Hi, I am relatively new to FileMaker. I am a PHP developer currently working on a project that involves the FMS custom web publishing PHP API. I was able to successfully connect using the API, but the connection is no longer working. The error message says only "Unable to open file". My research says that this could be due to the database file not being open, or to a permissions issue. I can see in the FMS admin console that the database file is open, with "normal" status. The FMWEBDIRECT and PHP columns both have full circles, indicating that the database should be accessible through the PHP API. I want to start at 1 for the next quarter, but it is currently 13 days before the end of this quarter. Logically I could start auto-enter serial at -13 and incrememtn by 1. So the first record would be -13, then -12 etc. Doesn't seem to like it. First record is -13, second is -14. Is this a bug, a feature, or known behaviour?

For security reasons, my institution is requiring me to migrate my FMS15 solution, currently residing on a MacPro in my office, to the IT data center. Since they do not run MacOS, this includes a migration to a hosted windows server running FMS advanced. I have a portal that shows records from another table. They are 'available' or not currently assigned records. The problem is that the list is too long. I would like to be able to filter the list by entering characters in a Filter field. The relationship currently looks like this: Available = yes I would like something like: Available = yes and Filter (is a substring of) Productname I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that.

I am working already a few months on my file "DTW-new.fmp12" via the FM-server 15 on my MacBook Pro without problem and suddenly today this file can't be found anymore, although it is still on the server. But it shows that the status is "Closed", so I probably should change this to "Normal" or something else. Sorry for my ignorance, but I can't figure out how to do this. Hi there I'm trying to get SyncDeK to connect to FMS 13 on a clients' server. I have it working successfully on my own development server, but for some reason, ODBC/JDBC won't start on the clients' machine. FMS 13.0.5.520 on OSX 10.8.5 Apart from ODBC / JDBC access, FMS has installed and deployed correctly. I'm running FMS 11.0.5.510 on OS X 10.9.5. It's serving forty databases, one of which is served to the web via custom web publishing. Everything is running smoothly but the campus security auditor is picking up a vulnerability with the old version of OpenSSL running on OS X 10.9.5's Apache. I addressed this on a different, non-FMS Mac by disabling Apple's bundled Apache and using MacPorts to install Apache2. How to do this on my FMS 11 Mac? Just getting MacPorts to install Apache2 is the first problem as port install apache2 fails with a conflicting ports message. We have recently upgraded to FM15 Server, and most client machines to FM15 Pro. Since then, we are having strange problems printing PDFs created in FM. The PDFs will not print to desktop printers connected to individual machines by USB. They will however print to our larger network printers. We've updated all printer drivers with no change. Any idea on what might be causing this issue? We've also been having another pdf issue since the upgrade which I will save for another thread. Many thanks.

Hi, I am using filemaker 11 to copy customer info from excel into the database and then it would generate special keys in pdf allowing us to send the file to the customer. My access to the filemaker is non-admin, and the import function of customer info has been blocked. We are keying in the record one at a time, so we are looking at ways to automate this process. When I try to create a new record using applescript with just it was not allowed. There are data that require validation like date and auto-indexed record number. So, is there a way we could create new record and then using the set function to copy data into the report?

I have a table called Employees. These are either Current, Freelance, or No Longer Employed. I want a list available to select current employees. I have a filed called Currentcalc which is a 1 if the employee status is current. All I want to do is to go to an unrelated table and be able to select current employees from a lost. I simply cannot get my head around how to filter lists. I have tried every possible combination of settings and cannot understand the logic of filtered lists. We have had Filemaker 15 Server up and running of while but when we originally installed it was installed on port 444 (because of our router configuration). We wanted to reinstall using port 443. So I uninstalled per instructions, uninstalling, bonjour, microsoft items, java etc... Rebooted our Windows Server 2012. Ran installer and got the error message the port 443 was not open. Rand netstat -a -o from command prompt, it said Filemaker 14/ on port 443 was listening (PID 768 and 4), So used skill to kill the PID. Rebooted, still unable to install Filemaker 15, port not open. Hi Guys, I am having trouble with Find Operation getting slower and slower each day. There are some design consideration as per some articles i have read recently which i will be doing as well. Good morning. My client has FMS14 running on a terminal server with about 8 clients using it at any one time from that terminal server. From the reports I am getting back, when they open the solution, they are getting a message that appears to show that the Network Sharing has been enabled. As I understand it, when the solution is hosted on FMS, then the Network Sharing (for peer to peer?) should be disabled, however, even after turning off Network Sharing, it appears to come back again. I had to migrate a Mac OS Mini Server running Mavericks 10.9.5 and Filemaker Server 13 to Filemaker Server 14.0.4 on El Capitan 10.11.6 today. Just a quick question..... Is there any reason, other than firewall, that a FM Pro client could see a FM Server in the Open Remote File dialog box, but NOT see the files on that hosted on that server? The files ARE set to display in the Open Remote File dialog box. The files are seen when FileMaker Pro is run on the Server. The files are NOT seen when FileMaker Pro is run on a client.

