Hello, This is a question I'm not sure where to ask on this forum, and I'm unsure of how to approach the issue, being fairly new to FileMaker. I have a table of Contacts and some of those contacts need to visit our office every few weeks on a specific day at a specific time. Say we have 200 Contacts and 5 need to visit us at 9-10 on Monday of Week 1, 5 at 10-11, 5 at 11-12, and the same for Tuesday etc. They will repeat this same appointment after all the appointments have been looped through... On the layout for each contact I want to give an option to set both the Week, the Day, and the Time they will visit. I want the available weeks, days, and times to …

Hey guys, Im devoloping a FM solution for my work to turn our receiving inspections from paper records into digital format. I have made progress but I have come across an issue of how I can create inspection check boxes based on a given sample size for multiple line inspections. My first post on FM Forums so be gentle and don't flame... I'm desperate to ditch MS Access and a virtualised window on a Mac. I've created a new DB from data exported from Access - that's all good. I've got lookup working and summary fields working. I can also generate month and year fields via a calculation from a date field. But for the life of me, I cannot get the report to group *all* records from a given month in one block, no matter what I try. Instead, the report insists on grouping by day. Hello everyone, I'm storing some videos in a portal in record A. If I'd like to have access to a video already stored in record A from another record, is there a way to reference that record A video in that other record portal. The idea is to avoid duplication and, at the same time, having a copy of the video in my solution, as opposed to storing it on my computer hard drive. Thanks.

Good morning, I have written a(/n? lol) FM solution for a client where I need to display a dashboard - a regularly updated screen of the status of all things within. I am looking to find a good solution on the best way to display this file on a large television. I know that I could setup a dedicated PC (NUC, laptop, or otherwise) connect to the television via HDMI and have FMP autologin so that when the computer is powered up it goes straight to the dashboard, but thought there may be a smarter (cheaper and smaller) way to achieve the same thing. I have just bought an HP printer. Everything works fine with the printer, colour works fine with coloured logos etc in Filemaker. However when I print a page with a container field with a picture in it the picture prints in B & W when it should be coloured. Any help appreciated.

I have a layout allowing the user to add custom categories to a drop down menu on another layout since these will change. A name plus active or inactive checkboxes. THE PLAN When the user interacts with the drop down menu the inactive names do not appear only active names. The idea is to also retain the record when the name becomes inactive in the future. Example Bob is active in May and available as a choice, but retires in June so no longer active so no longer available as choice, but if I look up that May record I still want to see Bob' name. Inactive and active checkboxes must act in concert and only one can be checked at any given time.

Hi Group Im not sure if im in the right place to post this but here it goes: I have a database with a container field for a photo and it works great but i would like to take multiple photos and have them show as thumbnails in the database file in what i assume to be a portal? and then a main photo container field in the database window will show the currently selected thumbnail in the portal. and i am assuming when taking photo's via an ipad i will select the container field take the picture and it will add it to the portal too. my thought is that i need another database linked to the main database to hold all the photos in and then the main container fi…

I have a PDF that I cannot view in a container field. Interactive Content is checked. I assume the PDF file is valid because if I'm in Layout Mode with Sample Data on, the image shows in the container field. But, once I go to Browse mode, it doesn't show. Hello everybody, Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the portal height independently from the row height? This is the case: I have portal rows of 1100px high, but would like the portal itself to be 750px. I know I ones managed to do this, but now I cannot figure it out anymore. I'm testing the interactive content container and am finding that the video autoplay is unreliable (in my trials at least). I've checked 'Start playback automatically' in inspector but its hit and miss whether it works or not, but mostly not. Any ideas? Is there also a keyboard shortcut to run a video as spacebar doesn't work? I'm using FMPro 15.

I am a newbee. I installed the inventory platform to place my household inventory should I ever have a homeowners fire insurance claim. I have a field called "Location" where it produces a dropdown where one of the items is called "Office." See photo attached. I retired and have no further need of an office and would like change its name to "Hobby Room." I tried going into Fields>File>Manage Database and Manage Fields both in the regular and edit fields without success. See photo. I appreciate the help and thank you in advance.

