FileMaker Server 14

The only version of Filemaker Go that I can find in the iOS App Store is Claris Filemaker Go 19. With this app I can't connect to our FM Server v.14 like I can with the older Filemaker Go versions. Any ideas on how I can give access to a new iOS user, since older versions of Filemaker Go are no longer on the App store?

Please help! I am upgrading 2 of my company laptops. We're a small service company and only have 3 people using FM to do the scheduling, A/R, etc. The previous laptops ran Windows 10, so I don't see why this is a Windows problem. I set up the new laptops and installed Filemaker but it was about the 4th application I installed. One of the machines was running 14 and the other 15. For both machines, when I tried to launch FM, I would get the spinning icon and then nothing. I have watched the list of applications and processes while I try to launch. I can see the process appear in the Task Manager and then disappear immediately. And there are no events or messages on FM Server Console that show failed authentication. I'm running Windows 10 2004. And the client version is 14.0.4.406_x64. Update: Under Event Viewer I can see LIBEAY32.dll is the faulting process. Update 2: I have updated the client to 14.0.6.602 and had the same results.

Hi, I have fm 14 server running on a mac mini. I have recently upgraded to FM16 running Mojave on 2 x local macs. We started with one license, where only one of us could use FM at a time (as we knew), I have since bought another copy and and reinstalled FM16 on the local mac with the new serial number but the server still seems to think we are using the same copy?? and we are getting the attached error. I have completely uninstalled FM locally but still does not work. I have asked my FM guy, as well as 2 or 3 other people but everyone seems to be stumped?? Is there any way of clearer the cache which may be holding this old information? Any help would be much appreciated.

My production Filemaker Server 14 running on Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan (Not Mac OS X Server) has been running fine for a year since I last installed the Thawte SSL Certificate. After renewing the certifate this year, I've tried various different methods of importing the new certificate, which came with an intermediate certificate, but I can't seem to get the intermediate certificate installed. I have a script that is scheduled to hourly pull the URL source from a currency conversion site and store it locally for use. If I run the script from my computer on the database it will work fine, however if I run the script from the server it will give me a "scripting error 1631". I found that if you're inserting a "url" from a file then you must use file:/// before it or something like that to fix the issue, however I am inserting from an actual URL and am not sure if I've done something wrong. So our IT group migrated a Filemaker 14 server with a business application that I support. Since the migration, the system response has been horrible. Screens that took about a second to render before are now taking 15 seconds. I have monitored the server and the most significant statistic seems to be network latency. Most of the other statistics seem fine, but latency has gone from 20-30 milliseconds to 800 milliseconds at times. Does anyone have experience with the Scale HC3 architecture running Filemaker solutions? What has your experience been? Are there words of wisdom to make this better?

Ok. So I know to use layouts in form view when I do not want to fetch records. I read that somewhere. But I notice I can have fields added in table view and they do not show in form view. If the layout is kept in form view and only switched to table when i want to view the fields does this mean records will still not be fetched when in form view and the fields do not show? Same question if in form view but I have fields on a second tab of a tab panel and do not display it? as long as I do not switch to table view or display the second tab, no records are fetched? Hi all, I recently upgraded my Filemaker Server 13 to Filemaker Server 14. To get the new version to install, I had to downgrade my Java8 from u113 to u67 (separately installing the old Java version, not allowing the FMS installer to install Java itself). I also had to fiddle around to make sure it was running the httpd which comes with FMS and not the one bundled with Mac OS X El Capitan. My question is, am I now save to upgrade Java back to the latest version. I'm not anticipating needing to install FMS14 anytime soon, but does the "Deployment" part of FMS use Java, and if so, is it similar fussy about which version?

I'm looking to create a script and place it in a button to exist on two layouts (BACKUP and MAIN), to accomplish the following when activated from either layout: Copy current ACCTNUMBER If current layout is MAIN then go to BACKUP layout and show the same ACCTNUMBER record. else if current layout is BACKUP then go to MAIN layout and show the same ACCTNUMBER record. ....I'm sure it's a no brainer but right now I'm totally missing some small step to start the script ....help?

I'm wrapping my head around the Standby Server feature, and there's only one aspect that I can't figure out. I use Webdirect, so I'm forwarding port 80 to the internal ip address assigned to my primary server. If that were to go down, my standby server would take over - but it's assigned a different ip address - so my router's port forwarding rules will still be pointing to the ip address of the primary server. Is this accurate? If so, is there a way around this?

