I am attempting to send an email in Filemaker with the following: - Outgoing SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au - Port: 465 - Connection encryption: SSL - Authentication: Plain Password - User name: my email address - Password: app password generated in Yahoo. When I run the script I get an error - Unknown Error:20639 and when I click OK my Custom Dialog appears stating The test email was sent. Hello, I guess the above title says it all. The Send Mail script step gives me an “Unknown Error: -1.” when the file to be attached to the email has a name that contains French accents. If I remove the accents from the file name, everything works fine. Amongst the approximately ten thousand files involved, about four thousand have a French name with accents. I can’t possibly fix all those file names manually. Is there a way to make the Send Mail script step work with those file names with accents? I’m using FM 19.2.2.234 and Windows 10, and my email app is Thunderbird. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I am a developer with a number of clients and I look after about 3 servers. As part of this, I have used SendGrid as an easy, free SMTP sending server. Has worked fine. Here I am just talking about sending with Send Mail script step -nothing complex like the API. I am thinking about sending both from scripts (so Send Mail script step) and server itself (FMS error messages etc). I wanted it to automatically genenertae the PDF then email it out to a set email address with just the touch of a button with the script. I have several users and passwords set up for sending automated SMTP emails but I am concerned of script failure if a user happens to change his or her password. Therefore, I am building a daily script for the management team that tests each SMTP email and password and reports errors before the script is performed later in the day. Filemaker Pro Adv 12 running under Windows 10. Trying to "Send Mail" with two (2) attachments. The specified attachment files are defined as $Path1 (from_map.png) and $Path2 (to_map.png). Both files are located at C:/Users/{user id}/AppData/Local/Temp/S<n>. The Specified files are entered as: $PATH1 $PATH2 However, when Send Mail is activated only $PATH1 is shown as an attachment. Can't seem to get past this problem, help please.

LS, A client recently ran a Windows update and since then FM returns error -1 ( unkown error ) when using the sendmail scriptstep. I tried reïnstalling FMPro (32bit) ( can't install 64bit ), because of 32bit Outlook. That didn't help. Any ideas?

Hello I have inherited a database in Filemaker 12 on Windows, but I am completely new to databases. I have a script which generates and saves a pdf for each person using fields from their record. This works well. I then have a second script which is meant to email each of these pdfs to the corresponding person. I have included screen shots of the script and the "send mail" options. When I tested it by putting only my own email address in the To: box, it sent me hundreds of emails each with a different name in the text, and the correct corresponding pdf attached, as expected. All I want to do is send an email to everyone in my database, but just have it say, "Dear ___________" and fill in the blank with that person's name, put a "," after the name, go to the next line, grab the text that's in my Email_Msg1 field, for each person in my found set. I've been using FMP13 on MacOSX 10.12.6 with Apple Mail to send FMP-generated emails with attached PDFs. I recently switched from Apple Mail to Airmail, and it is now impossible to send emails from FMP. Does anyone know if Airmail can send mail with attachments on Sierra MacOS 10.12.6, if I upgrade to FMP16? That's the only reason I might really need to upgrade, and since upgrading to FMP16 will also require a few new computers to run the new OS that the new FMP demands, I'd rather not spend all that money now if I can avoid it. It turns out there's a known compatibility error between 32 and 64 bit versions of FileMaker Pro 16 and MS Outlook 2016 with regard to the send mail script. Both software require the same bit version. Hi, I've spent a lot of time searching around to try to figure this out - to no avail. I want to be able to send a single email (may be different each time the mailout is done) to multiple recipients that are the result of a find. Hi All, Having been shown the bug in 10.11.6 and FMP by bcooney I am setting up the Send Mail script to send via SMTP. This works OK in the Invoice table but I can not get it to work in the Quotes table. There does not appear to be anything in the mail setup script that is capable of creating the error and I have tried three different smtp server addresses with the same result. I have used all three smtp server addresses on the Invoice table as well and they all work. Can anyone assist please.