I doubt many people care about this, but I'm annoyed that my Server Script is throwing errors in the server Log Viewer (under the Server Events module). Specifically, error 401 (No records match the request) and 101 (Record is missing). Even if I have Set Error Capture [On] in there and capture the error code using Get(LastError), FileMaker Server still throws an accusing finger at me and says "scripting error"! It'd be nice to eliminate error warnings like this so I can focus on real errors that I care about. I'm running FileMaker Server 12 Advanced (12.0.4.405).

Hello, Stange situation here. After reinstalling FMS15 to resolve an issue, one of my FMPA clients on just one of my computers displays "connection failed" when trying connect to the available databases on the server when trying to connect with the local ip adresse. All while several other computers have no problem doing the same. The FMPA client that has the issue has no problem connect to available databases via an external ip address. I have never seen this before and can't find any meaningful information on this by googling. Would anyone have any idea what's going wrong here? The error appears to be (51) on FMS.

Hi Guys, I had been using FM EasySync for few months now, so it had been working fine till now. Without having any change in the table structure, i got the error " The attempt to push data into server has failed ( The mesage recevied rom the server was "852" ) 852 Error is : Cannot write a file to the external storage I believe this is related to container fileds I am using. I have a couple of sequence scripts configured on our FM14 server (under Windows 2008 R2) and for some reason, the system level scripts after the internal FM scripts no longer launch under the identity I specify in the schedule config. They always launch under System and that's causing access problems. The server has been rebooted and I have tried brand new schedules for the tasks but nothing changes. I'm reaching the 125 database limit of filemaker server, so I need to deploy a second and was hoping I can do that on the same network and just change the default ports. But I must be missing something because I'm not able to bring up the admin console after installation. I think it has to do with a conflict on port 5003, but I'm not sure. (FYI the databases don't have to talk to each other - they are all silo'd) My question is this - is there a way to run more than one filmmaker server deployment on the same network? If not, my only thought would be to create a virtual network with my router, but I don't want to go through the trouble if I don't have to. Any advice…

I have a FileMaker layout with a portal to another table. The relationship shows all unassigned records (related < 1). On each portal row I have a button which runs a script. The idea is that when you press the button the a value from the main record is copied and pasted into a field in the portal row (and as a result the portal record becomes 'assigned' and is removed from the portal. I have the button running a script and pasting the value from the main record but it is pasting it in the first portal record, not the one whose button was clicked. I updated my FMS15 from 15.0.2 to 15.0.3 yesterday (on MacOS Sierra & latest updates) running on a MacPro. I shut off the DB before updating. Today, my host files are unmodifiable. Anyone see this? Did the files get corrupted? They behave normally otherwise... I am traveling, so I can't troubleshoot directly, but I can use the server admin console remotely.

Hello from the UK Does anyone have a good solution for automatically copying the FileMaker backup files to something like Google Drive on Mac OS X? FMS doesn't let you set the local Google Drive folder as the backup location as it doesn't have the correct permissions (I assume). I have purchased CarbonCopyCloner (shareware) for some customers which will do it, but does anyone have a great solution to copy those files using built-in or free tools? I suspect that there is a UNIX command that will do it, but I'm not very well versed in that. Any clues would be good! Merry Christmas everyone.