Hi Guys, I am having trouble with Find Operation getting slower and slower each day. There are some design consideration as per some articles i have read recently which i will be doing as well. I inherited this solution from another developer, Find is based on some Calculation fields which are based further on some other calculation fields (both calculation fields have 'Do not store results' option checked) I know its not the best of designs, i wanted to ask for any possible improvement to Find process as its getting clumsy now. Good morning. My client has FMS14 running on a terminal server with about 8 clients using it at any one time from that terminal server. From the reports I am getting back, when they open the solution, they are getting a message that appears to show that the Network Sharing has been enabled. As I understand it, when the solution is hosted on FMS, then the Network Sharing (for peer to peer?) should be disabled, however, even after turning off Network Sharing, it appears to come back again. I had to migrate a Mac OS Mini Server running Mavericks 10.9.5 and Filemaker Server 13 to Filemaker Server 14.0.4 on El Capitan 10.11.6 today. It turned out to be an unpleasant and tiring operation, so I wrote a little manual that hopefully can help and save time for other people running into this situation. Hi Guys, I had been using FM EasySync for few months now, so it had been working fine till now. Without having any change in the table structure, i got the error " The attempt to push data into server has failed ( The mesage recevied rom the server was "852" ) 852 Error is : Cannot write a file to the external storage I believe this is related to container fileds I am using. I have a couple of sequence scripts configured on our FM14 server (under Windows 2008 R2) and for some reason, the system level scripts after the internal FM scripts no longer launch under the identity I specify in the schedule config. They always launch under System and that's causing access problems. The server has been rebooted and I have tried brand new schedules for the tasks but nothing changes. Anyone seen similar behavior and have a solution? Thanks

Hello from the UK Does anyone have a good solution for automatically copying the FileMaker backup files to something like Google Drive on Mac OS X? FMS doesn't let you set the local Google Drive folder as the backup location as it doesn't have the correct permissions (I assume). I have purchased CarbonCopyCloner (shareware) for some customers which will do it, but does anyone have a great solution to copy those files using built-in or free tools? I suspect that there is a UNIX command that will do it, but I'm not very well versed in that. Any clues would be good! Merry Christmas everyone.

Hi I'm running FMS server and have daily and hourly backups. I'm not using cloning and I do verify integrity. Today we ran into a major problem were some data was deleted and I wanted to use a backup and restore the data. I moved the backup file to a local machine (away from the FMS and to my local FMA 14) to check if the data we deleted was stil there. But the whole file is empty?! All backups are empty, zero records. The file size is large enough to assume it should be there but there simply is nothing. 0/0 records shown. I'm not cloning for sure! HI, We're in the process of rolling out Filemaker Pro to our staff at the school. Is there an automated way (by running a script for example) whereby I can remotely log into all the desktops and connect the locally installed version of Pro to the server and the database, ready for staff members to login? Got the authentication figured out which I thought would be the hard part and it wasn't. Now I'm getting ready to send the data and I'm stuck! I need the data from a layout and the realted data from a portal. XML should be fine but I don't know where to start, how to create this xml with all the data and then in one way or another send it to the webservice. After php 7.0.1 installation (successfull) i can´t edit filemaker server´s deployment anymore. on test step, there´s a message: "The FileMaker installation process was unable to communicate with the web server.". Someone knows how can i fix this?

