I have a database with orders, and per order there can be added items... Database works fine and all, but now I need to print it and it doesn't seem to be possible (I seem to need 2 bodies). Was trying to find the right place to put this, hopefully I will get some answers here. So basically I am trying to create a matrix style inventory database. The basic idea is that we have about 200 products and 700 or so customers. For the 200 products, each customer may pay a slightly different price. For invoicing purposes, I would like for FileMaker to know what the price of a product is once a customer is selected. I have a buttons that only appear in the Find mode using the hide feature in layout mode. My customer doesn't like that the continue button is in the upper right when the script is paused. I have a button called continue. This might be a stupid question but is there a way to have press enter and it activate the button on the layout (PC or Mac)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hi!  This is a stupid problem but I just cannot figure out how it works.  I've created a small calendar where each day is shown in it own field. Each month the contents of the fields are calculated and placed to correct field so that if the first day of the month is Monday, it is placed to the first field. If the first day of month is wednesday, it is placed to third field etc. (please see the picture). Each of these boxes are named objects.  Then I defined each "box" as a button which starts a script and copy the date in the field to a variable $date (Set Variable [$date; Value:Get (ActiveFieldContents]). But for some reason I get nothing out of it.  …

I am trying to use an interactive container to preview a PDF file, except it is giving the expected result. When I navigate to this layout it opens the PDF in Adobe Reader, rather than previewing it in the container field. I used the Insert PDF function. Previewing of video files works as expected though. Am I missing something?

I have a file in filemaker with a specific view. The problem i am having is that when i am on that view/layout and click on a button that saves the entire view as a pdf it cuts off most of the layout. Only part of it will fit on an 8.5 X 11. I have to make the print layout be A3 sized and landscape to fit it all in. I can set my print options on my local system and it works fine every time but if someone accessing the file remotely (since it is on filemaker server) tries to print it, it cuts off the layout and they have to change their print settings locally. this is problem because there are potentially 100's of users that will print from this layout and they…

Hi Is it possible to have two sub summaries in a report. I have two in my report layout but only one shows up. I am trying to get the crowd report all units to sort it by date and then under the date display some information that is then sorted by unit. Is this not possible. I did think about putting the unit section in the body above the scene details, But I don't want it to repeat the date and unit several each time there is a scene. I have a table containing the names of about 12 mailing lists (number of lists may change later). I need to allow the user to select which mailing lists are to be used for sending a message, And I'd like to design the layout in such a way that it will automatically adapt when the number of lists change. It would be easy enough to show the list names in a portal, with a checkbox for each list name. But I'd really like to have the list in three columns so it takes up less vertical space on the window. I know I've seen it demo'd someplace, but for the life of me I can't recall how to insert an image with a 'watermark' effect -- a pale rendition that can act as wallpaper behind the fields on a layout. Searching for 'Watermark' in the Filemaker Help resource yields nothing . . . . I can't even recall whether you have to use an Image Field (preferable), or whether you do this via "Insert > Picture" as an object on the layout . . . I see that I can use a 'Graphic' for the Fill for a Part --- but that's not quite giving me the placement flexibility or the pale-quality I'm looking for. Any help?

I have been struggling with this one for too long, and I believe that it should be simple, so I'm here to ask for help. I have an Employees table. The user can mark an employee "Inactive" when they are no longer with the company. It's a number field with 0 if they are still employed and 1 when they are no longer employed. I am trying to show only active employees on my drop downs. I can only get it to show ALL employees and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Sorry if this question has been posted, but I can't find the answer. I have a summary report showing a list of vendors, and the amount paid for a defined period of time. We have 2 fields in this report "Vendor" & "Purchased" (summary field) in the report. We didn't purchased anything from some of the vendors, but they still show in the report. I would to only show vendors that have an amount in the "Purchased" field. Thank you.

