    I am using a value list with a person's affiliation. They consist of offices, commissions and committees held. I know where to go to edit the list. When I print a report it prints phantom values. There are a couple that I originally created but do not see them in the list nor are they assigned to anyone. When I print the report it shows the value with no one tied to it. How can I find this phantom data in order to delete it. Many thanks. On further review - I think my difficulty can be in one of my three tables that are tied together. In Table view, if the user's Privilege set has "Available Menu Commands" set to "Editing Only" then they can not sort fields by clicking the table column header (the "Sort Ascending" and "Sort Descending" popup menu items are missing). I've tried installing a custom menu set that has the "Sort" menu item available, but "Editing Only" seems to override this. If I use a Custom Menu Set and also set Available Menu Commands to "All" then the Sort Ascending and Sort Descending popups are available in Table View, but the user also gets access to a bunch of confusing / dangerous options such as "Add Leading Grand Summary" and others.   5. So have have products which have multiple part numbers and sizes. Part number table being the join table of products and sizes. While the portal view works fine on single product layout view to display sizes/partnumbers, it of course doesn't work within another portal view of scrolling products. I've used a button to open sizes/part numbers into a new window, but doesn't really work well on webdirect. I need to be able to enter a "soft return" (aka "line break" or "newline character") to force text to a new line without invoking the Line Spacing settings that control paragraphs separated by "hard returns" - like you get when you hit the Return key. All I want to do is add a slight tint to the background colour of certain fields in list view when the row is not active but try as I might I just can't seem to do so.   17. I just updated to FileMaker 14. I have thousands of records with container fields where I used "insert Quicktime" to link audio files. This latest version has removed that option. So I learned I need to make the container fields interactive. I did this properly, and now the audio is playing. However, the Quicktime controls are gone. I can't move a playhead around, fast forward, rewind, or much of anything. The only options I have are Play/Pause and Volume. Is there any way to fix this so I can have more controls?   18. Has anyone come up with a way to nicely add a couple of static options to a value list generated from a field? For example, assuming I have a field that I'm using to create a value list. I want the exact same value list, but with "All", "Mine", and a separator to appear at the top. I figured out a way to create a value list that includes "All" and "Mine" in addition to the names in the field the values are drawn from, but the words appear in their alphabetical order, not at the top. Hi All After instaling Filemaker Pro Advanced 14 in Windows i notice that inside Script work space if you have a script step like Import Records (with ODBC configuration and a Sql Query ) There is no way to go directly edit the Sql query (Short Cut Key or double click) to change only the query Example : you always have to - Specify data Source (Drop down Menu) - Select ODBC Source - Confirm User Password Edit Menu - Then Edit Sql Query.... I've added a layout "Popup - View Attachment", and a script "Popup - View Attachment". I have a button on the Tasks Details layouts, Attachments tab to run my script. I add two attachments, each a PDF file. What I'm aiming for is to click that button and have ONLY the one record I'm selecting from appear in the new layout via my script. When I click a row then the associated personnel_ID is put in to a personnel_IDF field in a new record of a different table (Case_personnel). This second table is also displayed in a portal. No changes have been made to the 'personnel' table. How can I get the personnel portal to exclude records where the personnel_ID matches the personnel_IDF field in the Cases_personnel table?

  26. Hi All, I have created a database and am hitting a wall with one of my portals. A brief structure of my DB is. Customer details (Accounts table) > Their enquiries (Enquiries table) > Send a quote (Quotes table). I require the portal to show 2 quotes from the account using information gathered in the enquiry. Both the quotes are showing up in the list and table view of quotes, but when I try to show them (including the related data) in the portal the duplicate info shows up.   28. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas why this would be happening. I've been working on a database that was originally created in FM 11 but has been converted to work with FM 14. I went to format a checkbox set the other day, and I don't have any of the additional options that are standard for FM 14 (see screenshots). I ended up creating the style I wanted in a FM14 database then copying it to the converted one. A bit of a bugger and a little time consuming.     Hi... I have a portal with records that have a date field. I would like my users to be able to define a date that the portal will filter and show only records with the date the user defines. This seems simple, but I cannot figure it out. If I use a filter that uses a calculation with Get(CurrentDate) it will work, but only for the current date! So I know my relationships etc. are working...but I would like to be able to choose the date in the user interface...and have the portal search and display that particular date (NOT a date range, just one date). I need to store the location of where the asset is, depending on the city it may have different factories, so the asset is in one of those factories.     First, I have a tab control with 3 tabs, I would like to use the Hide If feature to hide certain tabs depending on certain conditions. When I try this it hides the whole tab control (with all 3 tabs) and I'm looking to do this individually, is this at all possible? Second, I have quite a few fields that I need to have on my layout for calculations and scripts but I don't want users to see these. What is the best way to keep the fields on a layout but hide them from users? Thanks!

