I purchased FMP 17 yesterday [11/16] and installed it on my MacBook Pro running Mojave [10.14.1]. It installed OK. The first thing I did was to open an existing solution created in FMP 14 and it worked just fine. I saved a copy as a new FMP 17 solution. When I tried to open either the new FMP 17 version OR the original FMP 14 version, I get an 'unexpectedly quit' error. No matter what I do, I can't seem to re-open any of my solutions. I've deleted and reinstalled the new FMP 17 app and continue to get the same results. Any suggestions would be welcome. After some more testing, I found that if I select 'OPEN', it uses my FMP 14 as the default application. Ho…

I have great hopes that someone can help me...please. Although I am very new to this forum, I am a long time user of FileMaker products. I recently migrated from FMP 13 up to FMP 17 Advanced. In FMP 13 I was using a plug-in to allow me to open and run a script in another file. Unfortunately, that plug-in no longer works in FMP 17 as it is no longer supported and I was told that the new version of FileMaker allows users to perform all the functions that the plug-in previously offered. I'm trying to arrange for "Insert File" to open in a particular folder (cross platform). It seems it will only go to a specific file that I fully specify. If the file doesn't exist, it seems to go to some other place (like the last folder or the documents folder). Any way to control this? Thanks

Hi! I have a video in a global container field. If I play it in one record, say from start and for 10 seconds, and then move on to the next record, the video is from the beginning again. Dear All, I am using FM to create a MS Word file from a template, via 360Scribe. That is all working fine. What I want to do is immediately open the Word doc once it's created. I've been trying with the Send Event script step. Initially I had 'file not found' error messages, but after tweaking the file path I no longer see those. However, the file still doesn't open. I'm using FMP Advanced 12, and MS Word 16.5, all on Mac OS 10.11. I've attached screen shots of the send event dialogs Thanks in advance Pete

Hello everyone, i'm making a study about changing our phone system. The main interest would be to use IP system and get data back. For example, when some on call, with Windows you could use TAPI for getting back the number and make a request in your database system (sales forces, etc). I don't find anything about connecting FILEMAKER with TAPI and more useful for me using IP Phone to open FILEMAKER database with Mac Os Did someone already work on it ? Tom

I am using Citrix to access my FM17 solution. Recently, I noticed that the cursor gets jerky/won't move smoothly over a button that has "change cursor to hand over button" selected. It seems like maybe it's making a call back to the server. If I disable "change cursor to hand" it becomes smooth again. This does not happen when using the client software. I believe this started happening within a month or so; we've been using Citrix for years and don't think this has been an issue. Thanks for any insights.

I can't get FM 14 Advanced to scroll on my Windows 10 machine. Not on a table or form in either layout or browse mode. It's as if the mouse wheel wasn't there. The scroll bars work when I grab them. The scroll function works on all other programs, including FM 8.5. Any clues? Thanks

Hello, I am completely new to the FileMaker platform however not new to databases. I love FileMaker so far however, I'm a bit stuck. I have a customer table, a cities table and a states table and a form (or layout). The cities and states are drop down boxes for the user to use however, how do I set it up so that the user can enter NEW data into the drop down box (table) and have it check that for duplicates? Hello there I am hoping for some guidance from those far more knowledgable than I. I am new to filemaker, using the Asset template, adding some extra fields and making it work for me, unfortunately, there is an error with "CreatedBy is defined to require a value, but it is not available on this layout" as the pop up. I have worked out I need to have a box, linked to createdby, I am logged in, when I complete the process of assigning an asset to an individual, the createdby linked box inserts my name automatically, then when I try to click off or to a new asset entry, the warning comes up. Running FMP Adv 16. Looking for the best way to handle this situation. Examples are simplified. I have a list of stores: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green Each store has a number for sales in each month (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) I would like to generate a report for output so I can plot the monthly sales on a graph (via Excel). Since sales data involves a new entry each month, I didn't think it a good idea to put everything in one table. I currently have two tables - stores and sales. I have laid out a report that will display results on a month by month basis. I have the calculations done, and the report looks good. But I have to input a set of dates (1/1/...1/31, then 2/1...2/29, etc.) to get the report to display the full report. What function or script steps can I use to increment the search, and have a report showing a line of results for January, then February, etc.?

