I have a FM Pro 16 solution on a 13 year old mac mini running Sierra. It is time to replace the hardware. Can I transfer the fm pro server to an M4 mac mini running Sequoia? Anything particular I should be aware of? Thank you Tommy

I've been trying to get a hold of FileMaker Server 16 for Windows for a migration but I can't find a copy anywhere. Is there a repository where old software can be downloaded? On their website I only see downloads for the updates.

Hello, I'm still on Mojave and I need to create a DB where one field will contain up to 8 pages with images and text data. I tried to google but I found no results. I use Filemaker very simply although I have a FMP16Pro application, It will be really grate to receiva a working suggestion as I need to import in my Database the work from my students which includes images ()not video or sound) and comments. PDF is the only way for me as the majority of my files will be prints to PDF from various Windows and Various Chinese languges .... Kind regards-

When the installer for FileMaker Server 16 on macOS Big Sur is run, it presents a message "Apache is humming. To install FileMaker Server, Stop Apache before running the installer." I know Apache is NOT running because I have stopped it. Yet, I still get the same error message. How can I overcome this issue?

We are moving our FM 16 Server to a new virtual machine for the eventual purpose of upgrading the OS and getting to the most recent FM version. After the virtualization yesterday, FM Services would not start. I am attempting to uninstall and reinstall the software, but I am running into a roadblock. "Ports 50003 and 50004 are not available. Make them available and try again." Not sure how this is possible, since the firewall on this machine is entirely off. Would appreciate any help so I don't have to leave the country.

I currently administer a Filemaker 16 Server and only use Oracle Java for the admin console (web publishing is turned off). We want to get rid of Java rather than start paying for it. Rather than upgrade to FMS18, is it possible to use OpenJDK instead of Java for the FMS16 admin console? If so, is there anyone that can provide some guidance on how to do that?

Hi, I have a performance conundrum that I have not been able to figure out for the past month and a half or so and am looking here for some guidance. We have a 9-year old FM system that we run our entire Production operation on. We have approximately 150 users in 9 locations across the US and Canada for this solution. We have a Windows Server 2012 VM with 14 CPU Cores, 60GB RAM, and an SSD Array SAN that we run our Production Server on. We have separate Drives configured for the Operating System and Data. When opining the FMS localhost I try to enable the ScriptMaster Plugin. For some reason I click to enable the plugin, I sometime able to click on save sometime not able. However, each time I go back to the FMS localhost the plugin is ALWAYS disabled. Would someone have an idea? With regards! Daniel

After upgrading to FM Server 16, I am seeing that the automatic daily script executed from the server side is no longer doing so without error. The script sends email reminders to workshop presenters scheduled within 4 days. The error code, which I record in a log, is 119. However, that code isn't listed among the error codes listed in the online help: https://fmhelp.filemaker.com/help/16/fmp/en/#page/FMP_Help%2Ferror-codes.html%23 Knowing the meaning of the error may provide useful information that will help me reconfigure the email account settings for the command Send Via SMTP Server. I'm trying to upload a new solution to FMS. When I attempted to connect using the saved credentials, it threw the error "Invalid name/password. Please try again." Unfortunately, the login pane was grayed out, so I could not make any changes. So, I went into Keychain Access and deleted the credentials. Now, there are no saved credentials, but I am still unable to access the login pane. I see my server in Local Hosts, the IP address is correct, and I can access the Admin Console. Mr. Ignoramus We have a solution in Canada where we moved the db from a hosting company to a LAN ( customers building ) They are using a Mac OS machine running FileMaker 16 server. We access the FM 16 server via apple's remote access, having trouble locating where we would put the index.html and php files for our web form that we used when we were hosting on an outside hosting company. The hosting company put the html/php file in the folder that designated our account number. Is there a way to let fm remember the open windows so that when opening the solution later, all the open windows are restored?