I plan to make extensive use of modal windows in my application. When opening a modal window, I want generally to center it over its parent window. I do that by calculating relative window sizes and positions and then using Move/Resize Window to get it to be the proper shape and size. However, I have a "window flicker" problem--when I first create the window and assign the layout, the window is the same size as the underlying window. I cannot compute the position of the window until after I do a Resize to Fit so that I know the size of the new window. But by then the window is visible, so moving it results in it flickering from its created position in the upper le…

Hi When i get my database to generate a crowd report it seems to make random page breaks, sometimes it will go right down to the bottom, then some times it will leave a massive gap, even though the next dates information will clearly fit on the page. I cannot see that I have set up any accidental page breaks. It seems very random and I have made sure the boxes that don't have information in them auto shrink to fit. Hi, I have researched but did not find, so I would say I am not good at searching.. I have a database with several tables, and each table presented in a Tab. When I have a note I made a new window open with only the note field to be filled. Everything works good but the layout with the tabs returns systematically to the first tab when the note is in the fifth tab for example. I tried to set freeze window in the open script for the note window, but it did not work. What can I do to have the tab return to the original tab I was in when I close the note window. Any help will be appreciated

Hi, I have a customer who has requested a default font across their solution layouts. Now I've tried to default Filemaker's Font in the past … unsuccessfully I must add; but since I was the only one interested in doing that, I just accepted whatever Font Filemaker provided. Which is perfectly fine for me. Thank you in advance for helping me out. I need a text (calculation field, text only appears when it's on the last page of the document - size of text varies from 1 line up to 15 lines) to appear on the bottom of the last page of my printed document. I've been testing with the different parts: - footer: seems to be the correct part but the footer part won't slide, even if my field does, so I have this open space in the footer of all the other pages. I also have a fix text address line in the footer. Hi I have a database that was showing a field in the report, but suddenly it will not display it. It has information in the field and it is there in the layout of the report, but will not show up in the report suddenly for some reason. The field that is causing trouble is the one labelled description. I have tried deleting it and reinserting it and still does not work. I made sure it was to the front in case something was hiding it. Any help on why it will not show up is greatly appreciated as I am sure I didn't change anything on the field. 2014-06-19 UPDATE --  I made a new blank file in FMP 13, created a sample radio-button field at 9 point and it works fine / normally. I then copy-pasted the field to my current solution in FMP13 & used the style-clone tool. Despite not seeing any differences in attributes in the Inspector pallette, it fixed the problem.  ---Original post & question ---- I need to use radio button and check box value lists at small font sizes -- 9 points, in some cases even 8 points. Using FM 13.1 Pro Advanced on Windows 7 Pro. Fairly novice user. Using no scripting at this point as I'm just trying to use FM native UI to see more clearly what I'm doing. Yes, this screams for a script, however... I have a TO containing 'individuals_TIMESHEETS'. This TO has two fields called zs_HoursWorked (a Summary field) and date_Timesheet (a Date Field). Can anyone point me towards a more clean solution for sorting and show sort order in a list view? I've been using the technique that is included with many of the older FileMaker free templates. This requires a global field 2 values to hold the icon. A calc field for each column you want to sort like, hilite_Status, hilite_City, hilite_State etc... It also requires 3 scripts for each hilite indicator. (So for the 3 columns hilties i mentioned I'd need 9 separate scripts). Can anyone point me towards a more clean solution for sorting and show sort order in a list view? If I could get this down to maybe on script per column it wouldn't be so bad. This…

Hello All! Love using FM's grid tool. But, the grid does not show where there is an object! The grid becomes useless in some situations, especially where there is objects on top of objects. I'm trying to create a 2-page invoice. I currently have a layout that includes a large Header, Body for line items (list view), Sub-summary for invoice total and notes, and Footer for payment info. This is the first page, and it will always only be one page long. For the second page, I will have a few fields and lots of "small print." It will also always only be one page. Is it "better" to somehow include this second page on the same layout as the first, or just create a new layout and script the printing/saving as PDF? Thanks! Michael

This should be an easy one, but could people tell me what the simplest, most efficient means of enabling a user to type a Heading for the top of a sub-summary report? What I have in mind is text that would go in the Title Header section. I've got the report all laid out with sub-summary parts, and a button that takes the user from the main data entry / search layout to the Report okay. I want the user to be able to scroll around, look at the report data and then Type in, say a 50-character (or whatever) heading that goes at the top of the first page. I have a database with a number of layouts. Each has the same logo at top left, a title in caps, and then a 1-pt line box surrounding the fields. For consistency's sake I want all these things in the exact same location on each page. In Layout Mode I have used the Inspector to check the location of all these items (for example, the logo is at 0,0) and they are identical across all layouts.  However, when I'm in regular mode and I click through the layouts, on ONE layout everything is shifted about 2 pts to the right, and there is a tiny gap all down the left side -- see screen caps (hope they're big enough). This gap is NOT visible when I look at it in Layou…