I have been using 'PackageMaker' in macOS for distributing my FileMaker runtime solutions since macOS X was deployed years ago. PackageMaker is 32 bit and will not run on macOS Mojave when it is released. Mojave is likely to be 64 bit only. What is a 64 bit replacement for building distribution 'packages'?

I have a solution that includes student photos. The standard display is 4.5cm x 5.0cm. I would like to include a popover that displays an enlarged photo. But no matter how large I make the container, the photo remains 4.5x5.0. If I export the photo and open it in Preview, it's much larger. Any suggestions? Hello and Thank you for your help I need to create date calculations, Objective to use a date that I enter in to a field and then calculate a due date. For ensample: Field Date is 20/06/2018 add 1 month = 20/07/2018, 2 month = 20/08/2018, 3 month = 20/09/2018 so on. So I need a field that I enter the number of months in 1 to 12, (Frequency Field), a date field where I enter a date manually (Last Inspection Date). Then I need a date field that calculates the date I entered (Last Inspection Date) and number of months (Frequency Field) to calculate the next due date. Regards Robin

Image attached. The second-to-last line is the only line with the word "changed" I don't quite know where to begin looking. In the past when I have dealt with corruption (different database / company, > 5 years ago) it was on a layout and I deleted it and all was happy dory after that. Goo day everyone, My apologies if I am posting in the wrong section. I am having an issue running DDR. First whenever I tried running DDR "HTMP" I would get a message that DDR was missing and required, after researching I created a DDR folder in c:\..extension\English\ folder. After creating the folder I stop getting the DDR missing error. I’m using the technique described in Difference.fmp12 to find the difference between values on one record and on a previous record. The technique uses a self-join relationship and the Last function. I use the following formulas: Total = Amt1 +Amt2 Total2 = Last(Self_difference2::Total), where Self_difference2 is the self-join TO Change = formula If(IsEmpty(Total2),””,Total -Total2) The if statement suppresses the output on the first record since there is no previous record. Recently my FMPA 17 client on one of my machines has decided to go bonkers and show me a blank launch center on opening. It's literally just become a white window with "FileMaker Pro Advanced" on the title bar and that's it. If I click around, it is responsive and will occasionally pop open options and such so I know the content is there it's just not visible. I've checked my video driver (updated and rolled back), reinstalled FMPA 17 several times. Uninstalled Visual C++ libraries and reinstalled. Uninstalled anything I can think of that's video related. In prior versions, we could 'scroll' through our layouts in LayoutMode using the record indicator. It also displayed the number of layouts. That seems to have gone to cyber heaven. Does anyone know of a shortcut I can add on my Mac to the Application shortcuts to move through the layouts? Or am I just not spotting that functionality yet? 😀 Hey Stephen! Hi, I have an issue in FMPA 17 where in layout mode and I have issues drawing objects, portals, fields, etc. Intermittently it will not let me put objects on the layouts. Sometimes it works fine, others I have to restart FMPA17 and then it seems to be ok for a while. I also have a problem (see image attached) where a set of cursor coordinates seem to be 'burned' into the FMPA17 app. If I had FMPA17 they go away, I bring FMPA17 back... there it is again. If I quite FMPA17 it will go away for a bit. This doesn't happen in FMPA16. Any ideas?

Hi there, I know this question is going to be a bit vague but I would be grateful for any help. The database is Hosted on FMPHost on the cloud hosting, the clients use FMP 2016 on Windows. The tables in question are a contact information table and a donations table. The donations table is seen via a portal on the contacts layout (picture of portal and relationship attached). Greetings I'm running FMP14 on a Mac. I have several time fields, all of which are configured to UTC time in 24hr format and are working pretty much as expected. Several calculation fields are run off those fields. My issue is, during data-entry, not everyone is as consistent in their notation as perhaps would be ideal... we all know how FMP loves consistency! I have several customers that utilize our MarinaPro Marina Dockage Management solution. All are running Windows 10 Pro 64Bit and Filemaker Pro 11.0v2. All the MarinaPro solutions are functioning well with exception to the one marina that is using an HP LaserJet Professional M1217nfw MFP printer. The printer has been named "HP LaserJet". Hi guys, Need some advice, I am in the process of creating an app for job tracking in a factory production environment, the job flow had approximately 15 stations. Each station would login and logout the job as the flow moves between station. I would love to deploy the solution by installing an iPad on each station but that would never fly due to cost, also installing a workstation on each station is not an option due to space constrain. is there an option for me to be able to deploy using android tables, or does anyone know is a low cost 10" Windows AIO with touch screen I can use in a industrial environment. The footer on all of my FMP 15 layouts does not appear in Print Preview and does not print. This is happening on all my FMP 15 solutions, not just a particular file. However, it does appear in FMP 12 solutions (I have both FMP 15 adv and FMP 12 adv on my computer). I'm using Windows 10 Home. Sample file.fmp12

