I am trying to remove the vertical scroll bar from a Web Viewer. I am aware that unchecking 'Allow interaction with web viewer content' will allow this, but I require that on. I've added this to the webviewer <body style = 'border: 0 ; margin: 0'>, which makes it look better, but I can't find the info to remove the vertical scroll. I tried overflow: hidden, but that seems to only work if the content is larger than the web viewer window.

I am a new filemaker user and have already checked several dynamic/conditional value list threads in this forum. However, I couldn't find the solution for my problem. Let's say I have 1000 values in the drop down list. What's the easier way to select from such drop down list? I know I can move the selection by typing some beginning letters of the values but that's not that user friendly. I may not remember the beginning letters and might remember the middle letters. Hi, Any assistance here I would be grateful ... I can not get my formatting bar to "Un-Gray" itself when my users log in and the custom menu loads. I've set my "Formatting Bar ( ON )" in my script ?? And when I'm logged in as "Full Access" I have no problems ?? The formatting bar is available clicking into the field. I've attached my customer menu, where I've even added the "Formatting Bar" but all it does is "Hides and Un-Hides" ... but the "Formatting Bar" remains grayed out, unavailable. I can not allow full access with users and I must have access to the "Formatting Bar" ?? when my custom menu set loads. What is going on ?? Thank you.

Ok probably like a lot of folks that post here, I'm a beginner... I am having some issues exporting to xlsx files in relation to my value lists. Basically, I have foreign keys going in to text-fields, using the pop up menu for translation. However, when I go to run exports, the pop-up menus don't override the foreign keys. At this point I'm sort of at a loss, as I've come up with very little on the Google machine, in regards to this type of situation. I have searched the forums, but haven't found an answer to this. I have a file with two tables, received and shipped. Have successfully created a report by month with total received and total shipped and the difference between the two. What I would like to do and cannot figure out is to have another field which keeps a running Balance on Hand as illustrated below. Good evening, In the table that I'm displaying data from I have a field "Salesperson" that is auto-populated when a record is created by the username of the user adding the record using "Get ( UserName )". I'd like to filter the records shown in the portal by that field based on the user that is currently logged in. In other words, when Joe Guy is logged in, he will only see the records he created in the portal. I'd also like to filter the portal by another field which has values like Won, Lost, Pending, etc.. I have to create many layouts in our main database using formatted static text mixed with merge fields. Attached is an example of what three sections of this text might look like. The dollar amounts are merge fields which display data that is calculated based on selections made elsewhere within each record. I use merge fields to make the surrounding text move based on how many characters are in the merge field data. A DBMS that we're working on deals with routing trucks. In the body of the report each record represents a stop for a truck. There is a calculation field there that returns the number of packages to be offloaded on that stop. The body part is followed by two sub summaries. The first summarizes by route and a summary field positioned there returns the number of packages that will be put off that truck on all of the stops on the route. Hello, I am not a developer so excuse me for asking something that might seem simple. I manage a filemaker database for a fire department. There are many tables but the ones I am referring to are "Incident Reports" and "Pre Plans" Chiefs or firefighters enter the address of an incident into a new record in "Incident Reports". I am so frustrated after two solid days of working on this really simple join table example. I am trying to create a little iphone application in which I can quickly track my homeless outreach contacts on the fly. I have been so frustrated. I made a lot of progress at one point by just deleting the portal and starting over. I attached two databases, test which works just the way it is supposed to. I am trying to apply padding to a checkbox field so the slightly rounded border isn't touching the checkbox elements. Â I used FMP 12 Format/Layout/Line Spacing and put in 10 points on the left, to see if I could notice some padding effect. No luck. Am I missing something obvious? I have a web page that I want to display in a web viewer. It uses an HTML5 Canvas and Javascript to display a map. The page loads fine in a browser but in a webviewer the HTML loads but the referenced javascripts never run. Hi, I've a solution with FilemakerGo where the users insert data. When all data is inserted, the user clicks a button which sets the field "lockRecord" to "Y" and from now on, changes should be avoided. I tried the following solution, that I inserted a rectangle control on top over all fields, and set the "Hide object if" to lockRecord unequal to "Y". This works fine as long as the rectangle control has a background-color. But in this case, I can't see the underlaying fields anymore ;-) When I set the background-color to transparent, I can see all fields with values, but changing of the field values is still possible ;-( How can I do this? Hi from a relative newbie, I have a FMP 13 file that works fine on some computers (both Windows and Mac) but on one Mac computer it works only partially. Several of the layouts work fine, but one layout is "frozen" and does not permit entry in any of the fields. Is there something in the Mac OS that could "lock out" a particular layout, but leave all others normally functional? Should I re-install FMP 13? (I'm not sure how to do that on a Mac. Hello, I am fairly new to FileMaker and I have designed an Inventory Management DB. In one of my layouts, I have a list of the current inventory. The layout is configured as a List View layout. I have 2 Groups of multiple tabs which show details of the item being viewed. One thing I have noticed is when I switch tabs on the selected record, ALL of the tabs in the list also switch. e.g. If I have 3 Tabs: Info, Details, and Notes If I switch to the Details Tab, the rest of the records in the list view also switch to the Details Tab. Hi! I'm planning a job schedule application. There is about 36 different "work stations" or "positions" each day (the left side in a picture) and the dates are in top (Monday to Sunday) In every shift or position there is usually only one person, but occasionally there can be several in one duty (up to 10). I cannot figure out how this can be shown in a listing. If I reserve extra space for possible extra person to each field, the whole list would become a mile long. I have been thinking of repeating fields but it would not solve this problem. Any ideas?

