Hello Forum, I have scheduled a script that i expect to search for a running tour(on current date) and creates and invoice for that tour. The server gives a notification that that script ran but when i check the database, there are no records created. Also the script ran just fine initially and suddenly that began to happen, without any alterations. Anybody aware of a situation like this with server scheduled scripts and have an idea how to fix this. Thank you for your time and support. Miss-Amen.

I'm trying to execute a windows cmd script server-side from client machines. I've got this working locally using Send Event, but I found that this command isn't compatible with server schedules, which I believe would be the best way to do this in conjunction with a flag. The specifics of the script I'm wanting to deploy are: We use Google Apps for our user accounts, of which we have thousands. I'm considering upgrading my FM servers to v15, mostly for the Top Call Statistics, but also the WebDirect features. To save me some time and effort, has anyone used the Top Call Statistics in a meaningly way and can give a honest review of it? Is it really helpful in any way, and if so, how? Hi all, After tearing my hair out, what's little there was of it, for the last few days I have now been able to successfully manage to install FM Server 13 on Server 2012 Essentials. The main problem I had was that the program wouldn't install as ports 80 and ports 443 were being used. Here are the steps I used in order to successfully install the program. 1) If it's used then re-bind your Default Website in IIS to a different port than port 80 (port 81 for example) and port 443 to an alternative port - you can do this from Server Manager > IIS > Right Click on the Server List and select IIS > Open the Tree on SVR > Sites > Default Website. …

One of our clients has an internal FM server [FMS1] running a solution that we built for them and we have a cloud based FM Server [FMS2] running another solution for them with a smaller dataset that they publish to their own clients Data is periodically pushed to and pulled from FMS2 using server schedules that run on FMS1 and trigger very simple scripts to manage the movement of data This was all running without issue whilst both servers were FMS v14 Last week the client upgraded FMS1 to FMS v15 and since that point in time the scripts have been failing when FMS1 has been trying to update data from FMS2 which is still running FMS v14 Any ideas or guid…