I'm trying to add a popover onto a popover on an iOS layout. On the original popover, the user has buttons they can choose from. Some users, especially new ones, may need an explanation as to what a button does. I want to avoid clutter for experienced users, so instead of providing an explanation directly on the original popover, I want to add a "?" button that opens a 2nd a popover that provides an explanation. The 2nd popover that I have added onto the original one does not open, but does open when I move it off of the popover. Is it just not possible to do this? If so, does anyone have a better idea? Hi there, I'm a FM beginner and would like to know how I can show a searchable dropdown. When I create a product, I need to select a supplier from a large list. I would like to tyoe some characters, from where I find a value in the dropdown. As far as I see now, that isn't possible and the only way to do this is through a popover. But my question is then, how to show a full table in the popover, from which I can select a value, which is filled in my form.

ok i have a problem...I am trying to create a portal and i have done this many times woth out problems but now what is happening is the fields appear to be behind the portal and hance are not showing in browse mode. When I save to .pdf the default setting in the Save box is "Records Being Browsed". This is very awkward for me as I discovered I almost sent my entire library of invoices to someone. Is there any way of setting the default in this field to "Current Record" so I won't make this mistake in the future?

Hi everyone I have my database with 40 000 links, i extracting data very simple. I m using MBS mostly. When I open FileMaker fresh I have 5go of memory free, then slowly slowly after 1000 records I have only 500mo left and more it goes less it works properly (miss fields, unresponding) So I have to quite filemaker then open the database again to reset the memory. So sometimes person A is the main person in a record and ‘’another’’ person in a different record. I have a portal that displays all the records. How do I set a field with a value list item from a script, from a set of tick box values? .. or remove a value list item, but leave whatever else is there alone? Looks like GetValue with the name of the value list and the position # of the value, but I'm sure that also means that if I change that value list, I need to change any scripts that reference them by position # too.. Something like detecting if a string is already there, and if not add it, surrounded by C/Rs, unless it's the first item entry? Hi, I have a customer who has a storage facility. He has a layout called "Site" ( attached ) it is a single record table. On the layout the customer laid in 132 fields ( each field representing a unit number that he's entered in the unit number ) on the layout. Similar site maps that provides a bird eye view of facilities. Hi all I'm trying to integrate draw.io in to my solution via the web viewer. I have much to learn as I have new to javascript. I have managed to get it to execute a filemaker script though. My first real issue is that it does not seem to work fully in the webviewer. I've downloaded these files https://github.com/jgraph/drawio-integration I can open localfile.html in my usual browser and it works fine. However within FileMaker's web viewer it does open (the url is "data:text/html," & [global field containing source code of localfile.html]), but functionality is limited. One of my Covid-lockdown projects is adding some inventory control to our Filemaker solution. We started with this some time ago, and most of our rental items have got barcoded ID tags. The management of that has lagged somewhat behind. We have wireless barcode scanners, and one of the tasks I have in mind is verifying that items listed in the database exist in real life. I am not sure if this topic belongs here or not. I have field that I'm attempting to define conditional formatting for, and I am unable to scroll down to the table occurrence with the field I need. The bottom choice of the list is ZREP_UHLP_TH_TenantHistory, and zrep_uhpd_TAH_TenantAgreementsHistory is the one I need. There are at least a dozen others after ZREP_UHLP_TH_TenantHistory. I do not know many Table Occurrences for the 36 Tables I have. I have attached a screenshot of the Table Occurrences. Have I run into a limit of displayable choices? If so, is this solved with the 64-bit version of Filemaker? Thank you for any help.

Hi All, While in browse mode is there a way to detect if the active window (my layout) has visible scroll bars ? After using the "Adjust Window - size to fit" script step... I have a layout that is a list of items, depending on the number of records, this is likely to extend beyond the bottom of the layout window. If that happens FM (or the computer OS) will show a vertical scroll bar - that bar will "eat up" layout space and force a bottom scroll bar because of the 16 px of the scroll bar. Hi all I have a customer list in a drop down. The drop down field has an On Save script trigger which then performs a find in the same layout for the selected customer. The drop down field is configured to 'go to next object using' return. There is also an On Record Load trigger on the layout which pops up with a dialog if the customer's Attention field is populated. This all works fine unless I utilise the option to save the drop down field with the enter button. It ends up looking like this, with the white background. Once the user clicks OK the layout 'appears'. Thanks!