This has been a repeating issue since I started working with FM12+ I have an object that is fully within the dimensions of a tab. It appears on every tab. I can't get it to stop. I need it to be on ONE tab but no matter how small I make it, removing anchors, nothing gets it to stop appearing on every tab. Is there a way to count the number of records in a portal (got that part figured out in a sum field) AND account for if a record has a specific field entry? I have a portal that displays games and sometimes the games are paired together in one record. I want to be able to count the paired games as 2, not 1. I'm thinking something like If ( Qty = 2 ; ( Get ( TotalRecordCount) * 2 ) ; 1 ), but currently what I get is ALL the records, times 2.

I have a few databases I use on my desktop (not a network -- software is on this machines, as are files) -- just FMP solutions running on my new Retina display iMac, running OSX 10.13.2. I'm on FMP 15.03.305 Recently, these solutions have become remarkably sluggish for doing simple data entry. We have a solution "Hub" and want 4 clients to be able to access the file on a network drive - J drive. We are using FM 16 on Windows. Is it possible for multiple clients to share a file on a network - with simultaneous use? If so, how do I set this up? We cannot simultaneously use the file. When one user is logged in, the other users get an error message: "Hub.fmp12" is currently in use and could not be opened. If the file is shared, you can use the open Remote command to open the file on the network. (If you've opened the file before, check the Open Recent menu.) There are no remote files listed. Hi all, i have a script that is for certificates , its simple really if the person has passed that test then a cert would be printed. I have the same script for PDF on Desktop. The email one doesnt print the spot certs even though he has passed . The PDF script doesnt even save it to desktop.This all worked before but seems to have stopped working after last update. Any ideas? Oh also minimise doesnt minimise in script anymore especially if you use CARD. as i say they did before.

I have a set of order forms, in which each order form has X amounts of orders from X amounts of clients. I can summarize with a Summary field the number of orders each client has ordered on one order form (weekly order form) and now I want to make a report that tells me the breakdown from week to week, and quarter to quarter. I can get the report to break apart the weeks by quarter, and it displays each week's correct total, but it won't do a total sum of each quarter, let alone for the entire database. I've just upgraded to FileMaker Pro Advanced 18 and I realized that most of the themes are missing!!!! Is there any way to recover or import them from previous version like Pro 14? Thanks

Our company sends emails to client reps with FMP URLs that take them to the relevant database record. We have been using the tinyurl webservice to shorten the FMP URL with success for some time. Since the most recent Windows update, however, we are getting no result from the insert from URL request. I'm sure it is related to the update, because the when the insert from URL is requested from a client machine that has not run the update, the tinyURL result comes back with with no problem. Does anyone have a similar experience or can anyone suggest a fix or workaround? Thanks, John

Hi - I'm having an issue I've never had since starting with FMP 7. I'm using FM Pro Advanced 16 (latest update), working on a database that I've been working on for years. It's always been very stable. Lately, it's been crashing unpredictably. When I say crashing - the program just quits, no messages, warnings, etc. It's happened at different times - running a very simple script, going to a layout, closing the relationship graph. No apparent pattern. Is anyone aware of any particular issue like this? Hello Out There! Just got a new iMac and it was time to update my individual FMP to 16. Currently there is a buy-one-get-one-free deal so I got two license keys: one for me and one to share. I have a set of tables that pull information into a separate table (Table A) , to populate it and prevent user data entry that is incorrect. What I'm trying to do with field A (Table A) is filter records (from Table B ) through field B (also Table A) and then choose from the remaining records by a range of two fields in Table B of a minimum number and a maximum number. If field C (the number field in Table A) is equal to or between the min and max, then a field from the same record in Table B fills in field A, Table A.

