    Greetings all: Here's a puzzler: In the style that I'm using for the attached edit box, I've chosen "No Fill" for Pressed and In Focus, but when I click on it I get a dark green fill; there's no assignment of conditional formatting to the field, either, so where is it coming from and how can I change the default(?) color from green to something less obnoxious? TIA for your help.

  2. Hi Everyone, just wondering if it's possible. Here's a screen grab of two radio buttons, and I'd like to have it so that if a button is not checked (ie the button on the right), then its colour is changed to grey, rather than the blue that you can see.   4. I'm building a survey app and I have multiple types of questions that fall broadly into two categories: Single Mention and Multiple Mention. Is there a way to conditionally set the answer fields to either be radio buttons or checkboxes depending on the question type? For example, each question has an "instruction" field that says if it's One Mention or Multiple Mention. So I'd like to do a condition like If MyTable::InstructionText = "One Mention" the responses are radio buttons and if it's Multiple Mention, it's a checkbox set.

Greets, all: I have a form where users are required to fill out a minimum set of fields for the record to be valid; once they do, a calculation within a Button Bar button changes its text from Incomplete to Complete. That works fine. What's problematic (to me) is that as the user enters text in the last field that requires data, the aforementioned button won't change state until the record is committed.     Hopefully I am in the correct forum. I am using FM Ver 14 to document accessory install dates. When traveling, I use an iPad (iOS) to track the dates, but update the accessory date installed on my iMac and share with my iPad. If I use the 1/22/2023 date format, my calculations are correct, however when I share with my iPad or iPhone, the dates are 01/22/2023, resulting in "Time in Service" date errors. How can I format the dates in order for the iOS (iPad) dates to show correctly? I have attached screen shots of the issue

Greets, all: I have a portal where I want to highlight the text field in it (in the first row) if a user fails to select a value for it; it would de-highlight after at least one value is chosen. I tried using not IsValid ( EVENT_PRESENTER::_kflt_Event_ParentID ) as a calculation, and it sorta works: the field de-highlights after the first portal row field has a value, but still highlights the empty waiting/next portal row field beneath it. I have a set of tabs in a layout, that shows multiple records below (based on a portal record filter.) It is cell tower information on signal strength. One of the GALLONS fields is Vehicle_Name. I want to attach a drop down list, conditional value list to aid in data entry (for IOS). So a CUSTOMER, can have many JOBS.     I have a portal which display fields songs titles from related tables. One such field indicate the Genre of the song. I'd like the portal row to change color based on the Genre field. My current implementation has a text field containing a space and sized the same as the portal row with conditional formatting. While this basically works, I find it inelegant, plus, when editing the layout, it's another object to deal with. Suggestions?

I searched the forums and found plenty of information on formatting, conditional formatting, check boxes and so on, but not what I was looking for. I have a value list with checkboxes, and have formatted the default text. What I would like is for the text to change to a different color when the corresponding check box is checked.     I use FM Pro 12, and I hope this is the correct forum for my first post. I have a text box on my website into which I often add dates in this format: 5th November 2020. Is there a way to have FM automatically change the “th” after the date number to the superscript version of itself? In other words, the date is entered as 5th November 2020, but FM changes it to 5th November 2020. By way of example, it is certainly possible to have Microsoft Office do this automatically, but I would like to know if FM is also capable of this function. Thank you Richard

    I am not sure if this topic belongs here or not. I have field that I'm attempting to define conditional formatting for, and I am unable to scroll down to the table occurrence with the field I need. The bottom choice of the list is ZREP_UHLP_TH_TenantHistory, and zrep_uhpd_TAH_TenantAgreementsHistory is the one I need. There are at least a dozen others after ZREP_UHLP_TH_TenantHistory. I do not know many Table Occurrences for the 36 Tables I have. I have attached a screenshot of the Table Occurrences. Have I run into a limit of displayable choices? If so, is this solved with the 64-bit version of Filemaker? Thank you for any help.

  22. I have a portal with the alternate row colors turned on. There is a field in the rows that is overlayed on top of another one. So as to not mess up the appearance, the upper field needs a fill. But this looks ugly in every other portal row. Is there a way to format this, depending on whether it's an odd or even row?     Hi! I have a list view which have 7 "columns" (Monday to Sunday) and about 50 records (rows). Looks like an Excel sheet with numbers. Is it somehow possible to highlight ALL similar numbers on the table (i.e. in all records) when I enter one field. Meaning... If there is number 1002 in the first record on Monday, entering the field would highlight all "1002" -containing fields in all the record. Conditional highlight seems only handle that one active record. I was thinking also a possibility to do a script trigger which runs thru all the fields and highlights similar numbers when entering any of those fields. Did anyone understand what I'm trying to do...?😁

    Greets, all: I want to use a Conditional Formatting calc to apply to a set of (required) fields in a portal so that empty ones are highlighted in the first row of a portal, only. (The logic is that the portal must contain at least one record, so only first row needs to be used as a flag to users.) I tried using Get ( ActivePortalRowNumber ) in the calc but the problem is that unless a portal row is active it doesn't have row number. Any ideas? TIA for your help!