Hi All, Need help with a basic button bar to navigate between layouts : 3 buttons, single step is Go To Layout A or B or C. The navigation to each layout is OK. What I can't figure out is why the blue wording is the button bar does not always stay highlighted. When I return to the layout (after having closed a card window) I include a Refresh Window step and that seems to help for that specific issue. I would love your advice on a better method to make sure the layout that I am in stays highlighted in the button bar. Thanks

Evening all I am creating a multiple choice test solution with three possible answers. I have an "Answers" table joined to my "Question" table via a QuestionID field. The answer selection to each question is presented in a portal. Currently I have set up a radio button for the user to select their answer ("selection"), however currently I'm stuck trying to figure out how to only permit one answer choice for each question. Right now I can select all three answers by clicking each radio button in each row. Is there a way to make FileMaker only permit one radio selection in a group of related records (the answers)?

It's me again. This time my question is centered around how to reference a summary value from table A in a calculation in table B. The end goal is to calculate a running average of seconds per plant in the 'TrackingData' table by dividing time in seconds 's_Cumultaive Seconds' by 's_Cumulative PlantCount' from the 'Shipping Volume' table. After doing a bit of research I know that it's not possible to use the values of a summary field from table A in table B. I've got another question about subsummary parts and how to ensure that they present data for reports as expected. My layout is based on the most atomic table for the data to be displayed, but I'm having some trouble getting sub-summaries to be grouped by month. I'm not sure how to exactly to describe this, but ever since FileMaker Plus ... it seems that anything I've ever down has some form of things changing visually when areas of the layout are clicked, or in use. Here's my layout "normally". The tickbox fields are translucent, the portal rows are alternating color on the left and plain white on the right. Hi, I've been having this issue for a ling time and thought that maybe today is the day to troubleshoot it and fix it!. I love drop downs for filling out forms. But a while back my drops disappear quickly and I have to click escape to get them to come back. Then when stepping down a list, it will disappear again. Very slow and frustrating? I keep thinking that an update will fix it but it hasn't through 3-4 upgrades. Maybe a preference is corrupted? Where would I find the correct one to delete? Thaks for any/all suggestions Peter

I have no idea if some of these wants are even possible. I have a plants database that includes a Variety table, a Location table, whose records each consist of an image (map) of one of my gardens, and a Plantings table whose records consist of a Variety key, a Location key, and other information about the planting. I'd like to generate a report based on data in a table, but the issue I'm running into is that I don't necessarily want to see any detail records. Gents, when printing a contract I have a font size issue. I have two layouts: CONTRACTS and P1 (used for printing). CONTRACTS layout has text fields with font size 16. P1 layout is based on pasted contract text and merge fields. The font size there is 9. In the printed contract almost all mergedfields are 9 font size (as I need), but some of the field are size 16. Those size 16 fields were copy-pasted into CONTRACTS layout from outside. To make a contract look OK, I need to decrease the font size to 9. I have a database for our homeowner's association with lots of information that works very well, but have run into a problem when trying to print a directory of members. Most of the directory information is in the MAIN table; however, there is a second CHILD table with an occurrence for each child that resides at the address listed in MAIN. There is a sub-summary section when sorted by address, where I print all of the information listed in MAIN, and then I list the CHILD information in the body. How do I update an active portal row number "Get(activeportalrownumber)" when I delete a row in any portal?. When I delete any portal rows that are in the middle of the portal, I cannot get the portal row number to update,change or refresh.. FM stores value list options as they are whole. A web form supports showing the label and storing an associated value. Can the same behavior be easily duplicated in FM? This is in cases where you're working with data that uses simple stand ins rather than the entire string. stored value -- Means: a (All Options) b (Beta Release) c (Complete Image) tr (Translated) I could do a focused find/replace with that CSV data and change those values into their full descriptions, which means any data going back the other way needs to be exported with the values rather than descriptions first.