One of the sites that my database uses has recently started spamming ads. This eats up my personal hotspot bandwidth and messes up the user experience no end. Is there a way to install an adblocker extension into the browser used by FM? I'm a Mac, still using FM v14, but will probably upgrade soon if that matters. Does it use Safari or is it its own browser? Do folks have other solutions to this type of problem? Thanks in advance! For a solution I would like on-screen help. I was thinking about using sequential popovers, taking a user in logical steps through elements and functions on a layout. Much like one would often see when using an iPhone/Android/web application for the first time. I have gotten as far as putting some (invisible) popover buttons on a layout. Hi i have an event table and a coordinator table. Until now each event had only one coordinator. There has now become a need that at some large events require more coordinators - could be upto 5. I have a login for the coordinators where they could see events which are assigned to them. I need to update a solution designed for FM9 to FM15, the whole solution has 68 value lists (VL) all of them based on tables but only a few of these are conditional VLs. All of the tables have a primary key and a value field. The solution is designed according to the separation model. I have reviewed many of the developer solutions for calendars, but they are too elaborate for what I need. Part of my solution tracks courses, times and days on a quarterly basis, so I do not need a perpetual calendar. The courses do not change days or times during the quarter. Hello everyone. Pretty sure you guys are going to tell me to rework some things here but I've got a seemingly simple question. I have a database which has a layout that's view only, I don't want the user to modify the data. In any case, one of the fields is a description text field and on some of the records, the text is larger than can fit on the view of this layout. Normally, if you click a field, it will show the scroll bars to allow you to view all the text but because we are not allowing entry to the field, clicking has no effect. Is there any solution, short of making the description field larger on the layout? Thank you, DM

LS, All of a sudden the saveAsPdf script step produces this ( see picture ) result. It is an invoice, with almost all data screwed up. It looks like all letters were printed in the same column in stead of from left to right. To make things more complex, not all invoices print like this although they are using the same layout to print from. When I print to preview ( mac ) and the use the save as pdf options the invoice comes out great. How can this be ?

Hi there, I am looking to create a value list from a unique set of values in a given field. E.g. 5 records with apple, cherry, orange, cherry, apple and want to have a dynamic value list containing just apple, cherry, orange - having pulled the unique entries from this list. Having searched through this and other forums, I have found various ways to either extract these distinct records, or create a list but not seen how to put them together so that the list is automatically updated. Hi, this is my first post here. I am very impressed with the power of Filemaker Pro. I think of myself as between novice and intermediate user. I am in the middle of creating a database for an office. I have a question regarding layout sizing and portals. At the moment, in layout mode, my layout is 1024 x 768. I have auto sizing on to fit onto different screen sizes. Everything was working out great until I hit a bump. My portal is in this layout. I have the portal to resize when in browse mode. I'm placing a web viewer on a layout in place of a regular note text field to provide User a scroll bar in long notes. However, when I do so, I lose paragraphs and all data runs together into a single paragraph block. Is there a way I can adjust this so paragraphs are preserved? Also, I just noticed that, although it scrolls fine on laptop, it does not allow scrolling on ipad. Is there a way to do this? We do not need to modify the field, only scroll it. Thank you!

Hi! I have one portal problem that I simply don't understand. I have a layout with two sets of 3 portals. First set displays different data from related table 1 & second set from related table 2. First set of portals works fine. The second set also works fine except on one particular record. What is even more strange is that from 3 portals of second set, one portal always works on that record, second never and third started to work only after I recreated the record! Hello, I have a tab control panel with four tabs, and I would like to achieve that when I change tabs a script is triggered and would set the value of a global field called "zzz_g_collection_type" according to the tab name which is active. Hello, It always go to "Default segment button bar", set on the button bar setting, when reenter to layout. I need to go to same segment when user was working on before he left the layout. I have a Dashboard layout that is based on my Personnel table. I have a portal on this layout that is based on my Project table. Personnel is related to Project by Personnel::Employee UID = Project::PM - so that the person who is designated PM (Project Manager) on the project sees his projects in this portal. I have a time entry layout based on my Personnel table, with a portal to a related Timesheet table. Several of the fields in the Timesheet table are validated for "not empty" (aka, they are required fields) When users add several timesheet records in the portal without committing after each record, if validation fails on any record, it gives them the error message: "FieldName" is defined to require a value, but is not available on this layout. Hi, Some understanding please ... I use png images because Filemaker honors the "Transparency" of the image. SVG I am not allow in certain part of the "Solutions". My issue is; the "png" image looks great until I print or goto the web ? Then it pixelates ? My png images are down loaded for example 128 x 128 then I resize to 20 x 20. And it still pixelates. Customers give me simple "Logo's" yet when we print they just look awful. So, is there an image file I can use across my solution where Filemaker honors the "Transparency" of the image yet doesn't pixelate when I choose "Print" or goto "Web" ? Thank you.