Since then I normalized the existing database and am working on making things work properly. This is a follow up to my recent post "Go To Related Record From Sub Summary Report in Browse Mode" but it's also a multi purpose question so I figured I would start a new post. First, please be aware that we are running windows and opening a new window is an ugly user experience on Windows that I simply don't find acceptable. So I don't want to open a new window. I have a sub summary report based on payments, related to invoices, related to customers. The basic invoicing structure. It's built to view in browse mode with multiple options for sorting and grouping. To simplify the question, let's just use the basic scenario of all payments grouped by payment method. So I end up with a grouping of payment types ( check, cash, money order, credit card, etc. ), number of payments and amount. What I would like to be able to do is have a go to related record button next to each payment type that will go to a found set of that group. So here’s what I have, simple: Three tables the second on being the child of the first, and the third that of the second, Ids (pk), fks, and a couple of dummy fields. I just listened to Lee and Andy's podcast about splash screens, and creator's rights, but it's more about the splash screen's that I ll tie this is in with what I replicated in my solution as a splash screen. Inspired by the what's new screens in ios and iwork in particular I created a table with version updates. Hi , I have a report layout. Â In preview mode the "Save As Excel" Option is working fine. But when through script I pause the script in preview mode "Save As Excel" option is greyed out , but "Save As PDF" is working fine. Â Menu set is Standard Filemaker Menus. I've done this loads of times but for some reason the fields on the CPD Report and CV Report layouts (attached) won't slide up in preview mode. I think I've done the obvious but obviously something isn't right. Also wonder why the page counter in the footer isn't displaying Page 1 | 2, Page 2 | 2, but instead Page 1 | 1, Page 2 | 2. Dear Filemaker Wizards: I have a filemaker pro 13 database containing data(Names, project completed, etc.) where we print completion certificates for our study program. In this database, there is a button that when pressed,opens a layout(certificate) that can be printed. Unfortunately, this opened layout covers the entire database screen and this is an inconvienence when we have to go back and search for another person. I have a simple report that lists Faculty by their Credential (Doctorate, Masters, Degree, etc) The goal is to have a list, by name, of all faculty that have a specific credential. The list is Counted as well. The problem is that many faculty have more than one credential of the same type (eg. two Degrees). I want to see the description of the credential (so I know what it is for) and a count of faculty that have it. What I have lists all the faculty with that credential and it shows multiple credentials for those that have them but I can not get an accurate count of the number of faculty. Hi All, I have used FileMaker for YEARS but only for very simple projects (mailing lists, etc.) I'm on version 12 now and we want to container fields for a project. For instance, we'd like to have a file saved alongside each record so the file and the info/status/etc. are never disconnected. We would be exporting these files using scripts at some point in the project. Question: I keep reading nightmare stories about data loss and corruption when using container fields. Just verifying that only "number, date, and time data " get carried over. The reason for this is that fm's documentation is, imho, confusing: " If necessary, select Apply current layout’s data formatting to exported data to format field data as it appears on the current layout. FileMaker Pro allows you to format fields on a layout, which makes the data look different on the layout than how it is actually stored in the database file. I am having a really hard time implementing active row and alternate row state colours in fmp in table view. I ‘ve read quite a bit on it, documentation, blogs, threads here etc. (whatever there is to read, which of course isn’t much), but I am not having much lack. I am getting the basics right setting colors via the insperctor for primary, active and alternate and then I select one option for my body, either one, so far so good… then nothing works at best I get one coloured line at the end and the rest of the layout in table view where there is not text is coloured. I want to add a large text field where one can write notes, comments ... Because of the limited space, I added a new button "comments" to this object that looks like a tabs but isn't (I think). I'm using the default invoice starter solution in Filemaker 13. This already included the "invoice address" (left) and "shipping address" (right). I have a database with just under a couple of dozen fields within each record. In its current form, only four fields are included in the Tab Order--about a third of the fields are calculated or otherwise don't use keyboard entry so I wouldn't tab to them anyway, and the rest are only used in particular instances. However, there are another three fields that I do enter text into with some regularity; when I do so, it's usually in all three. Hello Board, Is there a way i can open 3 new windows (for example) and script them to different monitors? If I had a 3 head card with 3 monitors, can I put one window in each and build a video wall with timed scripts changing content? I have opened new windows and placed them at positions on a screen, at a certain size. Is this the only way to try something like this? If my desktop is one across the monitors, i could just place them where i need their corners and size to suit. What does everyone think? H