Hi all My server is running on FMS 13.0v9 and my clients are running FMP 12.0v4. The mismatch is due to my clients still mostly being on OS X 10.6.8. I'm having a strange issue with slowness that I was hoping to get some insight on. Here goes: I have a layout (named "Checkin Layout") that access a table and a few related tables. The main table has a field named "CheckedIn" which contains either a 1 or a 0. The user checks a checkbox, which enters the value "1". i have FMS 14 with 4 clients on FMpro i only get this email from one mac sometimes every 5 minutes. Hello, I'm looking for a little feedback on hosting our FM 14 database through a different port other than 5003. We are experiencing latency issues with our Filemaker Go clients being on hospital wifi's and a lot of the accounts are blocking ports. We would like to use 443 to host the file to avoid blocked ports or other issues. We currently have a VPN setup to help with this issue, but, this tends to be hit or miss for our sales rep. These reps typically like to get in and out quickly and have severe ADD, so getting kicked out and having to trouble shoot how to get in and stay is making them feel like the database isn't working well. I am having a problem running a shell script from Filemaker server 11 on a Mac running 10.6.8. Every time I try to run it the log says it was aborted by user. The script is designed to look in a folder for an XML file. If there is one it changes the format and replaces some characters so that it will import into Filemaker correctly. The script works fine when I run it from terminal but fails from FMS. At first I thought it might be because the folder it is checking isn't on the machine itself but on a shared drive. I have FMS 13.0.5.520 installed on a Mac Mini running OS X 10.10.2. The server is hosting a couple of different database files; one is a single file solution, and the other is data-separated solution with the data file on the server and the interface file on the client machines.  My problem is that, with both files, users are being disconnected pretty frequently, if they are inactive for more than about 10 minutes. In the database files, the privilege sets are configured to not disconnect when idle, and the server is configured not to disconnect unless idle for more than 720 minutes (12 hours).  Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix it? I am new to FileMaker and do hope am posting in the right forum. Hi Guys, I am having some issues related to FM Pro crashing. One of the client who is on windows 8.1 the FM Pro 14v5 crashes unexpectedly almost everyday. They access the Filemaker files that are hosted in a Filemaker 14v4 Server hosted in Windows 2008 R2 system. This issue is happening on the windows system only. The client has 2 windows workstation and one workstation using a iMac. The Filemaker crash is happening only on the windows system. The iMac has never crashed. I have a .fm7 file hosted on FMS9. We have records that are added via the FM8.5 client as well as an incoming ODBC connection from a Tomcat webserver. After the records are processed in one department, they get moved into our accounting database (a seperate fm7 file on the same server) for billing purposes. The original records are removed from the first database. After accounting is done with the records they get moved into an archive file. Everything works fine in the file, but it starts at 40MB and grows about 100MB-400MB every day. It's grown to about 30GB (yes, GB) after about a month. How does one go about updating the schedules in a standby server so they match the schedules of the primary server? During the deployment I can't get past the web server test with error: Test web server (http://127.0.0.1:81/fmi-test/test.xml): Connection refused any thoughts - I turned off websites in the admin server. I am experiencing a nasty problem with a Filemaker Server 14.0.4.412 on Windows Server 2012R2. PDF s in a container field don't display, but instead either one of two things happen: 1 on FMPA14 running on Terminal Server (Windows), an error displays 'Security settings do not allow downloading this file' (or something similar, the message is in Dutch). the dialog doesn't display a FileMaker icon, only a yellow warning sign (Windows?). A customer experiences problems while shutting down a database: after he closes the database using the console, some users are still able to connect. Existing users get the message asking them to close the file(s) they are working on, but some users keep on reconnecting, with success. The files show the status 'closing' in the console. Could this be a communication problem between the console and the server? Or are there other possible causes? It's regular FMPA clients (13 and 14), no WebDirect. Please excuse my ignorance, FileMaker and Macs are both very new to me... I've recently been hired by a small company that uses a FileMaker database (not FM Server) to keep track of customers, invoices, etc. After quizzing the guy who built the database, he currently has Time Machine as the sole backup plan. From the research I've done, this sounds like it's not a good idea since the files are open when Time Machine runs and you may get consistency errors. I have a client who was hosting a database using a older Mac Pro running Mavericks and FMS 12. About a week ago they were finding that a series of steps would crash the server. If they used the quick find feature twice, the server would stop serving the files. All three served files would be closed and the server would be turned off. We could get things back up and running by turning the database server back on in the admin console, but we did find that we couldn't initiate a manual schedule execution. Hi Guys, Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My Windows 2008R2 FMS14 just BSOD this afternoon. After reboot, Filemaker services wont start anymore. Trying to manually start the service results in "error 1003: Cannot complete this action". I've rebooted many times. I've cleaned up tempfolders, uninstalled AV (Comodo), all to no avail. Hello Board! FMS 13. Hardware crashed. File closed incorrectly, listed as 'closed' on server console. I've opened the file locally with a version of Pro, done the checks and now have a file that works and can be opened locally. I log into FMS, using the console login and password, get access. I am having trouble connecting to the admin console from another computer. I know that I need to connect with https://ipaddress:16000, but I'm not having any success. When on the server computer I can connect using localhost:16001. The problem seems to be that https isn't starting. I am running the server that is included as part of a TechNet membership on a Windows 8 64 bit computer with 4 gb of RAM. I didn't have a web server setup on the machine originally but the install seems to have started it. When I checked the settings in IIS manager the FM Web Site didn't have https activated. Can any one please help clarify something for me. If we have 15 users connecting to a FM server which is loaded on a dedicated windows 2012 server do I need a windows license for each of those users? They will only be connecting to FM server through remote connection over LAN - NOT logging into the server as a windows user in any way, shape or form. TL; DR: FMS running scheduled script to delete "extra" records, reports success, records not deleted. ----------------------------------------- I had a persistent problem: people opening a database weren't realizing they were looking at other users' existing records, and were inadvertently overtyping them. I've got an IP thermostat and I'd like to regularly pull the temp using SNMP and insert it into a FileMaker database. I've got a bash script that returns the temp but I can't figure out how to get that data into FileMaker. I've got a script sequence which runs the bash script and then runs a FileMaker script. I was hoping get(scriptparameter) would read the output from the run before script, but it doesn't work. Do I have to write the temp out to a file and then import it or is there a better way? Hi, We are having trouble with the web publishing engine. It works fine most of the time, then for no apparent reason a request will take ten second instead of less than one - it isn't any particular page, and a page can work fine on minute and then take 10 seconds, and then be fine again. System is a server with Xeon processor, 2Gb ram running Windows Server 2003. Its sole purpose is as a Filemaker server. IIS logs simply show an increase in the amount of time required. I have a client that is running Windows 8.1 (fully updated). FileMaker Pro 14.05 (64bit) is also installed. The program will open and show you the Launch Center. However, when you click any solution in the Launch center or use the "Browse" button to open a file, The launch center disappears but the FileMaker file never opens. Only an empty screen is shown. No error message is given. FileMaker is still running in the TaskBar, but the only way to get back to the Launch Center is to quit FileMaker and open it again. I was reading this: http://www.filemaker.com/company/legal/docs/hosting_faq.pdf And it very much is disconcerting to me. I'm a small business with two concurrent users. From what I can tell, after FMP14, no more shared server hosting will be permitted. Looking at the prices offered by my hosting company, the difference between a shared server hosting plan ($20/month) and a dedicated server plan ($130/month) is quite substantial. Curious what people think about this. I'm disturbed, because it may lead us away from FMP in the future.