  30. I want to conditionally format the items (btns, fields) in the active row of the master portal. Thus my formula is : Get (ActivePortalRow) = Get (RecordNumber). This works ok, but when I click outside the portal, the formula no longer validates correctly. (however, in the Data Viewer, the Get(ActivePortalRow)=Get(RecordNumber).     I have a field that contains a "percentage". I get data from several outside sources to populate this field. The rub is I need to format this field to read correctly as a percentage example 55% or 100%. The data come from outside sources as follow 100, 100%, 100.00 or sometime 1. I sometimes use a trick in Conditional Formatting to give fast hints in form views.. i'll place a merge field (name of field, or helpful hint) BEHIND the actual form, then will format the field to have a clear/no backcground, using a calculation of "IsEmpty(Table::FieldName) - to trigger it.. So if the field is empty, the hint is visible, but if there is any value in it, the hint disappears. See screenshot below.. The problem is that this falls apart in List View.. active fields work.. inactive don't.. what ca I do?

  35. I have a form in which users make measurements of multiple parts, then input the max and min measurements. I then have conditional formatting that compares these maxes and mins to the hard mins and maxes for that part. If the inputted max is larger than the hard max, or the inputted min is smaller than the hard min; the conditional formatting is supposed to highlight that measurement in red. This has worked in almost every case I have tested so far, except for one strange case. I have a hard min of 9.8, and my user is attempting to input 10 as the min. Some layouts (mostly reports) there are many objects formatted this way. I plan to change them to take advantage of 'Hide object when'. Does anyone know which one renders faster? I have a data entry "Comments" field and I want the field to expand when the text goes over the size of the field. Is there ANY possible way?     Howdy, all: This is for a FileMaker Go solution where there are arrow-shaped sort indicators for select fields that when clicked, will sort their respective fields in ascending or descending order, depending on which arrow is clicked. What I'd like to do is script it so when the arrow is clicked, the indicator color changes to reflect that that field's sort order is in ascending/descending order. That part is easy using scripted flag field and a script parameter to set it. The problem is deactivating an indicator's conditional formatting should a user decide to perform a manual sort using FM Go's native sorting control. Any ideas? TIA for your help!

There are many tables but the ones I am referring to are "Incident Reports" and "Pre Plans" Chiefs or firefighters enter the address of an incident into a new record in "Incident Reports".   51. I have 20 fields that can either be "Yes", "No", Maybe, empty". Each field is controlled by a pop-over button with those 4 choices.   54. I want some buttons to switch between slide panels, and want a visual representation of which panel is the front one. I used Conditional Formatting to change the fill color of each button using the GetLayoutObjectAttribute("ThePanelObjectName"; "isFrontPanel") function. Most of the time, the button fill color does not change until the mouse pointer is no longer hovering over it, and other buttons (for which "isFrontPanel" is no longer true) do not change until the mouse pointer hovers over them. However, the account number should be generated when it is feeded from the combinations of 5 different fields which should contain a max. number of characters, such as 4. I'm modifying an existing db and I'd like to avoid re-constructing it as it's working quite nicely as it is.   57. Hi Everyone, I am having an issue with conditional formatting on a portal. Currently, I am attempting to have portal text change color when a record exists on a specific date in a related table. My problem is that it is only working for one portal row and not for the others. I have observed that it is only changing the portal row that is the "first" record created in the related table. As soon as I delete this record, the formatting is "bumped" to the next record that was created. Any ideas how I could have the entire portal format correctly? Thank you!

    I have a field configured with field validation - set to a maximum of 55 characters. I would like to display some visual feedback to the person entering data when they have exceeded this limit. Since the validation occurs after the field is exited, it's not very smooth throwing an error dialogue after they have typed beyond the limit. I am unable to provide visual feedback while they type. It would be helpful to display the text in black as the type while under the limit, and maybe display the overset portion in red text. Any techniques for this?

    I use a list view layout to review records. When I want to make a change to a particular record I use a GO-TO-RELATED-RECORD step, make the changes, then return to list view.The active record is highlighted in blue on this list. I find the blue highlight distracting. It calls my attention to a record that at this time may or may not be important. Is there another way to highlight current record so by default nothing is selected until something is selected?

Than I have to assign a script step to the button otherwise it will not accept conditional formatting (stays grayed out). I do not want the button (object) to do anything. What is the lightest script step to perform ??     I tried using "IsEmpty(Self)" as a condition in the Hide Object section of the object inspector but it does not work (it always hides). Am I missing something ? P.S. If you are wondering why I want to hide something that is actually empty it's simply to "disable" the button of this object. Of course I can use "IsEmpty(TableName::FieldName)" as the condition but certainly more painful when you have a lot of objects to hide .

    Hello! Wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or knows how to avoid it... I have a handful of color swatches I've set for labeling in color profile of Generic RGB. Problem is, when I select one of these swatches for conditional formatting, my GENERIC RGB get converted to color profile of DEVICE RGB. BUT!.. the opposite happens on when coloring items on layout, DEVICE RGB get converted to GENERIC RGB. I don't know which color profile to use, FMP overriding my choice and then contradicting itself! If the tasks need to be done TODAY the record turns yellow. If the urgency level is HOT the record turns red. When the task is iIN PROCESS the record is conditionally formatted to be green. In another field, I need to format the text color to red when either of these phrases exist in the other field. I don't think FM Pro Adv 12 has this built in. In the past I have worked around this problem by simply making the text the same color as the background.   97. I have a layout with a set of tabs that are not visible to the user. I would like to apply condition formatting to a button when a specific tab is selected. So for example, I have a "notes" tab and a "calendar" tab. When the user clicks the "notes" button it take them to the "notes" tab. I would like the color of the button to change so it's clear to the user what they have selected. On a side note, I am sending the user to the tab as by assigning an object name to the tab and then using the "go to object" script step. Is there a newer/better way to do this in FM12?

In the past I have had success by selecting the field with conditional formatting and then subsequently selecting the additional fields that I want to clone the settings to.