We're running FMS 16.0.4 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Java 8 U181 and everything is fine. Unfortunately our IT security people want me to take Java to v8 U201 and I've been caught by Java updates breaking control of FMS in the past. We are currently running Filemaker Server 16 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and all clients are using FMP 16, all on windows 10. Hi There, I am writing a system script that needs to be run using an admin account on a Windows Server 16 machine. However when I try to set this up it says that the script is missing or invalid. The login details I am entering are to an admin account on the local Windows Server 2016 machine. I have tried both these, and the default administrator account. Hello, We recently upgraded from FMS 14 to FMS16 and one of our databases won't open via WebDirect due to the way it's named: the database title has an ampersand ("&") in it. This worked just fine for FMS14, but not for FMS16. The easiest solution seems to be to change the database title. I'm a little hesitant to jump into this because of a large number of externally held containers. How would one safely go about changing the database name (I'd like to change the "&" to "and") without losing the linked containers? Hi All, I have a new install of filemaker 16 where I have "updated" all older databases to .fmp12. this is all fine and i can access all databases on the server. I can remotely access, all files are shared and have sharing turned on. However, when linking databases to each other remotely, it says "the file cannot be opened and is closed by the host" (but its open/normal on the server) The only thing I can find is that the server.pem file on the server is only 3Kb and this has been an issue before. Does anyone have a server.pem file (for filemaker server16) that i can try to see if this fixes my Issue? tia

On windows 7 (VMware on OSX), using FMP17 and Microsoft Access 2016 Trying to do a ODBC import and selecting the datasource, I get asked for Username and password, even if the Access DB is not password protected. The data sources are correct (tested from Livecode) and should be working without user name and password. On the properties of the ODBC pane setup the path seems correct (not pointing to 32): %windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe What am I missing?

I have a developer subscription. My FMS17 works fine on OSX 10.12.6. I installed FMS17 on a Win7 (VMware) virtual machine (developer should allow up to 3 FMS) and FMS seems to work fine: I login, see the demo file, etc. The problem is that when I try to upload a DB from FMPA, both from OSX or from the VM Win7, I see the FMS but the login pane is greyed out. We have a couple of servers running on AWS. As of the middle of last week we suddenly are having connection problems. The server logs mostly lists error 10, sometimes error 51. These customers have poor internet connection, so we have set up a server and a client in the cloud. The users connects to the client through an RDP session. It is a Windows enviroment with one customer using Windows server 12 and FMS 14, the other Windows server 16 and FMS15. Somehow java updated (probably by mistake) and it killed web direct. Simply down grading java does not work. I've went as far back and un-installing java and then FMS. Then rebooting and performing a clean install of FMS. FMS 16.04 on windows server 2012 R2 My hunch is something is wrong with all the site settings in IIS from uninstall and re-install. Solved: I had a script step go to original layout. This went to the blank (opening) layout when run on the server.🙄 I have a script that is not performing as expected when I run it as a server scheduled script. The script needs to run every 1st of the month; find and copies invoices that are marked as subscription and mail the new invoice to the customers. The script runs as expected in FM client. However, when I run it as a scheduled script it only copies the first invoice it finds and it gives a perform find error in the serverlog. Any ideas why this is happening? I'm having more and more problems with users getting the error that they can't modify a record because they're already modifying it in another window. Except that they aren't. When I look at the server admin console, though, I'm seeing multiple connections for each user. One guy is showing 32 connections! Anybody have any idea what is going on? I have just been obliged to change my setup to a different internet provider. FMS 16 running on OS 10.13.3. I am not an expert on configuring internet service setups, but having been trying to reproduce what existed on my previous provider. I am now in the strange position where Filemaker client and Webdirect work correctly from computers outside my local network via a DNS address. I'm using the FileMaker JDBC driver to drive the data layer of a web application, and I'm noticing a periodic crash in the xdbc_listener process on the server. It doesn't seem to correlate to volume or load, and I can't seem to identify any other pattern in its occurrence. This is a strange issue that happened only after we upgraded from FMP11 to FMP16.0.3. We also migrated the FMS to a new windows 2012 virtual server, with a updated version of SQL 2012 (previously 2008). Most users (125+) can connect with no issues. But we have a handful of users (5-10) that cannot open the database at all. They either run the launcher and never get a login screen, or after they login the initial scripts start to search for the users data and it never finishes. So I have a hosted solution, with a dashboard with a couple portals. When I go to scroll a portal, scrolling even one portal screen has a delay of a few seconds, ie I click the scroll bar or try to drag it, and it takes about 3 seconds before it moves. Running locally, it's instantaneous. Running on a dev server on my LAN, there's a slight delay, but minimal. Having read various threads about this situation, my first thought was it's due to a filtered portal, so I removed filtering, but that made no difference. Hi - I've had something odd happen a few times after uploading a local file to Filemaker Server. The server instance is being hosted by Soliant in their cloud, but I'm assuming this is not an issue of their particular configuration. I had enabled the fmapp privilege for appropriate privilege sets before uploading. It worked at first, but then later, users were unable to access the hosted file. I discovered that the fmapp extended priv was disabled for their priv set. I thought maybe I hadn't set it when I thought I did. However, today - the same thing happened with my full access priv set and I was unable to get in on the server to fix it as a result. …