Does anybody know a way of directly attaching a file to gmail (via the webclient) using mail to or via the send email functions. We have multiple users that move around the building so setting up outlook for each user is becoming a nightmare. They use iPads so the send mail script function works here, but on a desktop we would like it to force open GMail or use Mailto: and take the attachment with it. I've just installed FM 15 and using an email script to send through SMTP I received an error code 1634. Looking it up on Filemaker's website it says it's new for FileMaker 15. Does anyone have any insight into what causes this error and what I can do about it? DB Client: FMPA 12.03 File served by: FMSA 12 OS X 10.6.8 Thunderbird 16.0.2 When the 'Client' option is chosen for sending an email from inside a FileMaker database, FM spits out an error: 'Some of the files that are needed are either damaged or have not been installed. Hello I have a script which includes the creation of an email, using Email client. It has been working fine, but one of our staff has upgraded to Outlook 2016 and now, when he activates that script, he gets a message from Outlook saying:: "Either there is no default mail client, or the current mail client cannot fulfil the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client." He's done that, but still no luck. From what I read elsewhere there may be an incompatibilty between Outlook and Filemaker 14 - something to do with 32-bit and 64-bit. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know the solution? The attached script generates a pdf that is attached to an email that is sent out in our mail server on our Mac server. We have ATT internet service. When running through the loop of anywhere from 10 -109 records, it will give me an error stating: email (s) could not be sent. The process tends to work better when I have 1-10 records but not not always. If I run the script again the record that did not send in the previous trial, goes out just fine. I am using a "Perform Script on Server" step to send email via SMPT. For some reason, the date stamp is four hours earlier than the actual time. My IT department has confirmed that the date and time on the server running filemaker is correct. I'm wondering what setting is being used to generate the email such that when it arrives in my outlook email client, it's four hours earlier. The reason I am using Perform Script On Server is my IT department doesn't want to allow email relay from the client machines. So, I put the relevant info in a log which the script can access when running on the server. That part of the script works fine, it's just the date stamp that doesn't.

I have a solution that creates an email with an attachment. We need to use Applescript to do this, not the default 'send mail' function, and I am having trouble getting the applescript to attach the attachment. What is strange is that some records, it works consistently, and other records it never works. Basically I save a PDF to the desktop, then send an applescript command to use that attachment. The desktop PDF always creates, the new mail message always creates with the recipient pulled from the fm database, but the attachment only sometimes attaches to the message. I am taking a new look at how I build in email functionality, and I have created a system that seems to be working well, but I wonder if I'm missing something, if there is a better way, or if I may be painting myself into a corner for expandability down the road. A few years ago I abandoned Send Mail via client when FM and MS Outlook refused to get along after an update. I had a dozen or so automated emails that failed when we upgraded, and rather than fight the battle, I switched to SMTP. Hello, I recently got into filemaker to use for my clients. I run a piano tuning business and I have Filemaker setup so that I can enter the name, email, address, about the piano, and so on and so forth. Now I would like to make it so that I can add service plans to each of my records because every client has a service plan. i am having a problem with the email function on invoice tab within 'starting point' when i hit 'email invoice' it should set up an email with the invoice as an attached item however it doesn't, when i do the same within the 'estimates' tab it pops up with my email from an attaches the estimate and i can send it to the client so recap emailing estimates works but trying to email invoices it won't provide me with an option to 'send' help ? it did work but now doesn't...... thanks on advance