Hello Board! I am trying to hide a button in a List Layout view. I have two tables connected together. The first table puts a record in the second table through a script attached to the record button. I have this setup as a conditional format, that changes the colour of some text: Count (Job_Logging_Job_Scanning_Terminal::Combined_WO_JobID )≥ 1 So, if a record has already been made, then the text goes Red. We're just in the process of upgrading to FM 12, and I have 12 Advanced on my machine for testing. I'm making some cosmetic updates to some of our files, and trying to line up and center multiple objects within the layouts. In FM 11, if I selected multiple objects, the "inspector" tool would show me the position and size of the objects as a set (i.e., the right edge of the right-most object selected and the left edge of the left-most object selected). In FM 12, when I select mutiple objects, the "Position" dimensions just zero out and the "Size" dimensions just don't change. Is there an option or a way to easily check the dimensions of a group of objects like this? (As a …

Hi All, Â I have a report that shows a bunch of detail records in the body, and in the "Leading Grand Summary", it displays a Notes field from the header table that the detail records are related to. Â My customer asked me to move that Notes field to the end of the report. Seemed simple enough. Unfortunately, that field is blank if it is in the Trailing Grand Summary, the Footer or the Title Footer. Is there any reason for this behavior and is there any way to fix it? I have a database that contains a client table, a journey table and a destination table. From these tables I need to create a list of clients that go on regular shopping trips and print them out for a bus driver. I’ve tried using a portal on a separate layout but any record I add gets overwritten when I select another client. I hope I'm posting in the correct place. I need some help recreating a report page. I attached a picture on how it's supposed to look.  In the report page it moves horizontally from Monday-Friday and shows what time the task was done, by who, and on the left side what kinda of task it was.  What i don't understand is to make a table with columns only showing that day of the week. So if it was done Monday it will be under Monday only.  I also attached a screenshot of the actual task page. Hello Board! Firstly, Thank you for all of your input so far. I have recently installed FMS13 and rolled out our small application to 10 users. I have come on leaps and bounds in the last few months and now our FM solution is becoming more and more useful and powerful every week. In FMP 12 one used to be able to do a simple trick with merge fields, where you formatted the first letter in the text (the "<" for example)the format you wanted to display and the rest with any small fonts you chose so you could have its size manageable on your layout. The scenario is as follows, a user accidentally enters a value from a pop up with a non editable value list. Then they want to edit the field and set it back to void. Well, they can't unless you script a button to do so, which to me seems clumsier than having a " " in your value list and maybe a - before or after, separators being great for such staff. As an aside, in find mode you again can't use the field to search, as far as I can tell, unless again you put in a button or some pop up. Another way I would go about that would be to have to fields overlaid one visible in browse and the other in find mode, that's my approach at least.

Hi, I've just been given a project to produce statement from Filemaker 6! The only bit I'm struggling with is page numbering. Most statements are on page so no problem there - I've set page numbering to restart after each occurrence - so each is numbered as page1. The problem I have is when the summary breaks across two pages, each is still numbered as page1. Is there any way - in filemaker6 or newer versions - to get the second page to have the number 2? I have several record summary reports that my users pull up at different stages during a product. Most of the information presented is images related to a single project. What I want to set up is the ability for the users to change the size and location of the image fields without having them use layout mode. I saw a sample solution for something like this a long time ago, but I can't find it now. Anyone have suggestions? I am using Filemaker Pro Ver 12 I have only one table called Customers with data files: Account#, First Name, Second Name I would like to use my Drop Down Box like a search box so when the user clicks on the drop down box and finds the account number they wish to select, all the other fields such as First Name and Last Name will be displayed on the Layout form in the fields that I have called then. I have a straightforward list layout formatted as follows; Field 1 | Field 2 | Field 3 | Button 1 | Button 2 I've set the tab order for a straight left to right, so 'Field 1' is 1 and 'Button 2' is 5 in the tab order. Problem is, tabbing just rotates around the 3 fields and never lands on 'Button 1'. I note in the inspector for all my buttons that 'Go to next option using' has Tab, Return and Enter as possible options but they are all ghosted and therefore not selectable. I am working on a catalog printout with the name and description in the left hand column and an image in a narrow right hand column. While the description is often short, it is sometimes extremely long. I would prefer to allow these long descriptions to break across pages, but I'd like the accompanying image to not break across the page. I want something that I believe FileMaker cannot deliver by default: something like a conditional page break. I designed postcards that have name and address on the front and a message on the back. I made a layout of four cards on a page in landscape mode and for one side it works fine. If I try to extend the page into two to try to put the message from the other side on it it comes back and says I can't do it. So I made a second layout with the message on the postcards. How can I get it to print the two layouts double sided without having to stick it back into the printer?