Hi everyone, I am new here. I just began working with a project that has been using FileMaker Server 9 and Pro 9. The current architecture uses one machine deployment but the machine is quite ancient and doesn't support any micro-frameworks that eases my web development duties. I wanted to split this architecture to a multi machine deployment this ancient machine having only the Database, another better machine having a webserver and/or a web publishing engine. I have a database that I created for someone to help me with this example - I want my filemaker database to update a field called CurrentDate in filemaker via the server everyday. If I use a date field and run a server side script once a night (current solution), then I have to wait for it to finish and it can take a while with 100,000 plus records. If I used a calculation field set to get(current date) then the server does not update it nightly - each morning I was to do a find on what invoices are past due and everyday that find should change depending on today related to the due date on the invoice - any suggestions? I installed from downloaded image v14.0.4 and then patched to 14.0.4a. When I go to http://localhost:16001 - nothing happens. It just sits on the screen saying that "Admin Console is starting...". I've not been able to deploy or setup anything yet. During install, it is setup to use alternate ports, namely 8080 and 8081 (http, ssl) respectively. Hi - my backup schedule is acting odd. The log says the schedule has aborted as the destination is "not writable" and some files may be left at the destination. A look at the folders seems to show them being written but they are not deleting after the nominated number. The status in the schedule window also says permission denied. I am using a custom backup folder but to test, I swapped it back to the default folder with the same issue. Any help much appreciated - thanks

I have a multi user db and I'm finding that people are locking records b/c they are leaving the cursor in a field after doing a specific task. Is there a way to script all fields to have NO focus after a task is complete? So I saw the new 14.0.4 update popped up on the website and decided I should finally upgrade the server to El Capitan. The instructions said it was "recommended" to uninstall the FM Server first before initiating the upgrade but I decided I could probably go on without uninstalling and went ahead. A couple of hours later right after the 10.10 -> 10.11 upgrade was complete I found out that the entire contents of the /Library/FileMaker Server directory was gone save for an empty Logs folder. There you go guys. This is what you get for not following the recommendations of your pals at FileMaker Inc.