Hello, Here I am once again fighting my particular war with conditional value lists. I have several car fleets. Composed by cars that can have one or many owners. Where I'm stuck is when on a day plan, I select the fleet I'm going to work on, and once selected (everything seems ok till now) I want to choose (via conditional value list) any owner of that fleet. I can't accomplish this last step. As always I try to explain my idea as good as I can in english, but I don't get it all the time (sure comment is going to quarrel, hehe, it's a joke). Hi everyone, I have created a table that holds 3 fields, - id, email subject and email text. These will be used as templates for emails. The idea is that the user creates the templates ( I can create new records) and then whilst on the Owners layout a portal will show these templates (the same list of templates for each Owner). This pertains to a known issue with FM on Windows, where the fonts in a solution change to a .TMP font due to printing to PDF. https://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/15419/ I posted about this issue a long time ago, got the fix from the FM Knowledgebase (delete a file and restart). That fixes it temporarily - but it returns about once per week or two. I upgraded to FM15 hoping that would fix it for good, but it's happening again. I use FM15 Advanced, Windows 7 Professional, Acrobat X (and XI on another PC - it happens on BOTH). I don't have Adobe Reader installed on either PC. Hi, Any assistance here I would be grateful ... I can not get my formatting bar to "Un-Gray" itself when my users log in and the custom menu loads. I've set my "Formatting Bar ( ON )" in my script ?? And when I'm logged in as "Full Access" I have no problems ?? The formatting bar is available clicking into the field. I've attached my customer menu, where I've even added the "Formatting Bar" but all it does is "Hides and Un-Hides" ... but the "Formatting Bar" remains grayed out, unavailable. I can not allow full access with users and I must have access to the "Formatting Bar" ?? when my custom menu set loads. What is going on ?? Thank you.

Hi I wonder if someone else experienced this, i recently upgraded my filemaker licence to a 15 expecting it to work better and more stable but to my surprise i find that it is a lot slower than 14, records take forever to sort and load and even just when trying to change from Layout mode to browse mode or vice versa it takes a couple of seconds longer than 14 did which i find very disrupting to my development.

Hello, I am newbie to filemaker pro but love it Said so, I am struggling a solution that I am building for management of holiday apartments, based on FMSP. I have created a table for bookings, and apartments, and now I am working with another table call Daytariffs that would give the price for each day of the year for each apartment. I ask this as I would like to delete some layouts that are no longer used but i don't want to do this if my users still need them, there have been a lot of requests for layouts showing information that I am sure are no longer needed / or haven't been used for a while.

I'm very new to FileMaker design, so I may be missing something very basic, but I cannot figure out how to make this work. I've got a working portal set up, showing the correct records. I can add new records using the blank line in the portal, and those records then show in the portal window. However, if I go look at the actual table that the portal links to, the new records are not being added there. Are they going somewhere else instead? I need to actually create new records, not just display them!

I'm going nuts here -- I've got a really simple Title header for a report. All that's in there is a single Text box with two merge fields in it. I have it set to 'Sliding Up based on all objects above, and have checked the box that says "Also resize enclosing part." I've made sure nothing is overlapping the division between the Title Header and body parts. But in preview the text box is closing up properly but the 'Enclosing Part' isn't resizing to take up the excess empty space created by the Text box. My solution for grad student to upload information about their summer internship, including a PDF file from their employer, is not working well this year. Last year, we were on FilemakerServer 13 and I built the student-facing layouts for WebDirect. The staff side of the database was accessed through FilemakerPro 13. Hi I have two tabs under the scenes layout. They have some of the same fields but a few of the fields are different as they have different calculations. How can I stop fields filled in under the no free hours showing up in the 2hrs free tab and visa versa. When I click on the second report button on the right I would need it to collect and put the report together with all the data within that date range. That's why I was thinking it renaming the fields slightly for each portal would not work as I cannot then see how they would both show up in the report as it needs to be a single report for both portal tabs. I copied across the button and also the script, but it simply seems to go to the first field in the portal rather then adding a new one. Can anyone help me. for some reason my portal field has stopped showing the scroll bar and will not create new records, but alters the last record, effectively wiping it out. This is hell on the billing, since these are essentially purchase orders. I have scroll checked in the portal layout box, but no joy. When I invoke the inspector, the appearance and position tabs work fine, but EVERYTHING in the data tab is grayed out and I cannot check the scoll bar function there, or any other box. Adding to the mystery, when I duplicated the layout and replaced the portal with a new one, the scoll bar reappears, but as soon as i revert to Browse mode, the layout goes back to the original, dysfunction…

Brand new file created for this demo. Outer rectangle is set to 169pt and inner is set to 36pt. When I select them both and align both horizontally and vertically, it seems fine. However, if I click again, it moves. Why? Would not FM select the best alignment the first time and thus repeat the same 'test' the second time? Wouldn't its first choice be its second choice when selected again? It does not matter if I deselect it in between tests ... it still jumps 1pt.