Hi guys, I've got a container field on my layout, completely unstyled, no fills or borders or anything. I've got "Reduce or Enlarge Image to Fit" selected and I have tried checking and unchecking "Maintain Original Proportions" no matter what I do there's a white border around the image within the confines of the container field. This border is not part of the image. I need the edge of the image flush with the edge of the field! Anyone run into this? Thanks.

I have a value list that is based on field in a table (Attachment 1). Â When I set the field type that uses the value list to Pop-up the field displays the Name and stores the Contact ID as required. Â However, when i set the field as Drop-down the field displays the Contact ID. Â Is there any other way than stacking the Name on top of the Contact ID with the field set as a Drop-down? Â Thanks... We would like to display data from multiple tables in the form of charts on a single layout. Filemaker does not allow this, so I am seeking a work-a-round that is not going to significantly add to the overhead. I have a solution that works. It involves container fields and a script that runs at start up. Unfortunately, this script dramatically slows the start of the database, especially if the database is accessed via VPN while away from work. We are using FMP12 clients on Macs running OSX 10.8 or 10.9, and our database is hosted on a server running FMP12 Server. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Using FMPA13, I went to format a checkbox field this morning and it seems there is no longer a way to change the color of just the actual checkboxes or, if there is, I am missing something here. Under FMPA11, it was simple: select a color for the line, regardless of setting the Borders to off or on. In this case, Borders were turned off. Anyone else experience this or am I missing something obvious?

I have a table - Equipment There is a child table - Equipment Photos, that may contain 0 or more (up to about 5 or 6 generally, but sometimes more!) photos for each equipment. I want to print all equipment items, and for each item show ALL of the related photos, in a thumbnail. I've used single row portals to try and get this going, but it is limited by the number that I set up, and then it will always leave space for this many items, even if the equipment has none. Does anyone have some suggestions on how best to achieve this?

This past year I notice all demos are including status bar. I am wondering if it is because of iPad. Or are developers using it more now because it can be better controlled? And with web direct, my layout does not fit right because of browser bars. I got a file by Jeremy Bante on window size for example and it shows leaving status bar. You can get it by going to ModularFM. I would prefer not to have the status bar. But does iPad and iPhone need to show it? I see that web direct shows a funny status bar which I can not remove. Howdy, all: I built a runtime solution that'll be used internationally and am having trouble figuring out how to enable users to pick a date format they prefer. For example, here in the States we use the MM.DD.YYYY format whereas in Canada it's DD.MM.YYYY...and even some users want to incorporate ISO 8601 where dates or timestamps are presented as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM (Z)). There are about 40 different date fields in 11 different tables so I'm looking for a systemic way of doing this so when a user goes to the Main layout s/he selects a date format s/he likes all the date fields comform to that choice. I just read up on it. Why can't I use kiosk so that I do not need to remove menus, hide status and all that stuff. I plan to put my own buttons anyway. But when I search I find little about it used this way. We will be on windows but also on iPad. And web direct probably. With server. Would not kiosk make a cleaner design? There must be dangers or problems I do not see.

I have a table that I'd like to be able to sort according to columns similar to the behavior in MS Excel. I'm wondering if someone already has an example of this that they could share, or suggestions on how to go about it. In other words, sorting columns sequentially would not clear the prior sort order, but would apply the prior order as a secondary sort criteria. Also, sorting by the same column twice should reverse the primary sort order. This would be done with sort buttons in the column headers, without bringing up the sort dialog. Thanks.