I have this same solution I'm installing to 3 separate FM servers, but on one of them I can't get passed this Communication Error 22 for some reason. The error says it's the username or password, but it is imply not. I am using as basic as it gets with a username of "php" and a password of "1111". I also tried my regular admin account, but I get the same problem. I do have the FMPHP privilege set for both of these accounts... I am trying to install FMS 14.0.4 update to my local development FMS 14.0.2 system. I have closed all databases and turned off FileMaker Server 14 in the admin console. When I run the updater, I get a dialog "This update cannot be installed while FileMaker Server is still running. Please stop FileMaker Server and try again." I'm having some serious problems with my installation of FileMaker Server 14 and PHP. Everything seems to have installed properly and seems to be working fine except for one thing: If I make a php api request to get a record for example from a FileMaker database that request takes forever... 10-20 seconds, the immediate subsequent requests are as fast as you'd expect them to be, they just work. I struggle to figure this out. I'm told that in our completely VM environment that we use a SAN architecture which should provide the speed and the ability to present the volume as a local drive. I have a database that tracks the products we sell: SKU, PLU, ID, and a pile of other info. There are a number of tables as well to view product information, the PLU list (list of items with PLUs in sorted order), and several others. One of the things the PLU list table does is allow me to print the products with PLUs. In that list I see that the same item (same SKU) has 2 different PLUs. Hi everyone. Could be something already solved years ago, but I only noticed it happening in version 14 and not in version 13 or older. Sometimes at random for no apparent reason the server would drop the connection to clients and this connection can almost immediately be re-established. Not a huge problem except it's annoying. I tracked it down to Time Machine interfering with the main live Databases folder. Excluding that particular folder from backups in Time Machine preferences solved the problem. I have a client on an iPhone 6 who is getting "host not available" message on FileMaker Go 14. This is for internet connections(not local). SSL is enabled. Other clients and myself have not experiencing this message, unless the server is actually down. The server appears to be setup correctly and I only have ONE network connection enabled and IPv6 disabled(windows). I have asked the client to note whether they are on WIFI or Cellular Data when this happens and also which wifi connection. Are there any iOS settings that are overlooked? Any other ways to diagnose?

I received an email from Cognito Software (MoneyWorks Accounting) last night with a warning about installing El Capitan on their server: "The El Capitan GM release made available to developers by Apple earlier this month had an extremely serious bug which would erase all data belonging to server software, including MoneyWorks Datacentre data and Filemaker Server data. We have advised Apple of the bug, and they have acknowledged but not said whether it has been fixed for the public release on 30 September." Has anyone experienced this from the FM side?

Hello FMP Wizards, A few weeks ago, I had to switch to FMP 14 Server. Prior to that our little group was able to get by with hosting on one Mac but we had too many times when someone had to leave FMP so another person could get in. Anyway the transition was very smooth for all but one of my databases. I have one task that only I do. It's accounting related and I use three external files to do it. Where z: is a Map Network drive? Or, in general, Is it possibile stored external container field non in a local position but on another server? I have tried but seems non working. Hello Everybody: I just had an "incident" that took all morning to fix. Yesterday I restarted the server, for some reason the router did not assign the reserved address and I did not notice. Came late to the office this morning to a "Filemaker is not working" (Everybody has an opener file with buttons that poitn to the reserved IP to open the files). Everybody except one, unfortunately! She was able to open the files and without any server knowledege decided to "help" and simply closed the Admin Console and tried to reopen it (without knowing the user name of password). We have been having an occasional issue where records just disappear. It's been going on for almost a year now and we simply can't see what might be causing it. It is not common and seems to happen at random. Once every 2 weeks or so. Our database has 33 tables. The disappearing records all come from the same table. It is hosted on a cloud based server with 17 clients in 2 cities (same time zone) accessing it. My Windows 8 user just upgraded to FMP14. When accessing a hosted file (built in FM 12 on an FMS 12 server at a hosting service), FileMaker crashes on one particular script. Other users have no problem on Windows or Mac. She reinstalled FMP14 and reinstalled the FMP14.0.3 update. No help. I've updated 3 servers to FM14v3, and two of them are fine, but the one that sees the highest use (and has the biggest database) is now throwing "failed consistency check" errors which prove to be False Negatives (e.g. the files are actually fine). FileMaker has a tech note that this is a "known issue" http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10787/~/consistency-check-error-for-scheduled-backups but I'm wondering : anyone else seen this starting with their FMS14v3 upgrade? Any way to fix it? I hate ignoring these warning emails.