Hi I'm running FMS server and have daily and hourly backups. I'm not using cloning and I do verify integrity. Today we ran into a major problem were some data was deleted and I wanted to use a backup and restore the data. I moved the backup file to a local machine (away from the FMS and to my local FMA 14) to check if the data we deleted was stil there. But the whole file is empty?! All backups are empty, zero records. The file size is large enough to assume it should be there but there simply is nothing. 0/0 records shown. I'm not cloning for sure! Hi: I want to share a good cloud backup alternative, Hubic, it gives 25 GB free, and you can schedule backup to happen "x" hours or minutes after a file has changed. So just add a backup schedule to the "Hubic"folder of your PC or MAC where you have your server and instruct Hubic to sync 1 hour after, that way you make sure the upload will happen after your backup has completed. Neat and free. I was using Onedrive, but with the recent decrease in free capacity I looked for alternatives, I specially like the delay before upload. Carlos

I'm helping a client who has an old install of Filemaker Server Advanced 11 running on a Mac Mini. It's been running Filemaker v11.5 for about 2 year without any issue... All of a sudden today, it stopped working! I checked to see if there were any updates installed from apple or java... NONE! I completely uninstalled Filemaker Server and reinstalled v11.5 and applied the java fix... still won't start. For nearly 8 months, the company I work for has been experiencing very frustrating issues with xDBC Listener on FileMaker Server 12. We migrated to FileMaker Server 13 last week and we're seeing the same issues.  Both FMS12 and FMS13 have been installed on (separate) virtual machines, both running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (Dual-core, 16GB RAM, hosted DBs and backups live on secondary drives). Hello all. I am running the FMS 14 backup scripts to a custom folder on the same disk as the Filemaker install. There are a number of errors generated. Schedule window Status says "permission denied" Main Status window say "Schedule "Daily" aborted; the destination "filemac:/server HD/fmsbak/" is not writable." Folders ARE created the backup databases but some files are corrupted (although others not) The backup folders do not delete after the schedule number of backups. I have been having some network issues using FileMaker Pro 13 advanced on OS X. I had a similar issue with Yosemite, but it seems to be worse with El Capitan. I am using a shared folder on another OS X computer in order to transfer information between the two computers. The file in question is a FileMaker Pro 13 database, which I write to and delete. At times, the network seems to fail, and FileMaker Pro 13 advanced seems to crash. I have run all the tests on the database, and everything seems just fine. Otherwise the database runs very smoothly. All right guys, this might have been discussed already somewhere but I cannot find it so sorry for a potential duplicate. I'm trying to get to the root of the problem here. At random times a perfectly regular FM Server v10 running on OS X 10.5 with all the latest updates installed would stop responding and serving clients. Attempts to connect will time out in about 30 seconds to a minute. Admin tools (such as fmsadmin) stop working and wait forever for the server to reply to a command. HI, We're in the process of rolling out Filemaker Pro to our staff at the school. Is there an automated way (by running a script for example) whereby I can remotely log into all the desktops and connect the locally installed version of Pro to the server and the database, ready for staff members to login? Hope someone can help with this issue. I have filemaker server 14 installed on windows 10 ( yes! I know that is not part of the recommended specs by filemaker but it has been very stable for me as I only use it for odd db's when I am out and about from the office) and was working fine no issues whatsoever. Hi, I'm am using BasicElements BE_ExecuteSystemCommand via PSOS to run different commands and commandline tools for different purposes (PDF and image handling etc.) - and it works perfectly. However some commands needs to be run from an Administrator account or even Domain Administrator account, but FMS uses the NT Authority/System account for running scripts. How do I get around this? Hi Haven't been on for a while. I have a question. Does anyone know how to create mutually exclusive buttons? I have 2 buttons/fields that have 2 different value list attached. I would like to be able to click on one of the buttons/field and to have the other buttons/field become inactive and visa versa and to then reset to both active in the next record so that I can then choose again. I have a database on a Filemaker 13 server. Initially I was having trouble uploading to a container, as it started taking a VERY long time for small documents. This was due to port 443 not being open. It is open for me now; however, I still get intermittent periods of slowness as if it isn't open. What seems to happen is when I go to the server, to check if things are still open - nothing seems to have changed, but when I go back - the file uploads much faster. For example, finds, sorts, new record creation and so on. I have a test bed of scripts which loop and perform such tests, such as creating lots of records and populating them with dummy data, and so on. Hi, Please check the error attached, which says that the file is open and it can be opened by the REMOTE command. The file is open by another user. But on my computer the Remote command shows an empty box! And the only way to open any files is by going to RECENT files. REMOTE command shows files normally for all other users. I have two filemaker servers. One is version 7 and the other is version 11 advanced. I transferred the files from FM7 server to FM11 with no problem. Long story short, everything was great until I realized that the users were still using the FM7 files. To fix the problem, I shut down the filemaker service on both servers, then made a backup of each server by copying the files to another folder. Then I removed the FM11 files that were never used and copy and pasted the .fp7 files from the FM7 server to the FM11 server. I have a system being hosted using FMS14. I also have a duplicate database hosted for testing/exporting using FMS15. PSOS is much slower in my hands with FMS15. Both servers are physical boxes, with similar (maybe identical) specs (Cores, RAM HD Space, HD Space available) I also have a Server Side script that creates a found set, exports data to excel and emails it to a user. (This is based on https://www.skeletonkey.com/restoring-filemaker-clients-found-set-within-server-side-script/). The exports have a couple of related fields, but no unstirred calculations. I keep a backup copy of my hosted solution (under OS X) in the default FMS Data/Backup folder. The backup is scheduled twice a day (noon and night) and I keep 5 versions of each copy. The solution includes nearly 100.000 pdf files in managed container fields (RC_Data_FMS folder), in total only these files take 10GB of disk space. I would like to follow the 3-2-1 backup rule so I should be storing 2 more copies of the solution, I would use a Synology NAS in the LAN, so my plan is: Keep the 2 daily copies stored in the Data/Backup folder, in the server disk (Done!) Hello everybody, I have solution up and running and now I would like to send some data to a webservise using the REST method. Got the authentication figured out which I thought would be the hard part and it wasn't. Now I'm getting ready to send the data and I'm stuck! I need the data from a layout and the realted data from a portal. I have a persistent issue that's been occurring over the last few weeks. A single web user account (different accounts each time) will suddenly start flooding the server with remote calls referencing the same global calculation field, according to Top Call Statistics. It will continue doing this until the web server is restarted. FileMaker client users are unaffected (other than a bit of a slowdown). Our access table records each time that the user logged off shortly before this started, usually ~30 seconds. The field is a global calculation field that is a predicate for a relationship. Hello, Our school district has recently started to use Filemaker to automate some student data functions not available in our student information system. I have run into an interesting problem when exporting tables based on found sets. When running the script using the server Schedule Scripts function, the export table seems to be ignoring the found set I have created in a layout. I have tested the same script functions in the same order in the client and I get an exported CSV that is based on the found set. Is there something I am missing in regards to context? Since FM Server cannot make PDFs how is this for a scripted workaround: FM client makes the PDF in the TEMP user's folder on local PC. The PDF is inserted into a container field on the current record. Mother script calls PSOS subscript which finds proper record and exports container PDF to folder on server. Send Mail grabs the PDF from the folder and sends the email from the server. PDF is deleted from folder. PDF file is deleted from the container field (No need to keep it) Result (Success or Failure) is passed back to the mother script. Sound feasible?