When adding a "button setup" to a text label, how can one control the different states (pressed, hover) styling. FMP creates a group item that includes the text label, but there is no 'button' item to modify, just the 'group' item which has no states. I have a feeling this is going to end up being a forehead-slapper when someone helps me figure it out, but in the course of editing one of the Claris-supplied templates while trying to learn how to use a plugin, I'm running into a weird interface behavior. I am attempting to do an app structure where I have an admin page so users can add custom settings. The idea is pretty simple from the main app window have an admin button which activates > an admin modal which in turn has a button that takes > you to a settings window. User makes changes and close settings window and back > to admin modal. So far all I have accomplished is opening and closing an admin modal, unable to get to the next step of navigating to a window than back to modal.

I am using the following calculation to center card window on screen. Move/Resize Window [Current Window; Top: 60; Left: Get(ScreenWidth)/2-Get(WindowWidth)/2]. Unfortunately my card window winds up far right on my screen, which should not be possible with the Get(ScreenWidth) function. I am using a Mac running Filemaker 18 Pro.

I'm working with a massive database with multiple users working together to add, edit, remove records etc. Periodically a record will be accidentally duplicated by hitting command-d--a miss-click of command-f. This causes a lot of problems if it goes unnoticed. Is there a way to disable this?

I'm trying to import SVG icons from FontAwesome for use as button bar icons in FileMaker, but I can't get them to work. I'm using FM 16 Advanced. I design application UIs in programs like Sketch & Figma. When they get built in FileMaker, the fonts look terrible. Here's an example of Georgia Regular 24pt. attached as a screen shot. It's a bit easier to see if you actually open the attached image...The FileMaker font is in the middle. Notice how much heavier the characters are. They look so blunt compared to the same font in other programs. Does FileMaker use some antiquated rendering engine or something? I'm sure someone in the FM community must know something about fonts... Thanks.

I can't get this function to work, it returns empty even thought I have a web page loaded in the webviewer: GetLayoutObjectAttribute ("webviewer"; "source") According to FMA18 documentation I should be getting the URL of the webpage in "webviewer" but I don't. The client machine runs FMA18 on MacOS Catalina, the file is hosted in FMS 17, MacOS Catalina. Am I missing something?

Hi, I'm integrating full calendar into a solution and I'm using what Matt did with the fullcalendar.io ( ISO Magazine ) in FileMaker's web viewer. I've attached the entire HTML and a section of the HTML where I am trying to dynamically set the calendar in "Week" and in "Day" view to scroll the calendar to the current hour. Currently I've hard code into the html '07:00:00' which is ok, but would be great if I could dynamically set to current hour when the user clicking into "Week" or "Day". Hello! I have a file where one of the features is to create (or import) spot cues. I have up to four spots in the file that can be recorded, and all are on separate tables. I would like to be able to have all of them shown on one layout as well so I can see all my spot cues at once. obviously I figured out how to do that individually, but now I want more. Recap, the four spots cue records have to be on their own table so their records don't mix together. Hi all Just wondering if anyone's ever experienced this odd problem. When I restore the window of our main Clients layout (which upon startup is maximised), its size is that of another layout (Case list), which loads on startup, and is only ever shown in its own floating document window. I then load up an offline backup, and then restore, resize to a reasonable size, go in to layout mode, perform a small change and then save. This fixes the issue for that session. However when I load up this 'fixed' backup file locally again, instead of starting maximised, it now loads up in the restored size of the Case list, regardless of which layout. Hello, I have a simple leaflet.js map which is working completely offline. All the references in the HTML5 code are absolute and refer to local files.(javascript, css, tiles). I noticed - and was really surprised - that I was able to copy the HTML5 code into a global field and run it a web viewer (FM 18, Windows 10, Chrome browser). (Up to now, I thought that all external references should be included in an HTML calculation.) When I tested the same file on my Mac (and changed of course all the paths to the new paths on the mac) I couldn't get it to work. It seems that MacOS isn't able to do so. MAC OS Catalina... from "Color Other" > OS Color Picker, I set an objects color using the sRGB Profile to 240, 240, 245. Then when I exit and return to the objects color mix, it is shifted to 243, 243, 247. This color is just one example, happens on all colors, even if I set a swatch to my mix. Any knowledge on how I can avoid this color mix shift? I've been trying to finalize my colors and styles, but this very annoying issue is keeping me from doing so, as colors between objects, layouts etc. are noticeably off and are not consistent. Hi all, something I discovered out of the blue - I often use a contact field in a related table and have two fields on top of one another. I enter into the lower field which gives me a popup list of related contacts, but I really only enter an ID which isn't shown in the value list. Upon exiting, the upper field (which you can't enter) is populated with the name of the contact. Now I found this: I only have one field which is the ID using the same value list, but is formatted as a popup menu and it works exactly the same way. No more aligning two fields. Is it possible to achieve an unbroken border (manual border and not field border) across the header, sub summary, body and footer irrespective of the number of records on display (see attached)? I can only achieve an unbroken border when there are four records on display. Each part has it's own border, that had to be slighlty longer than the part in order for the line to be unbroken. Hi there. I am using slide panels and very occasionally I find that when I place a field or object on one of the panels that it appears on all of them - not just the single panel. I have checked that the object does not exceed the edge of the panel, and as many attributes of both panel and object that I can, but not found the problem. I usually fluke the fix. Is anybody able to tell me please what conditions cause an object to display on all panels rather than just one? Thank you. Greg