    I am updating the field picker to update field options and I am getting a frustrating glitch. I right click on a field in the field picker and select field options and it opens just fine. I make a change and then close the popup and the field picker half greys out (see attached image).     Hello , Im hoping somebody can help me :-). I have a portal on my customers layout its a single date field portal. This portal is connected to my service layout. The Field shows the retest date of a piece of equipment . It works perfectly if there is only one retest date. My problem is if there is many. What i would like the portal to show is the NEXT retest date . At the moment it shows the LAST retest date. So if i have a customer with many machines tested on different dates it always shows the LAST which means i miss the retest dates in-between the current date and this last retest date.     Hi Guys, Firstly I am using FM Pro 12, my company needs to utilise a map system, we work in the vehicle industry, and we would like a map system to show all available garages (which we will plot ourselves on the map) in a customers post code (UK) range. I have tried using the web viewer and the built in UK Google Maps system, however I find it very limiting in what our staff can do.     Hi everyone, I would transport an excel table in filemaker, and I would maintain the same logic. This excel sheet contain the orders, one per row. The row color changes according to the state of progress. Pushing a button after the selection of the cell, all the data of the order along the row are shows in a form with tab.   53. I've been reading up on the Saved Finds. I knew it was an available feature, but it was disabled. I did find that Custom Menus, pre-FM10, would have this case. We are on 14.0.4. Converted from 11. Files were built in 5 or before. FM Server is up to date. Using Windows. I have full Admin privileges. It is available for the Standard Menu Set. My problem is that, when I try to Edit or Create an Custom Menu, Saved Finds is not an available option. I can even try to build a new Custom Menu from scratch. No luck. Any suggestions?

I've used FMPro for decades and can not believe that with the advent of .fmp12 (using version 14) that the Powers that Be decided to dump the ability to add multiple fields to a layout. Here are screen shots from Version 9 (.fmp7) Screen Shot 1 is the first window when creating a new layout. There, I choose the type of layout. Screen Shot 2 expands on that choice. Screen Shot 3 allows one to select ALL the fields desired for that layout in a single action. The only thing I see with FMP14 is Screen Shot 4. One window, one choice. Finis.     I am just trying to do something that should be simple, click on a row in a portal and save the row number to a variable, $row. I've attached the script to various triggers, OnObjectEnter, OnObjectExit etc, I've attached it to a button on the portal row, but no luck. The variable, $row, never shows up on the script debugger data viewer. The script only has this step in it. Set Variable($row;Get(ActivePortalRowNumber)) My objective is to be able to go back to the last row that I was on when I re-enter the layout. There are a total of three portals on the layout.

  63. Hi. Is it possible to switch rows in the portal by just simply drag n drop? Like for example, we have four rows: 1. Mike 2. Linda 3. Bob 4. Phil If I take 4.Phil and drag to 2.Linda - they switch places. The whole row that is. And just by dragging the number (row number) - which is another trick, to keep it always in the sequence.   64. FM14 Advanced 14.04 I have a solution with about 15 files. All use the same Theme - Classic under the Basic group. I use the default font (Arial). Today, I opened every file and every one has the font set to [email protected] I checked the theme and they are all still using Classic under the Basic group. So I tried to change the theme. As soon as I do, in any of the files, the Classic theme is gone in the menu. At the bottom of the font menu are 5 or 6 of these same fonts with slightly different letters. The problem is its running extremely slow on all computers, when you click from one layout to another, theres about a 10 second waiting time before the layout switches. As I am going threw and modernizing this system, is there any tangible benefit for me to re draw these objects as buttons? On the one hand, why should I bother? All the settings are the same on each portal (just pulling from different layouts). Each portal has a button with a script in it that has it "go to the related record." All of my portals and go to related things work great and quick an no issues. I then subsequently have a interface file, with a reference to the customer file, however I have a locked layout where the user can find add etc data to the customer table.   83. Hi I have a report that has two sub summaries, so it is first sorted by date, then within that date it is sorted by unit. When I only have one sub summary it (the date one) the sub summary part is always the correct height (seen when clicking on the crowd report button, however when I put in a second sub summary so it sorts the units within those dates it can then randomly do different heights for the date part.   94. Thru versions of Filmaker going back at least to FM12, I've heavily used webviewer on my layouts. 1000s of records with stored urls without issues until recently. Some, but not all records with urls crash Filemaker when accessed. A fair number of my records include urls to articles in NY Times. It seems as if the older ones find the NY Times pages and work ok. Perhaps NYT website is doing something differently. For the past couple of weeks, nearly every NYT page whose url I store causes FM to crash. Non-NYT urls aren't doing this. It happens both on 32 bit desktop as well as 64 bit notebook - both Win 10. Any thoughts? Thanks,

  99. I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. FM 12 Adv no longer fits properly on the screen. At 100% zoom the image is too large and I have to reduce to 75% zoom.