Hi I am experiencing strange behavior in creating new records. Using FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced. When I have 1000 records in a table the "New record " button takes about 40-60 seconds to create a new record but when I have 50 records it takes very short time to perform the same task. The table I have has 122 fields and the layout some script triggers etc. The same thing happens when I open the file in FIleMaker 14 to 16. I have tried to make a new layout with only few fields on it and no script triggers and the same thing happens. Any ideas what can cause this issue? Regards, Reynir.

**This is a fairly esoteric type of question, so I expect not many answers. Even if you have an idea of what to try, I'm all ears. Has anyone else run into issues with Windows 10 and FileMaker Pro 16.03 accessing a file on a FMS16.03 server? Sometimes the user's computer will freeze to the point of not responding at all, leaving the user no choice but to hard reboot. Othertimes the RAM or Hard Drive usage will ramp up to 100% and stay there, with the blue circle just chugging away with no end in sight. So I have am update script running at night - it does use a webviewer to look up internet data - the application of filemaker 15 is crashing at night during the run and the appllication is running out of memory - I checked Activity Monitor and filemaker was using 62 gb (yes GB) when it crashed - is there a script step I need to employ so that the application will not use so much memory during the run? - flush disk cache? I can't update from FMP Adv 15.0.0.305 to 15.0.4. After the update downloads, a software window opens that says "Close all FMP Adv files. FMP Adv will quit, install update and restart application". The windows has an Update button. However, when I close FMP, the software window also closes and I don't have access the the Update button. If I click the Update button before closing FM, I get the message to close FM first! I'm going around in circles. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I remember that there was once a solution where a business card could be read and the field/blocks discovered could be assigned to a type (Email, Mobile, Office etc.) and these blocks imported into FM. I have created an "opener" file called "OpenMP" that is located on the Windows Desktop. Also, a global variable for the directory where the FMP14 files are located called "$$marinaDir" = "MarinaPro v17". We are currently using 360Works Plastic 2 with FMP 15 and have done so successfully for some time now. There are two iMACs that are curently not able to run credit cards and are getting a "no content in header" error every time they try to run credit cards. I have checked to make sure the most recent version of FMP 15 is on the computer and any updates to Plastic 2. I have been in contact with our merchant provider and they keep telling me the API is missing but the API is there and other computers on the server can charge credit cards. Any suggestions? I have also removed the OS and FMP and reloaded with no success.

This is something I discovered by accident. The solution is one that was worked fine in FileMaker 13, but appears to break in FileMaker 16. In FileMaker 13, you can do a GTRR and specify that you want to use an external table's layouts. In this case the "external" table is in another file. When you do that and do this in a pop-up window, the normal behavior, based on my experiences, allows the window to be referenced by name, moved, and resized. It does not appear to work that way in FileMaker 16. In FileMaker 16, the window will appear, but cannot be moved, resized, referred to by name, or closed. When I try to start FMP16 - since the latest update - I get an error message without any part of FMP appearing on the screen. There is a lot of data but the bit that caught my eye is this: Anybody else having or had this issue? Any known solution? Filemaker support seem to think its an Apple problem - something to do with my user account. Apple seem to think its a filemaker problem. Happy to supply the rest of the error message if required.

HI Folks, I've just bought a new MacBook and am using it as an excuse to force me to organise my HD! In Mac OS Sierra, documents and desktop are synced (optionally) with iCloud. This feature is obviously handy as it provides an easy way to access files without carrying memory sticks etc around. My questions are: 1. Is there a danger of a FM file being corrupted if it is on a disk that is being synced with iCloud? (I believe that this is the case with DropBox etc?) 2. Is that danger only present when the file is actually open in FM, or does it apply to backup files / files that aren't open too? Cheers folks! Mike

If I buy a license for 5 people form here: https://store.filemaker.com/filemaker-cloud , will I also need to purchase 5 normal FileMaker 16 Pro Client licenses so people can actually connect to the database? Hi Folks, I've had to wipe my laptop and re-install MacOS. I saved all the files, but Apple support said there was no point in saving the apps because they wouldn't work - I'd have to re-install them too. There's no download of FMP15 on the Filemaker website - does anyone know where it's hidden? Unfortunately, FM support doesn't work over the weekend. I have splashed the cash and tried to upgrade to FM16 using my old FM15 serial number, but it's not having it. Not very impressed with Filemaker "support" at the moment.. you guys are much better!