Hello, So I'm setting up WebDirect and for the first time setting up a worker machine. I initially set it up using the IPs of my two machines. It worked. I could access my DB with a browser. After setting up our router to forward port 80 traffic to the worker machine*, I found that it re-wrote the URL to the IP address which wasn't going to work. I'm running a Mac Server so I set up the DNS service to resolve the FQDN that is used by our remote IP (dynamic DNS) to the internal IPs and then set my two servers to use our internal name server. Hi all I have three backup schedules: hourly, daily and weekly. To reduce any lag experienced by end users during the day I am wondering if I should do away with the verification step for the hourly one, which would speed up the backup. I would keep it on the other two and would be emailed by FMS if there were an issue. But if there were a crash and I wanted to restore from the hourly one, how do I know the data integrity is OK? Obviously if there were an issue I would use the older daily one, but that is a risk I'd be willing to take if it sped things up. Thanks

Hi, we have a “log” table where a new “session” record is created when a user enters in the system, and when closing the database the is edited in order to keep the timestamp when the user enters and exit. This way we keep track of database usage time. The problem is when a user gets disconnected from the server (lost internet connection, or some issue with iPhones or iPads). Is there any way to get the approximate time when a user gets disconnected? is there any workaround to know how long a user has been connected to a database after loosing connection? Hi, We have ESET Endpoint Security on the FileMaker Server 16 machine (Single machine deployment). When ESET Firewall is active with default settings, We couldn't access FileMaker databases from FileMaker Pro using external network (WAN). We opened the ports 5003, 16001, 80 and 443. Still no success. If we completely disable Firewall, or If we open "All" ports, we could access the databases. Please someone direct us how to open only FileMaker Server specific ports on ESET Firewall.

I'm running FMS 16 on macOS 10.12.6. FMS is up and running, and I can access the hosted databases. But I can't get into the admin console. When I enter the credentials, it just sits there. It doesn't throw an error. It just doesn't react at all. Same thing when I intentionally enter an incorrect passcode. No error. Same behavior whether I use Firefox or Safari. Same behavior whether I try to come in remotely, or if I work directly from the server as localhost. So, something is wrong with web services rather than FMS, right?

This issue happened just after upgrade filemaker version from 14 to 16 Let me explain the problem in simpler way. We have three databases – A (20 files), B(15 files) and C (10 files) DB A is shared files with DB B and also DB B is shared files with DB A, same as between DB B and DB C. I have a solution running on a Filemaker 16 server. I have accessed the server via VPN on a remote Mac and now want to access the data via ODBC on that remote Mac. I have turned ON ODBC/JDBC for ALL USERS in the Filemaker file I have downloaded ODBC Manager – the free version But when I try access the Filemaker "System DSN" in the ODBC Manager, nothing appears. This is a mystery to me as this exact (and rather simple) setup works perfectly on my local network. I have 2 databases, each created with filemaker pro 16. They are both mounted on filemaker server 16. So it's database A and database B. In database A I added 3 tables from database B. I made a layout with some portals in database A that show information of database B. Whenever I try to access this layout in database A, I get the login screen asking for my credentials of database B, Is there a way to tell filemaker just to use the admin account and always show the tables from database B with all permissions? IMPORTANT - I am currently installing Filemaker Server 16 on a desktop PC running Windows 7 Pro. I know that it is not ideal, but I havent been given clearance on using the Windows 12 server computer.. After the files have been installed for Filemaker 16 Server, I am given a 1920 Error from Windows stating that I might not have the correct privileges to start the services. Hi, I get error 800 in the "Export Records" script step when executing it as PSOS. The file path is set in a variable ($path) as a calculation: Get(TemporaryPath)& "tmp.fmp12" This script works well when executing it to save the file to the local temporary folder (OS X El Capitan), but returns an error when executing it as PSOS (Windows Server). I believe it can be a permissions issue, but I thought the temporary path was accesible from FM Server "by default". Anyway, any insights are appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I've just installed an SSD into a Mac mini server and done a fresh install of macOS Sierra. I installed FMS16 and ran the updater to bring it up to version 16.0.2.212. When trying to access the sample database over WebDirect, I get an error about JavaScriptConnector and a big, red box complaining about cookies. See the attached image. I'm using the latest version of Chrome, and cookies are enabled! Shouldn't the FMS16 installers have installed all of the necessary JavaScript files that it needs? What gives? I'm having multiple connection issues with FileMaker Server 16 running on a Windows 2016 VMWare server. Background: I had my solutions running on a virtual server hosted with FMS 15. I started to have problems with overnight scripts not running and random slowness. My VMWare vendor suggested moving FileMaker to a new virtual server. I figured as long as I was moving I might as well upgrade to FMS 16. That process was completed yesterday. The old server was called Bloodgood and the new one is Bonsai. How much RAM do you assign for FileMaker? Is it beneficial to have more than 256GB of RAM?