Hello, Our school district has recently started to use Filemaker to automate some student data functions not available in our student information system. I have run into an interesting problem when exporting tables based on found sets. When running the script using the server Schedule Scripts function, the export table seems to be ignoring the found set I have created in a layout. I have tested the same script functions in the same order in the client and I get an exported CSV that is based on the found set. Is there something I am missing in regards to context? When I start the upload to FileMaker Server and it asks for me to enter my Admin Console name and password, I get "Connection failed." We have Filemaker 14 running in a virtual server on Server 2012 with no problems. Somebody decided to restart the server for what reason we do not know, which of course killed the virtual server and we restarted it. Initially Filemaker server would not start (in services) I figured out the reason why, I moved the dbs_config.xml from the Preferences folder and then fired up the Filemaker server and it started with no issues. We only have 1 problem now, the webdirect does not work, we can see the webdirect webpage and see the databases but whenever when click on them we get the message "Database Not Available" although everything appears okay. Hi, While trying to track down a reason for not having access to the Admin Console from a remote machine (can access it locally) I discovered that web server was not enabled. I can't find a way to enable it. On the status page there is no indication. I only discovered this by editing the deployment. Nor can I find a fsadmin command to start the web server. It works on Mac OS 10-11, and FileMaker Advances 15 Then i've tested it and, it's thrue, it really works, quickly and smart. Hello Forum, I have scheduled a script that i expect to search for a running tour(on current date) and creates and invoice for that tour. The server gives a notification that that script ran but when i check the database, there are no records created. Also the script ran just fine initially and suddenly that began to happen, without any alterations. Hello, I'm looking for a little feedback on hosting our FM 14 database through a different port other than 5003. We are experiencing latency issues with our Filemaker Go clients being on hospital wifi's and a lot of the accounts are blocking ports. We would like to use 443 to host the file to avoid blocked ports or other issues. We currently have a VPN setup to help with this issue, but, this tends to be hit or miss for our sales rep. These reps typically like to get in and out quickly and have severe ADD, so getting kicked out and having to trouble shoot how to get in and stay is making them feel like the database isn't working well. Hi Guys, I am having some issues related to FM Pro crashing. One of the client who is on windows 8.1 the FM Pro 14v5 crashes unexpectedly almost everyday. They access the Filemaker files that are hosted in a Filemaker 14v4 Server hosted in Windows 2008 R2 system. This issue is happening on the windows system only. The client has 2 windows workstation and one workstation using a iMac. The Filemaker crash is happening only on the windows system. The iMac has never crashed. PDF s in a container field don't display, but instead either one of two things happen: 1 on FMPA14 running on Terminal Server (Windows), an error displays 'Security settings do not allow downloading this file' (or something similar, the message is in Dutch). the dialog doesn't display a FileMaker icon, only a yellow warning sign (Windows?). I have a client who was hosting a database using a older Mac Pro running Mavericks and FMS 12. About a week ago they were finding that a series of steps would crash the server. If they used the quick find feature twice, the server would stop serving the files. All three served files would be closed and the server would be turned off. We could get things back up and running by turning the database server back on in the admin console, but we did find that we couldn't initiate a manual schedule execution. Can any one please help clarify something for me. If we have 15 users connecting to a FM server which is loaded on a dedicated windows 2012 server do I need a windows license for each of those users? They will only be connecting to FM server through remote connection over LAN - NOT logging into the server as a windows user in any way, shape or form. Currently I am looking into a dedicated line from Telekom that is providing a dedicated LAN connection between the two offices (called LAN connect or Ethernet Connect). I've got an IP thermostat and I'd like to regularly pull the temp using SNMP and insert it into a FileMaker database. I've got a bash script that returns the temp but I can't figure out how to get that data into FileMaker. I've got a script sequence which runs the bash script and then runs a FileMaker script. I was hoping get(scriptparameter) would read the output from the run before script, but it doesn't work. Do I have to write the temp out to a file and then import it or is there a better way? I have a client that is running Windows 8.1 (fully updated). FileMaker Pro 14.05 (64bit) is also installed. The program will open and show you the Launch Center. However, when you click any solution in the Launch center or use the "Browse" button to open a file, The launch center disappears but the FileMaker file never opens. Only an empty screen is shown. No error message is given. FileMaker is still running in the TaskBar, but the only way to get back to the Launch Center is to quit FileMaker and open it again. Sorry, I'm not sure where to post this. I need to have a form filled out on my public website (basically a service request form) and have that form create a record in my FileMaker database. The database is hosted on FM14 Server. I can't use webdirect because I don't want John Q. Public to have to login just to fill out this form. From what I can tell, after FMP14, no more shared server hosting will be permitted. Looking at the prices offered by my hosting company, the difference between a shared server hosting plan ($20/month) and a dedicated server plan ($130/month) is quite substantial. Curious what people think about this. I'm disturbed, because it may lead us away from FMP in the future.