**This is more of a networking question, but I am applying it to FileMaker Server directly I've got two virtual single machine FM 14 servers under different subnets/buildings that I want to setup to be a hot/cold availability situation. The backup VM is synced from the production every 15 minutes (one of the great reasons to use ZFS filesystem). This server does have a static IP address assigned, but I forgot that I can't use the same IP address under a different subnet. When logging i (only on WAN) FM sends a garbled username whether from Keychain or manually. I know this from reading the error logs.This only happens on one file over wifi and only from my laptop. I just installed FMS 15 on a Windows 2008 R2 machine - everything checked out and the install went smooth. I then purchased a Wildcard SSL certificate from Go Daddy. I generated a CSR from the FMS Admin Console and pasted the encrypted text into Go Daddy's text box to setup my SSL. Here is the problem: The CSR generated from the FMS Console set the domain as mydomain.com instead of fmpserver.mydomain.com Where does Filemaker Server Console get the information used to generate the CSR? OK, In my FMS15 Server Event Logs, a Server Side script is throwing a lot of 645 Informational messages for a 101 scripting error. I know what causes that - it's a loop with Exit After Last, and I know how to suppress that from the logs by adding an Exit Loop If: Get (FoundCount) = Get (RecordNumber) However, before I do that, there's an extra piece of information in the log that I don't know what it means: Schedule "RT - RoyGen (2012)" scripting error (101 [175x]) at "RightTrack v3 : 6001 | Find Payable Royalties for an Event : 288 : Go to Record/Request/Page". I have a setup with fms13 running on a network that is using an Airport Extreme as router, wifi and firewall. It has worked perfectly for years. However it started playing up recently so I tried to setup a new configuration for the Airport Extreme where I opened all the ports that I thought needed to be open for FMS13 to work : 80, 443, 5003, 389. Now some of our customers are experiencing difficulties with even accessing our solutions, which we have narrowed down to local network problems at our customers. I am using a custom function to format a number into currency format ( two decimals ). RoundDecimals(11.0) = 11.00 The problems occurs when I use a variable: $amount = 11.0 RoundDecimals($amount) = 11.11 Similarly, I get the same error using a string: RoundDecimals("11.0") = 11.11 Is there any tricks to get around this issue ? We have Filemaker 14 running in a virtual server on Server 2012 with no problems. Somebody decided to restart the server for what reason we do not know, which of course killed the virtual server and we restarted it. Initially Filemaker server would not start (in services) I figured out the reason why, I moved the dbs_config.xml from the Preferences folder and then fired up the Filemaker server and it started with no issues. We only have 1 problem now, the webdirect does not work, we can see the webdirect webpage and see the databases but whenever when click on them we get the message "Database Not Available" although everything appears okay. I've a hosted database with a container field that contains pdf stored externally and open (not encrypted). The database has thousands of pdfs that were imported from a disk by a record-by-record script, those pdf can be seen from any fm client without problem. Now I've uploaded a pdf from a OS X clients, but the file doesn't show in Windows machines, instead I get a "file not found" message, but the files are there because they can be seen from the OS X client. Have external authentication set up for FM server 15 with several databases. When a user logins in with WebDirect it shows all the databases and a user may click a database and have access. In FM Go 15 or Filemaker Pro, a user logs in and then see the databases they have access too, but upon clicking on a database they are promoted for their user name and password again. Is there a way to make it so once a user logs in with FM Go and FM pro that they do not have to login a second time?