Hello Everyone. We just applied a SSL certificate that "originated from a certificate authority supported by FileMaker." We checked off "Use SSL for database connections" and restarted FMS 14. What we found was that the Mac clients running FMP12 can't see or connect to any hosted databases. The odd thing is that the Windows 7 machines connect without a problem. The macs are running Yosemite and we have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software w/o any luck. Re-install process was to install the base 12.0 software, followed by the 12.4 update for Mac and then the security update that was released in April. Our University IT is now requiring MacOS users to encrypt all storage devices. What I found on the FM board (http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9650) is the recommendation NOT to enable Filevault due to the performance hit, but no indication of the severity of the effect. The recommendation is indistinguishable from being part of a laundry list of generic recommendations to improve performance (get a fast drive, enough RAM etc). Hi All! Relatively new to building filemaker solutions, but stuck on this problem that have me pulling my hair out!. I have a filemaker server 14 running on a Mac Mini os X 10.10 and I want to schedule a Filemaker script to run on the server that every night updates a table with new entries from a excel sheet that gets updated daily (in .xlsx format). The import records script works fine when I run the script locally on my laptop (filemaker pro 14) but when I schedule it to run on the server, it runs successfully every time and throws out no error codes. I just had multiple failures trying to run the FMS14v3 updater. The installer would just get stuck at "27 files left to install" sitting there with zero CPU or Disk usage. This is on a 10.10.5 server with Server.app 4.1.5 running. Finally, on a whim, I decided to shut down all the services that Server.app was running - I'm not sure which one it was, but after shutting down File Sharing, Calendar, Messages, VPN and OpenDirectory, at some point the FMS14v3 installer recovered and finished the update.

Hello, We have just moved our FM CRM from being hosted on a P2P network to Filemaker server 14. Going forward we also want to attaché documents to clients. As these attachments might be large, it might be an idea to have them stored in an external container. There is a default container linked to the DB but I can't edit it or change the location. (See picture). Ideally I would like to specify a UNC path and have them stored in a separate folder on our Fileserver. 1. Am I correct that there is no way to change the location, or am I missing something? 2. I have added an internal SSD to my FMP server machine and have moved the databases to a folder on this drive. I specified this folder in the Additional Database folder path (and checked the box for use additional database folder). I am able to host the databases this way. However when the server is rebooted, they do not start up automatically as they did when they were in the default location. I cannot find anything to tell me how to control which databases are launched on startup. Is there a way to make my new folder the default folder? Thanks!!

Good day all, I have a monster 25 GB Filemaker database file hosted by Filemaker server. The file already started to perform slow. I recently set storage option of all container fields to "Open Storage". All photos from container fields are now stored on a local hard drive of my server computer. But the database file size is still the same, not even 1 byte smaller. Any thoughts? Is there any other ways of file size reducing? Regards,

We have Filemaker Server 14. We are hosting about 10 files for local/internal use with Filemaker Pro and public access via WebDirect. We also have a few large backup files that are only accessed occasionally, and only by one person at a time. I would usually keep these in the backups directory along with the scheduled backups. It has been suggested to put them in the databases folder and host them. Is that a waste of computing power, if these files are opened and served by FMS but rarely used, or is the use of resources insignificant if these files are not being accessed? I don't want anything unnecessarily slowing FMP or WebDirect performance. WS 2008 R2, 8Gb Ram

Since upgrading a server from FMS11 to FMS14, we've seen periodic (about weekly) crashes of the FileMaker Script Engine (FMSE also called fmsaed or fmse). Anyone else seeing this? The two most recent crashes are shown below. They don't look like a crash in the same location, but they both look like a crash entirely within the FileMaker framework. ( We had an earlier crash which was due to Dacons Mail.It plugin crashing, but we believe we solved that issue and it doesn't seem to be relevant for these crashes). Any ideas? OSX 10.10.5 with all updates. FMSA 14v1 (We haven't updated to FMS14v2 yet as the release notes don't suggest any reason to).

I have a student records solution into which I regularly want to import attendance data that's coming from Excel files. Each day's attendance is stored in 7 separate Excel files. The user populates the files, then runs a script to import and process them. When I was developing the solution on a stand alone machine I set up a table that contains the path and filenames of the 7 files that the script loops through. If I ever had to move to different paths or decided to change file names, I could just change the paths and names in the table. Hello, I have recently had to re-install our FM Server and for some reason, the cache flush distribution interval is set to 03:01 (3 hours and 1 minute) and it won't change. I don't understand why it is doing this. I have tried adjusting it, saving it, and restarting the server, but it just stays at 03:01. Has anyone else had this problem?