After the latest update 16.0.2.205, Inspector is not working properly on two checkboxes. I see it on Browse and Snap to Grid check boxes. When I click on the checkbox, it won't refresh immediately. I have to switch to other tab and get back. Then only it refreshes. If I continuously click few times, entire Inspector window becomes empty. Sometimes few clicks and sometimes many clicks. Then I have to restart the FileMaker to get back the Inspector. I have been using a navigation technique I developed back in FM12 and have used successfully in 12, 14 and 15 that utilizes global variables to track forward and back history. In order to make it multi window friendly I use Code ( Get ( WindowName ) ) as the variable's repetition number. When I updated to FM16 the navigation script failed. While investigating the failure I found that Code ( Get ( WindowName ) ) as a variable repetition in FM 16 resolves different than it does in FM 15. I have a FileMaker solution that I have opened in FMPro 12 on a host machine that has a public IP address and all port forwarding set. I am able to connect to the files via OPEN REMOTE and the IP address of the machine from my Mac - and the files work perfectly, so the port forwarding appears to be correctly configured. When I try the exact same thing from a PC, the files do not show up in the open remote dialog box. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bonnie

We have FMS14 running 14.0.3.302 with 9 hosted databases which from what i can tell have been around since the dawn of time. The company started with FM7 I think and the databases have been modified since then. I love the way FileMaker 12 can do drag and drop on a container field. I know that I can right click and choose insert file and I will get the option I need. Hello! We are considering FM 16 (and other products) as a platform for a SaaS development and have a license question. As far as I can tell the old "concurrent user" license model is gone. We are contemplating building a public web based platform for hundreds (and hopefully thousands) of end users of our product to utilize on a weekly or possibly daily basis. Our dev team is less than 5. Does the new license model support something like that at a reasonable cost or is it only suitable for an enterprise type of model? Thanks.

I use Filemaker 13 Pro. When I click on FileMaker Pro Help in my menu, the Help window momentarily appears and then almost instantly disappears. This happens on both my Mac laptops, one with OS 10.12.5 and one with 10.12.4. I used to have no problem invoking the Help screen.

Hi, I have a FM7 database (Mac) that I developed for myself to manage a small apt rental biz. I just upgraded my Mac and now need to repurchase FM. At the same time, I'd like to add remote use so that I can manage things when I'm away (without taking the Mac), but don't want to add in significant annual costs since most use is at home. I'm old and I fear change... Is there any way to get the bottom toolbar back in FM16? I used it ALL THE TIME to change layout modes, change zoom level, and turn the top ribbon on and off. In fact, I have one solution that I couldn't edit at all in FM16 because there was no way to access the menus. I ended up going back to FM15 and telling it that when my account logged in to turn the menus back on so that I could work with the file. I used to just log in, click the icon to turn the top ribbon on, and then switch to standard menus as needed. Also, my Alt-tab functionality is pretty much ruined now that each window shows up separately. I also don't like that …

Hi, Has anyone else found that you are unable to export .fmp12 records from FM 16? I use this step in many scripts and the first machine I upgraded ( out of 48 ) I get the "unable to save file" error every time. FM 15 works, FM 16 fails on the same DB, same table, same record set. I see that, as a new Filemaker's 16 feature, every fm file opens in a new window instead a unique windows for all files. This is a good advance but, in some situations, we need to maintain the old behavior. Is this still possible by any preference o script step?

Hi forum. Was playing around with FM16. The one feature I wish it did contain was when you go into browse layout mode, the menu bar, formatting bar and status toolbar all appear. Then disappear when back to browse mode. So I came up with this developer type script that I attached to the OnModeEnter and OnModeExit layout triggers to use on a layout under development, so you're not constantly showing/hiding all the 'bars'.