Hi, While trying to track down a reason for not having access to the Admin Console from a remote machine (can access it locally) I discovered that web server was not enabled. I can't find a way to enable it. On the status page there is no indication. I only discovered this by editing the deployment. Nor can I find a fsadmin command to start the web server. Does anyone have a clue how to proceed with starting the web server? thanks, Rick.

Every time I upgrade FM I lose functionality. This time, it seems that FM15 Server does not play nice with OS X Server 5. I have the latest versions of each. OS X is finding my virtual hosts just fine but installing FM15 Server breaks that. All virtual hosts display the FILEMAKER DATABASE splash screen. I read a long post about this problem relating to 13/15. Any new insights or workarounds for 15? Thanks

My old fp7 solution had some fields that store the path to external pdf files, the files were stored in the same server machine and the path were like "file://oldserver/folder/file", the pdf files are shown in the solution through a webviewer field. The solution is developed under the 'separation model'. I just converted the solution to FM15 and I moved into a new server, at present I have both servers up and running, so the fmp12 database with fields pointing to "file://oldserver/folder/file" still shows pdf files as expected. Good evening all, We are currently running FMS15 within a VM on Server 2012 R2 with no issues. At the moment all our databases and documents/etc are stored within the same VM and not on separate drives (meaning that at the moment our VM file is around 650GB). I was thinking about worst case scenario that we have to restore the server after an attack but if that happened - at the moment we'd have to roll back to the previous nights backup (potentially losing 8 hrs x 8 peoples work). If the DB's were on a separate drive/storage/etc we wouldn't necessarily lose the DB data, just the server, (which could then be copied back very quickly from a previous backup).…

I am updating a 20 yo solution that ran on FMS5 connected directly thru a fixed IP address. I have a dedicated Mac as my FMS15 Host. I am using FMP15 Client on different Mac. FileMaker Inc's new licensing seems to favour multiple VMs running separate server licenses. per VM. I've tried FMS (actually 13.0.9 so far) in a 4GB VM with 2 cores and it seems to cope with moderate load OK. But I guess the real test is if you have multiple similar VMs competing for host-node resources. Using Parallels Desktop at the moment (as that's what I know), but also considering VMWare Fusion, and regular VMWare installed bare-metal hypervisor without any Mac OS X on the host. Anyone else tried anything like this?