I just installed Filemaker Server 16 on a server with 4GB of RAM; it seems to be running fine. However, in reviewing FMS16 documentation, I see that the minimum specs for RAM is 8GB. Hi all, I have a problem connecting to my server, The FMS 16 is installed on windows server 12 on one machine and all required ports are opened, when trying to conncet from other devices with FM pro 16 installed on windows 10, whether it sees the server name by itself or I enter the IP. it keeps saying "waiting for response" as in the below image then "connection failed".. I failed to locate the problem..NB windows fireall is turned off on both the server and end user device Any help?!

Where can I find information on Filemaker Server 16 caching and (re)calculation? I have this problem: a customer that I took over upgraded to Server 16. Workstations are still on 15. Now, a soritng... status dialog appears very often, something that didn't happen with the previous version (which was 15, I believe). There seems to be a bug with FileMaker Server 16. Server scripts or scheduled scripts do not work when using the 'Insert Calculated Result' script step as part of a find, but it does on FileMaker Pro. A workaround is to use the 'Set Field' script step, which is fine, but this bug caused us some issues and will no doubt cause others problems.

I have 2 clients with a similar problem. Each are artist foundations, each about to receive a large volume of digitized video, audio and photography. A portion will be managed by FileMaker, and a portion will simply be stored in a traditional file sharing environment. We are currently running FM 12 with Super Container that was installed on 03/06/2014. I understand that we would need to upgrade, but will it wipe out what is there? I am the IT person for our company and when our FM programmer died, I took over with FM. I know that I might sound stupid, but I want to make sure that we won't lose any data. I'm thinking of redoing my fm server and upgrading to 16. My users experence a lot of slow down when remote users are connected or when multiple users are in the same layout/table doing data entry. Im hoping setting up a raid 1+0 might solve this. I have a Mac Pro trash can server with 16gb ram. I have installed FMS16 and FMPA16 locally on my Mac Pro (running El Cap) for testing purposes. The admin console doesn't seem to be showing the correct information. It is always listing connections that are no longer present, even after having restarted the server via command line, removing the file, etc. After uploading a new file to the server, the new file doesn't appear in the admin console, but can be listed via command line. Access also works by web direct, etc. Anyone else having issues with the admin console on FMS16? What did you do about it? Yesterday, I tried to move a script that creates a PDF ( and mails it ) to a server side script, as the "save records as PDF" script step is now supported in server side scripts. It did not work correctly, and generated an error 800 (file could not be created on disk) in the server log. Rather generic error. I changed the script to point to a blank layout instead. No more error. A nice blank PDF was created. I put a text box with "test" in it on the layout, Arial 12 point. -> error 800 I removed the text box and put a png graphic on the layout -> OK I put a text box in a font that I was sure of the server did not have -> OK! I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge. We would like to switch from FMS 14 to FMS 16. Version 14 resides on a VM and the hosted databases have container fields that use external links back to actual files stored on this VM. Can we simply install FMS 16 on top of FMS 14 and by doing so preserve the external links to container information? Also, where do the files corresponding to containers actually reside? I know they are somewhere on the VM, but not sure where and whether they are easily recognizable based upon their names. Again, my apologies for asking what many might consider basic questions.