Hello all, I am working on designing a report that I can print out and send to each customer. On this invoice report, I want to display related records from 2 related tables. I had thought about using portals but they don't print well. The first table will display the time sheets entered in for this particular project. Hello, I am using FMA12 for Mac. I have a text field that grows when the screen size grows by using the layout anchors. I would like to have have my content inside of a text remain on a single line. If it goes beyond one line, I'd like it to display the text, and truncate the remainder with "..." at the end so the user knows there is more data in the field. I know I can use a calculation based on text length, but my issue is having different users with different screen sizes and adjusting on the fly. Any thoughts? Thanks, Stephen

Main fields in the body part of the layout: Item Quantity Value Total ItemType -- A layout using List View. There is a sub-summary part, when sorted by ItemType. In that part, a summary field TotalValue (total of Value), and a PercentageOfTotalByType calculation field ( Value / TotalItemsByTypeSummary ) are placed. Both these fields provide correct results. I'm computer literate, but a big novice at DB creation. I've been reading lots of pages and the manual and can see there are many interesting ways to go about the same task. I've converted a database from Access via an xlsx and got it working fine. It is a one table DB that stores to one unique record, workshop repairs done in a bicycle shop. This is more a heads up or a quirk but it has to be pointed out that when you use the ready made iPad border around your layouts design area, important one that is, it's actually showing you the wrong place to put your layout because of in the Go application is actually taking up some space that goes unaccounted for. That could almost be considered a bug actually, it certainly isn't a feature. In any case heads up to anyone designing for the iPad if you've figured it out yet.

FM automatically does the following and I want to know if it helps to turn them off Has checked 'commit' on custom dialog. Helps to uncheck it? Has quick find checked in layout Is it cheaper to have layout base set as NONE for fill instead of a colour? If the colour I want is the same as no fill, why fill it? Hi there, I have a report which generates course run rates for a particular date period which works fine. The report includes a run rate which is simply the total number of course days that ran (were not cancelled) divided by the total number of days in the report period. All well and good. I need to add some sub-summaries so that the run rates are also calculated when the courses are sorted by course stream (streams are classifications of training like subject areas). I might be in over my head on this, and maybe headed in the wrong direction: My solution will include about a dozen or more nearly identical reports. These are all simple lists with the same title header, header, body, sub-summary, title footer, and footer. The only thing different is the found set. So, rather than create and support (and update when needed) a dozen or more layouts, I had the idea of using the same layout for each report. So far, so good. Hi I am having troubles using the inspector in FileMaker 11 Advanced version 11.0.3.312. When opening files sometime the inspector shows position like 402 px and then everything works well. But sometimes the inspector shows position like 402,000 px and when that happens I cannot copy layout parts on layouts or between layouts. I have tried to uninstall and install again with no luck. I have a merge field as a button. It is a repeating field individually and the button name is the result. It works fine. But I need to find out which button is clicked and its repetition number tells me that. I tried using Get(Repetition) and Get(CalcRepetition) and GetLayoutAttribute and a few other things even passing parameter of Get(ActiveFieldContent) but nothing so far works. I suppose I could go back to the regular fields as the buttons but I did a lot of work already. Also I would like to know for next time any way. I see the field name and value quite clearly but how to get them? Thank you for reading.

I have an index LIST with titles as buttons. Selecting a title opens a new window with detailed information in a FORM view. The script that returns me to the index needs to center (when possible) the displayed list on the Last_Record_Selected. This is easly done by forcing the list view record pointer to the last record and then moving to the Last_Record_Visited + an offset value. Works like a charm - except - it leaves the active record pointer setting at the last record in the visible list. I've been trying to set a slide control to be completely invisible. I have set the background to None and the line width to None. In my mind, that would mean the slide controls should not be visible. But, I can still see a hairline black border for the object. No combination of attributes (same colors for background & border color of part background, transparent attributes on background and border, etc) seem to get rid of that black border. Am I missing a control somewhere? I have seen this on other object behavior (tab control & web viewer) since v12. Any hint to a solution would be awe-some. Thanks

Hello everybody! I work in a dental business. I have made a little database to keep track of the cases we have ongoing. There's only one table: CASES. Each record tracks things like the patient name, the date of the next appointment, etc. The field STATUS tracks whether the case is "Live" or "Completed".