I am running FMS 14.0.4. I have 16 gb installed ram on a dedicated mac server running 10.9.5 - I'm having 2 problems 1) fmserverd is not responding in activity monitor 2) I have noticed my server using most all of the 16gb of ram even sitting idle - Please help

I have a database that I created for someone to help me with this example - I want my filemaker database to update a field called CurrentDate in filemaker via the server everyday. If I use a date field and run a server side script once a night (current solution), then I have to wait for it to finish and it can take a while with 100,000 plus records. If I used a calculation field set to get(current date) then the server does not update it nightly - each morning I was to do a find on what invoices are past due and everyday that find should change depending on today related to the due date on the invoice - any suggestions? I installed from downloaded image v14.0.4 and then patched to 14.0.4a. When I go to http://localhost:16001 - nothing happens. It just sits on the screen saying that "Admin Console is starting...". I've not been able to deploy or setup anything yet. During install, it is setup to use alternate ports, namely 8080 and 8081 (http, ssl) respectively. When I go to the Console logs, I see this error repeated: XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED trying to map database No clue how to proceed, anyone else got a suggestion? THANKS ahead!

Hi - my backup schedule is acting odd. The log says the schedule has aborted as the destination is "not writable" and some files may be left at the destination. A look at the folders seems to show them being written but they are not deleting after the nominated number. The status in the schedule window also says permission denied. I am using a custom backup folder but to test, I swapped it back to the default folder with the same issue. Any help much appreciated - thanks

I want to be able to set folders on FileMaker server that will appear visually when the user goes to select a solution to view on WebDirect and Go. Is this possible? That way we can group files together and have a folder for solutions we're still testing.

I purchased the filemaker server to host my solution so i can access it remotely. however , how many ways i tried this i can`t seem to access the file . i put in the IP address of the machine where my server is hosted but unofrtanetly it can`t seem to connect.

So I saw the new 14.0.4 update popped up on the website and decided I should finally upgrade the server to El Capitan. The instructions said it was "recommended" to uninstall the FM Server first before initiating the upgrade but I decided I could probably go on without uninstalling and went ahead. A couple of hours later right after the 10.10 -> 10.11 upgrade was complete I found out that the entire contents of the /Library/FileMaker Server directory was gone save for an empty Logs folder. There you go guys. This is what you get for not following the recommendations of your pals at FileMaker Inc.

I have this same solution I'm installing to 3 separate FM servers, but on one of them I can't get passed this Communication Error 22 for some reason. The error says it's the username or password, but it is imply not. I am using as basic as it gets with a username of "php" and a password of "1111". I also tried my regular admin account, but I get the same problem. I do have the FMPHP privilege set for both of these accounts... The server is on Windows with a fresh update of Java and then a fresh install of FMS14. Deployment seems to go smoothly, and everything shows nice green lights. I am trying to install FMS 14.0.4 update to my local development FMS 14.0.2 system. I have closed all databases and turned off FileMaker Server 14 in the admin console. When I run the updater, I get a dialog "This update cannot be installed while FileMaker Server is still running. Please stop FileMaker Server and try again." What else do I need to turn off to install the update?

I'm having some serious problems with my installation of FileMaker Server 14 and PHP. Everything seems to have installed properly and seems to be working fine except for one thing: If I make a php api request to get a record for example from a FileMaker database that request takes forever... 10-20 seconds, the immediate subsequent requests are as fast as you'd expect them to be, they just work. Then 30 seconds later it's as if I'm making that first request again, 10-20 seconds to get that record. I struggle to figure this out. I'm told that in our completely VM environment that we use a SAN architecture which should provide the speed and the ability to present the volume as a local drive. None of the material that I find in the forums seem to deal with the VM environment and translating is somewhat difficult. I'm arranging a test server so configured to see if this would work. From one day to another the FMS service is not starting anymore. I had this several time in the past years and i allways reinstalled. Now i have to many schedules which i cant fully recreate, so i dont want to reinstall without trying everthing possible.

Hi everyone. Could be something already solved years ago, but I only noticed it happening in version 14 and not in version 13 or older. Sometimes at random for no apparent reason the server would drop the connection to clients and this connection can almost immediately be re-established. Not a huge problem except it's annoying. I tracked it down to Time Machine interfering with the main live Databases folder. Excluding that particular folder from backups in Time Machine preferences solved the problem. I have a client on an iPhone 6 who is getting "host not available" message on FileMaker Go 14. This is for internet connections(not local). SSL is enabled. Other clients and myself have not experiencing this message, unless the server is actually down. The server appears to be setup correctly and I only have ONE network connection enabled and IPv6 disabled(windows). I have asked the client to note whether they are on WIFI or Cellular Data when this happens and also which wifi connection. Are there any iOS settings that are overlooked? Any other ways to diagnose?