I have a field on a layout that I have configured to display the Last names of personnel in my "Personnel" table. I'd like to find a way to make the dropdown menu only display personnel in a certain department. The Personnel table has a Department field already. Howdy. I'm new to the Forums (and fairly new to Filemaker) and I have started putting helpful tooltips on a lot of my buttons. The user guide online states that tooltips wrap at a certain point, but I was wondering if it was possible to put in a manual return/line break into the tooltip to make it have multiple lines. It doesn't make sense to have a super wide tooltip if it can be condensed down to a smaller horizontal tooltip that is a bit taller. Anyone know if this is possible similar to an HTML <br> tag or a

Hi all My webviewer displays a list of messages from a related table. The structure is basically as follows: Webviewer source: "<html><body>" & list (messages::html_web) "</body></html>" html_web field [stored calculation]: From & " sent message at " & Creation_Timestamp & ":<br>" & Body Is there a simpler way of doing this? It seems to be it would be better to have the webviewer do all the calculations, and get rid of the html_web field. This would speed up any development changes and free up some space. Would JSON be the way to go? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is there a way to capture the position of a window so that I can do a script that will snap it back to its original position when a user moves it? Hi folks, I'm playing with an idea to create a global navigation popover button, that uses the Web Viewer to point at our WebDirect homepage. I've got this much working, however when I click the tiles, I want it to spawn a new database/browser window. Unfortunately it just opens the other database within this tiny Web Viewer I want to do this for navigation consistency, aligning with other (less malleable) web products within our intranet. Hi I am using FM Quickstart V17 and have been adjusting the invoice part to work for invoicing rates of things rather then a product. I want it so I can add a date to the added rate ( in the invoice tab), when you click on add rate you can select a rate. but what I need to be able to do is assign a date to that rate so they know what days worked. I tried adding in a date field and that didn't work, then I tried adjusting the SKU that was already there into a drop down calender, but as soon as you adjust and select a date, the whole row disappears. I have a portal with the alternate row colors turned on. There is a field in the rows that is overlayed on top of another one. So as to not mess up the appearance, the upper field needs a fill. But this looks ugly in every other portal row. Is there a way to format this, depending on whether it's an odd or even row? Hello, An SVG newbie here. I would like to use animated SVG icons, but I am having trouble using them. From what I can tell, they can only be imported onto a button - not directly on a layout - and whilst it displays on the button, it does not animate. On that point, is it possible to place it on a layout through the likes of a web viewer perhaps? I'm on a Mac (OS is High Sierra 10.13.6) running FMPA 18.0.3 and wondering if this platform may be the issue. I've seen mention about IE and Edge being a problem, but not Mac. I've not found anything through Google on how these are used in Filemaker. Can I get a hand please? Greg

I'm initializing a Web Viewer with a data URL, to display a Summernote text editor. This is working perfectly on my local FileMaker 17.0.7.700, running on macOS Mojave 10.14.6. When I try the same on a remote machine running FileMaker 17.0.7.700, and macOS Sierra 10.12.6, Summernote fails to initialize.
