buttonizing the fields displayed in the portal so that if a Shift modifier key was pressed when clicking, the clicked record would open in a new window to allow side-by-side comparision of the current record and the newly opened one. I have a window, DPD, based on a table in a file, Sales Items. I am surprised that a GTTR going to a different layout in the same database takes me to the DPD window and not the parent db window. I assume this is intended behaviour? Does this mean that I have to replace all GTTRs in that database with a script that includes a 'Select Window' script step?

Hi, I would like to know if it´s possible to create memory tables within Filemaker and how. I saw in a different RAD tool the option to create memory tables. The table is kept meanwhile the program is open and dismissed after is closed. I see this as a powerful tool for complex reports and to speed processes. Maybe there is an ODBC or JDBC driver for memory tables, Server side or client side.

I have a small database and in a portal I have data from a related table. I have tried many ways to dynamically sort the portal column (customer_name) by having the field name passed along to a global field (g_sort) via set field script (get Script Parameter) and then a calculation of getfield("g_sort") by to pass the field name to the Portal Sorting engine. All seems to work up to the getfield("g_sort") is not passed to the portal sorting. the portal is set up to sort via the result of the getfield("g_sort") calculation, unstored and text result, and then refreshed via the script.. I have a solution with two, side-by-side, scrolling text fields. One contains captured content. The other contains notes on the content. I need to jump from one to the other as I make notes. But when I activate the notes field, the content field jumps back to the top. I need for the scroll position of the content field to stay where I left it, so that I can resume where I left off when I return to the field. Is this possible?

I have a portal (linked to "Items") that the user can populate with multiple items (records) at once from another table on a layout linked to the TO of "Order". Each group is assigned a header which appears in the row above the items. For example, Apple, banana, pear might fall under the header "Fruit". I have a list of things that I sell. The list is in the Body. Above the Body is a sub-summary by item category. Everything in the body is set to not print. I grouped everything in the body. Sliding is based on 'all above' (house this doesn't make a difference); and I checked resize the enclosing Part. Below the Body is another Sub-summary by Item Number (this pulls in the Item descriptions). Then, I sort Item Category, and then Item Code. Hello! I have come across a very unique situation. We are hosting a multi-user solution with about 50 concurrent users on FMS16 with all clients using FMP16; everything is updated and patched. I have one client that is having issues with drop-down fields on 2 different layouts, each different fields. The user can not click into one of the drop-down fields on either layout to make any changes to that field but can edit any other field or dropdown on the layout. The main toolbar with the arrows for navigating from record to record, find, etc. disappears. I removed the toolbar from a few windows that are controlled by buttons - to add related records, but the main window should have the toolbar. I have to recover the file to get them back and when I close the file they disappear again. I can't figure out how to fix this. - Under "File Options" - Hide all toolbars is NOT checked. - I have no custom menus - the only menu set is Standard FileMaker Menus Where else can I look to fix this setting? A year ago, I used the Web Viewer to create what I affectionately refer to as a Facebook stalking page, so we can better recognize people who have attended our conference. I have a field that contains a "percentage". I get data from several outside sources to populate this field. The rub is I need to format this field to read correctly as a percentage example 55% or 100%. The data come from outside sources as follow 100, 100%, 100.00 or sometime 1. Hi, kind of new to FM and working on a task thing. What i have is the users are in the fm user setup and displayed on a a uer management page, i also have a create task, on the create task i have a box showing the users and i tick the ones i want involved in that task. At the moment when you open the layout for task list it shows all the tasks, what i want is that the only tasks users can see is the ones their user is setup to be involved in. I have a portal that has about 100 'names' in it. This list is longer than the portal is 'tall' so the user must scroll down to find a name. After the user scolls down to find 'Smith' and clicks it, the portal 'scroll elevator' jumps back to the top. I would like the portal 'elevator' to stay showing 'Smith' I have set "Reset scroll bar when exiting porgram" OFF but it doesn't help. Thanks for your thoughts. Ron

(I'm sure this has been covered before but nothing came up in my search criteria) I have a Year (number) field in a portal where I want to force the entry/recording of four-digit years but no matter what validation criteria I set for in the field definition, it won't fault to produce a validation error message if a non-four-digit number is entered, even with a script trigger using a Commit Record script step. I'm working on a database that included 5 tasks that will be checked and initialed by the worker that competes them. We want them to choose their initials from a drop down list. For each of the 5 tasks, there needs to be a drop down list with a list of initials to choose from. I want to keep the list of initials consistent without having to add/delete 5 times every time there is employee turnover. Hello, everyone. I’ve added a Serial Number field to my database, and set the auto-entry properties to On Creation. I’ve noticed that the serial number appears only in records I’ve created AFTER creating this field. Is it possible to have serial numbers for the records I created PRIOR to establishing the Serial Number field? If so, what is the procedure, please? Also, is it possible to reset the serial numbers so that they begin with the first record entered? Doing a "reset" is not critical for the purposes of my database; I’m just curious if that can be done. Thank you! PT

I have the following portal on FM16 on my MacBook, which to all intents and purposes looks fine with regard to field size, alignment including borders etc. But when I look at the same portal in FMGO, you can see that things don't look quite so neat with regard to the click button and the first two fields. Everything looks ok in inspector with regard to field sizing and positioning etc. Just wondering if there's an easy way to square all this up so the appearance is consistent on both platforms. Is it trial and error, I have had some success with other fields in sending them to the back and front etc but I'm struggling with these last three.

Hi, I have a question and was wondering if its possible. I have some desktops with FM14 and some with FM16 Ive just had my yearly bill and its going to cost a bit to upgrade all to 16. I love the new card feature as it makes data entry really easy and it stops people pressing a lot of the wrong buttons. The trouble is 14 doesnt support card it just opens another layout window? Hi Folks, I've just moved my database to a server. It works fine, but it's slower and a couple of the scripts now take enough time that I could do with putting up a wait / progress bar. The issue is that the scripts dive into other layouts to create records in other tables. Am I right in thinking that I can't use a Card Window and then change layout behind it? (I haven't actually used Card Windows before...) I suspect that this isn't an unusual thing to do - what are the standard tricks? Many thanks all! Best wishes, Mike