I'm doing a Send Mail via SMPT set-up in a script going to an Exchange server. It works fine when I'm use Filemaker 13 via a Citrix gateway. However, when I execute it from the Filemaker 13 client, I get "Email(s) couldn't be sent successfully." I've confirmed the server setting with my IT department. I support an application written in FM13, and have recently made a minor change to the system to cc two email distribution lists each time an email is sent by a script step. I made the change by adding the email aliases, separated by semi-colons to the script, using the Send Mail Options dialog: The email alias masks the actual email address, so in the dummy examples above, each would resolve as, say, [email protected] and [email protected]. I have a re-order amount for items and when the re-order amount is reached, the in stock field is highlighted red. This only happens on a client with Windows 7, FM 12v3, and Outlook 2010. All updates are applied for Windows and Outlook. Same script works fine on Mac and on Windows XP clients. Hi there,  I have a database where i have some related tables with different information regarding an order. So have a web site that generates an fmp link, and emails that out to a user ... so something like: <a href=fmp://myfmsserver?script=myscript>Click here</a> I open that message from from Mac Mail, and it opens the FMS db just fine. However, when you open it in gmail, there is no link, it strips out all of the href link data, leaving you with "Click Here". Same result on all browsers. So basically looks like Gmail doesn't have a protocol handler for fmp. Even if you send out the raw link ... fmp://myfmserver?script=myscript without the href tag, it creates a link out of everything following "fmp://", so it still won't work. Anyone …

We recently upgraded to FM 12 from FM 11, and 3 scripts I have that send emails via client are causing problems for users. Originally, this problem was reported to me as "FileMaker freezes up", but when I tested it, I found that what actually freezes is just the mouse. I can use the keyboard to send the email, and then all functions return to normal. My email populates all data correctly, so it's just a matter of whether the user needs to add additional text to the bottom of his email and then having him understand that he can send the email without using his mouse. I am having an issue that started when I upgraded from FM12 to FM13 (client and server) and I upgraded to OSX Maverick.  When I go to email a document I get this error message (see attachement)  I can restart Filemaker and it will work for a few emails and then it starts up again. I have several scripts that email various documents and it happens in all of them. Also, this happens on all the client machines, which are running FM13 and OSX Maverick.  I have attached a copy of a screenshot of the script that I am using.   Any help would be greatly appreicated.  Thanks Mark Burris

Hi, I have a customer who import a participant list with their e-mail addresses. After course completion, each participant is sent their certificate in .pdf format via email. The only challenge is; the E-mail App flashing due to the fact that I have to loop through each record, export their info to .pdf then email the .pdf to the assigned e-mail address. If there are 9, 20, 30 participants, the email application flashes 9, 20, 30 times, and the user sees this. Please see attached script. I recently upgraded a solution from FM11 to FM12 and now my carriage returns are all screwed up when trying to send emails. We are using FM 12 and have many mac users on Outlook 2011. Many users are reporting Outlook saying "Unable to download the item. Item contains invalid XML characters" it does not tell them which message it is but I have managed to find out which emails and there does not seem to be a pattern. I believe the fault is something to do with invalid UTF 8 characters. The emails are being sent by a server side script using the SMTP option of the send mail script item. The problem is that these emails are really important and are warnings to people about problems with our business. Hi Folks, I have a portal of players involved in a gig. That works fine. I have a button on the layout to email all the players using my email client (Apple Mail). Clicking the button opens Mail with the appropriate subject title, but there are no recipients in the "To" of it. I've set it to send to emails from the HomeEmail field and CC to the WorkEmail field (in the same table that players come from.) Is Apple Mail incompatible or is there something else I'm doing wrong? Hello, I have read back through the answers already given, but I am still having a hard time scripting this simple task. I am trying to create a PDF document, with the file name being PO:Approval & ".pdf". I am saving that file to a folder on the desktop. In saving the PDF, I can create an email with said file as an attachment, but I have to go back and fill in all the fields of the email. We have been using the same script without fail, that saves the record as a PDF and create an attachment. We are currently using Filemaker 11. We now have one pc running Windows 8 with Office 2013. The script will save the PDF but not launch Outlook. Or it will launch Outlook withouth the file attachment. Also the relatve path does not work on the Windows 8 machine. I have tried using the Windows 8 machine with Filemaker 12 (currently testing Filemaker 12 server) and it still does not work. Please help! Our work is deploying Windows 7 Enterprise which comes with Outlook 2010. I'm a test terminal and we have FileMaker Pro 9 (we have absolutely no budget to upgrade, unfortunately).