I received an email from Cognito Software (MoneyWorks Accounting) last night with a warning about installing El Capitan on their server: "The El Capitan GM release made available to developers by Apple earlier this month had an extremely serious bug which would erase all data belonging to server software, including MoneyWorks Datacentre data and Filemaker Server data. We have advised Apple of the bug, and they have acknowledged but not said whether it has been fixed for the public release on 30 September." Has anyone experienced this from the FM side?

Hello FMP Wizards, A few weeks ago, I had to switch to FMP 14 Server. Prior to that our little group was able to get by with hosting on one Mac but we had too many times when someone had to leave FMP so another person could get in. Anyway the transition was very smooth for all but one of my databases. I have one task that only I do. It's accounting related and I use three external files to do it. Hi all, I have seen that It's possibile in FileMaker server 14 add an additional folder for external container. Is it possibile create a folder like this filewin:/z:/path/ ? Where z: is a Map Network drive? Or, in general, Is it possibile stored external container field non in a local position but on another server? I have tried but seems non working. My Windows 8 user just upgraded to FMP14. When accessing a hosted file (built in FM 12 on an FMS 12 server at a hosting service), FileMaker crashes on one particular script. Other users have no problem on Windows or Mac. She reinstalled FMP14 and reinstalled the FMP14.0.3 update. No help. I've updated 3 servers to FM14v3, and two of them are fine, but the one that sees the highest use (and has the biggest database) is now throwing "failed consistency check" errors which prove to be False Negatives (e.g. the files are actually fine). FileMaker has a tech note that this is a "known issue" http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10787/~/consistency-check-error-for-scheduled-backups but I'm wondering : anyone else seen this starting with their FMS14v3 upgrade? Any way to fix it? I hate ignoring these warning emails.

Hello Everyone. We just applied a SSL certificate that "originated from a certificate authority supported by FileMaker." We checked off "Use SSL for database connections" and restarted FMS 14. What we found was that the Mac clients running FMP12 can't see or connect to any hosted databases. The odd thing is that the Windows 7 machines connect without a problem. The macs are running Yosemite and we have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software w/o any luck. Re-install process was to install the base 12.0 software, followed by the 12.4 update for Mac and then the security update that was released in April. Our University IT is now requiring MacOS users to encrypt all storage devices. What I found on the FM board (http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9650) is the recommendation NOT to enable Filevault due to the performance hit, but no indication of the severity of the effect. The recommendation is indistinguishable from being part of a laundry list of generic recommendations to improve performance (get a fast drive, enough RAM etc). I have a filemaker server 14 running on a Mac Mini os X 10.10 and I want to schedule a Filemaker script to run on the server that every night updates a table with new entries from a excel sheet that gets updated daily (in .xlsx format). The import records script works fine when I run the script locally on my laptop (filemaker pro 14) but when I schedule it to run on the server, it runs successfully every time and throws out no error codes. However the table does not get updated at all with any changes or new entries to the excel sheet. …

All 3 of my FMS14 servers last night reported a number 729 backup error at 1am, coincident with the time change. Anyone else see that?

I just had multiple failures trying to run the FMS14v3 updater. The installer would just get stuck at "27 files left to install" sitting there with zero CPU or Disk usage. This is on a 10.10.5 server with Server.app 4.1.5 running. Finally, on a whim, I decided to shut down all the services that Server.app was running - I'm not sure which one it was, but after shutting down File Sharing, Calendar, Messages, VPN and OpenDirectory, at some point the FMS14v3 installer recovered and finished the update.

Hello, We have just moved our FM CRM from being hosted on a P2P network to Filemaker server 14. Going forward we also want to attaché documents to clients. As these attachments might be large, it might be an idea to have them stored in an external container. There is a default container linked to the DB but I can't edit it or change the location. (See picture). Ideally I would like to specify a UNC path and have them stored in a separate folder on our Fileserver. 1. Am I correct that there is no way to change the location, or am I missing something? 2. Is there way to change the name of the path? i.e. the original DB name was invoices but now is called something else.…
